Wol Euler was guardian and commenter for this session.

    Wol Euler: hello calvino

    Calvino Rabeni: Wol, greetings

    Wol Euler: how's life?

Calvino Rabeni: Busy lately, a bit scattered

    Calvino Rabeni: And you?

Wol Euler: middling. Busy, and headache this morning

Calvino Rabeni: I have the same condition

    Wol Euler: synchronicity

Calvino Rabeni: Hmm, I'm thinking it would be good to do something about it

    Wol Euler smiles.

Wol Euler: I recommend Tiger Balm, an aspirin, and some fresh air

Wol Euler: sometimes works for me :)

    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: I was considering its mental origin, maybe unwinding it

Wol Euler: that is also a very good thing.

Wol Euler: want to consider it out loud, in public?

    Wol Euler: APHPB

Calvino Rabeni: There was a split between mind and body while I was trying to solve a computer problem I didn't want to look at or deal with

Calvino Rabeni: body's impulse was just to walk away, get moving on something else

    Wol Euler nods.

Calvino Rabeni: I kept looking at the screen

Calvino Rabeni: creating lots of tension in neck and shoulders

    Wol Euler: mmhmm

Calvino Rabeni: the image of the problem remains, even though I'm no longer there

Wol Euler: so it was caused by tension

Wol Euler: and probably bad posture too, that often follows tension for me

Calvino Rabeni: the problem remains, but the problem and its image are separate things

    Wol Euler: say more?

Calvino Rabeni: the situation physically exists as a condition in a computer at another location

Calvino Rabeni: the image is tied to a memory and a body feeling that is here and now

Calvino Rabeni: when I kind of "get inside" it, the feeling of energy in neck and shoulders kind of heats up, like it had tiger balm

Calvino Rabeni: I sort of like that feeling

    Wol Euler nods.

Wol Euler: virtual tiger balm, from the inside.

Calvino Rabeni: right, and then I feel head muscles I didn't feel before

Calvino Rabeni: the headache goes in and out of existence

    Wol Euler: ah!

Calvino Rabeni: I wouldn't say it is gone, but quite a bit more "fluid" in some way

Calvino Rabeni: Relaxation often works that way

    Wol Euler nods.

Calvino Rabeni: My other possible strategy was going to be - find something interesting and distracting to talk about

    Wol Euler laughs.

Wol Euler: well, I have prevented that!

    Wol Euler: sorry

Calvino Rabeni: as a topic, completly NOT the headache

    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: No, either could work fine as an analgesic

Calvino Rabeni: Yesterday I gave someone a lesson in SL camera control

    Wol Euler: mmmm?

Calvino Rabeni: she went from beginner to sub-expert in one lesson, so it was fun to do the instruction

    Wol Euler: :)

Wol Euler: and learning that is such a huge improvement in the quality of one's SL experience

Calvino Rabeni: Step by step, building skills, effective use of media and environment

    Calvino Rabeni: Yes indeed

    Wol Euler nods.

Calvino Rabeni: Today I was at a session (in RL) with a man who uses a contemplative or awareness-based teaching approach in groups

Calvino Rabeni: And it was interesting to move around different perspectives without naming them

    Wol Euler: mmhmm?

Calvino Rabeni: The "group intelligence" perspective where you get a synergy in a group

Calvino Rabeni: Good facilitators go with the flow but can used the unexpected mix of whatever the participants present

Calvino Rabeni: and one might say, it should be natural for the participants to do likewise

Calvino Rabeni: I mean, without thinking about it

Calvino Rabeni: However I think theres a kind of integrating attention

Calvino Rabeni: which is either there or not-there

    Wol Euler listens

Calvino Rabeni: You know the 2x2 matrix with the upper left quadrant the "known knowns"

    Wol Euler: yep :)

    Wol Euler: Johari?

Calvino Rabeni: What do you call that thingie anyway?

Wol Euler: when talking about oneself, one's attributes

Calvino Rabeni: So he wasn't thinking about the unknown knowns as different from the unknown unknowns

Calvino Rabeni: Until I pointed it out, then the unknown known became a K-K

    Wol Euler smiles.

Calvino Rabeni: Anyway, the interesting thing in a group is doing a kind of assembly

Wol Euler pictures the 2/2 grid expanding to become the upper quadrant of a bigger grid

Calvino Rabeni: with the knowns moving from one person to another

    Wol Euler: (sorry, please continue)

    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: OK, so consider there's an issue or problem in the mind of the group

Calvino Rabeni: Person A might hold the solution as an unknown known

    Wol Euler: !

Wol Euler: but they can't tell it because they don't know that they know it.

Calvino Rabeni: And person B might not know the solution, but have a positive emotional energy

    Calvino Rabeni: Right

Calvino Rabeni: And person C might notice that A has a hidden answer, and B has no answer but has the enthusuasm to unblock A

Calvino Rabeni: because, say, A's answer is hidden because of an emotional predisposition not to look for it -

    Wol Euler nods.

Calvino Rabeni: So person C can convey some of B's positive feeling to A, then A gets unblocked about it

Calvino Rabeni: Or perhaps C is also blocked, but gets a piece from A and from B and puts it together

Calvino Rabeni: since C is not really blocked, just didn't think to look in the direction A implied (but wouldn't pursue)

Calvino Rabeni: Anyway .. kind of complex dynamics that go on when people think together

    Wol Euler: mmhmm

Calvino Rabeni: This facilitator seemed pretty alert - I think I will enjoy the workshop

    Wol Euler smiles.

    Wol Euler: good, I'm glad.

Wol Euler: I look foward to future reports, this sounds very interesting

    Wol Euler: .

Wol Euler: I'm afraid I will have to leave punctually at the hour, work is calling (literally)

Calvino Rabeni: Often I've found these late night (for me) pab sessions to be rather relaxing and unwinding at the end of the day that led up to them

    Wol Euler smiles.

Wol Euler: as the 1pm sessions often are for me, too :)

    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: Have a good day at work, Wol :)

Wol Euler: thank you, Calvino. Have a pleasant evening, I hope your headache is receding?

    Calvino Rabeni: Gone :)

    Wol Euler: excellent.

    Calvino Rabeni: _/!\_

    Calvino Rabeni: take care

    Wol Euler: goodnight, sleep well.
