Eliza Madrigal: it has been nice to do that, but somtimes nice to just go with the usual structure of the session

Eliza Madrigal: Oh... it is something that Bleu made
Eliza Madrigal: she uses a panoramic shot and then makes it seamless

DR42 Resident: Hugin, is one. it is on sourceforge.
Eliza Madrigal: I can give you one of the templates to play with though

Eliza Madrigal: I think that is modifiable.. let me check...
DR42 Resident: yes, it is
Eliza Madrigal: one would think, with as long as I've been in SL, some basic things would be easier for me to keep knowledge of... all seems to leak out somewhere

Eliza Madrigal: one interesting thing is that she put how to set it, where it says "general" so that one can see the right numbers

Eliza Madrigal: was thinking more about this morning's topic... how it is easy to see something like loneliness as something to be cured
DR42 Resident: Yes, if you don't want to be alone. But, there is the subtle difference between lonely and alone
Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: less lonely to be alone than to be trying to fill up space
DR42 Resident: Sometimes I enjoy the solitude. I go for days without interaction, except in SL.
Eliza Madrigal: SL has a quietness to it... even when busy

DR42 Resident: Yea, I have a number of LMs for places that rarely have anyone there.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
DR42 Resident: Soj's memorial on Dreams. I visit there often.
Eliza Madrigal: I've not been to Dreams much... hear so many lovely things about it
Eliza Madrigal: but I know of the auditorium
DR42 Resident: Very supportive, lots of interesting contests to help people learn.

Eliza Madrigal: some people gain a lot of comfort from a memorial while others avoid them
Eliza Madrigal: I too, like to be in those spots... places dedicated to someone

DR42 Resident: It is a place to sit and reflect. I had much respect for her. I reflect on being a better person when I am there.

DR42 Resident: There is the Day of remembrance memorial. I know a few who have their names there.
Eliza Madrigal: there was a workshop in SL the other day... at one of the LEA sites...
Eliza Madrigal: it was to make "trees of remembrance"
Eliza Madrigal: for people who have passed..

DR42 Resident: The one I was thinking of is for people who were either murdered or committed suicide because of intollerance.

Eliza Madrigal: one thing I've learned in the disability focused communities is that "disability" is more societal than having to do with one's limitations or differences,

DR42 Resident: Linden has an entire "Memorial park". I visit there to reflect, and there is "the Wall", the Vietnam memorial

Eliza Madrigal: perhaps loneliness is related in that sense
DR42 Resident: There are people I miss.
Eliza Madrigal: me too, very much

DR42 Resident: I have never been to the SL 9/11 memorial. Don't think I could deal with it.

Eliza Madrigal: there are a few I miss that I still have contact with in other contexts but "miss in SL"

DR42 Resident: I have a few people like that as well. Folks I met in SL, then in RL as a result.
Eliza Madrigal: its funny... when I think about it I sort of would love to know everyone I know in RL, as an avatar

Eliza Madrigal: I remember this story of heaven being a ring of fire that people would step into and their other sides would be seen

Eliza Madrigal: but really... even the most intolerant people.. if they genuinely came into SL and talked with others... even if arguing.. they would likely be exposed in ways they'd not thought of before

Eliza Madrigal: not to single SL out as being the only place that happens but do feel there is wide availability

Catrinamonblue Resident: I have found myself exposed in ways I never thought possible and it has made me think hard about myself and the way in which I view the world

DR42 Resident: I guess I have lost much of my ability to talk with people like that. I have become intolerant of the intolerant . So I am intolerant on myself.

DR42 Resident: I am not sure I can explain it with alternate words.
Eliza Madrigal: maybe something near to (not) 'trying' to save the world
Eliza Madrigal: which is far different than not being compassionate

DR42 Resident: I cannot erase all the hate and intolerance in the world, only that small bit that is near me. But when I become tired, physically or emotionally, I erase it by removing the people from my life.
Eliza Madrigal: I see
Catrinamonblue Resident: sometimes for self preservation it is better to not have a relationship with certain people, people who are intolerant or abusive to you
Zon Kwan: should we tolerate all ?
Catrinamonblue Resident: maybe tolerate at a distance?
DR42 Resident: Cat, it is a long list.
Eliza Madrigal nods... sometimes seems to be necessary
Eliza Madrigal: but, somehow though I can't see a way not to do that, I feel something more might be possible and bring with it greater peace

Catrinamonblue Resident: an example: My mother is a rather selfish person who can not seem to be able to see that her behavior is hurtful to those around her, in order to not be hurt any more I have had to stop having anything to do with her. My life is more peaceful without her constant chaos in it
Catrinamonblue Resident: I feel compassion towards her in that I realize she is as she is but I can not have her in my life
Eliza Madrigal: so you weren't able to find a balance
Catrinamonblue Resident: depends on what balance you mean
DR42 Resident: I have a similar situation within my life, but it is most of my family. :(

Eliza Madrigal: that must be very difficult Maude :(
DR42 Resident: I have a new family, mostly people at church.

Eliza Madrigal: :) I have balance with my family but going a bit deeper there is so much that I don't share with them that one might wonder who is in their life in actuality... some version of a me

DR42 Resident: I think that knowledge only comes with experience with that person. And even then it is a difficult line.
