The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.  Two hours before this session began, a 5.8 earthquake struck Virginia in the eastern United States.  It was felt from South Carolina to Toronto, caused buildings to sway in Columbus, Ohio, and prompted the evacuation of most government buildings in Washington, D.C.  Chi Aho lives only 20 miles from the quake's epicenter.

    FcSeeker Resident: hi Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey. Fc!

    FcSeeker Resident: hi Qt
Agatha Macbeth: Buona sera QT :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Qt!
    Agatha Macbeth: and shorts
Qt Core: Hi all, 'sera Agatha
    Santoshima Resident: hi Qt
    Dash Earthboy: hey y'all
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Dash
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Dash!
    Agatha Macbeth: and hello Dash
    Santoshima Resident: hey there Dash
    Wol Euler: hello dash
Bruce Mowbray: We had an earthquake today!
    FcSeeker Resident: oh
    FcSeeker Resident: pls tell more
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, I heard there was one in DC
    Chi Aho: wrong
Bruce Mowbray: It was felt throughout the east coast of America.
    Wol Euler: yeah
Bruce Mowbray: They evacuated the Pentagon.
Dash Earthboy: and a 5.3 in Colorado :)
Wol Euler: two in one day?
    Agatha Macbeth: Whoa
    Bruce Mowbray: Today, Dash?
Dash Earthboy: last night around midnight
    Dash Earthboy: so today EST
    Bruce Mowbray: wow!
Bruce Mowbray: Whole lot of shaking going on!
    Dash Earthboy: yah
Qt Core: damage or victims somewhere ?
Dash Earthboy: some damage here but no victims of injury
    Wol Euler: apparently none, fortunately
    FcSeeker Resident: <3<3<3sigh<3<3<3
Chi Aho: The quake was a 5.9 and centered south of Mineral, Virginia, about 45 minutes west of Richmond, Virginia
Bruce Mowbray: no damage in Ohio.
    Agatha Macbeth: Good :)
Chi Aho: so it was northwest of Richmond, Va., not in D.C., tho it was felt in D.C.
    Dash Earthboy: yah
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Bruce Mowbray: It was felt powerfully in DC.
Chi Aho: and where do I live? northwest of Richmond
Dash Earthboy: and apparently up into New England
    Bruce Mowbray: Whoa!
Wol Euler: as far as Toronto, apparently
Bruce Mowbray: You must have really felt it, Chi.
Chi Aho: yes, it was severe
Chi Aho: but no damage fortunately
    Chi Aho: not here anyway
Chi Aho: all of the wall hangings went askew
Chi Aho: the roof shingles were grinding - sounded like pebbles falling out of the sky
Chi Aho: it was about 20 miles or so from where i live
    Bruce Mowbray: Wow!
Chi Aho: The reason it was felt for so far away is due to the very hard rock beneath the surface - old rock they are saying
Bruce Mowbray: Unless you live in an earthquake area, the building codes are not set for this possibility. . . so architecture is more vulnerable than, say, in California.
    FcSeeker Resident: hi Arch
    Dash Earthboy: hey Arch
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Arch!
    Wol Euler: hello arch
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Archie
Bruce Mowbray: We're talking about the earthquake, Arch.
    Qt Core: hi Arch
Wol Euler: given a long enough timeframe, and enough bad luck, there is NO inch of the world that isn't an earthquake zone :)
Chi Aho: yes, for brick structures in particular, Bruce, but no damage reported in downtown Richmond
    Bruce Mowbray: That's good.
    Bruce Mowbray: Yeppers, Wol.
    FcSeeker Resident: hi Aph
    Bruce Mowbray: Impermanence rules!
    Dash Earthboy: Hey Aph
    --BELL--
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Aph!
Archmage Atlantis: The only damage I have heard reported is to the National Cathedral in DC, one of the spires partially fell
Archmage Atlantis: All hand stone work
    Chi Aho: hadn't heard that
    Qt Core: hi Aphro
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hello everyone
Chi Aho: the evening news will carry that report, i am sure
    Dash Earthboy: yah
    Chi Aho: hi, Aph
Bruce Mowbray: I love the National Cathedral - have been there many times.
    Santoshima Resident: Hi Aph
    Wol Euler: hello aph
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Santo
Bruce Mowbray turns on his sounds/speakers.
    Wol Euler: eliza!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Eliza!
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Dash Earthboy: hey Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: wow big group
    Aphrodite Macbain: hello Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi All :)
    Qt Core: hi Eliza
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Liz :)
Dash Earthboy: the more the merrier :)
Bruce Mowbray: We are merry indeed.
Archmage Atlantis: Big group today, that is nice L)
Wol Euler: ooh, one more and we get our bonus karma points
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Wol Euler: oh, no, two more
Bruce Mowbray: Are you preparing for Hurricane Irene, Eliza?
    Agatha Macbeth: Korel crashed
Wol Euler: hadn't noticed the gap by santo
Eliza Madrigal: Am as prepared as I need to be if planning for it to stay off-coast
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Wol Euler: heheh
Bruce Mowbray: i hope it does, Eliza.
Wol Euler: did you send it an IM with your plans?
    FcSeeker Resident: hi Eliza
Archmage Atlantis: That would be nice Wol, except I have a tendency to spend 2 karma points for everyone I earn *g*
    Santoshima Resident: hello eliza
Eliza Madrigal: thank you :) And no I hadn't thought of that... thought I'd remain as invisible as possible
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: good luck!
Dash Earthboy: let me know if you get its email address Eliza :)
    Santoshima Resident: goodnight
    Dash Earthboy: g'nite San
Eliza Madrigal: Night Santo, good to see you
    Bruce Mowbray: G'night, Santo!
Wol Euler: bye santo, take care
    Qt Core: 'nigth santoshima
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye Santo
    Aphrodite Macbain: Nite santo
Eliza Madrigal: the thing with large storms is, when they grow stronger they really go where they want to
    Eliza Madrigal: less predictable
Bruce Mowbray: predicted possibly a category 4.
Eliza Madrigal: yes, terrible... likely hitting the Carolinas :(
    FcSeeker Resident: waves to san
    Bruce Mowbray: Ouch!
Archmage Atlantis: The Carolinas look very probable to me also
Eliza Madrigal takes a moment to scan crowd loving Aph's new hair and Agatha's ears :))
Eliza Madrigal: Still good to pepare, Arch! Make sure :))
Agatha Macbeth smiles and waves her tail
Bruce Mowbray: Did you notice that Wol had shed her antlers?
Aphrodite Macbain looks carefully at Agger's ears
Eliza Madrigal: ah, yes, so you have grown a tail... cute :)
Wol Euler: and tail and ears and skin and teeth :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Agatha Macbeth: Thereby hangs a tail
    Wol Euler: zello zon
    Chi Aho: hey, Zon
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Zon!
    Wol Euler: *hello
Archmage Atlantis: Survival is all in the preparation, that and being not to tied to the plan
    FcSeeker Resident: Hi Zon
    Dash Earthboy: hey Zon
Aphrodite Macbain: Do you hear better with them Aggers?
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Zon
    Agatha Macbeth: Pardon?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zon :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: GTSY Zon
    Qt Core: Hi Zon
    Eliza Madrigal: nice, Arch
Aphrodite Macbain: How are you Dash?
Dash Earthboy: i went to the Chamber of Commerce last night for orientation for my volunteer work at the Corn Roast Festival this weekend
    Eliza Madrigal: Hey Pila!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hello Pila
    Agatha Macbeth: Aloha Pila
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Pila
Bruce Mowbray: Yayyyy! A complete circle!
    Bruce Mowbray: Welcome, Pila!
    Pila Mulligan: greetings
Dash Earthboy: continuing to get involved with the community as usual
Wol Euler: where are you now, dash? did I miss that?
    Aphrodite Macbain: yum roasted corn
    Dash Earthboy: hey Pila
Eliza Madrigal: that sounds fun Dash
    Qt Core: Hi Pila
    Wol Euler: pila! aloha
    Aphrodite Macbain: He's in Colorado
Archmage Atlantis: Corn in August instead of March.....I'd forgotten
Dash Earthboy: yah each volunteer gets a free ear of corn :)
    Wol Euler: ah, right, ty
    Dash Earthboy: jk
    Zon Kwan: hey all
Bruce Mowbray: Ooops - one seat left.
Dash Earthboy: i got my green commemorative Tshirt, coupons for corn and box lunch and all kinds of food, bus tokens, parking pass...
Dash Earthboy: should know the community much better after this weekend
    Wol Euler grins.
    Bruce Mowbray: Wheeee!
Dash Earthboy: just renewed my rent for another day here
    Agatha Macbeth: Nice
    Dash Earthboy: another week here
Wol Euler: you can probably sell that parking pass on the black market for a lot of money :)
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: hope something leads to a job for you Dash
Eliza Madrigal: Alice Waters two favorite foods: tomatoes and corn (bit of trivia learned yesterday)
Dash Earthboy: got word today from several interviews that they should be deciding next week
Dash Earthboy: and can't get an apartment without a job
Agatha Macbeth wonders who Alice Waters is
Dash Earthboy: but have been scouring Craigslist for becoming a roommate
    Wol Euler nods.
    Dash Earthboy: prefer that anyway
Aphrodite Macbain crosses her fingers for Dash
Bruce Mowbray: Good luck to you, Dash.
    FcSeeker Resident: <3
    Dash Earthboy: ty
Dash Earthboy: i'll be setting things up for festival on Friday
Archmage Atlantis: Alice Waters was one of the founders of the good food movement in the US, a famous chef
Dash Earthboy: and manning the info booth on Saturday
Archmage Atlantis: Focus on fresh, local food
    Eliza Madrigal: thanks Arch, nods
Bruce Mowbray feels tremors of impermanence....
Eliza Madrigal: Is the weather pleasant Dash, for the event? sure to meet a lot of people... love festivals
Aphrodite Macbain: as long as it's not a hurricane Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: or an earthquake, Aph.
Wol Euler: brb, gotta go do some stuff :)
Eliza Madrigal: there was actually an earthquake on the US east coast today
    Eliza Madrigal: !!
Bruce Mowbray: like the whole east coast experienced today.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye! Wol
    Eliza Madrigal: cyou soon Wol
    Bruce Mowbray: I felt it.
    Eliza Madrigal: did you?
    Eliza Madrigal listens
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Wol!
Archmage Atlantis: No matter where one lives, some part of the planet moves
    FcSeeker Resident: waves
    Eliza Madrigal: incredibly rare
Bruce Mowbray: The chair in front of my computer rocked. But Chi was only 20 miles from the epicenter.
    --BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: wonder what fault line was shifting
Chi Aho: Mother Nature is a bit angry at us, I would say, with all the earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and tornadoes lately. Maybe upset about too many people and too much pollution?
Archmage Atlantis: It is almost 2012 after all, Aph :)
Bruce Mowbray: Yeah, we are out of balance -- and the only thing the earth knows to do is try to correct that imbalance.
Chi Aho: We have upset the balance of nature.
    Aphrodite Macbain: ?? @ Arch
Eliza Madrigal: there have always been disasters... think it is just her personality :)
Dash Earthboy: on Facebook I specifically pleaded for no "last days" comments :(
Qt Core: i got an app for my smartphone to track heartquake, i knew we get some in italy but (obviously smaller one) at a rate of 5/10 a day!
Aphrodite Macbain: She gets cranky from time to time
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Archmage Atlantis: Mayan calendar ends with 2012, Aph
Dash Earthboy: it is nature looking after itself
Aphrodite Macbain: Oh right. Forgot. So some people believe the world will end then?
Pila Mulligan: QT, typo: heartquake :)
    Wol Euler: back :)
Eliza Madrigal: those are more common even on the east coast
    Qt Core: :-)
Archmage Atlantis: Yep, Aph, but somebody believe most everything
    Aphrodite Macbain: nice typo Qt!!
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello back :)
    Pila Mulligan: wb
    Aphrodite Macbain: wb Aggers
    Eliza Madrigal: heheh
    Wol Euler: :-P
    Agatha Macbeth: Haven't been anywhere
    Aphrodite Macbain: wb Wol
Aphrodite Macbain: oops. should read more carefully
Bruce Mowbray: You can sign up to receive notices of earthquakes all over the world: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqinthenews/2011/se082311a/
Agatha Macbeth hands Aph her glasses
Eliza Madrigal: ooo feeling possibility of full circle approaching....
    Agatha Macbeth: oOo :)
Wol Euler: heartquake! love it :)
    Dash Earthboy: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Or even oo0oo
    Wol Euler: hello sam
Aphrodite Macbain tries on her new glasses
    Dash Earthboy: hey Sam
    Agatha Macbeth: Yo 0
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi oO0Oo :)))

Aphrodite Macbain: much better. Thanks Aggers

Aphrodite Macbain: makes me look smart
    Wol Euler grins.

    Wol Euler: nice look, yes
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello O
Dash Earthboy: hopes Korel returns to complete the circle X
oO0Oo Resident: hello fresh being as playthings

Wol Euler: come and join us, sam :)
    Dash Earthboy: Yay!!!
Wol Euler: yay! the circle is complete! we get our bonus karma points!
    Archmage Atlantis: Full circle
    Eliza Madrigal: **********Applause!!**********
    Eliza Madrigal: **********Applause!!**********
Wol Euler: full plus one, actually :)
    FcSeeker Resident: (and one plus)
    oO0Oo Resident smiles.. cheerful here
Agatha Macbeth: Instant karma's gonna get ya
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, Sam. I just got a photo of the full circle.

Wol Euler: FC is the ... what's the name of that extra bead on the mala?
    FcSeeker Resident: outsider ?
Aphrodite Macbain: O within the O
    Bruce Mowbray: The head bead?
Eliza Madrigal: one to wish on?
    Archmage Atlantis: Not an outsider
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bruce Mowbray: One bead to know when to need to start over.
Eliza Madrigal: oh, wait that's candles
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
oO0Oo Resident: Depends on the mala.. but 'guru' bead is sometimes used
Wol Euler: as I heard it, each mala bead corresponds to a prayer in a sequence, but there is one more bead than prayers in the sequence
Wol Euler: the extra bead is when you stop and take stock of where you are, before beginning again
Wol Euler: the "drop" bead :)
    Bruce Mowbray: yes.
Aphrodite Macbain: like a nine second pause
    Agatha Macbeth: Technical
Bruce Mowbray loves the "drop" bead.
Archmage Atlantis: Regardless, Fc is Fc....
Eliza Madrigal: that's so wonderful, the drop bead
oO0Oo Resident takes a bead on Aggers ;)
Wol Euler scritches FC's drop-bead ears and smiles
    FcSeeker Resident: <3
    Agatha Macbeth: Wa!
Wol Euler: actually, I think I read that in "Eat pray love" :)
oO0Oo Resident: sometimes the cord in a mala breaks... and beads spill everywhere
Wol Euler: so its accuracy is not absolutely reliable
Agatha Macbeth: Of course, where else?
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: wikipedia!
    Agatha Macbeth: Well, yeh
Wol Euler: had I read it there, I'd accept it without question
Bruce Mowbray: The impermanence of beads. . .,  even.
    Wol Euler nods to sam
    Agatha Macbeth: Or typos
Archmage Atlantis: Gosh, I can't even make it through the movie EPL...I can't imagine reading the book
Wol Euler: the book was better than the movie, as is so often the case
    Agatha Macbeth: True
    Archmage Atlantis: :)
Wol Euler: I don't mind admitting that the pray section (of both) moved me to tears
Agatha Macbeth: Almost always in fact
Eliza Madrigal: book was sweet but didn't see to the end of the film
Archmage Atlantis: That was true of Gone with the Wind also, Wol :)
Bruce Mowbray wonders if he could get by with just "eat."
    Wol Euler laughs.
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
oO0Oo Resident: I pray you do love
Bruce Mowbray: I love YOU, Fc!
    Agatha Macbeth: I try :)
    FcSeeker Resident: blushes
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Bruce Mowbray: awwwwww!
FcSeeker Resident: love you too :)))))
    Agatha Macbeth: Lurve dat panda
    FcSeeker Resident: blushes even more
    FcSeeker Resident: now all knows...
Agatha Macbeth: Now he's black white and red
    FcSeeker Resident: (hiding)
    Agatha Macbeth rings your bell
    Dash Earthboy: :)
oO0Oo Resident listens.. hopefully deeply (thanks Zen) to whatever comes
Archmage Atlantis: Actually, it is Bell Time
    oO0Oo Resident: 3..2..1..
    --BELL--
    Agatha Macbeth: Ding
    Bruce Mowbray: Radical acceptance.
    Archmage Atlantis: You're welcome, bell
    Archmage Atlantis: :)
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Agatha Macbeth: How do you tell a ding from a dong?
    Chi Aho: lol
    Wol Euler: the vowel sound?
    Archmage Atlantis: Blush
    Dash Earthboy: Agatha behave !
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmm
    Agatha Macbeth: I AM behaving
    Agatha Macbeth: (sort of)
    Dash Earthboy: behave NICE :)
    Agatha Macbeth ooks innocent
    Agatha Macbeth: +l
    Aphrodite Macbain: what is nice?
Agatha Macbeth: A town in France
Dash Earthboy: some town in France

    Agatha Macbeth: Snap
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Agatha Macbeth hears an echo
    Agatha Macbeth: An echo
    Dash Earthboy: echo
    Agatha Macbeth: An echo
    Archmage Atlantis: echo
    Agatha Macbeth: The dolphin
    Archmage Atlantis: mahi mahi
    Agatha Macbeth: Echo-friendly
    Archmage Atlantis: Oh, that dolphin
Agatha Macbeth: He's a good ride
Dash Earthboy: puts Aggers hand over her mouth :)
    Agatha Macbeth: ^.^
Dash Earthboy: yes, you said that out loud :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Nya
    Wol Euler chuckles.
Agatha Macbeth: I seem to be in one of those moods
FcSeeker Resident: what kind of moods ?
    Agatha Macbeth: One of THOSE moods FC [hehe}
Archmage Atlantis: Speaking of such things, the white frogs are singing in the Everglades now rainy season is here......the walks and walls have abundant small frogs recently hatched
    Dash Earthboy: hey Mila
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi Mil
Eliza Madrigal: :) Sweet, Arch... love the sound of those frogs
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Mila
milakel Resident: omg, lots of peeps :)
FcSeeker Resident: (baby panda thinks hardly now)
    Aphrodite Macbain: sounds lovely Arch
    milakel Resident: hi :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ribbit
    FcSeeker Resident: hi Mila
    Qt Core: hi mila
milakel Resident: pila! long time no see :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Mila!
    Agatha Macbeth: Pila and Mila
    Pila Mulligan: hi Mila
oO0Oo Resident is reminded to click on hurricane forecast
    milakel Resident: aga :)
FcSeeker Resident: Pila and Mila also in such mood ?

Aphrodite Macbain: maybe you can bring a cushion into the circle
    Agatha Macbeth: Could be FC
    Wol Euler: hello mila
    milakel Resident: um, what mood?
    FcSeeker Resident: such
Agatha Macbeth: Mood indigo + 7
Eliza Madrigal: :) 0... storm is going to be intense... seems to go toward the Carolinas but everyone on the coast should be watchful
    Wol Euler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJxf_7yeetI&NR=1
    FcSeeker Resident: aha :)
milakel Resident: mmm, woly, you look lovely :) and so does aga kitty :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: ty
Agatha Macbeth ponders Storm being intense
milakel Resident: heh, yes, i thought it was our storm first :)
Dash Earthboy: antlers Bruce? heading for the trees?
Bruce Mowbray: nope, just communicating with the gods and goddesses.
Dash Earthboy: hopes intense Storm will contact him soon :)
Wol Euler: well, nothing against the Carolinas, but I do hope it'll follow that path
Dash Earthboy: care for a seat Mila?
    FcSeeker Resident: well...seriously...
milakel Resident: "tears in rain" - haven't seen it
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Dash!

    Agatha Macbeth: _/\_
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
Aphrodite Macbain: I should go too. Bye! everyone
    Wol Euler: bye arch
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Arch.
Eliza Madrigal hesitates to say that she's never seen it because then everyone will be shocked and say things like 'no way', 'how could you' etc
    oO0Oo Resident: Bye Arch.. Aph
Wol Euler: bye aph, take care
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Aph.
Dash Earthboy: guess I probably should go too

    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Dash Earthboy: pax et bonum y'all
    FcSeeker Resident: waves again too

FcSeeker Resident: ...so many went away...but...well...cannot keep my mouth...
milakel Resident: ah! it's called "a scanner darkly"
    milakel Resident: wonderful movie
    Agatha Macbeth: What is?
Bruce Mowbray wonders if there will be an after-shock with this earthquake/hurricane.
    Wol Euler smiles and nods
Wol Euler: a rose by another name etc
Agatha Macbeth: would still mean got up
Bruce Mowbray ponders Nature as a conscious entity.
milakel Resident: there's a 3d wind mapping project by nasa
    Bruce Mowbray listens for more.
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: there is this thing that happens post-storm... even after a light one where the kids are off school and the electricity goes out for a few days....
Eliza Madrigal: and everyone is outside in the streets, comparing their notes
    Wol Euler smiles and listens
Eliza Madrigal: grilling in the driveways
Eliza Madrigal: talking as they haven't in some times, years
Eliza Madrigal: even to those they don't 'like'
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Wol Euler: :)
Pila Mulligan: and complaining about the noisy generators
Agatha Macbeth: There went the neighborhood
Eliza Madrigal: kids climbing around, making little forts out of light debris
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, sometimes that too Pila... but usually later at night :)
Chi Aho: I must go; bye to all.
Wol Euler: bye chi, take care
    Pila Mulligan: bye Chi
    Agatha Macbeth: Ciao QT
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Chi

    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Wol Euler: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Did they say 'who are you?' :p
Qt Core: until someone got the courage to ask some road worker if they knew something about that... they severed the power cables by mistake
    Wol Euler: ha!
    Agatha Macbeth: Oops
    Wol Euler: so common
Agatha Macbeth: A cut above the rest
Qt Core: no power (and no generators) on a 37C day, from 4pm to 7pm
Eliza Madrigal: Now though, the ice is a little broken with the neighbor... good to have a light connection even
Agatha Macbeth: Get them in SL Liz
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: not everyone is ready for quite that leap maybe Agatha, hah
    Agatha Macbeth: Aw
Eliza Madrigal: my neighbors think I'm odd enough
    Wol Euler nods.
    Eliza Madrigal: hahahaha
    Agatha Macbeth: <3
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello dere Zen
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Zen!
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Zen :)
Eliza Madrigal: but a loss of electricity for a bit does show us a lot, don't you think?
    Wol Euler: hello zen
Qt Core: not much relationship with neighbors... beside the ones we are related to ;-)
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Qt
    Zen Arado: Hi all
    Pila Mulligan: hi Zen
Agatha Macbeth: Relations can be difficult to relate to
    oO0Oo Resident: shows us Eliza?
    Zen Arado: relates to that
    Wol Euler: yep
Eliza Madrigal: well when the electricity goes off I panic...
Eliza Madrigal: over a lot of 'not much' in some cases
    Eliza Madrigal: just a pause
Agatha Macbeth: I do too if it's dark
    Eliza Madrigal: after all :)
Zen Arado: we are so dependent on so many things
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Wol Euler: exactly
    Agatha Macbeth: Specially electricity
Eliza Madrigal: at least I don't have facebook animals to feed, haha
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Pila Mulligan: refrigerators are usually the first to suffer
    Wol Euler: meeroos!
    Agatha Macbeth: Where?
Qt Core: i thought at my option to pass the time (and not notice the heat) no net/tv/radio/ so only books!
    oO0Oo Resident: @@
    Qt Core: (or a nap)
    Wol Euler: hard choice
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: I get strange and start cleaning
Bruce Mowbray: yes, cleaning is also strange for me, Eliza.
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    Wol Euler: heheh
    Zen Arado: yea very strange
Eliza Madrigal: well I mean something about the heat makes me want to declutter and have no dust
    Agatha Macbeth: Strange days indeed
Bruce Mowbray: When Wol's 99 beers on the wall project gets started, I intend to do a little cleaning each day.
Eliza Madrigal: Is that your practice Bruce?
Zen Arado: cleaning can be satisfying though
Bruce Mowbray: and then tell everyone about it.,
Agatha Macbeth: Beers on the Wol
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I intend to make it a practice.
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Wol Euler: already started! this morning :)
    oO0Oo Resident: Cheers on Wol
    Bruce Mowbray: Great, Wol!
    Eliza Madrigal: Ohhh.... Nice!
Zen Arado: what do you have to do Wol?
Eliza Madrigal: Now what :) Email forthcomin?
    Eliza Madrigal: *+g
    Wol Euler: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/index.php?title=The_99_Days_project/First_99:_Sept.1%2C_2011/-9
    --BELL--
Agatha Macbeth: Is that an emoticon at the top?
Wol Euler: I'm going to write a proper intro sometime during the next week, but we talked about it at the Halifax Retreat theme session
Agatha Macbeth: Softly softly catchy monkey
Bruce Mowbray: In case others cannot view Wol's entry, here it is:  Running late, as always, managed by luck not planning to start this project on day -9. Sat for about six very uneasy minutes before giving up: struggling every second not to open my eyes and change something or add to the pages of this part of the wiki; also expecting every moment to be interrupted by the doorbell. I was trying to recapture the spirit of sitting at Sunshine House looking at that overleafed window, monkey mind pulling me constantly back to the wiki. Ah well, they say practice makes perfect.

Bruce Mowbray hopes that's OK with Wol.

    Wol Euler: of course, ty

Eliza Madrigal: Oh, what a great report Wol
Eliza Madrigal: yup, that's like the 'electricity out' panic
    Bruce Mowbray: yw!
oO0Oo Resident allows leaves to fill window
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye. 0!
    Agatha Macbeth: Leaf well alone
oO0Oo Resident: staying and letting them flutter with me Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Oh -- sorry, 0. I took your "leaves" to mean that you were going.
Agatha Macbeth watches the leaves leave
oO0Oo Resident turns over a new leaf
    Bruce Mowbray dies from laughing....
Zen Arado: tries to think of corny lines about leaves
Zen Arado: but manages to drop it
Eliza Madrigal: there were two of us trying that maybe our thoughts clashed each other Zen, overloaded the system
Agatha Macbeth: Why not corny lines about corn?
    Eliza Madrigal grins
oO0Oo Resident: what kernals left after the husking
Eliza Madrigal considers a corn kernel mala
    Agatha Macbeth is a-maized
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
    Wol Euler grins and groans
Bruce Mowbray looks out his window at 250 acres of corn and broans.
Pila Mulligan: Col ka Daffy, Duck!
Agatha Macbeth listens to Brucie broaning
    Bruce Mowbray broans ever louder.
Eliza Madrigal: does this have something to do with my pretty pony?
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Agatha Macbeth: Shhhhhhhh :p
    Wol Euler: ponies like corn?
Agatha Macbeth: Didn't know you had one Liz
Zen Arado: hopingfor a ood crp of broans
    Zen Arado: broad broans?
    Agatha Macbeth has broan damage
    Zen Arado: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: b r o a n !
Bruce Mowbray: Tis time for moi to depart and scrape up din din.

Bruce Mowbray: A pleasant evening to all!
    Agatha Macbeth: Be well Brucie
Eliza Madrigal: that may be my 'practice'... something with food
Wol Euler: bye bruce! happy broaning
Eliza Madrigal: hm, have to think think, think think
    oO0Oo Resident: Bye Bruce
Agatha Macbeth: Sure you're thinking enough Liz?
    Zen Arado: think nonthinking Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Agatha Macbeth: I think I can I think I can...
Wol Euler: do, or do not, there is no "think"
Agatha Macbeth: Certainly not in my case
Eliza Madrigal: I'd like to do 'not answering the phone' practice
    Wol Euler: heheh
Agatha Macbeth: Say 'go away phone' in Tibetan
    Eliza Madrigal: =P~
    Eliza Madrigal: heheh
Zen Arado: yes are not answering Skype messages
    Agatha Macbeth: What is Skype?
Zen Arado: we are at everyone's beck and call these days
    Wol Euler: O.O
Zen Arado: ( wonders what beck means)
Wol Euler: like a free internet telephone, but only computer to computer
    Eliza Madrigal: guitarist..
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh
Zen Arado: we are at it anyway
Agatha Macbeth: Would that not make phones redundant tho?
Eliza Madrigal: not until everyone else gives them up
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: we're all in this together
    Zen Arado: fragmented disjointed lives
    Wol Euler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh60RkLZJrE <- beck's finest moment
    Agatha Macbeth: Hm, interesting
    Agatha Macbeth: Posh & becks
    Zen Arado: David Beckham?
    Wol Euler: ha :)
Zen Arado: maybe it is a small stream?
Agatha Macbeth: Probably him missing that penalty again

Wol Euler: bend it like beckham!

Pila Mulligan: yes it is... thanks Wol
    Agatha Macbeth: ♥
Eliza Madrigal: I'm wondering if it is cheating for my practice to do something I'm already doing but is also something to pay attention to ... probably...
    oO0Oo Resident: yes.. ty Wol
Agatha Macbeth: Try not doing something for it instead
Eliza Madrigal is too wrapped in details prob... why do that? :))
Agatha Macbeth pictures Liz wrapped in details
    Eliza Madrigal grins
Pila Mulligan: you be the judge :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Guilty as charged
Wol Euler: not at all, go for it
Zen Arado: you can't cheat yourself can you?
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Agatha Macbeth: Depends how observant you are
    Agatha Macbeth: Uh oh
    Wol Euler: O.O

    milakel Resident: aga girl :)
Zen Arado: yeah Isuppos we can
Agatha Macbeth: Tell us more FC
FcSeeker Resident: well...it took time for me to learn that to be truly possible, but I learned...as this friend did that himself so much....so much...
    oO0Oo Resident listens
    Zen Arado listens too
FcSeeker Resident: that learning also explained to me much such that I had pondered for the certain people's behavior
    milakel Resident: hmm
Eliza Madrigal: it is something my yoga teacher says when we're holdin a pose/pause for a long time and think we can't continue "don't cheat yourself; play the edge"
Wol Euler: mila just rebooted the server, let's see what happens
    Agatha Macbeth nods
FcSeeker Resident: that's one light example of to lie to one's self
FcSeeker Resident: lol; one example of that is when the person cheats playing one person's card game
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    Eliza Madrigal: I've done that
FcSeeker Resident: which I had pondered whole my life that why to do so
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Pila Mulligan: to win :)
Eliza Madrigal: getting 'hints' for scrabble
Agatha Macbeth: Solitaire's the only game in town
FcSeeker Resident: to win what ?
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Wol Euler: :)
Eliza Madrigal: well the next time I played I might remember
Eliza Madrigal: not saying it is sensical
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: feeling 'so close' was excruciating in most cases
    Wol Euler nods.
Pila Mulligan: cheating at solitaire ... where in the world is Col Gadaffy when you need him
Zen Arado: so we have an internal set of rules that we mustn't transgress?
Wol Euler sings "another one bites the dust!"
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: 3
Eliza Madrigal: well and is it cheating if the hints access is built into the game
    --BELL--
    Agatha Macbeth: +<
FcSeeker Resident: ah; sure it's each one's own choice if to do so...I've just pondered the reason/s
FcSeeker Resident: imo you need to choose how you take it to be...
Eliza Madrigal nods; a good question FcS!
Zen Arado: I usedto pla Scrabble with a Souh African woman on Faebook
    Agatha Macbeth: Good lord
    Agatha Macbeth: In Afrikaans?
Wol Euler: I don't think it's cheating to use an affordance that is built into the game :)
FcSeeker Resident: as well you need to choose if it's good or bad thing to do
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: she looked up words in a book
Zen Arado: but she got really mad at me when Ilookedup wors on the web :)
Eliza Madrigal: oh, then you were helping her learn Zen
    Eliza Madrigal: ah, hah
Agatha Macbeth wonders how much Wildebeeste would score
Zen Arado: she sent me a nasty e-mail
Eliza Madrigal would NOT want to play scrabble against Aggers
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Aw, why?
Zen Arado: it was only a silly ame to me
Eliza Madrigal: especially not timed scrabble
    Agatha Macbeth: Timed scrabble OMG
    Wol Euler: O.O
Agatha Macbeth: Where's Carol Vorderman when you need her?
Wol Euler: wildebeeste always lose, the only word they know is "grunt" and they can't spell it
FcSeeker Resident: some people takes even silly games to be very serious
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Zen Arado: yes that's true Fc
    Eliza Madrigal nods FcS
Agatha Macbeth throws something wet at Wol
Wol Euler catches it and turns it over curiously.
FcSeeker Resident: some people takes their own or other's life to be the game only...
Eliza Madrigal: many families torn apart by a long game of monopoly... (kidding but just slightly
Agatha Macbeth: Ah Monopoly...now there's a whole other subject
Zen Arado: games are an artificial simplified version of life
    Wol Euler: :)
Zen Arado: it's amazing how much importance some people attach to them
    Eliza Madrigal: :)) Pila
Eliza Madrigal: I think games can give us a taste of what is really going on inside sometimes
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe life's but a game
Eliza Madrigal: see our reactions, etc
Zen Arado: and we mere players
FcSeeker Resident: somebody gets living playing the games like poker...
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: :) we talked a bit about the film 'the game' at retreat...

FcSeeker Resident: so good movie imo
Zen Arado: the problem with games is that somebody has to lose
    oO0Oo Resident: the game?
Agatha Macbeth: 'The jack's not there Lancie'
    Wol Euler: highly recommended, sam
    Eliza Madrigal nods...
Zen Arado: what game were they playing? O
    Agatha Macbeth: Totally brilliant end

    Wol Euler smiles.

Eliza Madrigal: when reading Eden and Sunshine's notes made me think of a few people it would be lovely to see more often
Eliza Madrigal: like the Corvi sighting on Sunday :)
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: that was nice.
    Eliza Madrigal smiles @ Aggers

    Eliza Madrigal: so rare :)
Pila Mulligan: I think they are making a virtual world somewhere Ags
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah ok, thx
Eliza Madrigal: I guess it is the nature of SL that people overdo then undo
    Eliza Madrigal: then moderate
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: but always able to redo
    Eliza Madrigal: yes :))
    Wol Euler nods.
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Eliza Madrigal: and it is good to switch gears sometimes... even in PaB
milakel Resident: it's not important not to let yourself burn out
    milakel Resident: take it easy
Eliza Madrigal nods... yes, but too easy then not interesting (for me)
Eliza Madrigal: so there is a balance?
    Pila Mulligan: of course
    Wol Euler: in all things
    Agatha Macbeth: Hopefully
Wol Euler: *needed in all things
