The Guardian for this meeting was SophiaSharon Larnia. The comments are by SophiaSharon Larnia.

    To recap:

Concerns - people possibly spending more time on scribing than they have, thinking it may not 'measure up', the scribe process formalizing what is a very fluid-like thought process.

Creativity in action - People can write any way they like, without comparing it to another scribe or style, realize that there is no set structure on the scribe or the process.

Future Ideas: Creating a Play as Being library, a guardian writing one scribe if inspired by the topics arising from the sessions.

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sharon :))
SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Eliza! extreme lag here again, my connection
Eliza Madrigal: Oh No... What's going on with that?
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: I hoped to talk with you in particular today, maybe brainstorm out in the open about ideas for access to the scribes and writings inworld
Eliza Madrigal: WB Sharon... rough going
SophiaSharon Larnia: I dont know what's wrong, I relogged that time on purpose :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Oohh
    SophiaSharon Larnia: better
Eliza Madrigal: Were you able to read my last line?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: no sorry Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: hehe... then again, guess you wouldn't know
Eliza Madrigal: what was the last line...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Darren
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Darren :)
    Darren Islar: hi Eliza, Sharon
Eliza Madrigal: We're having a theme session on Scribes, today...
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh that slipped my mind Eliza lol
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    Darren Islar: ah, that's true
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not sure how many scribes will make it, but I hoped to talk about just a few of the things that have been brought up recently
Darren Islar: then I'm going to do something different
    Darren Islar: thanks eliza
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Darren :) Np
Eliza Madrigal: haha... well.... depending on your connection, Sharon, I think you and I have quite a bit we can use the time to discuss...
Eliza Madrigal: then the log can be a place to refer to :)
Eliza Madrigal: For instance there seem to be two main issues which hinder the 'flow' of scribing...
SophiaSharon Larnia: how would you outline that hinderance Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: 1. People sometimes spend, generally, more time than they actually have...
Eliza Madrigal: which can be addressed by sharing tips in some ways...
Eliza Madrigal: making sure its understood that scribes don't have to 'measure up' to the most intricate, even if those were done by the person themselves...
Eliza Madrigal: would be one way.
SophiaSharon Larnia: I do think that most realize that, on most levels
Eliza Madrigal: Do you agree the time problem is an osbstacle, or might I be off the mark?
SophiaSharon Larnia: I don't think the time involved is a main factor, part of it is confidence that one is choosing the right excerpts, or interpreting things in a way that anyone reading the log would agree with
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, so you think there are more subtle concerns to address ...
SophiaSharon Larnia: some people may be uncomfortable with interpreting other peoples words
    SophiaSharon Larnia: in part
Eliza Madrigal: yes, sure... it does seem a wonderful topic actually... if a bit tricky...
SophiaSharon Larnia: part of it is the structure it places on a free form thought process, its there you know
    SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Qt
Eliza Madrigal: but I suppose we find the lines by shining light
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Qt :) Welcome to the 2nd Scribe Theme Session :))
SophiaSharon Larnia: some people, like myself, bristle a bit when approached with certain kinds of structure
    --BELL--
    Bleu Oleander: hi
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Bleu
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :))
Eliza Madrigal: Sharon and I were beginning to discuss the more subtle aspects of scribing in particular, but perhaps this applies to PaB in a wider way as well
    Qt Core: hi Bleu
Bleu Oleander: (is this a scribing mtg?)
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes I forgot too :(
Bleu Oleander: oops, sorry .... sneaks out quietly ...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Bleu
Eliza Madrigal: Everyone is more than welcome to stay and give ideas :)
Eliza Madrigal: In making it easier for visitors to the wiki in particular, to have an impression of PaB discussion, what are we losing....
Eliza Madrigal: Is that part of what you ask, Sharon?
Qt Core: wondering if plain and simple living may be compared to scribing, the part where we observe the world to get data for our decision making
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, interesting... extracting what stands out to us...
Eliza Madrigal: as we go along
Eliza Madrigal: The scribes were always meant to be understood as a particular view of the scriber...
SophiaSharon Larnia: can you say more Qt?
Eliza Madrigal: so I wonder if specifying that clearly might be something to consider more?
Qt Core: don't know if there is more to say, sophia it doesn't have more deeper of hidden aspects for me
Qt Core: just observing, the only differences with scribing the subject and the writing down
Eliza Madrigal: I was thinking over the last few weeks, of scribing like easter egg hunting
    Eliza Madrigal: or catching bubbles
Qt Core: or seaching gold in rivers
    Eliza Madrigal: YES
SophiaSharon Larnia: i understand that Eliza, the process of PaB is very fluid, and many come here to exchange ideas on a more informal level, the scribes can formalize things if you're not careful
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Yakuzza
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
    Qt Core: hi Yaku
SophiaSharon Larnia: it is indeed Qt!
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Yakuzza :) We're talking about scribes today, though I think I should have sent a second reminder :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: reminder ?
SophiaSharon Larnia: by talking about it as we are now formalizes it :)
Eliza Madrigal: that today is a Scribe theme session, which of course everyone is invited to add to...
Eliza Madrigal: Hm... only if we're too formal?
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ok :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: loves the idea of bubbles

Eliza Madrigal: I remember when we were in North Carolina at one of the little mining places... watching my three children... one voraciously gathering as much as they could for their bucket,
Eliza Madrigal: another gathering only the shiniest things,
Eliza Madrigal: the third getting bored after just a little while... wanting to go to the rides :)
Eliza Madrigal: The third, surprisingly, is the only one who kept his!

SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles, yes, like that
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
SophiaSharon Larnia: nice bubbles thank you :)
Eliza Madrigal: these sessions seem to need props, to me
    Eliza Madrigal: >grins<
Eliza Madrigal: there is a wand I have... can't seem to locate it though :)
Eliza Madrigal: BTW, I'm thrilled that Adams will be returning to scribing this month...
SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry my screen is freezing :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, me too
Eliza Madrigal: always enjoyed Adams's scribes before... found a Leonard Cohen one the other day....
SophiaSharon Larnia: Adams is a very good writer
    Eliza Madrigal: indeed
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: Hm... The second thing I thought to bring up for this session, are the ideas about bringing the scribes and writings into SL more.... having ways for avs to 'happen upon' them ....
Eliza Madrigal: My thought was a library... but hm, talk about formal :)
Eliza Madrigal: So maybe magazines in the pub, or in a kind of newspaper container in the square....
Eliza Madrigal: I do think it would add dimension, though I'm not sure of the construction limitations :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, i intend to think about that more, when i have some more free time, which will be after Tuesday
SophiaSharon Larnia: not just think about I mean, but actually do something
Qt Core: using the new viewer capability one could make tazebaos out of building walls...
    Eliza Madrigal: :) hehehe...
    Eliza Madrigal: thinking is doing....
    SophiaSharon Larnia: tazebanos?
Eliza Madrigal: New word alert, Qt :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: hmm i typed that wrong, what is that?
Qt Core: don't know how it is in english, i thought the same as it is from china and not italian
Qt Core: basically newspaper on walls
    Eliza Madrigal: oooh, yes nice
SophiaSharon Larnia: ah i find hand written boards
    SophiaSharon Larnia: on google ^.^
Qt Core: sometimes, near the local offices of political parties, especially left ones you may found "their" newspaper affixed
Eliza Madrigal pauses to appreciate google
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes, I think the main thing is that it seems such a simple idea and yet really might enhance interraction, visibility... the feel of being inworld, where pab takes place and with the 'bodies/avs' of those who gather here
Qt Core: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dazibao quite different spelling from the italian one
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Qt Core: and then remembering to come here in sl is easy, to check the website a little harder ;-)
SophiaSharon Larnia: my screen keeps freezing sorry :(
Eliza Madrigal: ...maybe not too many signs.... but hm, I guess a bit like Bleu's t-shirts in a dispenser
Eliza Madrigal: That's okay, Sharon :) Glad you are here
Qt Core: or one of the side of the meeting room, maybe the west one
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes nice idea
Eliza Madrigal: Oh... and I found the scribe (Adams) I referenced earlier: http://playasbeing.wik.is/PaB_Scribe...ong_in_the_Air
Eliza Madrigal: I think next month I may pull together my scribe in a completely different way...
Eliza Madrigal: begin to experiment more with time and focus... play a bit
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nice Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: after all, there IS a lot of room to play there...
Eliza Madrigal: I've always wanted to do a poem thing, a bit like Corvi's, for instance: http://playasbeing.wik.is/PaB_Scribe...-_Dear_Grandma
SophiaSharon Larnia: I think, and this may sound odd and unworkable, that an option could be a person could write one scribe without the commitment for others, just based on inspiration
SophiaSharon Larnia: sometimes something is said that sets the wheels turning
    --BELL--
SophiaSharon Larnia: i know the pab contribution page can be a place for that
Eliza Madrigal: Sure! yes, just write what was sparked by a particular idea or theme, true
Eliza Madrigal nods, often is for me (But then again I often go back and edit down or remove 'contributions' after a little while) :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: commitment in the sense of time that you stated earlier may be an issue, and also the formality of signing up for something for a long period of time
Eliza Madrigal: yes, the ideal time to scribe would be 6 months I think...
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes but ends up more than that, as anyone can see
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: yes... part of the reason for these sessions and my emails... would really love to see more guardians take a shot :)
Eliza Madrigal: I understand it isn't as hm... therapeutic for everyone, as it is for me
Eliza Madrigal: but it can be fun, and a way of adding a longer string of one's voice...
    Eliza Madrigal: shining light
    SophiaSharon Larnia: brb phone
Eliza Madrigal: And maybe we'll find that there are other kinds of shifts we could make along the way, change the structure a bit... or if quite a few guardians signed on, reduce the number of logs to read, etc
SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry all, I should go, have to go to work
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye for now :)
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks, Sharon :) Appreciate your input today
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now
    Qt Core: bye Sophia
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks for staying Qt and Ya :)
Qt Core: np, i'm enjoying the stay
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Do you read the scribes?
Eliza Madrigal: I think those that haven't gone through them, clicking randomly/playing, might be surprised at what they find in there
Qt Core: not always, but sometimes a couple here and there
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks... hm, maybe some of us are as wiki oriented as we are SL oriented
Qt Core: that is why the idea of finding them, or link to them here is a good idea for me
Eliza Madrigal: Sharon I know, read many logs before attending sessions... and I read many logs soon after wandering in to PaB, too... just *liked* reading the wiki and seeing what had been going on
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, that's good input Qt, thanks!
Qt Core: maybe not even something prominent but knowing where to find them here as it is easier that i log in here than i go to the pab wiki if i have some time to waste ;-)
Eliza Madrigal nods... there will be some changes to the wiki soon and perhaps that will help also... highlighting contributions clearly, etc
Eliza Madrigal: Do the emails help, Qt?
Eliza Madrigal: when I send an email to the playasbeing email group?
Qt Core: oh yes, they do
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, good. :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Thank you
Qt Core: even if i think people got that this was a scribers only meeting (see Bleu escape)
Eliza Madrigal: Ohhh, you think she felt others weren't welcome?
Qt Core: not sure but a possibility
Eliza Madrigal: I should be more emphatic perhaps :)
Eliza Madrigal: Still... a good session... informative :)
Eliza Madrigal: Perhaps I should signal 'coast clear' for those staying away...
Eliza Madrigal: haha... even scribes I see signed online right now :)
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: Well, so ends Scribe Session 2 :) Other topics?
    Eliza Madrigal: palate cleansers?
Qt Core: i'm wondering how far the bubbles will go
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Eliza Madrigal: they'll go until Ya stops them
Eliza Madrigal: Look! I found the wands!
Eliza Madrigal: Well I think I'm off... its been such a busy day... prom dress shopping, an appt this morning... lots of running around
Eliza Madrigal: A nap seems in order
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Do you take naps, Qt?
Qt Core: yes, after lunch usually and many this week while i was ill
Qt Core: usually on saturdays and sundays
Eliza Madrigal: you too? I had *such* a cold
Eliza Madrigal: naps feel like such a reward :)
Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now Qt, Yakuzza :) Thanks
    Qt Core: Bye Eliza
    Yakuzza Lethecus: OK, Bye Everyone
