The Guardian for this meeting was Adams Rubble. The comments are by Adams Rubble.
I arrived first and was soon joined by Pema and then buddha
Adams Rubble: Good morning Pema :)
Pema Pera: Hi Adams!
Adams Rubble: Hello buddha :)
Pema Pera: Hi Bud!
buddha Nirvana: Hi pem:)
Adams Rubble: That's such a great avatar buddha :)
buddha Nirvana: yea, i like it too:)
Pema Pera: indeed!
PaB Celebration
Pema Pera: Thanks, Adams, for your suggestions concerning the PaB celebrations, one and a half week from now
Pema Pera: it's a nice idea to all go to the old tea house
Adams Rubble: As a group we seem to be a bit slow with ideas :)
Pema Pera: well, I got a crazy idea myself . . . .
Adams Rubble: I think it would be nice for the newer guardians to get a taste of the teahouse
Adams Rubble: oh?
Adams Rubble trying to imagine how Pema would come up with a crazy idea
Pema Pera: . . . . I would like to attend all 28 sessions, for a full week, during the last week of the first year of PaB :)
Adams Rubble: haha
Adams Rubble giggles in RL
Pema Pera: starting Thursday, March 26
Pema Pera: and then through April 1
buddha Nirvana: theres quite a gathering behind us, is that the kira cafe?
Adams Rubble hhands Pema some No-Doz
Pema Pera: no, that's the welcome center
Pema Pera: :-)
buddha Nirvana: ah ok:)
Pema Pera: that's why we get some newbies, just born, sometimes
Pema Pera: they come from LL's welcome center
Adams Rubble: yes
Pema Pera: Oh, I'll sleep in shifts, Adams :)
Pema Pera: it would be nice to see all guardians that way, at least all those that carry a weekly slot, and in addition all those that come at least once a week
Adams Rubble: It would add an incredible energy to PaB Pema
Adams Rubble: yes
Adams Rubble thinks not so crazy after all
Pema Pera: :-)
On to the Chronicles and blogs
Pema Pera: maybe writing PaB chronicles is the crazier of the two ideas :-)
Adams Rubble: hehe
Adams Rubble: that was yoour idea too as I remember. hehe
Pema Pera scratches his head, wondering what Adams is talking about
Adams Rubble: It has been a good experience for me though
Adams Rubble: haha Pema
Pema Pera: in what way, Adams?
Adams Rubble: I have found things I long forgotten and others I had completely missed
Adams Rubble: sometimes you said things to me I did not understand then but which I can understand now
Adams Rubble: and it has kept me using this avatar
Pema Pera: I experience the same when I go over old notes of what Stim tried to tell me, oh, ten years or more ago :-)
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I gave up trying to read my blog
Pema Pera: hahaha
Adams Rubble: except for selective moments
Pema Pera enjoys seeing Adams in the same predicament as all of us: do we have time today to read Adams' blog?
Pema Pera: *Adams'
Pema Pera: writing a blog is one thing, but then reading it again is a whole other task :)
Adams Rubble: hehe
Pema Pera: how long would it take? Ten entries an hour?
Pema Pera: That would add up to more than 24 hours!
Pema Pera handing Adams some no-doz
Adams Rubble: I think more than 24 hours
Adams Rubble: 270 posts
Pema Pera: ah, you also like to think and reflect on them, haha, yes, then more
Adams Rubble: hmmm
buddha leaves us
buddha Nirvana: C u later Pema, Adams :)
Adams Rubble: bye buddha
Pema Pera contemplates the challenges to read the whole PaB wiki . . .
Pema Pera: bye buddha!
Pema Pera: that would take more like a week, I guess
Adams Rubble: Yes. I have read a good number of the sessions through December
Pema Pera: (without sleeping :)
Pema Pera: from the beginning, Adams?
Adams Rubble: it takes me two days for a month if I can spend about 8 hours on it
Pema Pera: wow!!
Adams Rubble: a day
Pema Pera: 8 hours per day or 8 hours in two days?
Adams Rubble: But I am going to let the scribes speak for January on
Adams Rubble: yes Pema
Pema Pera: good idea!
Adams Rubble: maybe I am a slow reader
Pema Pera: yes to which one?
Adams Rubble: two days 8 hours each
Adams Rubble: but that includes lifting content
Pema Pera: oh no, not slow at all: a month has well over a hundred sessions! So typically more than a hundred hours of chatting; and even though we can read much faster than we can type, I would guess that speed up things by a factor of five or so -- leaving still twenty hours
Pema Pera: So 16 hours with the heavy lifting is fast!
Pema Pera is very impressed, contemplating Adams with a candle and a laptop, working away in an attic somewhere . . . .
Adams Rubble: I have not been able to see too much in the way of general patterns
Pema Pera: . . . with all the heavy lifting
Adams Rubble: Have you seen my picture on the guardian page?
Pema Pera: where?
Adams Rubble: on the wiki "about guardians"
Pema Pera: ah, information -> about guardians
Pema Pera: hahahahahaha
Pema Pera: exactly the image I had in mind!
Adams Rubble: :)
Pema Pera: no, I hadn't seen that one yet
Pema Pera: perhaps you can add it to the chat log for today?
Adams Rubble: did you notice the book next to my hand?
Pema Pera: ah!!
Pema Pera: now I did
Pema Pera: I first focused on your calligraphy :)
Adams Rubble: hehe
Pema Pera: what a lovely picture
Adams Rubble imagines writing the Chronicles in calligraphic writing
Pema Pera: hard to read the text; is it in Latin?
Adams Rubble: That part came with the desk. I haven;t looked closely. hehe
Adams Rubble: Stim's book I had to provide myself :)
Pema Pera: :-)
Pema Pera trying to remember what Play as Being could be in Latin
Pema Pera: "I play" is "ludo" if I remember correctly
Adams Rubble: Hello Qt
Pema Pera: like in "homo ludens"
Pema Pera: Hi Qt!
Qt Core: hi all
Pema Pera: and Being must be something with "esse", to be, like in "essential"
Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble trying to remember conjugations
Qt arrives
Pema Pera: Good to see you again, Qt!
Qt Core: ty, it is a nice place to be (and there are nice people too)
Pema Pera: thank you, Qt, yes, we think so too :)
Adams Rubble: yes :)
Pema Pera: we've been very lucky with the people who we have been gathering here
Qt Core: where could i have chatted with two humans a winged tiger and a 25 meters long dragon ;-)
Pema Pera: hehe, yes
Pema Pera: the funny thing is, we've never advertised our existence in any particular way
Pema Pera: it has all been word to mouth
Qt Core: excellent
Pema Pera: For Kira, in contrast, we do send out notices, lots of them
Adams Rubble: or stumbling in :)
Pema Pera: but PaB is more under the radar
Pema Pera: Play as Being = PaB
Pema Pera: yes
Qt Core: so even if people don't like it they wont disrupt it in respect of their friend, good policy
Pema Pera: yes, generally people who don't quite fit in here either don't come back after a few visits, or they adapt to the atmosphere
Pema Pera: remarkably, that has worked well for a whole year now!
Pema Pera: apart from a few very obvious grievers, with loud music etc, we never had to send anyone away
Qt Core: me too, i think i'm a little less ingrained in the meditative things but i like here nonetheless
Pema Pera: yes, not everybody here is particularly involved with contemplation or meditation
Pema Pera: in fact, starting with science is a great angle too
Pema Pera: and enough in itself
Qt Core: but i'm interested in talking about mind and how to use it (or at least mine), so not very different
Pema Pera: ah, sorry, RL breakfast is calling, I'm afraid -- have to switch worlds! Good seeing you both again!
Pema Pera: sure, Qt, I look forward to continuing our conversation
Pema Pera: bfn
Pema goes away
Adams Rubble: oh my, I missed Pema leaving
Qt Core: just a couple sec ago
Adams Rubble: yes, I thought he was going to talk to for a while :)
Adams Rubble: Breakfast must have been very pressing :)
Qt Core: maybe he was really hungry ;-)
Adams Rubble: hehe
Adams Rubble: yes
Qt Core: no meditation could be done then
Adams Rubble: He seemes to have left in less than 9 seconds
Adams Rubble: Wasthe ssession with the dragon your first session Qt?
Qt Core: no, but all in all i've been there les then 10 times
We are interrupted by an avatar who declines my notecard and runs away. Qt and I chat about programming and cooking and meditation
Adams Rubble: ah, that's quite a few :)
Adams Rubble: Sorry, I was wondering if anyone had talked to you about the 9 seconds
Qt Core: yes
Adams Rubble: He waited for the notecard, then declined it and took off
Adams Rubble: One couuld at least read the card first :)
Qt Core: i think i already do something like that when i stop for a moment to work and regroup ideas, not just the work ones
Adams Rubble nods
Qt Core: ohh, yes, a little rude, then
Adams Rubble: yes, the stopping is the idea
Qt Core: i;m a programmer so having some control of my mind is quite needed
Adams Rubble: ah, yes
Adams Rubble: Some people have said that is like meditation
Qt Core: when nobody interrupt you and you can focus yes
Adams Rubble: I have only did a little and for me it was just stressful :)
Qt Core: for me the stress is not doing it ;-)
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: Then you must be good at it :)
Qt Core: like writing docs, teaching to colleagues, and such
Qt Core: don't know, i only think i give it more mental resources
Qt Core: i think that especially now that i have some family problems and i feel i'm less productive
Adams Rubble: Sorry to hear that
Qt Core: it happens
Adams Rubble: I am a believer in the idea we must exercise all parts of our brain and I think programming sits in an unused part of mine
Adams Rubble: yes
Qt Core: many human activities reqiore planning and programming is just one of them, even cooking has the same issues
Adams Rubble: yes
Qt Core: (i had to choose between programming and cooking as a study path and career)
Adams Rubble: interesting choice :)
Adams Rubble: I would be in trouble with that one myself because I am not good at either
Qt Core: i was egoist and i chose programming (i don't like the idea of cooking and don't eat it)
Adams Rubble: I am good at the eating part. hehe
Adams Rubble: It is not the prganizational part of programming that is the problem for me
Qt Core: mmm, i just realized that i never checled if there are places and resources about cooking here in sl
Adams Rubble: I am sure there are many :)
Qt Core: oh yes, i have yet to find something not present in sl ;-)
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: Specifics maybe missing but not general things
Qt Core: even this place... thinking about the nature of reality in the most irreal place ... ironic
Adams Rubble: You might not find anything about cooking spinach but cetainly cooking vegetables
Adams Rubble: hehe
Scath joins us
Adams Rubble: Hello Scath :)
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello adams, QT
Qt Core: hi Scath
Adams Rubble: We were just talking about programming and cooking and SL and meditation :)
Scathach Rhiadra: a nice combination:)
Qt Core: the simplesr case... programming the microwave owen ;-)
Adams Rubble: hehe
Qt Core: sorry, can't resist that one
Adams Rubble: That one I can do :)
Qt Core: i don't have it
Scathach Rhiadra: a microwave?
Qt Core: and lately i'm amused my one of my anties, a quite traditional one learning how to use it she even go to a course!
Adams Rubble: I have experienced the feeling of some tasks being like meditation but then I find I still need to stop from them to or I start to burn myself out
Qt Core: aunties*
Adams Rubble: Technology can be frightening someties
Adams Rubble: sometimes
Scathach Rhiadra: mmm, repetitive tasks can be useful for meditation
Adams Rubble: Like trying to understand Being it can seem much harder than it realy is
Qt Core: like breathing The repetitive task
Adams Rubble can't believe I juust said that :)
Scathach Rhiadra: :)
Adams Rubble: no understanding technology
Adams Rubble: the fear of it
Qt Core: i thinks in many cases is just being incredulous that something could be done so easy
Qt Core: and thinking about all the thinks that need to happen to do it
Adams Rubble: One of my jobs is to hold people's hands that are fearful
We had a visit by a pair of Czech speaking avatars that I removed from the log
Adams Rubble: OK. It has been nice talking to you but I must go :)
Adams Rubble: Thank you for coming :)
Qt Core: same here Adams
Scathach Rhiadra: I must go too, a short visit, bye QT
Adams Rubble: take care :)
