Bertrum Quan: Hi Scath
Scathach Rhiadra: Hello Bertrum
Scathach Rhiadra: how are you today?
Bertrum Quan: A little tired tonight. A long day!
Bertrum Quan: You?
Scathach Rhiadra: yes, it is late for you
Scathach Rhiadra: i am fine ty
Bertrum Quan: Do you have access to US public television?
Scathach Rhiadra: no, I don't think so
Scathach Rhiadra: is it available on the internet?
Bertrum Quan: They had a good program on the Buddha.
Bertrum Quan: It was a 2-hour feature.
Scathach Rhiadra: ah, I saw some emails and notices about that
Scathach Rhiadra: was it good?
Bertrum Quan: Yes. It followed the life of the Buddha. It included segments from the Dalai Lama and scholars. I was especially taken by the insights of US poets W. S. Merwin and Jane Hirshfield.
--BELL--
Scathach Rhiadra: sounds good, it was on at about 2am Irish time so I missed it
Scathach Rhiadra: do they post recordings or make it available later?
Qt Core: hi scath, bert
Scathach Rhiadra: Good morning Qt
Bertrum Quan: I don't know. Was it broadcast in Ireland?
Bertrum Quan: Hi Qt
Scathach Rhiadra: no, but the email notices gave a web address and time of 7pm Eastern Standard time I think
Bertrum Quan: So a web link is provided when the program actually airs?
Scathach Rhiadra: seems to be:)
Scathach Rhiadra: Qt we are talking about the US Public Service Broadcasting a film of the buddha's life
Qt Core: yes, i thought you were
Bertrum Quan: Then you might e-mail PBS and find out if it will air again. I think you might enjoy it.
Scathach Rhiadra: yes, I would like to see it
Scathach Rhiadra: sohas anyone a topic they would like to discuss?
Bertrum Quan: Don't think I'll be able to stay awake long enough for a discussion this morning!
Scathach Rhiadra: :)
Qt Core: and i'm awake since too a little time to be able to formulate a topic ;-)
Scathach Rhiadra: me too:)
--BELL--
Qt Core: do you know something about that floating ... thing ?
Scathach Rhiadra: no, except that it belongs to Wol
Scathach Rhiadra: there was an earthquake in California last week ? Was it anywhere near you bertrum?
Bertrum Quan: No, it was not near me.
Bertrum Quan: Seems there are many more earthquakes in the world (although I've read that it's all very normal).
Scathach Rhiadra: yes, it seems that there are about 30 or so earthquakes in Ireland each year, but they are so small no one notices them
Qt Core: if you check the relativewebsites you'll discover there are sooo many earthquakes every day \
Qt Core: never thought about Ireland as a seismic area!
Scathach Rhiadra: I read somewhere that after a big earthquake the earth rings like a bell for a long time, it would be facinating to hear that
Bertrum Quan: Have you ever been a earthquake?
Scathach Rhiadra: it is not a seismic area, but there would be local fault lines that shift
Qt Core: nothing more that ceiling light moving
Scathach Rhiadra: about 20 years ago there was one felt in Dublin, about 3 on the richter scale, but only felt pictures vibrating on walls
Qt Core: northern italy is a lot less seismic then the central/siouthern part
Bertrum Quan: On that seismic note, I wish you both a great weekend!.
Bertrum Quan: Take care.
Scathach Rhiadra: have a good night Bertrum:)
Qt Core: have a great one you too, bert, bye
Qt Core: thinking that with the increased mobility of people even in non seismic areas kids should be trained in what to do in case of an earthquake
--BELL--
Scathach Rhiadra: yes that would be a good idea, you never know what will happen even when on holiday
Qt Core: but thinking about fire drills while i was in school... we were just happy about losing a lesson ;-)
Scathach Rhiadra: :) kids always appreciate that!
Scathach Rhiadra: I had better go, have a good weekend Qt:)
Qt Core: you too scath, bye
