Catrinamonblue Resident: time yes but some days time feels like an enemy there has not been enough time yet between the cause of the pain and here and now

Eliza Madrigal: this may seem unrelated but this morning, as I was waking, I saw myself begin to plan the day out in a certain way, with expected tasks in blocks, then realized I didn't have to do that... grieving or shedding sadness may have some similarities...
Eliza Madrigal: that there can seem a way it is supposed to go
Eliza Madrigal: but that isn't necessarily true

Korel Laloix: I do think greiving is a process.
Wol Euler nods.
Korel Laloix: Possibly instincual at some levels.
Eliza Madrigal: yes, interesting
Korel Laloix: And trying to fight it can be counterproductive in some schools of thought.

Eliza Madrigal: I'm not one who believes in resolve

Eliza Madrigal: hm... well, not that I don't think things that are painful can be let go of but that, as you say, trying to seek that is more painful
Korel Laloix: OK, I think I understand you.
Korel Laloix: I think we do have a number of emotional processes though.
Korel Laloix: Not just for greiving.
Korel Laloix: For love, sex, mourning, organizing, etc.
Eliza Madrigal: biological responses, nods... can see that...
Korel Laloix: And you don't have to do it the "normal"ish way, but it can make the process more simple.
Catrinamonblue Resident: pain is not simple
Korel Laloix: But a lot of biological processes are emotional.
Eliza Madrigal: one thing I see with conversations with friends at times, is that there is an expectation of process being similar to one another, but though there are instincts there is also so much room
Korel Laloix: Yes, right and left bounderies of "normal"ish process.
Eliza Madrigal nods
Korel Laloix: And deeling with people outside those bounds can be unsetteling.
Eliza Madrigal: I like thinking of emotions as part of body... is that the accepted wisdom now
Eliza Madrigal: ?

Wol Euler: I've heard that, yes
Korel Laloix: Hard to seperate mind and body in so many ways.
Catrinamonblue Resident: but why seperate them?
Eliza Madrigal: well for myself if I see emotions as mental I try to think my way out of them :)
Eliza Madrigal: or think them in various directions
Korel Laloix: There can be power in analysing different dimensions of any problem set indepedantly, but you don't get the whole picture that way.
Eliza Madrigal: I love the feeling of a great film that captivates entirely and one forgets their troubles - putting one's mind off of them is like stopping the tampering
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes has to be a damn good film ^^

Eliza Madrigal: now I can see the whole of it and appreciate it more
Eliza Madrigal: but still think Leo and Kate didn't quite match chemistry wise :P

Korel Laloix: 17 hours later, the ship still sinks, and you know that before it starts.... I soooo want that day of my life back.
Eliza Madrigal: :) well... in terms of our lives... it is sort of profound...
Eliza Madrigal: we know the ship sinks at the end
Wol Euler: we know that almost every film has a happy ending, but we still go to see them. The should-be-lovers will get togehter, justice will prevail etc etc
Wol Euler: I haven'
Korel Laloix: Yes, but in a normal movie, you don't know the main plot device ahead of time... smiles
Wol Euler: haven't seen Titanic, I had an overdose of Titanic stuff from working for a year on an exhibition about it
Korel Laloix: And besides, I am missing that part of my brain that should let me appraciate chickflicks.

Korel Laloix: There are a coupld of westerns I liked, but can't remember the names.

Korel Laloix: There are three movies in the series.. the first one if by far the best.

Wol Euler: PG&BtK is similar to the Third Man

Eliza Madrigal: I guess 'favorite' is never a fair question

Wol Euler: I loved Tarkovsky's "Sacrifice", wonderful film, but I don't really need to see it again
Wol Euler: whereas I do need to see Billy the Kid
Eliza Madrigal: ah, yes some films do fall into those categories...
Eliza Madrigal: I rented Shindler's List about 10 times before I could watch it
Eliza Madrigal: just kept renting it and sending it back

Korel Laloix: I have not tried to watch it.

Wol Euler: what did you think of it, when you finally saw the film?

Korel Laloix: Just watched I Can't THink Straight.
Korel Laloix: That was interesting.
Korel Laloix: The Mission with DeNearo wa an amazing flim as well.
Eliza Madrigal: I felt that it was important to have watched
Eliza Madrigal: and to have listened and been there in that way...

Eliza Madrigal: it was beautiful, which is such a horrific thing to say...
Eliza Madrigal: but the way that light was worked with

Eliza Madrigal: I feel like I haven't seen many films right now... hah... but I know that isn't so

Korel Laloix: So learned a bit about how Jews were treated in Italy in WWII.

Wol Euler: I dumped a lot of classes too, and forgot much of the rest over the decades
Wol Euler: are you curious about physics?
Korel Laloix: The math part interests me.
Korel Laloix: Some statistical issues.
Korel Laloix: But in general... had very bad teachers.
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: science is easy to teach badly :(
Korel Laloix: Just not bad teaching.. just apathy to students.
Korel Laloix: That was the really bad part... could not even get extra help if I wanted.
Wol Euler: that's terrible
Korel Laloix: But I did learn some good math things out of it.
Korel Laloix: So not a complete loss..

Korel Laloix: I don't really buy to many CDs.. prefffer to just download.
Korel Laloix: But having a cope is nice sometimes.

Wol Euler: I haven't really bought a CD (other than as a present) in ages
Wol Euler: I buy single songs on iTunes these days
Wol Euler: and sometimes albums too, virtually
Korel Laloix: That is the easiest way really.
Korel Laloix: But you can colllect a lot of junk though.
Korel Laloix: Just like SL inventory.
Wol Euler: yep :)
Wol Euler: but on the whole, I haven't. There is probably less crap in my iTunes collection than in my physical CDs

Korel Laloix: I don't collect a lot of that stuff anyway.
