The Guardian for this meeting was Calvino Rabeni. The comments are by Calvino Rabeni.

    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Calvino Rabeni: heya Korel
Calvino Rabeni: ther seems to be a gray fog here today
    Korel Laloix: Rl or SL?
    Calvino Rabeni: SL
Korel Laloix: I have derendered everything, so I can't see it.
Korel Laloix: Maybe that is what you see.
Korel Laloix: But someone did put a big cylender around teh pavilion.
    Calvino Rabeni: I remember that
Calvino Rabeni: yes the big cylinder
Calvino Rabeni: it shows the forest now, rather pretty
Korel Laloix: I can't see it, so I will take your word for it.
Calvino Rabeni: In RL there is a small high window with some very tall evergreen trees moving about in the wind
Korel Laloix: THat sounds like a lovely effect.. is the sound with that?
Korel Laloix: I love the sounds of the wind accross high grass or a crop.
Calvino Rabeni: ah, and having said that it instantly recalled a dream scene with the same thing ... ws forgotton until then
    Korel Laloix smiles.. do tell.
Calvino Rabeni: nods ... you have more grass I believe
Korel Laloix: Well, I do love the national grasslands for sure.
Calvino Rabeni: In the dream there was a stand of high ponderosa pines, and a storm was blowing through, dropping a few branches, made me nervous, until I noticed there were smaller spaces with the same shape in the underbrush
Calvino Rabeni: I haven't visited grasslands for a long time, but I do like the wind in aspens
Korel Laloix: Can you say moer?.. smaller spaces?
Korel Laloix: I don't know aspens well.
    Korel Laloix: Have seen some.
Calvino Rabeni: yes, just the same shape as the larger, like two small facing shrubs with a space between for the wind to blow
Korel Laloix: I am not a fan of trees really.. but they are lovely in the wind.
Calvino Rabeni: aspens have those leaves that are dark green on the top and light green underneath. they flip back and forth making a slight rattling sound multiplied by millions, and a flashing from light to dark
Korel Laloix: Not sure I have ever seen that.
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: don't like trees .. I suppose they have some misbehavior?
Korel Laloix: Ever see those silly Lord of teh Rings movies?.. I feel like the dwarf guy with the beard.
Korel Laloix: Being in a forst makes me feel closed in and claustrophobic.
    Korel Laloix: forest
Calvino Rabeni: I saw one, but too many goblin battles
Korel Laloix: Like the trees are ganging up on you.
Calvino Rabeni: thats interesting I see
Korel Laloix: I don't get that feel from square miles of grass.
Calvino Rabeni: some create a gloomy atmosphere
Calvino Rabeni: the openness of the grasslands feels really different
Calvino Rabeni: I suppose it depends on what one grew up with
Korel Laloix: I do love the feel of a solitary tree... although I sometiems think if they get lonely.
Calvino Rabeni: about 30 years ago people have decided trees are good, and natural, so they stopped cutting them, now the area is all overgrown, you cannot see the water, and sometimes those trees are too old and fall onto houses and cars
Korel Laloix: maybe should have said "wonder" vs "think"
Calvino Rabeni: if being precise is good
Korel Laloix: I do try to work on my English... smiles
Korel Laloix: I just do not like being inclosed.
Korel Laloix: And trees tend to make me feel that way.
    Calvino Rabeni: nods
Korel Laloix: But to each their own.
Calvino Rabeni: you might be in the habit of looking far
    Korel Laloix: looking far?
Calvino Rabeni: yes, if I was accustomed to seeing the lake from here, then the trees are blocking me from that.
Calvino Rabeni: but I have forgotten the lake
Calvino Rabeni: even though it used to be part of the world that coudl be seen from here
Korel Laloix: Oh I see what you mean.
Korel Laloix: I guess that could be ti.
Calvino Rabeni: I don't much like malls and their surroundings
Calvino Rabeni: but I went to one yesterday
Korel Laloix: Did you get what you were looking for?
Calvino Rabeni: and had the truck parked in the middle of some parking lot
    Calvino Rabeni: a movie, yes
    Korel Laloix: Which one?
Calvino Rabeni: and I told my friend, It would be possible to see three "Starbucks" from that one spot
    Calvino Rabeni: which I didn't
Calvino Rabeni: however, we walked around a bit
Calvino Rabeni: and there were indeed, three of them
Korel Laloix: There are too many of them for sure.
Calvino Rabeni: that could have been seen from that one spot
Calvino Rabeni: except for all those trees :)
Calvino Rabeni: the movie was "Star Trek: Into Darkness" in 3-D
Korel Laloix: I do love a great cup of coffee.. but there are much better options than SB.
    Korel Laloix: How was that?
Korel Laloix: Really no desire to see it.
Calvino Rabeni: Not my kind of movie
Calvino Rabeni: Friend wanted to see it
    Korel Laloix: Mindless scifi violence?
Calvino Rabeni: the 3d made me woozy
Calvino Rabeni: well yes all action and machines
    Calvino Rabeni: loud, too fast
Calvino Rabeni: and the characters were too stereotypical
Calvino Rabeni: they always acted and did exactly as expected
Korel Laloix: Not to sound silly, but Start Trek is the one with Kirk and Picard right?... not Darth Vader?
    Calvino Rabeni: right
Korel Laloix: I have the hardest time remember which is which.
Calvino Rabeni: it had Kirk and Spock and um, Scotty and Bones
    Korel Laloix: But getting better.
Calvino Rabeni: The main messages are "act on your gut feeling" and "leap before you look"
Korel Laloix: I might enjoy that then... lol
Korel Laloix: I have done that with fantastic results before.
    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: But then again, more than one of my shrinks has labeled me "pathologically aggressive"..lol
Korel Laloix: When I decided to move from Ok to FL to get away from Ron, it was less than six hours from the time I decided to the time I was out the door.
Calvino Rabeni: You are the opposite of me :)
    Korel Laloix: Good for you.
Calvino Rabeni: it would take six years :)
Korel Laloix: one of the reasons I could do that was that I had so few attachments.
Calvino Rabeni: some people would envy that
    Calvino Rabeni: though, I wonder
Korel Laloix: Well yes, but if someone that was stalking you broke into your house, i think it would push you out the door a bit more quickly.
    Calvino Rabeni: I agree
Korel Laloix: I only said goodbye to two people on my way out..not including my boss.
Korel Laloix: Not a healthy way to be really.
Calvino Rabeni: people seem to find something to bond with
Calvino Rabeni: I don't really know what to consider healthy
Korel Laloix: I guess that is a good question.
Calvino Rabeni: might be worth a think or two
Korel Laloix: Looking back, I was horrible unstable and empty.
Korel Laloix: Not sure why anyone put up with me.
Calvino Rabeni: but they did though
Korel Laloix: Out of pittty though...
Korel Laloix: And that is confirmed -- I asked.
Korel Laloix: But so glad they did.
Calvino Rabeni: I think more than that, but they might not feel right to admit it
Korel Laloix: Could be I guess.
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi Psaradise!
    Korel Laloix: Osiyo]
Paradise Tennant: hiya korel cal :)) this is beautiful ;)
Calvino Rabeni: Pretty nice, after it took a while to rez up
    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: Not seeing it, but glad you are and enjoying it.
Paradise Tennant: like a hilly summer meadow :)
Calvino Rabeni: It reminds me a lot of particular places I've gone to sit
Korel Laloix: Oh do tell please.
Paradise Tennant: nice to meitate outside ..
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
    Korel Laloix: Agreed.
Korel Laloix: On the bike or running.
Calvino Rabeni: mountain bikes are great to get into the away from road areas
Korel Laloix: I meant my motorcycle actually... smiles
Paradise Tennant: smiles doing lots of walking meditation these days :) funny how the dog always knows runs up and barks at me .. as if to say hey this is my time :)
Korel Laloix: But pedalbikes as well.
    Paradise Tennant: https://maps.google.ca/maps?ie=UTF8&cid=11130669717268739651&q=Tengye+Ling+Tibetan+Buddhist+Temple&iwloc=A&gl=CA&hl=en
Paradise Tennant: I've sat in this temple and found it very powerful funny how different places have diffrerent vibes
Korel Laloix: That is so true.
Calvino Rabeni: Here's one that looks pretty much like this mural around us
Korel Laloix: We were talkinga bout the feel of a forest vs a field while ago.
    Calvino Rabeni: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=ashland+oregon+map&ll=42.108889,-122.463999&spn=0.010411,0.015621&hnear=Ashland,+Jackson,+Oregon&t=h&z=15
Calvino Rabeni: forest vs field, and normal vs healthy
Paradise Tennant: nice like the brook love that sound
Calvino Rabeni: Since healthy is not very normal, and normal is not very healthy, couldn't we do better than to define healthy with reference to normal?
    Korel Laloix: https://maps.google.ca/maps?daddr=35.68198,-99.761868&hl=en&ll=35.680725,-99.746332&spn=0.036533,0.076818&sll=35.680725,-99.762726&sspn=0.036533,0.10952&gl=CA&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=14&t=m&z=14

Paradise Tennant: lovely when it is in bloom :))
    Paradise Tennant: thank you korel
Paradise Tennant: why is healthy not normal ?
Korel Laloix: There are places in that grassland with some very strong medicine.
Calvino Rabeni: what is the medicine there?
Korel Laloix: medicine is probably not the best English word.
Korel Laloix: I mean it has a spiritual presence.
Calvino Rabeni: yes that is how I took it
    Paradise Tennant: power
Calvino Rabeni: but dont get the particular of that place
Korel Laloix: You have to be there and open to it.
    Calvino Rabeni: nods
Calvino Rabeni: I wonder why in meditation or dream, certain places often come back to mind
Calvino Rabeni: was it their medicine
    Paradise Tennant: attachment
Calvino Rabeni: or a random thing about brains
Paradise Tennant: I think we can be bound to places
Paradise Tennant: tey call to us
Calvino Rabeni: they seem unremarkable and not connected with identifiable associations
Paradise Tennant: wrap one up in a feeling of belonging .. of the world being right :))
    Paradise Tennant: hiya stev :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: wow, how lush
Korel Laloix: In our way of thinking, all things have their manitus.
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Korel, Cal, Para
Paradise Tennant: practically can smell the grass and hear the larks :)
Korel Laloix: And those can line up or not.
Korel Laloix: They can compliment or disrupt.
Calvino Rabeni: I don't know that word, manitus
    Korel Laloix: manitu..
    Korel Laloix: one sec.
    Korel Laloix: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manitou
    Korel Laloix: THis is OK.
Korel Laloix: As in the article, I use the term Getchi Manitu as an equivalent to Jehovah.
Paradise Tennant: I believe everything has its own spirit sort of what forms us from another realm .. maybe just one we cannot see
    Calvino Rabeni: slowlly clicks
Calvino Rabeni: hi stevenaia (a bit belatedly)
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Korel Laloix: But I think ther eare places with powerful presences.
stevenaia Michinaga: nice there there seems to be such a commonality of such concepts throughout humanity
Paradise Tennant: we are talking of places and spirits :)
Calvino Rabeni: I wonder about that Stevenaia
Korel Laloix: You just have to open yourself to them... or sheild.
    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: yes to me korel places where you can reach out and tocuh the patina of time and experience
Korel Laloix: And I think certain objects as well.. and some words... and some other living creatures.
Calvino Rabeni: THis doesn't make sense to me ... "Manitou is similar to the East Asian qi, the Hindu Brahman or the Japanese kami" ... but this on the other hand DOES:
Calvino Rabeni: Everything has its own manitou—every plant, every stone, even machines.[
Calvino Rabeni: only some words, Korel?
Korel Laloix: I am not hapy with that wiki entry.. it is OK.
Korel Laloix: Some words I think hold special focus.
stevenaia Michinaga: there are many sacred words, with special importance
Korel Laloix: Like in some cultures. there are spiritual sounds.. like some with "uhm" i think it is.
Korel Laloix: And a good song writer knows how to pull sounds out.
stevenaia Michinaga: simply writing them on paper requires that the paper be handled differently, with respect
stevenaia Michinaga: as it becomes a representation of the word
Paradise Tennant: really think every object every person every living thing every place calls or beckons for respect for wonder even
Korel Laloix: In some ways yes.
Korel Laloix: yes, but some more than others.
stevenaia Michinaga: dog vs God, for instance
Korel Laloix: My dance regalia is somethign different..
Paradise Tennant: some we get more than others but even a new jersey scap yard is holy :)
Calvino Rabeni: I'll go along with that, Paradise
Korel Laloix: But my buckskin definately has a greater presenace than my shawl.
Paradise Tennant: easier to get - it when it is bryce canyon or the grasslands
Calvino Rabeni: :) Maybe a Delaware scrap yard, but surely not New Jersey ! ?
Paradise Tennant: smiles at korel think you would look lovely in both :)
Korel Laloix: never been to either.
Korel Laloix: Oh I do.. smiles
Calvino Rabeni: Bryce had a strange medicine to me .. not comfortable, but Arches was one I want to return to
Korel Laloix: But the shawl is much more flashy.
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&gs_rn=14&gs_ri=psy-ab&cp=7&gs_id=14&xhr=t&q=bryce+canyon...
    stevenaia Michinaga: amazing
Korel Laloix: Yes... I wold love to live in that part of the world for a bit.
Korel Laloix: But there are other things as well.
Korel Laloix: My first Bible.. I found it at the post office.
Korel Laloix: It has a strong pull to it that I can't really figure out.
    Calvino Rabeni: Which post office?
Korel Laloix: And in my totem.... there are animals that have a certain pull for me as well.
Korel Laloix: I gain something from thinking of them.
Korel Laloix: Some just left it at the Broken Arrow main post office.
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Korel Laloix: I think we sort of loose the ability to feel the power of things in this age of machines though.
Paradise Tennant: there is a connection in dropping and picking up :) I live near the water and I hate seeing plastic bags float in it - so I pick them up when they are scurrying around in the wind .. which completes an action with some stranger who dropped it :) goes back to we are all connected and spirit moves in mysterious ways
Calvino Rabeni: the loss of the ability to feel the power, results from .. hmmm, probably things being made convenient
Paradise Tennant: smiles I saved a mallard duck last weekend in ottawa - it has been clipped by a car and was in shock lying on the road I pulled my car in front ot it to block the traffec from finishing the job :) he was beautiful
    Korel Laloix: was?
Calvino Rabeni: that's great .. did you move hum?
Korel Laloix: did he not make it?
    Calvino Rabeni: him
Paradise Tennant: just a little hurt but very wobbly his mate stayed on me the whole time I walked him over to some grass and held him for a bit .. then let him walk
    Korel Laloix: Great of you.
Paradise Tennant: my girlfirend wisely parked my car .. and we watch him regain his senses
stevenaia Michinaga: you never really understand the impact a single act may have, like the thorn on a lion's paw
Paradise Tennant: when he was walking a bit steadier his mate looked hard at me and then went flying off ..he followed very low at first .. had heart in my mouth but he picked up air speed made it to a near by roof top :)
    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: could not believe how soft his feather were or how easily I could feel his heart beat
Paradise Tennant: I hope he made it :))
Korel Laloix: I have a duck feather sleeping bag that is silly warm.
Korel Laloix: Yes.. hope he did.
    Paradise Tennant: lucky duck
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://classiclit.about.com/library/bl-etexts/aesop/bl-aesop-androcles.htm
Calvino Rabeni: ducks are rather fierce creatures .. you must have given a soothing impression
Calvino Rabeni: every animal has its "fu"
    Calvino Rabeni: ducks have duck-fu
Calvino Rabeni: its better not to underestimate them
Paradise Tennant: lol I have never met a fierce duck cal :) the americans mallards must be different to the canadian ones have met some pretty intimating swans though :)
    Paradise Tennant: duck fu !!!!!
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Korel Laloix: Geese are rather excitable as well.
Calvino Rabeni: the ducks are modest, they don't waht to show their Fu
Calvino Rabeni: but if you try to pick one up, chances are you will encounter it
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/18508828
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, that is one of the tamer duck-fu moves :)
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Paradise Tennant: there is a single swan here I see at night sometimes .. looking lost and a bit sad .. like life hard alone :) they are no different to us
Calvino Rabeni: Oops .. I need to fly off now to a nearby rooftop
    Korel Laloix: Take care
Paradise Tennant: take care cal safe travels :)
Calvino Rabeni: good to see you all, take care, thanks
    Calvino Rabeni: bye
    Korel Laloix: ciao
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye CAl
Korel Laloix: Was a good chat today... thanks.
Paradise Tennant: nite nite korel sweet dreams :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Korel
Korel Laloix: Thanks much.. I hope so.
    Korel Laloix: Take are.
