Catrinamonblue Resident: I think online communities are in their infancy and not yet recognized as such but in time I think they will be as important to people as rl communities

Bleu Oleander: I think many who speak about virtual communities haven't experienced them

Bleu Oleander: how do rl communities differ from sl communities?
Riddle Sideways: yes, can't see much difference
Bleu Oleander: in terms of health, mental and physical, the speakers were stressing the importance of local communities
Bleu Oleander: as supplements to medical interventions
Bleu Oleander: is a virtual "hug" as powerful as a rl hug in terms of support and recovery type issues?
Riddle Sideways: yet some services (parts of the ones you mention) are better served by distant experts rather then locals

Korel Laloix: True.. but bad moods can be contagious as well.
Korel Laloix: But I do like the hygiene of SL... smiles
Riddle Sideways: bad moods come across less when body language can't be seen

Korel Laloix: I do like SL as a social outlet.
Korel Laloix: When I was in Florida is was a methond of meeting people RL as well.
Korel Laloix: if you can get to a SL convention, I recomended it.

Riddle Sideways: however, from that meeting on it is hard to think of them as they were before

Riddle Sideways: Having met Storm (just for example) it is hard to envision that original first impression SL Storm
Riddle Sideways: Whom btw is so much more lovely in person
