Pila Mulligan: generally, if your feet are about the same width apart as your shoulders it is as suggested in tai chi
Pila Mulligan: but to me the best part is to have your butt as if sitting in a saddle
Pila Mulligan: rolling the top of your thigh bone in the hip socket
Eliza Madrigal: that sounds like something one couldnt do too long?
Pila Mulligan: so the pelvis is forward
Pila Mulligan: it is if you let it be comfortable
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, okay... gotcha.. similar to some yoga
Pila Mulligan: it becomes more so over time too
Pila Mulligan: yes
Eliza Madrigal: okay, I can picture that one

Pila Mulligan: it wants to *wake* up too may sound more appropriate in the PaB context, but I was thinking of how the chi finds its way through the spine by practice and that kind of growth

Pila Mulligan: it can only insist so much though, you have to help it guide you
Eliza Madrigal: even in the pauses at times... stretching... checking posture... though I've often done that

Calvino Rabeni: There is a certain lengthening of the spine that I feel, has to arise from within it
Pila Mulligan: to me that is the actual value of the 9 second pause

Pila Mulligan: not the only value, but most actual to me

Calvino Rabeni: I visualize, the sacrum dropping gradually downward towards the earth in response to gravity, and the top of the head responding to the spaciousness of the sky

Eliza Madrigal: Before anyone arrived, Pema brought up the topic of humility... working with physical limitations keeps one pretty humble perhaps :)
Pila Mulligan: this is how practice whorks after a certain age, about 60 for me

Calvino Rabeni: The "within" shaking may intensify with attention
Calvino Rabeni: but it is not imposed by major muscle groups
Pila Mulligan: yes, and in playing with it you may find that if you do have a nervous hand shake some day you can actually do this exercie and relieve it some

Calvino Rabeni: Yes. Your avatar appears in a fixed location relative to the rest of one's body, and the monitor a fixed size.
Calvino Rabeni: The mind's eye can vary all of those conditions
Calvino Rabeni: With perhaps a equivalent effect as if one changed the monitor for a projection video system
Calvino Rabeni: And watched it in a standing stance rather than sitting in a chair
Calvino Rabeni: The internal body sense would be completely different
Calvino Rabeni: Perception is not just a flow that is reaching from world to oneself
Pila Mulligan: so you imagine you are moving the video screen and that the stuff on it moves also?
Calvino Rabeni: The neurology of it - structure of neurons, etc. - supports that there is more "energy" or whatever being projected outward from the self, into space and into time
Calvino Rabeni: Well, you imagine - it is one of the possible experiments for the "pause"

Calvino Rabeni: All the visuallizations that are part of all these "routines" learned as Tai Chi, quigong, kum nye, yoga, meditation, etc. -
