Yakuzza Lethecus: haven´t had afterwork coffee yet, when i came home i had a letter from the customs office so i had to call them how to manage an issue with a package since it´s value is lower then going to the office physically

Rain.

Storm Nordwind is relishing the freshness coming through the window as a result of the first rain for months here.

Storm Nordwind: Yes. Snow we had. But rain in abundance we need.
Yakuzza Lethecus: here it´s grey in grey atm, even had to scrap ice from the windshield this morning
Storm Nordwind: I went to bed at 11:30 last night with the rain pelting on the window and lightning flickering around the sky, and I thought, "Well there might be a tornado or two in all that, but if it comes, it comes!" And went to sleep. :)

Yakuzza Lethecus: I appreciate thunderstorms very much with rain, but fortunatly the possibility of twisters is very low here

Bleu Oleander: the 90 sec pause give you plenty of time :)
Storm Nordwind: Yes. It's possible. You'd end up standing and you'd have to sit by yourself. And it would be accurate with the train in a distance station. Due to SL lag it might miss if the train was moving!
Bleu Oleander: gives new meaning to "just missed that train"

Vehicles.

Storm Nordwind: I was thinking for the 99 project how much vehicles are part of what I do... and how my SL and RL experience is full of it - though not in the way you might imagine

Storm Nordwind: No Bleu, unless the train happened to be there
Bleu Oleander: say more about your vehicles?
Storm Nordwind: I wrote in the 99 day project... "I notice I'm a person of vehicles and riding vehicles. In SL, I build vehicles because they're fun as well as marginally utilitarian. But I'm also a person that sees no differentiation between SL and RL. In both, my mind rides an avatar (which I may have some affection for, but with which I scarcely identify). And my awareness rides my mind."

Titanic.

oO0Oo Resident: was reading about this Titanic museum (museum?) in Belfast.
Storm Nordwind: Oh Sam?
Zen Arado: yes just opened
Bleu Oleander: yes, I read about it also
Zen Arado: it was where it was built
oO0Oo Resident: Sorry.. diverging.. Just saw Zen's shirt.. My vehicle kind of swerved.. but.. steady on now.. ;)

Storm Nordwind: Should I be cynical and presume the museum is simply capitalizing on historical hype?
Bleu Oleander: could one say that about most museums?
Zen Arado: well you can take many perspectives on it
Zen Arado: there is a lot of interest in it
Zen Arado: many relatives of people who died
Bleu Oleander: we're planning on visiting the 9/11 memorial when in NYC in a few weeks
Zen Arado: if it hadn't samk it would have been long forgotten
Zen Arado: sank
Storm Nordwind: Ah... you see that's different. (About the relatives) Here there seems just more and more levels of voyeurism... AND NOW IN 3D!!!
oO0Oo Resident: Similar to 9/11 in a sense. Two very big things.. come crashing down.
Zen Arado: there is something of the British class system about it

Bleu Oleander: I think it's more a shared memory than voyeurism
Storm Nordwind: Yes Bleu - with 9/11. But with the Titantic, I doubt there's much in the way of shared memory in the US.
Zen Arado: I heard it explained that it marked a watershed for the British class system of Victorian times. The passengers list of those who died was in order of rank and class whereas a few years later the people who died in the first world war were listed alphabetically.
Storm Nordwind: Now that is interesting Zen
Bleu Oleander: We saw the Broadway play "Titanic" ...

Arrogance, impermanence and comeuppance.

Zen Arado: it also marked a time of British arrogance, that they could design the ship that was unsinkable
Storm Nordwind: My wife was watching Downton Abbey series and apparently it illustrated the start of that dissolving of the British class system like that.
oO0Oo Resident: Sky scrapers too.. often a bit arrogant in their designs to be bigger, tallest..

Storm Nordwind: I wonder what arrogances we are guilty of today, individually and collectively, for which we're waiting for our comeuppance...

oO0Oo Resident: Dissolution of all kinds. If the Titanic can sink, and the World Trade centers can fall.. What is not possible in the realm of change and impermanence in daily life?

Zen Arado: it would be much easier to take a photograph of the front of a shirt

Storm Nordwind: if it's already on a model, you'll get their contours superimposed later on an avatars contours. You do need it flat.
