The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind.

Yaku refers to my floating tag.

    Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning storm
    Storm Nordwind: Hi there!
Yakuzza Lethecus: sticky bouncy m´s ?
Storm Nordwind: y keyboard is on the way out
    Storm Nordwind: See :)
Storm Nordwind: Need a whole new PC
Yakuzza Lethecus: pc this time, not a laptop anymore ?
    Storm Nordwind: Laptop
Yakuzza Lethecus: slow systems might be good for patience :)
Storm Nordwind: They are. And this one has been so for 5 years :)
Storm Nordwind: But this one has a broken hinge, and is too slow for the latest SL viewers. So reluctantly, it's time for a replacement
Yakuzza Lethecus: well the laptop can still serve as hdpc or homeserver
Storm Nordwind: Yes. I won't be throwing it away!
Storm Nordwind: It's amazing what one can do with limited resources anyway.
Storm Nordwind: It's like specifying a theme for Art as Being - it concentrates the mind and inspires creativity on how to work within those limitations
Storm Nordwind: For example, most of what you see around you was built before I emigrated. And at that time, my internet access speed was just 1% of what it is today.

    Kaffee kochen

Storm Nordwind: Anyway, enough of me... How are you? :)
Yakuzza Lethecus likes listening to you :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am fine, just made some salad and am cooking coffee, relaxing a little
Storm Nordwind: 'Cooking' coffee... :) Interesting choice of verb. I guess I'm stuck with 'brewing' coffee :D
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, we say usually say "kaffee kochen"
    Storm Nordwind: Fair enough :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: but right we sometimes also say ,,kaffee aufbrühen"
    --BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus: which is basicly brewing too

    Etymology ...

Storm Nordwind: Words can be fascinating - if sometimes distracting. I was always asking my wife where American words came from. And of course she rarely knew - which you often don't when you've grown up with it. We all make assumptions I guess :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, it´s strange when german learners ask me about the german language, as a native it´s easy to speak and understand but true understanding is not really given, at least not for me :P
Yakuzza Lethecus: i can only say how "i would say it"
    Storm Nordwind smiles
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s facinating when ppl can put words directly to their etymologie
Yakuzza Lethecus: like you traced a few words directly to like old norse in the past
Storm Nordwind: Yes. I also used to like to understand where English place names had come from. (Some came from Old Norse.) And of course that's all very different here - the origins of place names here are mostly very recent indeed.

    ... of the word "sally".

Storm Nordwind: This week's theme is "Sally" I think... so of course I had to find out where that word came from too!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
Alfred Kelberry: good to see you two
Yakuzza Lethecus: actually i was not successful in finding it´s roots
    Storm Nordwind: Greetings Mr. Box
Yakuzza Lethecus: well of course lia, but it meant dreamtravelling to me
    Yakuzza Lethecus: in a way
Yakuzza Lethecus: even tho when i looked it up it haven´t had that meaning, so what´s ur result ?
Alfred Kelberry: what's the connection between "sally" and dreamtravel?
Storm Nordwind: Sally comes from Middle English Salien (= to dance)and French Saillir (= to go out, issue forth; also to leap, jump, bound)
    Alfred Kelberry: hmm
    Alfred Kelberry: salient? :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/sally
    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes
    Yakuzza Lethecus: what´s salient ?
    Alfred Kelberry: very noticeable
Yakuzza Lethecus: ur nose is salient :)
    --BELL--
    Alfred Kelberry: :^
Storm Nordwind: Related to salient, from Latin root SAL = to leap
Alfred Kelberry: well, i still hardly notice a connection, but thank you for the etymology :)
Storm Nordwind: Salient = springing forward

    One form of sallying.

Yakuzza Lethecus: connection to what ?Alfred Kelberry: for me, dreamtravel is either remembering past or planning future trips
    Alfred Kelberry: yaku, sally/dreamtravel
Storm Nordwind: But doing it? ;)
    Storm Nordwind: Or not?
Alfred Kelberry: why not call it dreamtravel in the first place? :)
Storm Nordwind: Because that is just one meaning
Yakuzza Lethecus: i didn´t know what sally mean by the time i first heard it and somehow my mind saved it as dreamtravel, it´s just a false memory
Alfred Kelberry: arguably "dreamtravel" is more clear than "sally" :)
Storm Nordwind: Yes. But very limited and specific
Storm Nordwind: Is that really what Eos was suggesting? Just dreamtravel?
Alfred Kelberry: i go for the simplest label :)
Alfred Kelberry: pab has enough labels to get tangled in :)
Storm Nordwind: Visualized meditation and shamanic journeying could be considered as forms of sallying, but not forms of dreamtravel - and we've talked about those here
    Alfred Kelberry: oh my
Alfred Kelberry: ok, be it then :)

    Adding snow to help.

Yakuzza Lethecus: what was the command for snow in the circle again ?
Storm Nordwind: snowN where N is 0-5
    Storm Nordwind: And shout it
Alfred Kelberry: already missing snow, yaku? :)

Though the snow will work if you just say it, that will only trigger the nearby emitter directly over the pavilion, but it will not trigger the six emitters surrounding the pavilion. They trigger only if you shout it. Though that's just bad implementation on my part and I ought to change it!

Yakuzza Lethecus: i recall to have read a post where storm mentioned the command but on monday i wanted to find the command and wasn´t able to
Storm Nordwind: Try it now :)
Alfred Kelberry: did you ever do those shamanic trips, storm?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: snowN
    Alfred Kelberry: ch 9?
    Storm Nordwind: /e laughs
    Storm Nordwind: yes
    Alfred Kelberry: wee!
    Alfred Kelberry: ):
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s not in the helpfile
Storm Nordwind: Please update the file then :)
Alfred Kelberry: we can do that?
Storm Nordwind: No idea. Didn't know there was one! ;)
    Storm Nordwind: Or I'd forgotten
Alfred Kelberry: ok, where did snow go?
Yakuzza Lethecus: i mean /9 help
Storm Nordwind: Which is always more likely
Storm Nordwind: Oh yeah - I'd have to update that one. Forgot about it completely
    Yakuzza Lethecus: 9snow1
Alfred Kelberry: ch 9 came from 9 sec or was it before that?
    --BELL--

    Fixed.

Storm Nordwind has now fixed the help
    Alfred Kelberry: nothing
Alfred Kelberry: do you get anything on /9 help?
Storm Nordwind: Guess the reason you didn't get it Boxy :)
    Alfred Kelberry: apparently

Boxy didn't guess, but his problem was his active group wasn't the guardian group at the time! (If you type /9help while by the Pavilion pool, you need to have playasbeinghere group active to get a response.)

Meanwhile, I answer the door in RL.

    Storm Nordwind: UPS brb
Alfred Kelberry: oh, well. time for a picture.
Alfred Kelberry: sign in a cafe: http://i.imgur.com/KOqt7.png
Yakuzza Lethecus: do you do timelaps pictures boxy ?
Alfred Kelberry: i hardly do any pictures except on my phone these days :)
    Storm Nordwind: back
    Yakuzza Lethecus: wb
Alfred Kelberry: what's in the package?
    Storm Nordwind: A doll
    Alfred Kelberry: hmm, ok
Yakuzza Lethecus: ur wife is a collector ?
    Storm Nordwind: She's a painter
Alfred Kelberry: storm's collecting dolls :)
Storm Nordwind: Only the ones that throw themselves at me Boxy! My wife repaints dolls and sells them to collectors.
    Alfred Kelberry: hmm, neat
Alfred Kelberry: how many have thrown themselves at you this month? :)
Storm Nordwind: As I get older, far fewer ;)
    Alfred Kelberry: eh
Alfred Kelberry: you should go out more :)
Storm Nordwind: Nah... seems a shame to keep letting them down ;)
Alfred Kelberry: also, take your guitar - a good thrown booster
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

We're all called to other things.

Alfred Kelberry: ok, need to run this test...
    Yakuzza Lethecus: what test ?
Storm Nordwind: This test, apparently, rather than that test.
Storm Nordwind: But I guess it doesn't involve us.
Yakuzza Lethecus appreciates raindrops bouncing on roof and windows
Storm Nordwind appreciates the smoke from the wildfires over the mountains
Alfred Kelberry: yaku, some data crunching stuff
    --BELL--
    Yakuzza Lethecus: cya both soon
Storm Nordwind: Bye for now :)
    Storm Nordwind waves
