    Calvino Rabeni: Hello, Paradise!
Paradise Tennant: Hiya Cal was not expecting to see you tonight .. you made it somewhere there is wifi :)
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, my train connections went well today, and I got settled into my hotel
Calvino Rabeni: I tried to log in from the train to earlier meetings today, but no wifi
Paradise Tennant: nods hotel connections are much better where are you tonight ?
    Calvino Rabeni: perfectly fine
    --BELL--
Paradise Tennant: canada won the gold in hockey .. we had bedlam here .. very loud .. beyond very loud ! :)
Calvino Rabeni: I like to visit "Bedlam" ... althought not to live there. :)
Paradise Tennant: well let's just say there was joy in the streets.. took the dog out for a walk and he promptly turned around and headed straight home alittle too noisy for him :)
Calvino Rabeni: The last time I say dancing in the streets was the night that Obama won the US Presidency
Paradise Tennant: yes saw that on tv .. electric excitement . liked the interviews with his grandmother in africa best .. makes the world seems so small
Calvino Rabeni: I've been to the occasional mass revel, but it is not a common part of daily life
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Paradise Tennant: been working on a t shirt for pab .. need some guidance
Calvino Rabeni: Great! How is it shaping up?
Paradise Tennant: we were going to use the first verse of this poem :
Paradise Tennant: Beyond the beliefs of any one religion there is the truth of the human spirit.
    Paradise Tennant: by Tarthan Tulku
Paradise Tennant: sadly will not all go on the shirt
Paradise Tennant: wondering if .just beyond the beliefs would work what do you think
Calvino Rabeni: It reminds me of the poem by Rumi
Paradise Tennant: Beyond the beliefs of any one religion there is the truth of the human spirit. Beyond the power of nations, there is the power of the human heart. Beyond the ordinary mind, the power of wisdom, love, and healing energy are at work in the universe. When we can find peace within our hearts, we contact these universal powers. This is our only hope. - Tarthang Tulku
Calvino Rabeni: I put it on my hovertext - how does it read?
Paradise Tennant: really rather beatiful in its entirety .. we found this framed on the wall in the farmhouse where we held the mediations on the Malta retreat .. quite a coincidence :)
Calvino Rabeni: I think you're justified in taking it as a confirmation :)
    Paradise Tennant: yes
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
    --BELL--
Paradise Tennant: so do you think beyond the beliefs will work .. really not much room for anything more .. and still be readable :)
Calvino Rabeni: At first I thought "not sure", but after looking at it for awhile, I now think "yes"
Calvino Rabeni: Will it be produced for both SL and RL
Paradise Tennant: Could maybe squeeze .. When we can find peace in our hearts .. though not sure that won't be too long
Paradise Tennant: well going to definitely do it for sl ..will be free to share
Paradise Tennant: can likely organize some rl ones too
Paradise Tennant: a variety of sizes I guess
Paradise Tennant: one sec going to pour more tea
    Calvino Rabeni: Hello JamesBailey
JamesBailey Zsun: hi just site seeing
JamesBailey Zsun: if i do not need to be here let me know
Calvino Rabeni: What brings you to this location?
JamesBailey Zsun: looking for area that lets me build and play with my inventory
Paradise Tennant: welcome james .. have you ever been to a playasbeing session before ?
Paradise Tennant: one sec .... I will give you a notecard .. and yes you can play with your inventory here :)
    JamesBailey Zsun: playasbeing session ???
JamesBailey Zsun: notecards are cool thanks
Paradise Tennant: these are recorded discussions which are posted on wiki site ..mostly about .. the mysteries of life really
Paradise Tennant: quite a nice group of people and some very accomplished builders !
    JamesBailey Zsun: really
Paradise Tennant: if you go to the website .. you can read some of the posted chat logs . an explanations of what the group is all about
    --BELL--
JamesBailey Zsun: I have some ideas to bulid some cool stuff
Paradise Tennant: there is also a great sand box called little blue that has a weekly builder's show and tell one sec will get you the landmark
    Calvino Rabeni: Good evening, Lawrence
    Lawrence Vyceratops: Hello!
    Paradise Tennant: hiya lawrence :)
Calvino Rabeni: By the way, I'm using the new 2.0 viewer for SL - very nice, it feels like a bit of an upgrade of the experience
JamesBailey Zsun: how do you upgrade the 2.0
Calvino Rabeni: It is interesting how the aesthetics of the viewer affect the feeling of being in SL
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Calvino Rabeni: On the http://secondlife.com/ site, under help and downloads, there is a link to download both the "beta" viewer and the old one.
Paradise Tennant: does it make it more laggy cal ?
Calvino Rabeni: It is smoother, more responsive, doesn't take as much space on the screen
Calvino Rabeni: No, I don't think the viewer can do much about lag
Paradise Tennant: how are you this eveing lawrence :)
Lawrence Vyceratops: I'm well. Thanks for asking :)
Paradise Tennant: well .. I am going to have to scoot at 8 pm .. we really have not touched on a pab topic .. was there anything .. anyone wanted to talk about ..
Calvino Rabeni: Sure, there's a big gap I think between the ideas of "mind" that are fostered in spiritual theories versus scientific theories, and the question is, ... well what about that ? :)
Calvino Rabeni: Five minutes should be enough, yes? :)
Paradise Tennant: smiles at cal .. that is a big question lol
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Paradise Tennant: five minutes not so enough
Paradise Tennant: think what the dalai lama is doing with his annual science symposiums are really a marriage of the spiritual and the materially scientific
Calvino Rabeni: Well, within 5 minutes, it's possible to do something worthwhile
Calvino Rabeni: If only to reaffirm it as a topic of personal interest and general importance
Paradise Tennant: well we could start ...
Calvino Rabeni: Of course we don't start at square one
Calvino Rabeni: and won't get to the end of it :)
Calvino Rabeni: but it is kind of nice being in the middle
Paradise Tennant: well .. piet was at one of the symposiums .. one sec have a quote here somewhere
Calvino Rabeni: To say "this is an important question" is to immediately beg the question - "why is that?"
Lawrence Vyceratops: Well, with David Bohm's implicate order and George Lakoff's metaphorical thought, it seems that science and philosophy of mind is merging.
Calvino Rabeni: That's an enticing merging, Law
    --BELL--
    Paradise Tennant: yes
Paradise Tennant: empirical science and intuitive understanding .. will always merge when both are right :)
Paradise Tennant: going to have catch up on my reading .. joting down the names .. thanks cal ..
Paradise Tennant: sneaks out quietly .. whispering thanks everyone :)
Calvino Rabeni: An understanding of "intuition" as a scientific subject might be in range before long
Lawrence Vyceratops: That would be interesting, I suppose.
Calvino Rabeni: What kind of things motivate you in study of the topic of Mind, Law?
Lawrence Vyceratops: Well, when I was about 7 years old, I was fascinated with time - movement of one moment to the next. I guess it's the curiosity that was built up from there.
Lawrence Vyceratops: I used to sit in the living room when no one was around and stare at the clock for who knows how long, just contemplating it all.
Lawrence Vyceratops: Which explains my fascination with analog clocks now...
Calvino Rabeni: :) I'm remembering my self at that age. And I do believe I did the same, watching the hands and wondering how much could happen between each "click" and the way it seemed to depend on attention
Calvino Rabeni: About that age I remember I took a clock apart and put it back together so the hands rotated counter-clockwise
JamesBailey Zsun: i am about to go but be fore i leave
Calvino Rabeni: Just to kind of get away from feeling boxed in by the convention
    Lawrence Vyceratops: Yes, James?
Calvino Rabeni: James, this is an open site for dialogue, you can come any meeting, 1 and 7 AM and PM in SLT
    JamesBailey Zsun: the time watching
JamesBailey Zsun: i have caught the clock many times standing still for two to three secounds
JamesBailey Zsun: it dose not sound like long but if you see it
JamesBailey Zsun: it boggles me every time
Lawrence Vyceratops: Yes, I've experienced that, but then, it happens all the time, not with clocks, per se, but with things that happen.
Lawrence Vyceratops: Like waiting in line, the time always seems longer.
Calvino Rabeni: Can you change that effect? Or put the time to good use...
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: Sorry guys, I have to go now too, Will disappear during this pause. BCNU.
    Lawrence Vyceratops: See ya, Cal.
