The Guardian for this meeting was Fefonz Quan. The comments are by Fefonz Quan.

It was a long straggle to get into this session. 2 hours before it, i tried desperately to get into the TSK workshop that i long waited for, and just couldn't log into Second Life. Due to the fact that in this session my mission was to talk about the Malta retreat experiences as a part of the malta retreat theme sessions, i felt it is more urgent than usual for me to get inworld. so when i managed to get in, even for a very slowly rezzing Pabillion 30 minutes before the session starts, i left my avatar there just for sure.

My away and numbing avatar hence is the reason for the first strange lines of conversation, before the start bell rang:

    Liza Deischer: hi Fefonz
    Liza Deischer: sleep well :-)
    Liza Deischer: hi Alf
    Liza Deischer: hi
    Alfred Kelberry pokes fef
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

    Liza Deischer: :-)
Liza Deischer: he couldn't get into sl
    Liza Deischer: so came earlier
    Alfred Kelberry: aww..
Liza Deischer: and has fallen asleep
Liza Deischer: of all the hard work I guess
Alfred Kelberry: ok, let him take a nap then *speaks quietly*
Liza Deischer: I mean the hard for trying to get in
    Liza Deischer: shhhhh
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: oops, he woke up :)
    Liza Deischer: wb Fefonz
    Alfred Kelberry: hi, fef :)
    Fefonz Quan: Hey all :)
    Fefonz Quan: gfdgfdgd
Alfred Kelberry: any dreams to share? :)
Liza Deischer: ah yes, Fefonz, right :-)
Fefonz Quan: well, i was away, not sleeping :)
Alfred Kelberry: ah, alright then :)
    Liza Deischer: it looked differently:-)
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
    Alfred Kelberry: true :)
Alfred Kelberry: have you been to malta for the retreat, fef?
    --BELL--

To continue my connection problem, i have problems seeing some of the sentences i type appear on the chat window, so in a way i will be writing in the dark for most of the session. occasionly, getting annoyed with it, i just hit some random keys to see fi they appear, hence the fdsfdsfdfs parts :)

    Alfred Kelberry: oi, pema
    Pema Pera: hi everybody!

SophiaSharon Larnia: oh Fefonz cant log on

Theme starts - the description of my Malta retreat experiences

Fefonz Quan: So, it's great to see all of you here, and it was great to meet the Malta people in RL
Agatha Macbeth: No such thing as a full sim Soph
    SophiaSharon Larnia: shrugs
Wol Euler: well, there is but we arent there yet. only 17 of us in bieup
    Wol Euler listens quietly
Fefonz Quan: the RL, coming in the middle of the work days routine, was like a breeze of fresh air in the hot summer
    --BELL--
Fefonz Quan: It was so good to get out in the airport and see the (partly) familiar faces
Fefonz Quan: and the new faces of those I didn't see yet, Mick, Ara, Yaku, Bert
    Mickorod Renard: :)
    Bertram Jacobus: :)
Fefonz Quan: SO from the start it made a celebration of please and peacefulness in the heart
Wol Euler: we hear you, fef, keep going
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
Fefonz Quan: The retreat place was very nice, a small and causy house on top of a hill, watching the green valley and the beautiful sea far ahead.
Fefonz Quan: It was a little challenging at first to adopt to the cold for me, but once we got some blankets and coats it was ok
Fefonz Quan: (and some difficulties also got their contemplative advantages...)
    Pema Pera: :)
Fefonz Quan: the atmosphere, from the first session, was very causy and comfortable, although many people were new to each other, at least in RL
Fefonz Quan: and i found that the first session was a little like a continuation of the last session of the previous retreat I've been in in August
Fefonz Quan: I hope i won't tell you again what you've heard from other participants...
    Pema Pera: oh no
Wol Euler: tell us your bits, then :)
Pema Pera: nice to hear from your perspective anyway!
Wol Euler: people have been careful not to tell each others' stories, so far
Mickorod Renard: I like to re live it anyway Fef
Bertram Jacobus: yes. all these memories from each are very nice ...
    Pema Pera: hear hear
Fefonz Quan: I really liked the first dinner too, when we all got to the hotel and got some food together and just sat and enjoyed ourselves (and i was very hungry too, after a long day that begun at 4 am at the airport
    Mickorod Renard: that was nice
    Fefonz Quan: )
Fefonz Quan: than on the next day, we begun to 'dive into it" more fully
Mickorod Renard: I guess there was some nursing of the new retreaters(like me)
Fefonz Quan: On that day we also had some nice exercises outside teh ranch, in the valley and along the trees and running and waiving my legs sillywise down the road , all fell very free and calm and joyful
    --BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus sneaks to bed, night!
    Fefonz Quan: night Yaku!
    Mickorod Renard: nite nite Yaku
    Eos Amaterasu: zzzz....
    Wol Euler: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Schlaf gut Yaku
Fefonz Quan: On that evening we had a very nice dinner at a Pizza nearby the hotel, where some guys enjoyed the wifi connection, those that had laptop on them :)
Fefonz Quan: the next day was the 'silent' day, meaning that we didn't speak (mostly didn't) till the evening meal.
Fefonz Quan: I enjoyed it very much, and found it very calming, peaceful, and also open the mind and spirit by saving the 'directional' energy speech sometimes have, and allowing me to be more open to the other noises, colors, smells and tastes that surrounds us
Fefonz Quan: i found it very easy not to speak, and had some of the most deepest experiences of the retreat that day.
    Fefonz Quan: fdjskfs
Lia Rikugun: how was this likeif i may ask?
Lia Rikugun: what kind of experience
    Bleu Oleander: what is fdjskfs?
Pema Pera: (an easy way of not speaking perhaps :-)
    Liza Deischer: (a bad connection)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Fefonz Quan: right on the beginning, in the first meditation, i sat for about 30-50 minutes in silent, and didn't feel any urge to get up, walk, speak or do anything rather than just be.
Bertram Jacobus: sounds very nice ... :-)
Mickorod Renard: I thought you were asleep
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: (laughs)
    Liza Deischer: :-)
    Bertram Jacobus: (feels happy) ;-)
Fefonz Quan: that , when i moved, stretch a little and change sit, it was almost like those 'decisions' are taken by themselves, without me 'pushing ' ,the m out
    Lia Rikugun: interesting
Fefonz Quan: (the gibrish is when i see my messages are not appearing and i try to bubble something and press enter... not very useful i would say)
Bleu Oleander: (thanks, thought it might be some new internet slang)
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
    Fael Illyar bubbles happily.
    Wol Euler: :)
Fefonz Quan: then i got up and walked outside, , most of the people already took of to walk around, and i stood in the sun, enjoyed it, and did some kung-fu practices for 20 minutes, while still including it in the practice
    Fefonz Quan: d
Fefonz Quan: (i wrote a lot before the 'd', hope it got through)
Eos Amaterasu: [13:40] Fefonz Quan: then i got up and walked outside, , most of the people already took of to walk around, and i stood in the sun, enjoyed it, and did some kung-fu practices for 20 minutes, while still including it in the practice
    Fefonz Quan: good!
Pema Pera: (sorry, Fef, work related interruption; will leave av here, back in ten minutes or so, my apologies!)
Fefonz Quan: so all along that day was very exciting and inspiring.
Fefonz Quan: then we got back to the hotel, and gathered to eat dinner and broke the silence, yet i felt that the 'magic' of the day some how diffused a little than, having been in the city in a restaurant mood, which was for me out of the retreat mood a little.

Mission impossible on the streets of the silent city, starring the baroness Lia and myself :)

    Then there's something cooking there.

Fefonz Quan: Though, the restaurant was a very nice one, in the 'silent city' that is very beautiful, with sculptures buildings and architecture, like taken from a scene of James Bond film, when they chase each other on those exotic places.
    --BELL--
Fefonz Quan: So, what can one do more that playing secrets agents on the run on the streets - as Lia and I did on the way back to the Hotel :-)
    Lia Rikugun: secret agents.. :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Agatha Macbeth: There was a Bond between you
Lia Rikugun: the whole city was almost destroyed afterwards...
Lia Rikugun: they just should not have attacked us
    Lia Rikugun: :)
Fefonz Quan: Thursday was another kind , speaking now, but still with a lot of focus and concentration quality.
    Lia Rikugun: but mission accomplished
    Fefonz Quan: exactly Lia!
Fefonz Quan: and i also had the pleasure to cook the lunch soup for all the guys (and girsl), which i enjoyed very much!

    Eos Amaterasu: A++ soup!
arabella Ella: Hiya apologies for being late
    Mickorod Renard: yummy
    Fefonz Quan: _/!\_
arabella Ella: Hey Fef when can we have some of your soup again please?
    Bleu Oleander: recipe?
Fefonz Quan: Any time we get together eAra :)
    arabella Ella: great!
Bertram Jacobus: two smiles : one for ara arriving and one for fefonzֲ´ soup ... :-)
    arabella Ella: :)
Fefonz Quan: would love to give the recipe, maybe in times with better connection Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Fefonz Quan: (or on the email group if you ask)
Fefonz Quan: I don't recall exactly the order of the following meditations, but i liked the one considering time, and hope to get more into it.
Fefonz Quan: and we had very exciting visualizing exercises, taking a mind trip to beautiful places together and apart at the same time
Fefonz Quan: and, i am glad to say, one of the exercises was even following my ideas, since somehow people pushed me to suggest one since i was sitting accidentally on the director's chair, so i couldn't (or wouldn't :)) refuse
    Wol Euler: :)
Bertram Jacobus: that chair was nice! :o)
Fefonz Quan: as they (should )_ say - be careful with what you sit on! :)
arabella Ella: but it was a beautiful experience Fefonz honestly!
    Wol Euler nods.
    Mickorod Renard: yes
Bertram Jacobus: and your "cut!" and "action!" - directives as well ... :o)
Fefonz Quan: So, all in all it was a wonderful, inspiring, pleasant and joyful adventure
    Fefonz Quan: ah, yes :)
    Bertram Jacobus: hehe :o)
Fefonz Quan: and we had a great dinner at Ara's wonderful home on Friday night
Mickorod Renard: it was certainly a nice adventure
    arabella Ella smiles
    Pema Pera: (back again!)
Fefonz Quan: So, guess i have more things to tell but i think for the time i have here i should stop here.
    Bertram Jacobus: (wb pema) :-)
Mickorod Renard: a nice account of the week Fef,,fantastic
    Pila Mulligan: thanks Fef :)
Fefonz Quan: And i am thankful to all the participants for being there and making it such a great experience
Alfred Kelberry: what kind of soup did you make, fef?
Bertram Jacobus: thank you fef ! ... :-)
Bleu Oleander: thanks for your thoughts Fef!
arabella Ella: thanks Fef I am glad to have got the last bit but I will read the log later
    Lia Rikugun: thank you fef
    Liza Deischer: thanks flf
    Liza Deischer: fef
Fefonz Quan: Sweet potatoes with pumpkin, ginger and coconut milk, Alf
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, thanks for trying so hard and getting here Fefonz!
Lia Rikugun: (tiotoeing out, my bed is calling me :)
    arabella Ella: nite Lia
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    Mickorod Renard: nite nite Lia
Wol Euler: thank you fef, that was great
    Wol Euler: bye lia
    Agatha Macbeth: C ya Lia
Alfred Kelberry: fef, ah, "ginger" - this is your secret ingredient :)
Fefonz Quan: and surely if you have any questions, i am here to answer them

Description is done, and more open conversation continues

Alfred Kelberry: i really like your description of the silent day - sounds very calming and easy going
Bleu Oleander: besides being in a different place, what was different about this retreat?
Mickorod Renard: I was wondering Fef,,if as a non first timer on a retreat , did you find it slow to move at first because of the first timers need to be introduced to procedures?
Fefonz Quan: No, not at all mick
    Mickorod Renard: great,,ty
    Pema Pera: indeed!
Fefonz Quan: in a way, slowing down is a good way to start a retreat :)
    --BELL--
Pema Pera: there were people who had done the first retreat, some who had done the second, and some who had done both first and second, and others who were new -- but it seemed to make rather little difference!
Alfred Kelberry: fef, did you imagine a specific place in your visualizing experiment?
Bertram Jacobus: sry - iֲ´ll leave - ty fef again and all - have a good time - and may all beings be happy please (!) ... :-)
    arabella Ella: nite Bert :)
    Pema Pera: bye Bert!
    Liza Deischer: bey Bert
Wol Euler: bye bert, schlaf gut
    Fefonz Quan: Good night Bert!
    Bleu Oleander: bye bert
    Bertram Jacobus: ty ! ... :-) again ...
Agatha Macbeth: Have fun Bert, behave yourself :)
    Bertram Jacobus: lol
    Mickorod Renard: nite Bert
    Eos Amaterasu: /||\
Fefonz Quan: I found Bert quite well behaving, so no worry Agatha :)
Fael Illyar: good night Bert :)
    Fefonz Quan: thanks MIck
    Agatha Macbeth: grins
    Mickorod Renard: thankyou Fef
Bleu Oleander: bfn all, thank you Fef!

    Liza Deischer: bye Pema
    Magic Leimes: Goodnight everyone...bye..x
Fael Illyar: Have good evening Pema :)
    Fefonz Quan: bye Pema
    Liza Deischer: bye MAgic
Pema Pera: Thank you very much Fef, for fighting the SL troubles, and hanging in there to talk with us!
    Mickorod Renard: bye Magik
Agatha Macbeth: C ya Pem, Magic
    arabella Ella: nite Pema
    Fefonz Quan: my pleasure
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye to everyone who is leaving
    arabella Ella: nite Magic
Mickorod Renard: I loved the way we all got on together
arabella Ella: so Fef are our homes very different from yours?
arabella Ella: since we are both in the Med?
Fefonz Quan: well, internally not so different, mostly not the neighbourhood you are in Ara
    arabella Ella: ah
Fefonz Quan: yet, the cisty we spent most of the week in, is quite different from what we have here
    Fefonz Quan: quite*
    arabella Ella: yes
Fefonz Quan: much narrower streets, and different architecture
Pila Mulligan: were you able to fly directly to Malta, Fef, or did you have to connect somewhere?
Fefonz Quan: infact it is a little more similar to arab cities
arabella Ella: yes Mdina and Rabat have a lot of Arabic architectural influence i must admit
Fefonz Quan: no, connected through Rome on the way there, and through the snowy Zurich on the way back
    Liza Deischer: need to go
    Liza Deischer: see you
    arabella Ella: nite Liza
    Fefonz Quan: bye Liza
    Mickorod Renard: nite Liza
Wol Euler: bye liza, take care
Fefonz Quan: had the chance to fly over the Alps during they time, it was beautiful
    Fefonz Quan: day time*
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye Liza
arabella Ella: I love to fly over the alps in good weather it is a spectacular experience
Mickorod Renard: my return flight (both ways) was a total of ֲ£49
    arabella Ella: he he
    Fefonz Quan: wow, great MIck!
    Eos Amaterasu: !
Mickorod Renard: yea, almost as cheap as driving to work
    Fael Illyar: wow, that's cheap
arabella Ella: less than a bus trip Mick
Fefonz Quan: well, infact you flew local within the British empire, haven't you?
    Mickorod Renard: thats true
arabella Ella: courtesy of a no frills airline right?
Eos Amaterasu: stayed on the left side all the way
    Mickorod Renard: ryan air
arabella Ella: i always thought we drove in the middle Eos
    Wol Euler: true!
    Eos Amaterasu: you certainly did!
Fefonz Quan: ryan like 'rian pour charger?
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye all!! See you later :)
    Mickorod Renard: bye Sophia s
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye SSL
    Wol Euler: byesharon
    arabella Ella: bye Sophia Sharon
    Fefonz Quan: bye SSL :)
Fefonz Quan: just saw the 'Not a buddhist' sign now Agatha, nice :)
Agatha Macbeth: Now that's what I call 'lag'....
Fefonz Quan: in a way a busshist might write it too about himself
    Fefonz Quan: buddhist*
    Agatha Macbeth: A Busshist?
    Agatha Macbeth: Who's Bussha?
    Eos Amaterasu: For Agatha: http://www.amazon.com/What-Makes-You.../dp/1590304063
Fefonz Quan: that's not lag, that's 'not paying attention'
Fael Illyar raises her hand 'I'll volunteer!'
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh, right
    Agatha Macbeth: Volunteer for what?
Fefonz Quan: it is like 'this is not a pipe' in a way
    Fael Illyar: Buddha
    --BELL--
    Fael Illyar: Bussha
    Agatha Macbeth: Both?
Fael Illyar: meh, double typo :D
Fael Illyar: try to write Bussha and Buddha comes out
Agatha Macbeth: Try to write Buddha then
Fael Illyar: That's how the other one came out :)
    Agatha Macbeth: DOH!!!!
Fefonz Quan: bussha, the enlighfen o ne
Mickorod Renard: is that traditional dress for a Bussha?..I may want to join
Agatha Macbeth: The typo one, rather
Agatha Macbeth: Wouldn't fit you Mick :)
Fael Illyar: maybe it is :)
Eos Amaterasu: Fef, what was hard (if anything?)
    Agatha Macbeth: Too much muscle
Fefonz Quan: what was hard where eos?
Agatha Macbeth: Hard? Have I missed something?
Mickorod Renard: looks like it may stretch
    Eos Amaterasu: at retreat
Agatha Macbeth: It needs to stretch with my butt Mick :)
    Mickorod Renard: he he
Mickorod Renard: maybe you had best avoid Eos's question
Fefonz Quan: well, considering the retreat time be monday to Friday, ..... The cold was hard at first, as the sprinkling NOT hot water in the hotel
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Fefonz Quan: and also for me the dinner after the silent day was a little hard, filling a little out of place and in such contrast to the atmosphere on the day itself
Mickorod Renard: it was a lil decadant
Agatha Macbeth: Decadent is fun :)
    Wol Euler: indeed
    Agatha Macbeth: or even decadant
Eos Amaterasu: could have been more decadent: I didn't order the strawberry mousse
Fefonz Quan: yes, that is not what bothered me, more that we had no 'closure' for the silient day, it just faded away...
Mickorod Renard: I ordered something like that
Wol Euler nods. I know hwat you mean, fef.
Agatha Macbeth: What about the Canadian moose?
Eos Amaterasu: yes, pre-dinner discussion in same spot, at the house, would have worked better
Eos Amaterasu: hard to talk over dinner
Wol Euler makes a note for October.
    Mickorod Renard: thats true Fef
    Fefonz Quan: why MIck?
Agatha Macbeth: (Order moose for October.....)
Mickorod Renard: erm,,lost to which bit u may be asking about Fef
Fefonz Quan: [14:20] Mickorod Renard: maybe you had best avoid Eos's question
    Mickorod Renard: ahhh
Mickorod Renard: just some brit humour
Eos Amaterasu wonders what was behind Mick's question
Mickorod Renard: in relation to Eos asking what was hard
    Fefonz Quan: yep.
Agatha Macbeth: We're not STILL on about 'hard'?
Wol Euler: I fear we are, aggers.
    Eos Amaterasu: droop it
Mickorod Renard: we could change it to stiff
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh boy......
    Agatha Macbeth: groans
Eos Amaterasu: Mick is avoiding the question :-)
