Present at this week's session were 8 guardians: Agatha Macbeth : Bleu Oleander : Eliza Madrigal (who posted this log) : Fael Illyar : Lucinda Lavender : Maxine Walden : Yakuzza Lethecus & stevenaia Michinaga

As the date for displaying "Time as Being" photographs fast approaches, Bleu brings up the pertinent topic of "what to do with the sculptures in the plaza?" At the end, announcements are made, pointing to a "Way of Wu Wei" theme session tomorrow with Wol and Pema, and to Gaya's Kira discussion with Pema about his recent discussion with Shekhar Kapur:  http://blip.tv/file/3486930/

Ever polite, we begin with weather...

Maxine Walden: hi, Agatha, Eliza, Yaku
Agatha Macbeth: What's the temperature like with you Liz?
Eliza Madrigal: Oooh, really nice.. warm and strongly breezy
Agatha Macbeth: My God, it's 26C here!
Eliza Madrigal: guessing, I'd say 83ish
    Agatha Macbeth: AAAAAAAAARGH
    Eliza Madrigal: F
    Agatha Macbeth converts
Fael Illyar: it's around 23C for me here.
Eliza Madrigal: BUT I must say, I enjoy the cold... having it so rarely in South Florida
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Lucinda :)
Agatha Macbeth: Wow, it's about the same in UK as Florida then. Eek
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello lucinda
    Fael Illyar: (23C == 73F)
    Agatha Macbeth: TY Fael :)
Maxine Walden: warmest April on record, I heard, and maybe May as well
    Fael Illyar: Hello Lucinda :)
    Lucinda Lavender: Hi
Yakuzza Lethecus: 28°C here in the room and 22 outside in the shadow
Eliza Madrigal: So the breeze here and the temperature there, are perrrrrfect!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi luci
Agatha Macbeth: Well, April was bloody freezing here
    Maxine Walden: oh!
Agatha Macbeth: Something to do with Icelandic volcano maybe?
    Maxine Walden: hi, Lucinda
Eliza Madrigal wants to attend a snowy PaB retreat some day :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Mmm
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Agatha Macbeth: in the antarctic :D
Eliza Madrigal: hahah, not so sure about that
    Maxine Walden: among the penguins
Fael Illyar: just barely snowy is nice :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu!
    Fael Illyar: Hi Bleu :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bleu :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi everyone :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi Bleu
    Maxine Walden: hi, bleu
Eliza Madrigal: Bleu, you are almost ready to open a shop I think :))))
Eliza Madrigal: (so creative with clothing lately)
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes! (yum)
    Bleu Oleander: oh ty!
Agatha Macbeth: And hair too :)
Bleu Oleander: (didn't do the hair)
    Agatha Macbeth: Aw

    And quickly move onto topics...

Eliza Madrigal: Sorry to miss last week's meeting btw, but reads as though you all had fun :)
Agatha Macbeth is trying to remember what was said
Agatha Macbeth: And i posted the log too! (Go figure)
Bleu Oleander: I think we talked about the new Art of Being project?
Bleu Oleander: I hope everyone is working on their photos!
Maxine Walden: It is so hard to recall conversations sometimes...even very interesting ones
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, you talked about about the new art project, and dreamlets :)
    Maxine Walden: oh, yes, dreamlets
Agatha Macbeth: We talk about so much here Max :)
Eliza Madrigal: I am thinking ... turning over ideas...
Maxine Walden: isn't that so, Agatha
Eliza Madrigal: What does it mean to 'see' time in a way that one might snapshot it?
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Bleu Oleander: that's the challenging question Eliza
    Agatha Macbeth: Agreed
Eliza Madrigal: yes, a very challenging question... and very fun
Bleu Oleander: hopefully we will all see it in a different way
    Maxine Walden: brb
Bleu Oleander: the whole process helps to formulate your ideas of time
Bleu Oleander: and how it relates to being
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
Eliza Madrigal: the nine second pauses can be seen as snapshots of time...
    Bleu Oleander: exactly
Eliza Madrigal: I could use practical tips, personally, about taking pictures
Bleu Oleander: one thing I would like to discuss this am is what to do with the sculptures in the plaza?

Fael Illyar: hmm... I just take snapshots based on feeling.
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, feeling
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe the Lindens would like to have them? ;-)
Fael Illyar: move the camera around until it feels good and snap :)
Bleu Oleander: there are some practical things we could discuss about taking photos
    Eliza Madrigal: feeling time :)
Eliza Madrigal: Its a good question Bleu raises...
    Agatha Macbeth nods @ Bleu
Bleu Oleander: one thought is to place the scultures around the village
Fael Illyar: also, when it's something animated, I watch it and take a snap when I feel like it :)
Eliza Madrigal: 'capturing' it and the feeling/view of it
Agatha Macbeth: Or open another Art Museum? ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: It seems to me rather natural for the sculptures we've made, to find places around the village....
Fael Illyar: there's an example :)
Fael Illyar gave you For Ari-20100514.
Bleu Oleander: or maybe put them on the roof of the art museum like the Met in NYC does
    Agatha Macbeth: :))
    Maxine Walden: interesting ideas, all

Bleu and I think together ...

Bleu Oleander: I like the idea to place them around the village
Eliza Madrigal: I like the idea of being able to wander around the village and happen upon them...
Bleu Oleander: maybe even some by Kira
Eliza Madrigal: One of my favorite places to visit is like that... woodsy areas and you turn a corner and find a little surprise :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
    Agatha Macbeth: Mmm
Bleu Oleander: causes one to pause and contemplate it
    Maxine Walden: nice ideas!
Eliza Madrigal: yes... and for visitors to get a taste of the guardians, too...
    Eliza Madrigal: of the community
Lucinda Lavender: sorry...I was called to the phone...

Bleu Oleander: keeping in mind that we will have move projects going forward what would be the best practice for the art work from past projects?
Lucinda Lavender: I will go back and read...
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes, good question
Bleu Oleander: we now have a wiki page
Bleu Oleander: and perhaps could be documented there

Eliza Madrigal: Hm, well one thing that's come up in the working group meetings has been the idea of silent auctions....
Eliza Madrigal: which seems neat... and exchanges ...
Agatha Macbeth: What are 'silent auctions' exactly Liz?
Bleu Oleander: we could also vote amoung us which ones to keep as "samples" from the various projects
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, well auctions coordinated by one or two people... that work might be bought/bid on... but without making it necessarily showy/public...
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh, right ty

Eliza Madrigal: and I like the idea of 'samples' too, because we hope to have ongoing projects...
Eliza Madrigal: can't keep everything out or we'll have to buy another village! :)))
    Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
Bleu Oleander: a thought to keep the "inventory" down a bit
Agatha Macbeth: Wish I could keep mine down :(
    Bleu Oleander: need another region!
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Maxine Walden: too many good things...!
Agatha Macbeth: There are a coupla empty ones to the south ;-)
Bleu Oleander: can we become too creative?
    Agatha Macbeth: Probably
Eliza Madrigal: :)) Well, these things tie into the donation structure discussion too... ideas for  fundraising, etc.
Eliza Madrigal: hah, too creative, never!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    Fael brings an interesting idea...

Fael Illyar: One option is a ... I think it was called holodeck
Eliza Madrigal: That's what SL is for... take the lid off...
    Maxine Walden: holodeck, Fael?
Agatha Macbeth: Like on the Enterprise?
    Eliza Madrigal: ooooo
    Fael Illyar: kind of
Fael Illyar: each user can choose what to look at
Fael Illyar: you can prepare entire builds, go through a process of recording the settings and then you can press a few buttons to rez the options.
    Agatha Macbeth: Whoa
Maxine Walden: ah...wow, had no idea!
Fael Illyar: easier on prims if you have a lot of scenes.
Bleu Oleander: like they do with houses
Fael Illyar: but takes a bit of extra work to prepare
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Eliza Madrigal: such a neat idea...
Eliza Madrigal feels her imagination stretching
Bleu Oleander: could you also get a notecard with each one?
Fael Illyar: of course, the holodeck system does cost a bit :)
Fael Illyar: I'd think you probably can.
    Agatha Macbeth: Always a downside...
    Eliza Madrigal: hmmm
Eliza Madrigal: But definitely something to consider as an option...
Eliza Madrigal: We're just at the beginning of things I guess :)
    Agatha Macbeth agrees
Fael Illyar: I think you can get a version that does what you need for 4000L or less :)
Fael Illyar: I haven't looked at the prices in a while.
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, that's not outrageous actually
Agatha Macbeth: That's quite reasonable if it's a joint effort
Eliza Madrigal: a group could get together and pitch in and work on it
Bleu Oleander: is there a limit to how many objects it can rez?
Yakuzza Lethecus: i wonder how good these things are in open source:
    Yakuzza Lethecus: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Open_Source_Holodeck
Fael Illyar: I doubt the system itself limits it but it's naturally slower the more objects there are. So, the instructions will tell you to link as much as you can.

Eliza Madrigal: Fael, can you walk us through the idea with a little more detail, just to have a clear idea?
Lucinda Lavender: I have a question...since I am kind of new to all this
    Lucinda Lavender: yes...
    Eliza Madrigal: Sure :)
    Lucinda Lavender: go ahead...
Agatha Macbeth: Ooh, that's interesting Yaku
Fael Illyar: that one looks like it's limited to rather small builds.
Bleu Oleander: which would be our scultures
Fael Illyar: but if it's enough, go for it :)
Agatha Macbeth will be right back.
Fael Illyar: there appears to be a lot of for pay offerings too.
    Agatha Macbeth: back
Eliza Madrigal: So it would be setting up a 'scene' for each exhibit?
Fael Illyar: yes, then the user can choose which scene to rez
Bleu Oleander: for the immediate future, since we need to display the photos week of June 7, could be place the sculptures around the village? and then look into this?
Eliza Madrigal: I think that's a good idea Bleu. I'd love to have a sculpture or two around my house
Eliza Madrigal: maybe the larger ones might be on the outskirts... or near the pavillion?
Eliza Madrigal: we wouldnt want to create obstructions. I'm sure Storm will keep us in line
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Agatha Macbeth: Oh he will! ;-)
    Maxine Walden: :))

Bleu Oleander: we could also over them for sale or auction so people could place them in their house or plots
Bleu Oleander: the L$'s raised to go to PaB
Eliza Madrigal nods... yes that seems great
    Agatha Macbeth: Nice idea
    Maxine Walden: very nice idea!
Agatha Macbeth: Not all of us have a plot tho...
    Eliza Madrigal: You should!
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eliza Madrigal: :) time to wander around Agatha....
Lucinda Lavender: LL is being reminded of at the Buddhist Temple...where after objects have bee on the altar there people are able to take them home for their own use...
Bleu Oleander: you could keep it in your already voluminous inventory Agatha
Agatha Macbeth: Wander round Agatha? :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
Eliza Madrigal: wander around the village (comma) agatha
    Maxine Walden: :)), Agatha
    Agatha Macbeth: (Shouldn't take long)
Agatha Macbeth: Me being like a reed <cough>
Eliza Madrigal: I like the spirit of that idea Lucinda... we bring art offerings for a time
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Mm
Eliza Madrigal: So maybe the smartest way to approach the immediate arrangement would be for Bleu and I to write an email to the group, maybe with Storm too, just making sure no one minds having their work placed around the village....
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Bleu Oleander: nods also
Bleu Oleander: can anyone move the pieces?
Eliza Madrigal: and also asking about placing 'up for bid' eventually... and we can talk about that in further guardian sessions? setting what we think price ranges could be

Finding our group boundaries and freedoms ...

Eliza Madrigal: I think we actually can, Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: ok good
    Eliza Madrigal: though I haven't tried :)
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, I was going to say that. can we only move our own sculptures or can anybody do it?
Eliza Madrigal: one way to find out...brb
Bleu Oleander: Storm may have that power
Agatha Macbeth: C ya Liz :)
Agatha Macbeth: So the solution wouild be to edit them so the group owns them, no?
Agatha Macbeth: What's the verdict Liz?
Fael Illyar: no, not group owned but set to the group and set to share with group.
Eliza Madrigal: I realized after walking out, that I'm logging the session... will need the lines I missed when out there
    Agatha Macbeth nods @ Fael
Eliza Madrigal: I couldn't move others' sculptures
Agatha Macbeth: I think Fael has the answer...
Eliza Madrigal: Storm can, I'm sure...
[8:37] Fael Illyar: unless the objects are shared with group, only the owner can move.
    [8:37] Agatha Macbeth: Thx Fael
[8:37] Bleu Oleander: that's what I though Fael
    [8:37] Cosmicflower Ushimawa is Online
[8:38] Agatha Macbeth: So the solution wouild be to edit them so the group owns them, no?
[8:38] Eliza Madrigal has entered chat range.
    Eliza Madrigal listens
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, thanks Fael :)
Agatha Macbeth: (Who is Cosmicflower Ushimawa?)
Eliza Madrigal: :) someone who attends sometimes
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Looks like Yaku has nodded off again :)
Eliza Madrigal: Lucinda, did we answer the question you wanted to ask earlier?
Bleu Oleander: not into art :)
    Lucinda Lavender: The hmmm
    Eliza Madrigal: haha, Bleu
    Agatha Macbeth: The hmmm? :)
Lucinda Lavender: yes I think so
Agatha Macbeth never discussed a hmmm before
    Eliza Madrigal: Great :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hey Steve :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
    Maxine Walden: hi, Steve
Agatha Macbeth: If someone is walking all over us it must be Steve :)
    Maxine Walden: !!

Steve arrives, and the conversation shifts toward what to do with the upcoming exhibit, once we move onto the next one...

Eliza Madrigal: We were talking about Art as Being, and about placing the current sculptures around the village, to make way for the latest exhibit
    Eliza Madrigal: Good idea?
    Agatha Macbeth wave @ Steve
stevenaia Michinaga: grinds, very light footed however
    Agatha Macbeth: Fortunately! :))
    Fael Illyar: Hi Stevie :)
stevenaia Michinaga: or... how about th walls of this lovely pavillian, photo's do't do well out of doors
    Bleu Oleander: interesting idea steve
Fael Illyar: yes, photos could go well with building decoration
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, well after the exhibit itself, there will indeed be the question of where photos go... not quite scatterable around the village
Eliza Madrigal: in the same way as the sculptures
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps a marker outside the doors to extend an invitation tot he public
Bleu Oleander: we could potentially end up with a lot of artwork
    Agatha Macbeth: Mm
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Fael Illyar: shouldn't be difficult to even create textures with the photos transparent like the windows here right now.
Bleu Oleander: so maybe documenting on the wiki for most of it and keeping some of it around the village
Eliza Madrigal: yes, very glad you and Calvino made that page, Bleu...
    Eliza Madrigal: http://playasbeing.wik.is/PaB_Art
    Agatha Macbeth: Thx Liz
Fael Illyar: and yes, wiki is a natural place to keep images )
    Fael Illyar: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: thinking photos not on walls.... sort of like hanging scupture on walls

    Dropping... letting go...

Lucinda Lavender: wondering here...since I do not know much...would it be a possibility that some dropping of the art upon occaision would make room for the new?
stevenaia Michinaga: I guess I've been to to many museums
Bleu Oleander: yes also good idea Lucinda
Maxine Walden: steve, some of us are living in the dimensions of another era...
Lucinda Lavender: with some kind of acknowledgement...
Eliza Madrigal: yes, there does seem to be some need for a process of selecting
Bleu Oleander: people could just take their own art back to make room for the new show
Eliza Madrigal: and maybe some projects themselves which would be more 'transient' than others
Bleu Oleander: seems a missed opportunity to raise funds though

    Art for fundraising...

Eliza Madrigal: Hm, so what have we 'decided' then :))
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, good question :)
    Agatha Macbeth looks round
Bleu Oleander: copies could be for sale of the pieces around the village
Eliza Madrigal: that's a nice idea for people outside of the guardian group/village... should we decide at some point to have open events and such
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Bleu Oleander: yes, why not?
stevenaia Michinaga: selling the art as a fundraiser, never thought of that :)
    Lucinda Lavender: openings?
Bleu Oleander: we could invite other groups to come and see/buy the art of PaB
Eliza Madrigal: I think that's what we have to work with 'now' then.... setting the current sculptures around the village, and opening the topic of price ranges for pab fundraising with current scuptures...
    Bleu Oleander: yes, good
Eliza Madrigal: Next week seems a good time to talk about the PaB donation structure again, so the topics actually overlap!
Bleu Oleander: maybe we could get some publicity for our art show/sale
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes Liz, agreed
Eliza Madrigal: its a 'process', most of all, and will be interesting to see how it evolves
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
Fael Illyar: I'd best get going. Have fun everyone! :)
    Bleu Oleander: bye Fael
Agatha Macbeth: C ya Fael :)
Maxine Walden: nice to see how it has evolved in this discussion
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Fael :) Thanks for ideas
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye fael
    Agatha Macbeth: Keep twirling!
Eliza Madrigal nods @ Maxine :))

Lucinda Lavender: something I forgot to ask..bye Fael:)
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Fael
Lucinda Lavender: So the photos...will they be 2L or Rl
Bleu Oleander: details on the wiki Lucinda, size, etc.
Agatha Macbeth: (Sry, Gaya is confusing me:))
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe....
stevenaia Michinaga: SL for this round
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks

Eliza Madrigal: Gaya is announcing a kira event, about a talk between Pema and Shekhar Kapur... really great video

Bleu Oleander: oh yes, sry, SL snapshots only
    Agatha Macbeth nods @ Liz
stevenaia Michinaga: is there a link to the video?
Bleu Oleander: say that video .... really good

Eliza Madrigal: I think to remind everyone also, that Wol and Pema have a theme tomorrow

Eliza Madrigal: yes... on the notice... let me get it
    Yakuzza Lethecus: http://blip.tv/file/3486930/
    stevenaia Michinaga: ty
    Eliza Madrigal: Thanks, Ya :)
Agatha Macbeth: Wrong time for me unfortunately :(
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, but the video you can see any time
Maxine Walden: I need to go soon, as well; and will be away during the next three weekends, so will be a few weeks before I can attend again
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh wow
Eliza Madrigal: I hope you are up to exciting things Maxine? :)
Bleu Oleander: will you do a photo Maxine?
Maxine Walden: oh, thanks, yes, various travels..so good things, thanks for asking
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice
Maxine Walden: you know, bleu, I am not sure I have that talent, but will think about it. words seem to be my palette
Eliza Madrigal: Safe and happy travels Maxine. We'll miss you :))
    Agatha Macbeth grins @ Maxine
Bleu Oleander: good exercise though .... seeing in a new way
Maxine Walden: thanks, this is such a nice group to be a part of
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Agatha Macbeth nodsnods
Maxine Walden: good point, bleu, and I will try to hold that in mind
Bleu Oleander: good trip Maxine :)
Eliza Madrigal: I need to be going too, but thanks everyone for a really productive and interesting session!
Agatha Macbeth: Have fun Max, take care
    Maxine Walden: bye all
Bleu Oleander: thanks and bye everyone
Agatha Macbeth: C ya Liz :))
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone
    stevenaia Michinaga: see you
Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now everyone!
Agatha Macbeth: Bye for now everybody
    Lucinda Lavender: bye Maxine
