Wol Euler was guardian and commenter for this session.

This was a cheerful and comfortable session, with a definite "weekend's nearly here" feel to it.

    Adelene Dawner: Hi Wol ^.^
    Wol Euler: morning ade
Wol Euler: how are you today?
    Adelene Dawner: Not bad. ^.^
Wol Euler: what part of hte 28 hour day are you at now?
Adelene Dawner: I'm going to wait 'till my schedule's a little freer 'till I try that again - Three's on vacation, so I have to handle the clients, which means I need to be able to be availbale during the day, local time...
    Wol Euler: aaaah
Adelene Dawner: ...which I'm obviously not taking all *that* seriously, but... ^.^
    Wol Euler nods
Adelene Dawner: (I have time to grab a few hours' sleep between now and 10 local, mm?)
    Wol Euler: sure :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Wol Euler: I've been sleeping too little this week because of work and SL, and I am really feeling the effects
    Adelene Dawner nods.
Wol Euler: like a breeze might knock me over
Adelene Dawner: I'm doing something approaching biphasic, actually, thought not intentionally - I work 'till I feel the need to sleep, then I sleep, with an alarm on as need be.
Adelene Dawner: My last sleep was from... sometime in the afternoon... to 11-ish, local time.
Squee: Change need not unbalance you; life's not a static object, after all. It's a process.
    Adelene Dawner: Probably 5:30 - 11?
Wol Euler thinks: I must write that add-on to record objects.
    Adelene Dawner nots emphatically.
    Adelene Dawner: *nods
Wol Euler: only five hours? that's barely more than a nap
Adelene Dawner: Yes, but I'd only been awake 6 hours or so, and I've now been awake 5, and intend to sleep again soon.
Wol Euler: oh I see, I'd misunderstood "biphasic".
    Adelene Dawner nods.
Wol Euler: 12-hour days, as it were :)
    Adelene Dawner: Something like that.
    Wol Euler grins
Adelene Dawner: It's not intentional... just, what my body's doing.
Wol Euler: I am a great believer in listening to what your body wants to do, says the woman who has been ignoring her body's frantic pleas for sleep for a week
    Adelene Dawner chuckles.
    Wol Euler: brb, tea
    Adelene Dawner nods
    Wol Euler: back
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Wol Euler: so, how's life in the new place? I infer that you are settling in and comfortable?
Adelene Dawner: Settled, yes. ^.^ Loving it.
    Wol Euler smiles
Adelene Dawner: Still... a bit... debating what to do about Tommy. I know he wants me to contact him.
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: has he tried to contact you?
    Adelene Dawner: Nope.
Adelene Dawner: But then, the only contact info he has for me is email, and he never liked emailing me.
    Wol Euler: how old-fashioned
Adelene Dawner rolls her eyes. "He never had a problem emailing random authors he wanted to get in touch with."
    Wol Euler: heheheh

    Tarmel and Gaya join us.

    Wol Euler: morning tarmel
    Adelene Dawner: Hi, Tarmel ^.^
    Tarmel Udimo: more like evening
    Wol Euler: oooh, nailpolish
    Tarmel Udimo: hey ade
    Tarmel Udimo: me or ade
Wol Euler: you; and patterny flats too. We've turned you into a shopper!
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello all :)
    Wol Euler high-fives herself
Tarmel Udimo: I've been wearing nail polish all along silly thing:-)
Wol Euler: hello gaya! long time no see.
    Adelene Dawner chuckles.
    Wol Euler: me frowns. Really?
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Tarmel Udimo: and the shoes you hated last time;-)
    Tarmel Udimo: hello gaya:-)
Wol Euler: naah, you're confusing me with someone else named Wol.
    Adelene Dawner giggles.
    Tarmel Udimo: hehehehehe
Tarmel Udimo: and hey Adelene is in purple today/tonight:-)
    Adelene Dawner grins.
    Gaya Ethaniel zooms.
Gaya Ethaniel: That comes with a skirt I thought Adele.
Adelene Dawner: Yes, it's changeable. ^.^
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah...
Gaya Ethaniel: wow more cute overload with the skirt!
    Wol Euler grins
    Adelene Dawner: hehehe
Wol Euler: the AO is sweet too.
Adelene Dawner was havign a bit of problem with lag earlier, so changed it.
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah... ok
Tarmel Udimo: I've changed to match you
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Gaya Ethaniel: So how are you all?
    Wol Euler: gettin' by.
    Gaya Ethaniel: aaww...
    Tarmel Udimo: I'm good tonight
    Tarmel Udimo: Friday night cooking
Tarmel Udimo: could have gone to an art opening and drank myself silly but decided to come home instead
    Wol Euler: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Wol Euler: probably wise, in the long run
Tarmel Udimo: well yes and know I was think that I may not be working at the gallery too much longer (one never knows) and its one of the hottest invites...
Tarmel Udimo: you need a date for those things, have often got my friends in but it just ain't quite the same :-)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Wol Euler muses. You could fit a webcam to your laptop and feed it into SL and take one of us.
    Adelene Dawner: :D
    Gaya Ethaniel grins.
    Wol Euler: sure, why not?
    Tarmel Udimo: http://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/
Wol Euler: the webcam shows us what is going on, and we reply in-world
Gaya Ethaniel: ah... the main one. I plan to visit this one and Power House when I visit Sydney :)
Tarmel Udimo: that would be fun, maybe next time...
Tarmel Udimo: yes, do you have friends in Sydney Gaya?
Gaya Ethaniel: No one in Sydney, but people scattered in other places :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Scratch that. I have Tarmel in Sydney.
Tarmel Udimo: well tok the words out of my mouth
    Wol Euler: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Gaya Ethaniel: Do you have many Drysdale in the gallery?
    Tarmel Udimo: thanks wol:-)
Gaya Ethaniel: He's one of my favourite painter :)
Tarmel Udimo: yes we do and of course if i'm still working there when you come we can havea glass of wine and check out the art
Gaya Ethaniel: Thanks I will let you know definitely :)
Tarmel Udimo: brb oven smelling good:-)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)

A participant IMed me to ask for a line to be removed from the log. I made a note in chat, which I would normally also have removed, but it lead to a new conversational thread.

Wol Euler jots down a note to herself: filter the log!
    Adelene Dawner: hehehe
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Wol Euler: might not remember if it isn't here.
Gaya Ethaniel: That's actually a good tip.
    Wol Euler grins.
Wol Euler: I have learned in this many a year (reaches for her zimmer frame) not to trust my memory
Wol Euler: meaning: not to load up my head with things that can be better "remembered" outside of it.
Gaya Ethaniel: ah... so the party was for an important prize.
Wol Euler: so I have notebooks and telephones and databases that do my remembering for me
    Gaya Ethaniel nods @ Wol.
Gaya Ethaniel: I write it down and 'forget' it.
Gaya Ethaniel: Otherwise, my mind gets crowded so to speak.
Wol Euler nods. The writing gives one permission to forget.
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Adelene Dawner: That's pretty universal - and makes me wonder if traditional schooling makes sense, actually.
Wol Euler: um, lemme think. No.
    Wol Euler: :)
Adelene Dawner: (I mean, it didn't anyway, but that's even more of a reason.)
Wol Euler: not as it is traditionally done anyway.
Wol Euler: who the hell needs to know whether King James VI of Scotland became King James I of Great Britain in 1588 or 1589?
Wol Euler: what kids need to learn is _how_ to learn. How to find out.
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes I didn't learn how to learn much at schools.
Adelene Dawner: Yep. That's the part of my education I still use - and it's the part that was only available to 'gifted' kids, too. Which worries me.
    Wol Euler: right.
    Gaya Ethaniel: How so?
Gaya Ethaniel: Only available to 'gifted' children I mean.
Adelene Dawner: As it's done here, if they consider you very smart, you get to go to special classes. There are different ways of doing it, but it's pretty much always stuff that's not available otherwise.
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah ok
Wol Euler: and yet who has more need to learn "how to find out things" than the non-gifted?
Wol Euler: by definition, the gifted are able to do so.
    Gaya Ethaniel nods.
Squee: You can never get enough of what you don't need.
    Wol Euler: ha! so true!
Adelene Dawner: Well... having been explicitly taught has been helpful to me. But you're right, I owuld have been able to figure it out on my own.
Adelene Dawner: He *is* very good at that, Wol. I still haven't figured out how.
    Wol Euler: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
    Tarmel Udimo: I am back
    Adelene Dawner: wb, Tarmel ^.^
    Wol Euler: wb
    Gaya Ethaniel: wb
Gaya Ethaniel: I saw your email Tarmel :)
Tarmel Udimo: thanks roast vegeys done
    Gaya Ethaniel: A cute salutation.
    Tarmel Udimo: my mummiewummie one:-)
    Gaya Ethaniel: mhm :)
Wol Euler: it would be very cool if she were to come to PaB one day.
Tarmel Udimo: need to get her a new computer, its a bit slow and i think that's what's putting her off coming feels like she has no control
    Wol Euler nods
Tarmel Udimo: and yes it would be cool if she came, she does but usually when no one is here
Tarmel Udimo: I am usually talking to her on skype
    Wol Euler: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Tarmel Udimo: you were having a good conversation please don't let me interrupt
    Gaya Ethaniel scrolls back...
Gaya Ethaniel: We were remarking how smart Squee is before you came back... no particular thread or was there?
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
    Adelene Dawner: Gifted kids?
Wol Euler: education and gifted kids
Tarmel Udimo: and how does squee work?
Adelene Dawner: Squee's basically a random number generator hooked up to a notecard reader - I can make him say specific things or ssearch the notecard for specific quotes, but 95% of the time what he says is randomly chosen from a notecard of 380+ quotes.
Gaya Ethaniel: I'm not gifted... my schooling was pretty bog standard so not sure about that topic.
Tarmel Udimo: gosh I can't believe that, Squee so often says the right thing
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Adelene Dawner: I *know*. Freaks me out a little.
Wol Euler: coincidence? we think ont.
    Wol Euler: *not
Wol Euler: or we think on't.
Tarmel Udimo: no lets face it Squee is probably enlightened
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
    Adelene Dawner shrugs. ^.^
Wol Euler: well he has fewer distractions than we do.
Wol Euler: closer to teh Essence.
Tarmel Udimo: thats a good point oh for fewer distractions

A quick RL check-up leads us on to a discussion of building and Beauty.

Tarmel Udimo: hummm just had some roast onion, so very sweet yum!
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Gaya Ethaniel: I'm just sipping tea here :P
Wol Euler: tea and biscuits :)
Tarmel Udimo: sorry couldn't help myself:-)
Tarmel Udimo: and listening to music
Wol Euler: (and Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater" with the marvellous angelic voice of Emma Kirkby)
Tarmel Udimo: gosh that was simultaneous or what?
    Wol Euler: what's yours?
Tarmel Udimo: streaming radio Smooth Lounge
    Wol Euler: ah :)
    Tarmel Udimo: ah
    Tarmel Udimo: like Sabat mater
    Wol Euler: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles.
Tarmel Udimo: not sure if it goes with roast onion, but maybe it does
Adelene Dawner hmms, and thinks she is finally getting the hang of this Art Deco thing on the other screen... ^.^
    Gaya Ethaniel: Art Deco thing?
    Wol Euler: mm?
Tarmel Udimo: you're always working aren't you adelene?
Adelene Dawner: Latest gig - doing a sim in Art Deco style, which I've never done before. And... well, not *always*, but... I like it. It's fun. ^.^
Tarmel Udimo: yeah me too, playing in SL that is, makes one feel very god-like, building
    Adelene Dawner: :D
Gaya Ethaniel: I'd like to see that sim when it's finished if possible.
Wol Euler: oh oh oh, let me point you at a lovely video. Nine minutes of beauty, with a sting in the tale.
    Wol Euler: http://vimeo.com/3365942
Wol Euler: give yourselves a Friday treat.
    Tarmel Udimo: looking
Wol Euler: that'll be SL in about five more years. Maybe.
    Gaya Ethaniel: oh that's a prim :P
Tarmel Udimo: yes i'd like to be able to build like that:-)
    Wol Euler nods.
Gaya Ethaniel: He's applying textures :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Hey Wol that's so SL.
    Adelene Dawner waaaaants.
    Wol Euler: heheheheh

Apropos building, Ade distributes pictures of her work with ThreeDee at the Miami Dade College sim.

    Adelene Dawner gave you Deco.
    Gaya Ethaniel: Thanks Adele.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Wol Euler: ty ade, I'll have a look this evening, after work.
    Tarmel Udimo: thanks ade
Adelene Dawner: Ok - it's nothing big, just four shots.
Wol Euler: oh, I didn't open it, assumed it would be prims :)
    Adelene Dawner: Nope.
Tarmel Udimo: I definately want too:-)
Wol Euler: ooh, ziggurat style :)
    Gaya Ethaniel likes the snaps.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Adelene Dawner: Also, the main building (and perhaps the others, eventually) is scripted to change colors. :D
Gaya Ethaniel: That's Wol for the video.
Adelene Dawner: They said 'blue' and we said 'what shade' and they said 'doesn't matter, it seems like we use a different one every day', and, man, you don't *say* stuff like that to me... :D
    Gaya Ethaniel: That sounds amazing.
Gaya Ethaniel: What would trigger the change?
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: nice work, the atmosphere is very Miami Beach-ish.
Adelene Dawner: You'll have to come see sometime, Gaya. I built a control panel, so they can set the saturation, max and minimum hue, and the darkness of each type of element, and then the script changes the hue randomly (but not too much at any one change) every 5 minutes or so.
Tarmel Udimo: wow that's a different look
    Wol Euler: ooooh
Gaya Ethaniel: I will definitely visit Adele :)
Adelene Dawner grins geekily at Wol.
    Adelene Dawner: and at Gaya.
Gaya Ethaniel: I've seen a similar thing but it is a HUD attached to a robot suit.
Wol Euler: actually there's somebody there right now. Is that you?
    Adelene Dawner: Yep.
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: where else but SL could that question and reply make sense?
    Gaya Ethaniel giggles.
Tarmel Udimo: did you go there wol?
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Wol Euler: not yet :) but I looked on the Map
Gaya Ethaniel goes and pays 'Adele' a visit.
Gaya Ethaniel: Is it open or closed?
Tarmel Udimo: how do you find it on the map?
Adelene Dawner: It's open. I'll tp you all, one minute.
Wol Euler: well, shall we declare the session closed and adjourn to the College?
    Gaya Ethaniel: ok :)
    Tarmel Udimo: yep ;-)
    Wol Euler bangs her gavel.
