The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind.
Bunny feet.
Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning storm
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Yaku. Good morning bunny feet :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: got to buy real bunnyslippers some day, might be good gag
Storm Nordwind: Where would you wear them?
Yakuzza Lethecus: haha, at home where else
Storm Nordwind: Not shopping, or at work? :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hmm, have to ask for the steel bar version of the slippers then
Storm Nordwind: haha!
Storm Nordwind thinks this conversation will eventually be useless without real life pictures!
Yakuzza Lethecus: ah, it´s just silly so far anyway :)
--BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus: but i am a bit tired to silly is fine
Storm Nordwind: You are tired as evening approaches. I am tired as morning wakens.
Yakuzza Lethecus: haven´t had afterwork coffee yet, when i came home i had a letter from the customs office so i had to call them how to manage an issue with a package since it´s value is lower then going to the office physically
Yakuzza Lethecus: and some other calls
Storm Nordwind: The daily round ... so many little challenges we can become distracted by and immersed in
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey bleu,sam
Storm Nordwind: Hi Bleu!
Bleu Oleander: hi everyone :)
Storm Nordwind waves to a distant Sam
Bleu Oleander: hi Sam :)
oO0Oo Resident: Hi Bleu :)
oO0Oo Resident: Hi Storm, Yaku :)
Rain.
Storm Nordwind is relishing the freshness coming through the window as a result of the first rain for months here.
Bleu Oleander: lovely
Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
oO0Oo Resident: :)
Bleu Oleander: we're due to have rain later this week
Yakuzza Lethecus: last i recalled where those heavy snow pictures you posted once
Storm Nordwind: Yes. Snow we had. But rain in abundance we need.
Yakuzza Lethecus: here it´s grey in grey atm, even had to scrap ice from the windshield this morning
Storm Nordwind: I went to bed at 11:30 last night with the rain pelting on the window and lightning flickering around the sky, and I thought, "Well there might be a tornado or two in all that, but if it comes, it comes!" And went to sleep. :)
Bleu Oleander: :)
Bleu Oleander: like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ
Yakuzza Lethecus: I appreciate thunderstorms very much with rain, but fortunatly the possibility of twisters is very low here
Storm Nordwind: There was one earlier yesterday a few miles from here, Yaku - the season approaches.
Just missing the train.
Bleu Oleander looks to see if anyone is arriving by train
Storm Nordwind: Yes - arriving by train to these sessions is fun!
oO0Oo Resident: !
Bleu Oleander: anticipation of arrivees each time the train arives
Yakuzza Lethecus: is it possible to have a dynamic tp landingspot on the train ?
Storm Nordwind: haha Yaku! Er...
Storm Nordwind: hmm...
Storm Nordwind: never give me a challenge like that!
Bleu Oleander: ha!
Storm Nordwind: In a few minutes I will have worked out how to do it
Bleu Oleander: not if but when
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind: /me's inventor's mind goes full speed
Bleu Oleander: the 90 sec pause give you plenty of time :)
Storm Nordwind: Yes. It's possible. You'd end up standing and you'd have to sit by yourself. And it would be accurate with the train in a distance station. Due to SL lag it might miss if the train was moving!
Bleu Oleander: gives new meaning to "just missed that train"
Storm Nordwind laughs
Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
oO0Oo Resident grins
Yakuzza Lethecus: hello san
oO0Oo Resident waves
Bleu Oleander: hi San
Bleu Oleander: if you logged off while on the train and logged back in to your "last location" would you land back on the train?
Vehicles.
Storm Nordwind: I was thinking for the 99 project how much vehicles are part of what I do... and how my SL and RL experience is full of it - though not in the way you might imagine
Bleu Oleander: intrigued ...
Storm Nordwind: No Bleu, unless the train happened to be there
Bleu Oleander: say more about your vehicles?
Storm Nordwind: I wrote in the 99 day project... "I notice I'm a person of vehicles and riding vehicles. In SL, I build vehicles because they're fun as well as marginally utilitarian. But I'm also a person that sees no differentiation between SL and RL. In both, my mind rides an avatar (which I may have some affection for, but with which I scarcely identify). And my awareness rides my mind."
oO0Oo Resident: Maha? Hina? Vajra? Vehicles...
Storm Nordwind: There's that two Sam! :)
Storm Nordwind: *too
oO0Oo Resident: three? ;)
Storm Nordwind chuckles
oO0Oo Resident: me grins
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey zen
Bleu Oleander: hi Zen
Storm Nordwind: Oh and.. can't remember the term ... might be eka(yana) = One Vehicle
oO0Oo Resident waves
Zen Arado: Hi all
Storm Nordwind: Hi Zen
Santoshima Resident: hi zen :)
oO0Oo Resident cams in on new T-Shirt ;)
Bleu Oleander: so your mind is a vehicle for awareness?
Storm Nordwind: That's the way I see it, yes
Titanic.
oO0Oo Resident: was reading about this Titanic museum (museum?) in Belfast.
Storm Nordwind: Oh Sam?
Zen Arado: yes just opened
Bleu Oleander: yes, I read about it also
Zen Arado: it was where it was built
oO0Oo Resident: Sorry.. diverging.. Just saw Zen's shirt.. My vehicle kind of swerved.. but.. steady on now.. ;)
Zen Arado: lots don't seem to knwo that
Storm Nordwind: Should I be cynical and presume the museum is simply capitalizing on historical hype?
Bleu Oleander: could one say that about most museums?
Zen Arado: well you can take many perspectives on it
Zen Arado: there is a lot of interest in it
Zen Arado: many relatives of people who died
Bleu Oleander: we're planning on visiting the 9/11 memorial when in NYC in a few weeks
Zen Arado: if it hadn't samk it would have been long forgotten
Zen Arado: sank
Storm Nordwind: Ah... you see that's different. (About the relatives) Here there seems just more and more levels of voyeurism... AND NOW IN 3D!!!
oO0Oo Resident: Similar to 9/11 in a sense. Two very big things.. come crashing down.
Zen Arado: there is something of the British class system about it
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: I think it's more a shared memory than voyeurism
Storm Nordwind: Yes Bleu - with 9/11. But with the Titantic, I doubt there's much in the way of shared memory in the US.
Zen Arado: I heard it explained that it marked a watershed for the British class system of Victorian times. The passengers list of those who died was in order of rank and class whereas a few years later the people who died in the first world war were listed alphabetically.
Storm Nordwind: Now that is interesting Zen
Bleu Oleander: We saw the Broadway play "Titanic" ...
oO0Oo Resident: "King of the World!" might be the shared memory :)
Arrogance, impermanence and comeuppance.
Zen Arado: it also marked a time of British arrogance, that they could design the ship that was unsinkable
Storm Nordwind: My wife was watching Downton Abbey series and apparently it illustrated the start of that dissolving of the British class system like that.
oO0Oo Resident: Sky scrapers too.. often a bit arrogant in their designs to be bigger, tallest..
Bleu Oleander: :)
Storm Nordwind: I wonder what arrogances we are guilty of today, individually and collectively, for which we're waiting for our comeuppance...
Bleu Oleander: don't have to look too far
oO0Oo Resident: Dissolution of all kinds. If the Titanic can sink, and the World Trade centers can fall.. What is not possible in the realm of change and impermanence in daily life?
Storm Nordwind nods to Sam
Bleu Oleander: everything changes and all is impermanent
Bleu Oleander: actually that's a good thing ... would be no museums otherwise :)
Storm Nordwind smiles
Bleu Oleander: and no museum gift shops! hehe
Zen Arado: yes, it points to the futility of thinking that things are fixed and static
Storm Nordwind: Yes Zen. And it also points to the assumptions we have about being able to treat our home with carelessness and impunity.
Santoshima Resident: yes
New homes for Bleu and Santoshima.
Bleu Oleander reflects on just having torn down her sl home
Storm Nordwind: Oh! Can you tell us more Bleu?
oO0Oo Resident: those without homes may realise that best of all
Santoshima Resident: true
Storm Nordwind: Ah yes Sam
Bleu Oleander: feels good to re-build
Bleu Oleander: a fresh beginning in a way
Bleu Oleander: hard to do ... but always feels better after I do it
oO0Oo Resident: fresh rains.. fresh beginnings :)
oO0Oo Resident: Plans for something new there Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: already something new
Storm Nordwind laughs
Santoshima Resident: :)
Bleu Oleander: that's what is so great about sl
oO0Oo Resident: oh.. will have to visit
Bleu Oleander: here today ... gone in a second ... back in a few minutes
Storm Nordwind: Do you need an NDR station there? ;)
Bleu Oleander: yes, please visit anytime and hang out
Zen Arado: everything is new all the time :-)
Bleu Oleander: would love a NDR station
Bleu Oleander: been lobbying for that for a while :)
Storm Nordwind chuckles
oO0Oo Resident: :)
oO0Oo Resident: ty for the LM Bleu
Santoshima Resident: have also rebuilt in sl ... and you are all welcome to visit, next to storm's meditation shrine .... a moss garden and treehouse ...
Santoshima Resident: ty, bleu
Storm Nordwind: And butterflies!
Santoshima Resident: yup
Bleu Oleander: would love to take a peek up there San :)
Bleu Oleander: must have a nice view
--BELL--
Santoshima Resident: nice to see PaBland
Bleu Oleander: PaBland :)
Storm Nordwind imagines a chamomile lawn...
Bleu Oleander: :)
Zen Arado: ty for LM's
Hot PaB food - it's official!
oO0Oo Resident thinks the Pablano chile, should be the official chile pepper of PaB
Bleu Oleander: haha!
Santoshima Resident: :))
Storm Nordwind might need to come up with a recipe
oO0Oo Resident: Chille real yay nose
Bleu Oleander: ha!
oO0Oo Resident grins
oO0Oo Resident: Arizonians know
Santoshima Resident: i'll watch for that recipe, Storm! bye everyone, enjoy the day ~
Bleu Oleander: they do!
Storm Nordwind waves
Zen Arado: bye san :)
Bleu Oleander waves
Zen Arado waves
oO0Oo Resident waves
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye san
Wave.
Bleu Oleander: is there an SL wave script? for many avatars?
Bleu Oleander: like at a football game?
Storm Nordwind: Maybe. We could make one though. "Mexican wave"
Zen Arado: a synchronised wave?
Storm Nordwind: Easy enough to do
Bleu Oleander: cool
oO0Oo Resident laughs .. that would be fun!
Bleu Oleander: for the friday sessions
Storm Nordwind stamps on his inventor's mind
Zen Arado: a Mexican wave is sequential
Storm Nordwind: yes
Storm Nordwind: It would probably show SL lag in all its glory!
Zen Arado: yes that would be fun to see a wave go around the pavilion
Yakuzza Lethecus: storms sl groupwave lagmeter
Bleu Oleander: oh yes, a laggy wave would not be very effective
Storm Nordwind watches idly with amusement as his mind works out how to do it
Bleu Oleander: ha!
Photographing clothes and making shirts.
Zen Arado: I'm trying to work out how to photograph clothing
Bleu Oleander: in rl?
Zen Arado: yes
Bleu Oleander: and then make sl clothing?
Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: I need to find a way to hang it up to photograph
Bleu Oleander: gets tricky ... but takes practice
Zen Arado: I can't press thumbtacks into the wall
Storm Nordwind: In bits, then quilt it together?
Bleu Oleander: yes
Zen Arado: how do you do it Bleu?
Zen Arado: it would be much easier to take a photograph of the front of a shirt
Zen Arado: yes but they don't let you see the back of the shirt :)
Bleu Oleander: better to photograph on someone I think
Zen Arado: yes, if they stood against a white background
Zen Arado: I suppose I could paint the things on
Zen Arado: and just use a texture
oO0Oo Resident: It's often fun.. solving problems .. occurs.. :)
Storm Nordwind: if it's already on a model, you'll get their contours superimposed later on an avatars contours. You do need it flat.
Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: yes, it's good fun
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: sometimes though if it's on someone the contours add to it
Zen Arado: maybe I could start with a plain shirt and try to paint a collar and buttons
Zen Arado: hmmm...
Zen Arado: It's good artistic practice anyway
oO0Oo Resident: :)
Bleu Oleander: :)
Zen Arado: and then that would lead to being more creative
Zen Arado: :-)
Bleu Oleander: put your Robin pattern shirt on and photograph your avatar so you know where the lines fall
Bleu Oleander: saves a lot of trial and error
Zen Arado: yes, I do use the templates
Bleu Oleander: did you make a template shirt?
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone
Bleu Oleander: bye Yaku
Storm Nordwind hasn't taken off his T shirt since Zen gave it to him
Zen Arado: bye Yaku
oO0Oo Resident: Yaku :) gut gehen :)
oO0Oo Resident: gehen Sie gut?
oO0Oo Resident: Etwas so da
Zen Arado: oh yes I have made women's tops too using the full template
Bleu Oleander is getting used to seeing Storm in red
Zen Arado: Stormy in red :-)
Storm Nordwind: It's a nice pastel red with just a hint of blue in it. I like it. Or is it because I'm so lazy or unaware to change it? ;-)
Zen Arado: well, I hope it is the former :-)
Bleu Oleander: suits you :)
Bleu Oleander: brings out your coloring
Storm Nordwind smiles
Bleu Oleander: :)
oO0Oo Resident: :)
Zen Arado: I better go and make my tea
Bleu Oleander: well, will go to check out San's place
Bleu Oleander: bye for now everyone :)
Zen Arado: byee
oO0Oo Resident: Bye Zen, Bleu.. Be well.
oO0Oo Resident: Thanks Storm :) I'll fly away now. Enjoy that fresh.. rain cleaned air :) Be well.
Storm Nordwind: You too Sam. Delighted as always in your presence :)
oO0Oo Resident: :)) bfn
