The Guardian for this long very interesting session was Agatha Macbeth. The comments are by Agatha Macbeth.

    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Stormy
Storm Nordwind: Hi there Aggers :)
Agatha Macbeth: Everything good with you?
Storm Nordwind: Not too bad thank you. :) And yourself?
Agatha Macbeth: Mm, I'm good but chilly
    Storm Nordwind: How so?
    Agatha Macbeth: Bloody weather here
    Agatha Macbeth: wet too
Storm Nordwind: Send the wet and I'll send you the heat
    Agatha Macbeth: I wish :p
Storm Nordwind checks the temperature outside and sees it's 81
    Agatha Macbeth: Ooh
Agatha Macbeth: What times are these meditations you do in the village?
Storm Nordwind: 15 minutes before every PaB session
    Agatha Macbeth: Every session?
    Storm Nordwind: Yes
    Agatha Macbeth: Wow
    Storm Nordwind: It's recorded!
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh I see
Storm Nordwind: I can sleep in if I want to :)
Agatha Macbeth: you aren't always there in person then?
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi Alfie
    Storm Nordwind: Hi boxy
    Alfred Kelberry: it works
Storm Nordwind: No Aggers. Once or twice a day at most
    Agatha Macbeth: What works Alf?
Alfred Kelberry: i see a huge pile of folks on the south. is it where the hub is?
Storm Nordwind: yes. redirected form duff sims
    Storm Nordwind: *from
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, that's Hanja welcome centre
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Where I first arrived :)
Alfred Kelberry: good time to recruit new guardians :)
Storm Nordwind: "Welcome to Second Life. We're having a spot of bother at the moment. Please stand here patiently with the other 159 avatars."
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Alfred Kelberry: let's go and preach the wonders of play as being to them
Agatha Macbeth: They are probably all trawling for sex as we speak
    Storm Nordwind: In voice Aggers
    Agatha Macbeth grins
    Alfred Kelberry: i'll go check
    Agatha Macbeth: Saddos eh?

    Boxy poofs
    Storm Nordwind laughs
    Storm Nordwind: And he did
Agatha Macbeth: I shouldn't mention the S word with Boxy should I?
Storm Nordwind: Apparently it has an enlivening effect!
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Sharon!
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Sharon :)
Agatha Macbeth: Nice to see you
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Storm :) Hi Aggers
SophiaSharon Larnia: nice to see you too
Storm Nordwind feels conspicuously without animal ears ;)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: aww :P
Agatha Macbeth: Don't you have any bunny ears or something?
    Storm Nordwind shakes his head
    Storm Nordwind: But it's OK...
Storm Nordwind: that enables me to pet those with them
Agatha Macbeth: What a sheltered life you do lead eh?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Storm Nordwind looks askance at the avatar that rarely leaves her county ;)
SophiaSharon Larnia: mainly wanted to see if I could log in

    Alf returns
Alfred Kelberry: holy cow. i hate sl.
    Agatha Macbeth: wb Alf
    Storm Nordwind laughs
    Alfred Kelberry: kitty :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Did you pull?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Boxy :)
Storm Nordwind: It only shows how good PaB is by contrast!
Alfred Kelberry: just back from the hub, sharon
Alfred Kelberry: you do not want to go there
    SophiaSharon Larnia: /
    SophiaSharon Larnia: no?
Agatha Macbeth: Actually it can be quite entertaining
Agatha Macbeth: specially on saturday night
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh landing hub, yes youre right
Storm Nordwind listens for the entertaining stories
SophiaSharon Larnia: it looks dead until you turn on voice, eww
Agatha Macbeth: Oh it isn't dead ;-)
Alfred Kelberry: no wonder why a lot of people think sl sucks and is a nest of sex and irrational behavior cause it is :)
    Alfred Kelberry: woly!
Wol Euler: hello aggers, storm, sophia, boxy
Agatha Macbeth: Thought that was why you went?
    Agatha Macbeth: Hiya Wollage
SophiaSharon Larnia: no it isn't. It's a wonder people come back to sl. Oh, wait....
    Alfred Kelberry: yep, that too
       --BELL--1315
Storm Nordwind: You're saying this as though it's news, boxy!
Agatha Macbeth: [maybe it's news to him]
SophiaSharon Larnia: (no to agger's statement, not yours boxy)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Wol
    Storm Nordwind: Sheltered life
    Agatha Macbeth: Could be
Alfred Kelberry: it is, somewhat. as i only visit a few places here and none of them provide sex :/
Agatha Macbeth: Are you sad or happy about that?
SophiaSharon Larnia laughs gently at 'provides'
    Alfred Kelberry: *frowns*
    Alfred Kelberry: kitty :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Kitty?
Storm Nordwind: yes... can you say more Alfred? ;-))
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
    Agatha Macbeth smiles @ Wol

                  Snapshot_002.png
Wol Euler points to the Search feature.
Alfred Kelberry: guess i search for the wrong keywords
Wol Euler: remember *first* to enable access to Adult areas and items in your preferences before searching :)
Agatha Macbeth: Well that's a sure way to not find anything!
Alfred Kelberry: but seriously. if i was a new comer sent to a hub like this, i'd log off in 3 minutes and never look back :)
Agatha Macbeth: 'I was looking for sex so I searched for halibut'
    Wol Euler chuckles.
Wol Euler: they aren't usually sent to hubs these days, not as such
    Alfred Kelberry: that's good
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh they aren't?
SophiaSharon Larnia: I landed in divine mother and had a different experience
Storm Nordwind: "Halibut" - good log title. And good code word in future.
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Wol Euler: their exit from the birthing areas is either to the Events list or the recommended destinations list
Wol Euler: they'd have to be pretty unlucky to end up at a hub
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah, interesting
Alfred Kelberry: why did you say halibut, aga?
Agatha Macbeth: Cos it sounded fishy
    Wol Euler grins.
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
    Alfred Kelberry: ah
    Alfred Kelberry: salmon does too
Agatha Macbeth: I could have said 'proletarian revolution' if you prefer
Wol Euler: a simple but convincing example of a bad search term :)
Storm Nordwind: You're being very unkind to our dear parceled puppy
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
    Wol Euler: seriously though
    Agatha Macbeth: Sorry dear Boxy
Alfred Kelberry: didn't know it's a canonical bad keyword
Wol Euler: SL is full of intereseting and entertaining and indeed educating stuff
    Alfred Kelberry: aga, what for?
    Agatha Macbeth: Mm, yes. true
Wol Euler: it's a perfectly fine word *in itself*, but read her entire sentence again :)
Alfred Kelberry: sl is also full of cute avatars
Alfred Kelberry: like kitty or woly
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, me for one ♥
    Alfred Kelberry: :P
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: and you
Storm Nordwind: That's the only reason I log in
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ha, Storm
    Alfred Kelberry: ms raffi :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Raff
    Wol Euler: hello raffi
Alfred Kelberry: and her golden heels :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Raffila
    Raffila Millgrove: hi everyone
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Raffi!
    Agatha Macbeth: Golden eels?
Wol Euler: fish on your mind tonight
Alfred Kelberry: you wish, aga :P
    Agatha Macbeth: Seems so
Wol Euler: plaice and chips for dinner again?
Agatha Macbeth: It's not even friday yet :p
Storm Nordwind: Your plaice or mine?
    Agatha Macbeth: Bum bum
Alfred Kelberry: i wouldn't mind grilled salmon now
Wol Euler: I have to admit, fish and chips is pretty high on the (short) list of things I miss from London
Agatha Macbeth: You have sushi to compensate :)
    Wol Euler: true
Alfred Kelberry: woly, what else is on it?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Freud
    Alfred Kelberry: kori :)
    Wol Euler: hello freud
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi K
    Agatha Macbeth: er, F
    Storm Nordwind waves
    Freud Jungsten: Heya
Storm Nordwind: Curry is on my list. Plus decent honey and cheese. I can make my own curry, but the other two are more difficult.
Wol Euler: oh, yes, curry definitely.
Alfred Kelberry: storm is all about food :)
    Wol Euler: and pubs
SophiaSharon Larnia: you mean you dont churn it yourself?
Freud Jungsten: Honey needs to be great or it is not worth having.
Agatha Macbeth wonders what honey cheese and curry tastes like
Wol Euler: a proper pub, with leather sofas and half-panelled walls and a crackling fireplace and the Sunday newspapers
Storm Nordwind: No Sharon: my slaves escaped
Freud Jungsten: Wish I could do cheese.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ack
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sounds great Wol
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, we're onto the leather and the slaves already :p
    SophiaSharon Larnia: heh
Alfred Kelberry: woly, gah... not exciting :)
    Wol Euler: :-P
Agatha Macbeth: Not for you maybe
Wol Euler: didn't say it was exciting :)
    Freud Jungsten: Does sound nice.
Wol Euler: the older I get, the less "exciting" excites me
    Storm Nordwind nods
Alfred Kelberry: well, if i'd find woly in this pvc outfit on one of those leather sofas - that would be :)
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe exciting needs a new definition
       --BELL--1330
Alfred Kelberry: *clicks kitty's tail, but nothing happens*
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry Alfred! :D
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Agatha Macbeth: She knew you were coming Alf and de-scripted it ;-)
    Alfred Kelberry: apparently :)
Agatha Macbeth: 'Never trust that Boxy'
SophiaSharon Larnia: I dont love the text in chat, what can I say
Alfred Kelberry: btw, do you think it'd be nice to change the birds sound here in the pavilion?
    Alfred Kelberry: try something new
    Wol Euler: no
Agatha Macbeth: Hmm, depends on what it says I think :p
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: well, whatever :)
Agatha Macbeth: Just don't get peacocks like the ones at PP
    Wol Euler: oh yes, agreed
    Agatha Macbeth: they are *noisy*
Alfred Kelberry: 4 years and it's all the same
Wol Euler: might I ask, if you do change them, swap them out one by one at long intervals so that crusty old stick-in-the-muds like myeslf don't notice
    SophiaSharon Larnia smiles
    Agatha Macbeth: Yep, agreed
Storm Nordwind: Evolution takes longer than 4 years boxy!
    Wol Euler: good answer :)
    Alfred Kelberry: not in sl
    Agatha Macbeth: Warthog among butterflies
Wol Euler wonders where she heard that before
Alfred Kelberry: empires rise and fall in sl in 1 year :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmm :)
Storm Nordwind: That's because they're addicted to change boxy
Agatha Macbeth: Or they couldn't pay the tier
    Alfred Kelberry: change is good
Alfred Kelberry: it's what brought us sl in the first place
SophiaSharon Larnia: thinking it may be the tier
Storm Nordwind: It's one choice among many good things
Alfred Kelberry: but once we get into the comfort zone, we don't want any change to disturb it
Agatha Macbeth: Do you have a LM Alf?
Freud Jungsten: But change for change's sake is not always good.
    Wol Euler: agreed
    Agatha Macbeth: Indeed
Alfred Kelberry: i have many :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: Im not particularly attached to a comfort zone
Agatha Macbeth: Can be downright bad sometimes
Freud Jungsten: I love both my comfort and uncomfortable zones.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Alfred Kelberry: life starts beyond your comfort zone
Wol Euler wonders what that means
    Freud Jungsten: I dissagreee. Boxy...
Storm Nordwind: I'm not attached to change or not change. Like when the guy at the US Embassy in London asked me for all my addresses since I was 16, I said, "What, all 28 of them?"
Freud Jungsten: There is great living in your comfort Zone.
    Wol Euler: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: storm
Storm Nordwind: (He didn't want to know of the 12 before I was 16)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I have a lot too Storm but not as many as that
Agatha Macbeth: Were you on the run from Interpol or something?
Storm Nordwind: No I was chasing Sharon.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: haha
    Agatha Macbeth: Aha
Alfred Kelberry: kori, yes, but you go beyond and extend it then :)
    Agatha Macbeth: A worthwile cause
Wol Euler: did you catch her?
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'm not sure if you'd want to go to those places
Freud Jungsten: I just think it is different.
Freud Jungsten: Lving in your comfort zone is rich.. living outside is passionate.
    Storm Nordwind: Good quote :)
    Wol Euler: nice
    Agatha Macbeth ponders
SophiaSharon Larnia: If someone feels happiness and fulfillment living within their comfort zone, I feel no need to encourage them out of it
    Storm Nordwind: Quite so
    Agatha Macbeth: Like a snail
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: like a buddha
SophiaSharon Larnia: Just to be there is they are feeling constrained by routine
    SophiaSharon Larnia: if they*
       --BELL--1345
Raffila Millgrove: xmple of a good nudge out of comfort zone. Many seniors were wary of pc.. but those who were assisted in venturing online--out of their comfort zones--were thrilled to exchange emails with grandchildren and to receive family photos.
Alfred Kelberry: kitty, now there's a question. should we encourage "poor north korean people" to embrace democracy if they are happy within their comfort zone?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :) great example
    Freud Jungsten: Bad example.
Freud Jungsten: They have no choice.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: are they Boxy
Storm Nordwind: Alfred, tell me this: "Do you ever get bored?"
    Agatha Macbeth: I don't, don't have time
SophiaSharon Larnia: discussion such as that are difficu;t without me talking with 'poor north korean people' myself
Raffila Millgrove: the grand parent thing is easy to documents and easy to relate to compared with N. Korea. just sayin'
Agatha Macbeth: Wow, Pema is on
Freud Jungsten: According to Mazlo, someone that is starving to death may not be able to make the most rational decisions.
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Pema!

    And here he is!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hmm
    Freud Jungsten: Bozho
    Wol Euler: hello pema
Agatha Macbeth: Konnichi wa Pem :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Pema :)
    Alfred Kelberry: pema san :)
    Pema Pera: hi everybody!
    Raffila Millgrove: hi Pema
SophiaSharon Larnia: nice to see you Pema
Agatha Macbeth: How good to see you again
Alfred Kelberry: have you been here before, pema? :)
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Agatha Macbeth: [even if you are grey to me]
    Wol Euler chuckles.
    SophiaSharon Larnia laughs
Pema Pera wondering whether he landed on boxy or whether boxy snuggled up to him . . .
    SophiaSharon Larnia: landed
Pema Pera: not much at this time, Alfred :)
Alfred Kelberry: and then i snuggled you :)
Freud Jungsten: They make a nice couple.
    Pema Pera: :-)
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, hair still short[ish]
Pema Pera: (just woke up, 5:50 am in Kyoto :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: good morning :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Wow
Freud Jungsten: Is there actually no PaB romance and drama, or do I just miss it?
    Alfred Kelberry: good morning :)
Agatha Macbeth: Is it light yet?
    Wol Euler: wow,t hat's early
SophiaSharon Larnia: rise and shine sleepyhead
    Pema Pera: beginning to
Raffila Millgrove: are any cherry trees stil in bloom now in Kyoto? they are gone i hear form Tokyo
Wol Euler: we do all that in IM, freud :)
Agatha Macbeth: You just miss it Freud ;-)
    Pema Pera: only the "yaezakura"
Alfred Kelberry: woly and me is a wonderful love story
Freud Jungsten: Fine... I just get left out evidently... frowns
Pema Pera: the normal "sakura" is already finished
    Freud Jungsten pouts
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww *hugs*
Freud Jungsten: That's more like it... smiles
Freud Jungsten: wow.. I really know how to kill a chat.
SophiaSharon Larnia: we were talking about comfort zones, Pema. Loosely
Storm Nordwind: Better than killing a cat
    Pema Pera: yes, Sharon?
    Freud Jungsten: And lack-of-comfort zones.
Agatha Macbeth: Actually we have cherry and apple blossom here now
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Wol Euler: everyone is in IM assuring each other of our undying love
Agatha Macbeth: seems so incongrous with the cold tho
Alfred Kelberry: pema, is arrival to kyoto a routine for you after so many times, or you always find 9 sec to wonder about something? :)
Pema Pera: IM as related to comfort zones?
Pema Pera: (semi-routine; takes still a few days to really get used to everything)
Pema Pera: is the equanimity topic still being discussed?
    Alfred Kelberry: no
    Alfred Kelberry: :P
Agatha Macbeth: We could start it up again
Wol Euler: it could be :)
    Wol Euler: snap
    Pema Pera: let's!
    Agatha Macbeth: Indeed
    Wol Euler: fire away
    Agatha Macbeth: Yay
Pema Pera: I feel pretty equinamous (?) just out of bed
Freud Jungsten: I vote against equanimity.
Alfred Kelberry: what it is for you, pema?
    Pema Pera: balance
Alfred Kelberry: yes, most folks said the same
Alfred Kelberry: wiki page is however pretty radical on this topic
Pema Pera: an underlying layer of peace, under the top layer of excitements :-)
Pema Pera: and balance between both
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye for now, gtg
    Alfred Kelberry: ah, nice picture
    Freud Jungsten: ciao
    Pema Pera: bye Sophia!
Agatha Macbeth: Take care Shaz <3
    Storm Nordwind waves
    Wol Euler: bye sharon
Alfred Kelberry: it's good to note that excitement and other emotions are not opposed to equanimity
Pema Pera: I think they can be included
Alfred Kelberry: yes, in various proportions
       --BELL--1400
Raffila Millgrove will look forward to reading the rest of this in the log.. as she has to run to another event.
    Alfred Kelberry: raffi :)
Wol Euler: bye raffik, take care
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye raff
    Pema Pera: bye raffila!
Alfred Kelberry: delayed thread finished :)
Alfred Kelberry: any fun kyoto stories, pema?
    Pema Pera smiles
Agatha Macbeth: 'Two guys from Kyoto walked into a bar...'
    Pema Pera: :)
Freud Jungsten: Heard a joke like this today... one sec.
    Agatha Macbeth: Uh oh
Freud Jungsten: Have to think about this sort of thing.. grins
Freud Jungsten: OK... I guy walks into a bar and says "Ouch!!!'
Freud Jungsten: It was made of steel.
    Wol Euler grins.
    Agatha Macbeth: Nice, Freud
    Pema Pera: :)
Agatha Macbeth: We'll call you ok? ;-)
    Alfred Kelberry: huh?
Freud Jungsten: I think I know three jokes now.
    Freud Jungsten: lol
Pema Pera perhaps Agatha is in a bar too ?
Agatha Macbeth: Are the other two better?
    Agatha Macbeth: Sorry
Freud Jungsten: Let me see.... have to think.
    Freud Jungsten: OK...
    Agatha Macbeth grins
Storm Nordwind: Meanwhile I have a general question: How much of the time, on average, do you think it's reasonable or achievable - or even desirable - to experience (what you believe by your own definition is) equanimity?
Freud Jungsten: There are two muffins sitting in an oven.
Freud Jungsten: One muffin says... wow it is sooooo hot in here.
Freud Jungsten: The other muffin says...... Ahhh!!!!!! A talking muffin.
    Agatha Macbeth: Thanks Freud
    Wol Euler: :)
    Freud Jungsten: lol
    Storm Nordwind plays a rimshot
    Alfred Kelberry: oh, nice bit
    Alfred Kelberry: rimjob?
    Agatha Macbeth: Where?
Wol Euler: storm, I suspect it's probably a rare and transient state like "happiness" which evaporates when chased after
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe you'll catch it if you run slower
Wol Euler: definitely more likely to
    Agatha Macbeth makes a note
Wol Euler: perhaps it's more of an ideal than an experienced state
Pema Pera: or it may be more a bedrock aspect, something to fall back on, while on the surface many other things happen
    Storm Nordwind: Interesting.
Wol Euler: maybe I'm entirely wrong :) what do others think?
Freud Jungsten: OK.. I will be the desenting voice on this.... I do not think equinimty is a desirable state...
Storm Nordwind: I don't you can be "wrong" on this Wol.
Freud Jungsten: I thik we sort of naturally go there when we want to protect ourselves from the pain of deep emotions.
Storm Nordwind: And I can only speak from my own experience
Storm Nordwind: But since the topic was brought up this week, I've been thinking deeply about my own experience, and I find it's really what I experience most of the time. Or so it seems to me!
Freud Jungsten: And if that is good for you, good for you.
Storm Nordwind: But I wondered whether I was just odd in that way.
Agatha Macbeth: Nothing odd about you Stormy ;P
    Storm Nordwind laughs
    Wol Euler: lucky you
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: I am definitely much closer to that than I was say a decade ago, and that was closer than the decade before it
    Storm Nordwind nods
Wol Euler: but can't yet say that it#s my default state :)
Freud Jungsten: I default that directioin when I think I am about to get hurt.
Storm Nordwind: Yes, I think it can change like you describe, Wol, and perhaps be "worked on" (poor choice of words, sorry).
Wol Euler: it is a choice
Agatha Macbeth: Self defence is always a good motive :)
Wol Euler: one can choose to be positive or negative about the world, as a basic setting
       --BELL--1415
Wol Euler:I noticed that I was negative about life, and decided to change that
Alfred Kelberry: wait, the session is over, why are we quiet?
Wol Euler: [14:14] Play as Being 15 minute bell: Please observe 90 seconds of silence.
Pema Pera: the other day someone asked me whether I had gone through crises in my life, in terms of how I view the world, basic reality, and I had to pause to wonder on what level to answer that -- on a surface level all kinds of things happen everyday, like ripples on a pond; on a deeper level, once every so many years I might get quite disturbed about relationships, work, whatever; but on the deepest level I feel a continuity of unconditional peace that may be called equanimity (sorry Storm, long answer :-)
    Storm Nordwind applauds Wol's resolve
Agatha Macbeth: Or was it life that was negative about you? [grin]
Alfred Kelberry: it goes on like this 24/7, woly :)
    Wol Euler: ... and?
    Wol Euler: (boxy)
    Alfred Kelberry: nevermind :)
Storm Nordwind: Great (long) answer Pema!
    Wol Euler: wow, pema :)
Wol Euler: "a continuity of unconditional peace" is a pretty good definition
Storm Nordwind: I like that. Good description.
Agatha Macbeth: And a rare condition
Storm Nordwind: Well that's why I asked, to see how rare it was
    Alfred Kelberry: yes... unconditional
Pema Pera is curious to hear more about: [14:14] Wol Euler: I noticed that I was negative about life, and decided to change that
    Wol Euler: well :)
Wol Euler: l realized that I was angry all the time, frustrated and annoyed and impeded and hindered and surrounded by idiots
    Pema Pera: :)
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Agatha Macbeth: [should have been a politician]
Wol Euler: and after a few decades it occurred to me that (a) this was an incredibly egotistical view, thinking all those people got up each morning just to get in my way
    Pema Pera chuckles too
Wol Euler: and (b) that it was statistically very highly likely that I was doing the same to them
Wol Euler: I'm not sure what in particular brought me to that insight, perhaps we can just call it "maturity" which is sort of like calling it "a miracle" ;)
Wol Euler: but having seen that I thought I had to change it

    Quo vadis domine? :p
Agatha Macbeth: And did you succeed?
    Wol Euler: it's ongoing
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Wol Euler: yes I have succeeded in changing my base attitude enormously
    Agatha Macbeth: 'Work in progress'
Pema Pera: great story, Wol !
Wol Euler: no, it#s a constant struggle not to fall into that
    Pema Pera: and very recognizable
    Alfred Kelberry: ouch, a struggle
Alfred Kelberry: must be hard to maintain that
Wol Euler: bruce was talkng about toxic people yesterday, the contagiousness of negativity
Wol Euler: I still feel and have to fight against that
    Wol Euler: but I *do*
    Storm Nordwind applauds Wol again
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Agatha Macbeth: Yep
Alfred Kelberry: kudos to you, woly :)
    Wol Euler: thank you :)
Pema Pera: very easy to get annoyed -- reminds me of a quote: "we judge others by their actions, and ourselves by our motives"
    Wol Euler: absolutely
Alfred Kelberry: it's like realizing that it is you who was an idiot :)
    Wol Euler: exactly
Wol Euler: stupid is as stupid does, Forrest's mama always said - and she was right
Wol Euler: your PhD does not prevent you from behaving like an arse, nor should it prevent others from calling you out on it when you do
Alfred Kelberry: oh, don't start me on phd :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ok we won't
    Alfred Kelberry: thanks :)
    Agatha Macbeth: yw
Alfred Kelberry: it is very hard not to react
Storm Nordwind: When in an annoying situation, I remembered Uhlmann's Razor which states: "When stupidity is a sufficient explanation, there is no need to have recourse to any other." And first you laugh, but later, when you think about it more, you realize that the stupid one is you! :)
    Wol Euler nods.
    Agatha Macbeth: Probably
    Pema Pera: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder if he and Occam ever shared a bathroom?
Storm Nordwind: And Hanlon (whose razor is very similar)
Alfred Kelberry: so how many stupid people surround your life, storm? :)
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Wol Euler: I'd honestly say: none
    Storm Nordwind: None anymore boxy
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Storm Nordwind: They haven't changed. It's me that's changed
Wol Euler: and it's not because I moved to Stuttgart, but because I stopped overrating myself and underrating them
    Alfred Kelberry: that's an achievement
    Pema Pera nods
Wol Euler smiles and nods to Sturm
    Wol Euler: *storm
Pema Pera is getting up to catch some early Sun rays
Agatha Macbeth: Ach Herr Sturm! ;-)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Pema Pera: good seeing you all here!
Storm Nordwind doesn't mind being Deutschisized
    Storm Nordwind: Bye!
Wol Euler: bye pema, say hello to the hawks by the river for me!
    Pema Pera: be well
Agatha Macbeth: Sun well Pem, take care
    Wol Euler: and to kirememi
Pema Pera: will do, Wol :-)
Agatha Macbeth: Well that was a pleasant interlude
    Wol Euler: very
Wol Euler: it occurs to me that he acts here just as in his scientific RL :)
    Wol Euler: catalyses
       --BELL--1430
    Wol Euler grins.
Storm Nordwind: Yes you're right Wol. He does.
    Wol Euler smiles.
Storm Nordwind: perhaps we are all "works in progress".
Agatha Macbeth: It would seem so
Storm Nordwind: Maybe some know it. Some don't. Some go with it. Some rebel. Some know the direction. Some don't.
Wol Euler: we are either works in progress or internally dead
Wol Euler: or buddha, there is a third category
Agatha Macbeth: It's hard to stop evolution tho
Storm Nordwind: I'll let you know about that one when I get there Wol ;-))
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmm
Wol Euler: I was thinking about that as I sat on the subway (which in stuttgart is above-ground, but that's another story) with my iPod on listening to some great bassline in a middling good song
Wol Euler: nodding my head and tapping my feet in public, at the age of 53 :)
    Storm Nordwind smiles and listens
Wol Euler: realizing that the mid-50 yr olds around me weren't doing that
    Storm Nordwind: haha!
Agatha Macbeth: They are probably german :-)
Wol Euler: and I thought "wow, how old were you when you decided to drop your enjoyment of music?"
Storm Nordwind: You're not supposed to be having a good time Wol. You're supposed to be staid.
    Storm Nordwind: ;)
Storm Nordwind: Breaking societal norms like that - my goodness .... next thing we know you'll be happy!
    Wol Euler: gods forbid
Alfred Kelberry: it sucks when people get succumbed by their age
Storm Nordwind: Well they usually do, true
    Wol Euler nods.
    Agatha Macbeth: Succumb and see...
Wol Euler: but it is optional
    Wol Euler: heheh
Alfred Kelberry: i look at older folks who "accepted" their role and feel sorry for them. cheer up, go play ball, have fun!
    Agatha Macbeth: ...break a leg
    Alfred Kelberry: yes!
    Storm Nordwind: or hip
    Alfred Kelberry: that too :)
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: but hell, do you want to doze before the TV in your armchair forever?
Agatha Macbeth: No, and i don't!
Wol Euler: *doze in your armchair before the TV
    Storm Nordwind: Neither me
Alfred Kelberry: i'm glad that my dad stands the ground and is as youthful as ever :)
Storm Nordwind: But then, unlike most I've asked (except maybe Aggers here), I never ever get bored.
Agatha Macbeth: I bet he is too!
    Wol Euler: nor I
Wol Euler: not even on layovers in airports :)
    Storm Nordwind: Right!
Storm Nordwind thinks of Newark with affection
Agatha Macbeth: There's always plenty of thinking to do if nothing else
    Wol Euler: and people-watching
Alfred Kelberry: life's too awesome to get bored. i never want to go sleep cause i have stuff to do :)
    Wol Euler laughs.
    Storm Nordwind: And too short
Agatha Macbeth: It looks like you don't
    Alfred Kelberry: haha
Wol Euler: well, I wouldn't go that far. I love sleeping, it's one of my very favourite activities. I look forward to going to bed each evening
    Alfred Kelberry: good one, aga
    Agatha Macbeth: 24 hour Boxy
Alfred Kelberry: woly, it's cause you dream in your sleep. i don't.
    Wol Euler: oh, how sad
Agatha Macbeth: You do, everyone does
Agatha Macbeth: you just don't remember
Storm Nordwind: More cheese needed in your dogfood boxy
Alfred Kelberry: well, occasionally and i'm not really excited about it
    Alfred Kelberry: haha
    Alfred Kelberry: storm :)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Alfred Kelberry: i wish medicine was that easy. eat cheese - oh... awesome dreams :)
       --BELL--1445
Alfred Kelberry: eat halibut - oh.. i see aga :)
Agatha Macbeth: Depends which cheese maybe?
Storm Nordwind: A cheese eaten by halibut perhaps
    Wol Euler: cheesefish!
    Agatha Macbeth: Yum
Storm Nordwind starts on a recipe
    Agatha Macbeth: Yay
Alfred Kelberry: pema left and we're back to fishes
Alfred Kelberry: spiritual authority is gone
    Wol Euler: :-P
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder when the loaves will come round?
Storm Nordwind: But we're not bored with the fish
    Wol Euler: indeed not
    Wol Euler: no water-into-whine here
Storm Nordwind: Actually, I have to take the bread out of the oven in a minute or two!!
    Agatha Macbeth groans
    Wol Euler: what? what?
    Agatha Macbeth: Dharma not drama
Alfred Kelberry: minute or two. have to decide.
Storm Nordwind: When the timer goes beep, the decision is made.
    Alfred Kelberry: ha!
    Wol Euler: delegation in action.
Agatha Macbeth: The timer has spoken
Wol Euler: "I don'T have to remember that, I have machines to remember it for me"
Alfred Kelberry: we all live by the timer
Storm Nordwind: But in this case, I set the timer. It does my bidding.
    Storm Nordwind cracks the whip
Wol Euler: indeed, but it then frees you to forget
Wol Euler: yo don't have to look at the clock every N seconds
    Storm Nordwind: Or the bread
    Wol Euler: or that
Alfred Kelberry: he has to eat it though
    Storm Nordwind: Such a trial
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Chomp chomp
    Alfred Kelberry: nom nom
    Agatha Macbeth: Crumbs
    Alfred Kelberry: gobble gobble
Storm Nordwind: Ah, my preferred expletive Agatha
Agatha Macbeth: He had turkey with it?
    Alfred Kelberry: who?
Agatha Macbeth: Wrong time of year
Agatha Macbeth: Whoever did the gobbling
    Agatha Macbeth: A goblin maybe?
    Agatha Macbeth: A gobbling goblin
Storm Nordwind: or a teasmaid ;)
    Agatha Macbeth: That too
    Agatha Macbeth: Tease maid
    Wol Euler: feather duster
    Agatha Macbeth: 42
    Agatha Macbeth: Half past three
Storm Nordwind: beep... beep... beep... beep... beep... beep... beep... beep...
    Storm Nordwind: brb
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Agatha Macbeth: Beep brb?
Agatha Macbeth: Sounds like a fax machine
    Alfred Kelberry: :P
Alfred Kelberry: who would have thought that a simple beep can order storm around
Wol Euler: slaves to the rhythm
Agatha Macbeth: He'll get his revenge, you see
    Alfred Kelberry: *pokes kori*
    Agatha Macbeth: Maybe she's working
Wol Euler: maybe she isn't here :)
    Freud Jungsten: Back.. darn RL>
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Storm Nordwind decides against ejecting boxy - this time
Agatha Macbeth: What time is it there F, about 5pm?
    Freud Jungsten: Yes.
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
    Storm Nordwind: And 4 here
Freud Jungsten: Will be a little late out today.
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah well
Agatha Macbeth: time to move on methinks
    Agatha Macbeth: getting square eyes
Freud Jungsten: I get paid to be here as long as one of the senior partners is still around.
    Freud Jungsten: Ciao
    Wol Euler grins.
    Agatha Macbeth: Sounds good
Alfred Kelberry: i will bring you this pleasure and eject myself now, storm :)
    Wol Euler: nice situation
    Alfred Kelberry: bye folks!
Wol Euler: bye aggers, take care
