    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Korel
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Korel Laloix: brb

    --BELL--

    Korel Laloix: Back
Eos Amaterasu: wb, & hi, Storm
Storm Nordwind: Good evening both :)
    Korel Laloix: Thanks.
Korel Laloix: How was your Saturday?
Storm Nordwind: You are beautifully dressed tonight I see Korel :)
    Korel Laloix: wado
Korel Laloix: I put this on from time to time. The dress is supposed to be Apache.
Storm Nordwind: I like it very much. Thank you for wearing it. :)
Korel Laloix: I can't tell about the feather though.
Korel Laloix: I have a nice buckskin dress my aunts passed down to me RL.
    Storm Nordwind: nice
Korel Laloix: Similar color, but differet designs. A lot more red.
    Storm Nordwind nods
Korel Laloix: Would be good for that dance, but I focus on fancy shawl.
Storm Nordwind: Are the designs stylized, or do they have meaning?
Korel Laloix: Most are just geometric sytles..... and sometiems you can sort of guess tribal affiliation.
    Storm Nordwind: Ah, I see
Korel Laloix: But only if the person reserached and stayed true to traditions.
    Storm Nordwind nods
Korel Laloix: But.. some designs do have meanings.
Korel Laloix: Like if there is a sun, or rainbow, or bird patten.
Korel Laloix: I find it interesting but predictable that you rarely see men dressed up in SL, but we tend to dress up, or at least play with more fancy outfits.
Storm Nordwind: Why do you think that is?
Korel Laloix: Similar to RL I think... more pressue to look good... so more in the habit.
Korel Laloix: And you can take risks here.
    Storm Nordwind: That's true!
Korel Laloix: That you can't RL.
Storm Nordwind is just as lazy in SL as RL. No risks required ;)
Korel Laloix: No on is genuinly going to be hateful to you in SL for dressing out of the norm.. RL is a bit more harsh.
    Korel Laloix: lol
Korel Laloix: I put time in to my appearance... but I am 25 with lots of social pressures.
Storm Nordwind: True. There is a distinct lack of meaning in Western dress, and if one tried to inject some, I suspect one would be regarded as pretentious.
Korel Laloix: And maybe that is appropriate.
Korel Laloix: Making tings more netural.
    Korel Laloix: But maybe sterile.
Korel Laloix: Intereing to think about that balance.
Storm Nordwind: The only exception I can bring to mind is mourning.
Korel Laloix: Never actually been to a funteral of someone I have loved.
Korel Laloix: So never really paid attention.
Korel Laloix: Can you give examples please?
    Storm Nordwind: That's quite understandable
Storm Nordwind: Well, people wear black in mourning very often
Storm Nordwind: Sometimes only at a funeral, sometimes for days and weeks
    Korel Laloix: Not noticed that.
Korel Laloix: But it sounds about right.
Eos Amaterasu: I take walks through a local park where there are weddings in the summer: the men are always in black, the bride in white, and the women in splashes of colour
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps that is not so much in the US
Storm Nordwind: It is still true in Europe, though the custom fades
Korel Laloix: There is sort of a code for men it seems...
Korel Laloix: BLack for formal, but white for highly formal.
Korel Laloix: I think there are sort of equivlents for us.
Storm Nordwind: But those are conventions more than meanings

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: FOrmal... hair down and anything is good as long as the dress is nice.... But for highly formal, hair up and full length/evening gown.
Korel Laloix: Yes, just conventions.... no real meaning I know of.
Korel Laloix: And that may very a bit.
Eos Amaterasu: military uniforms have formal meanings
Korel Laloix: When I was in ROTC, that was sort of hinted at.
Korel Laloix: But we never got to the topic.
Eos Amaterasu: there's probably a lot of archaic meanings to some clothing details
    Eos Amaterasu: epaullettes (sp?)
Korel Laloix: I know what they are, no idea on the spelling.
Storm Nordwind looks up what ROTC is, and broadens his education about his new country. :)
Korel Laloix: Colars are just sort of silly now.
Eos Amaterasu: plus that hair up long gown thing seemed to make sense, somehow :-)
Eos Amaterasu: eos did a year of ROTC back in the day
Korel Laloix: Reserve Office Training Corps.
Korel Laloix: Was tring to join the military, but was medically disqualfied.
Storm Nordwind: Just been reading the Wikipedia article. Wasn't a concept I'd heard of before.
Korel Laloix: But.. appealing to my congressional rep at the moment.
Korel Laloix: Big program designed to get a lot of different people in from all over teh country.
Eos Amaterasu: what's the draw for you?
    Korel Laloix: Several layers.
    Korel Laloix: Oportunities.
    Korel Laloix: HIgher education.
    Korel Laloix: Travel.
    Korel Laloix: Doing my part.
Korel Laloix: Life education, vs academic education.
Korel Laloix: Wanting to put an intact First American in the organization.
    Eos Amaterasu: ?
    Korel Laloix: Lots of things.
    Eos Amaterasu: hmm
Korel Laloix: Why did you do ROTC?
Eos Amaterasu: Oh, it was first year in College, in Boston, but I was (am) a Canadian, not a US citizen, so couldn't become an officer anyway
    Eos Amaterasu: so didn't continue....
Eos Amaterasu: and then realized I wouldn't want to anyway
    Korel Laloix: Oh... OK.
Eos Amaterasu: I was draftable, though
Korel Laloix: I really enjoyed it.
Korel Laloix: I am aware of what that was.. but not the details.
Eos Amaterasu: sure.... it is something to excel at
Korel Laloix: Could you have joined the Canadian if you wanted to?
Eos Amaterasu: Canada had no draft, but I suppose I could have
Eos Amaterasu: however, I ended up burning my draft card :-)
Korel Laloix: My half brothers were in our military as well, so I wanted to annoy them by joining... that was another reason... smiles
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Korel Laloix: Thought you said that Canada did not have a draft?
Eos Amaterasu looks above Korel's head
    Eos Amaterasu: it didn't
Eos Amaterasu: I had a US draft card
Korel Laloix: How did that happen?
Korel Laloix: Just becuase you were in BOston?
    Korel Laloix: Hey Lucinda.
    Lucinda Lavender: Hey All:)
Eos Amaterasu: we were permanent residents in the US, so I was draftable
Storm Nordwind: perhaps the same way I was drafted for jury duty recently even though I'm not yet a citizen?
Eos Amaterasu: you didn't have to be a US citizen
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Luci
    Korel Laloix: OH.. ineresting.
Korel Laloix: Never had the jury duty thing yet.
Storm Nordwind: They excused me. :)
Eos Amaterasu: Strangely enough I never have either
Eos Amaterasu: one look at you?
Korel Laloix: My aunts seem to be proffesionals at it.
    Lucinda Lavender: :))great Korel
    Lucinda Lavender: the aunts...
Korel Laloix: That or they conveniently use that as an excuss so they can head to the casinos... lol
Eos Amaterasu: interesting social role, to judge your fellow human beings
Korel Laloix: Woudl like to do that sometiems as well.
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Lucinda Lavender: I did jury duty once long ago
Korel Laloix: Wonder if I am excused as a student.
Korel Laloix: No idea how all that works.
Storm Nordwind: brb (oven, read calls)

    --BELL--

    Korel Laloix: OK.
    Lucinda Lavender: meeto
    Korel Laloix: meetree
    Storm Nordwind is back
Lucinda Lavender: Cooks of the pause
    Storm Nordwind: haha!
Eos Amaterasu: thanks, everyone, must crawl into bed....
    Eos Amaterasu: good night
Lucinda Lavender: good sleeps to you
    Storm Nordwind: g'night!
Lucinda Lavender: what were you checking Storm?
Storm Nordwind: Putting out the bread to cool on rack
Lucinda Lavender: For me it was the turkey meatballs...and corn
Korel Laloix: Making a huge vat of arrabiata sause.
Korel Laloix: The house smells lovely.
    Lucinda Lavender: nice!
Korel Laloix: And almost evertying is from the garden.
Lucinda Lavender: not sure what arrabiata is...
Korel Laloix: Spicy tommato pasta sauce.
    Lucinda Lavender: very good...
Storm Nordwind: We need the recipe... and we can compare it to my Italian sauce ;)
    Lucinda Lavender: compare and contrast
Storm Nordwind: but not compete ;)
Korel Laloix: Sort of like that, but with less garlic and pureed chilies in it to give it some heat.
    Lucinda Lavender: ooh!
Lucinda Lavender: no need to compete
    Storm Nordwind smiles
Korel Laloix: Will put some meat in half of it when it is done.
Storm Nordwind: I use garlic and ginger paste in mine - lots of it
    Korel Laloix: Ginger in pasta?
    Korel Laloix: Ineteresting.
Lucinda Lavender: Luci could pretend to pass some turkey meatballs to you...
    Storm Nordwind: Yup
Korel Laloix: My brother dropped of some venison.
    Lucinda Lavender: yummginger
Korel Laloix: So that is what will do in.
    Lucinda Lavender: oh my:)
Lucinda Lavender: have only had venison once
Korel Laloix: Not sure how that will be, but will give it a try.
Lucinda Lavender: liked it I think
Storm Nordwind: Good venison is very good. Otherwise, meh
    Lucinda Lavender: long ago
Korel Laloix: My brothers do all seasons for evertying.
    Lucinda Lavender: nice
    Lucinda Lavender: the seasoners
Korel Laloix: Rifle, black power, bow... would do slingshot if there was a season for that.
    Korel Laloix: powder
    Korel Laloix: lol
    Lucinda Lavender: wow
    Lucinda Lavender: skills
Lucinda Lavender: was picturing a different kind of seasoning
Korel Laloix: It is lovely in how simple it is.
Storm Nordwind: Looking at my sauce recipe: tomatoes, ginger and garlic paste, cider vinegar, dried oregano, salt, whole fennel seed, freshly ground black pepper, olive oil
Korel Laloix: And when it is ultra fresh.. wow.
    Korel Laloix: Not overcooked.
Korel Laloix: Grandma and I picked the stuff about two hours ago.
Korel Laloix: Will put in a small amount of pasta fro a late snack the next break.
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Korel Laloix: And slowly sipping a nice glass of red... that I had to open to spash in the sauce... smiles
    Korel Laloix: Lovely evening really.
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
Lucinda Lavender: picturing a feast we could all make together
Korel Laloix: I was thinking about that...
    Storm Nordwind: mmmmm...
Korel Laloix: A bit of salivation going on.
Lucinda Lavender: I will bring the meatballs
    Korel Laloix: Sonds lovely
Storm Nordwind: Sorry, I ate all the onion bhajis I cooked earlier ;)
    Lucinda Lavender: awww

    Korel Laloix: Beutiful state.
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
Korel Laloix: Had my bike totaled in Alamosa though.
Storm Nordwind: Indeed. very fortunate to be here. Unlike the place I visited last weekend >.<
