Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Bleu.
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
Bleu Oleander: hiya Bruce :)
Bruce Mowbray: Before others arrive, I'd like to ask you if I can update my photo on the schedule board.
Bruce Mowbray: I've morphed a bit since that photo was taken.
Bleu Oleander: sorry had a call
Bruce Mowbray: np.
Bleu Oleander: yes certainly
Bruce Mowbray: kk, thanks.
Bleu Oleander: send me a photo
Bruce Mowbray: What sized for the photo?
Bruce Mowbray: square...
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bruce Mowbray: but how many pixels on a side?
Bleu Oleander: I size them 512 x 512
Bruce Mowbray: np.
Bruce Mowbray: I will get one for you, then.
Bleu Oleander: leave some space at the bottom for your name
Bruce Mowbray: kk, np.
Bleu Oleander: how's your dream art project coming along?
Bleu Oleander: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I made the texture for the pajamas I'm now wearing -- in WORD.
Bruce Mowbray: (last night)
Bleu Oleander: ah nice
Bruce Mowbray: Now I'm going to incorporate (or in-sculpturate) it into my project...
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Luci.
Bleu Oleander: great
Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bleu Oleander: hi sparkly Luci
Lucinda Lavender: Great to seeto see you all
Bruce Mowbray: Good to see you, too, Luci.
Lucinda Lavender: fell back asleep:)
Bleu Oleander: dreaming can be addictive :)
Bleu Oleander: seems very laggy here today
Lucinda Lavender: yes...I am having trouble with that
Lucinda Lavender: cannot see the place to claim yet
Lucinda Lavender: ok phew
Lucinda Lavender: How is this morning finding you all?
Bleu Oleander: beautiful morning here
Bleu Oleander: love my early morning walks
Bruce Mowbray: beautiful day here, too.
Lucinda Lavender: clouds for me and cool.
Bruce Mowbray: (Will go for a walk with Bear Dog after this session... then mow the grass.
--BELL--
Lucinda Lavender: I had a dream this morning where I was exploring down a wooded area...on either side of a driveway were areas where some one had lots of older appliances and rabbit cages
Bruce Mowbray listens carefully.
Lucinda Lavender: when I noticed some kittens playing around...one came up to me...i held it and then the owner appeared.
Lucinda Lavender: The owner showed me their house, and there were children from my school there. must have been friends I thought...(trying to make sense I suppose).
Lucinda Lavender: funny how the dreaming has things that we thnk we need to explain
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: to what extent in the re-telling of dreams do you think we embelish?
Xirana Oximoxi: 's current display-name is "Xirana".
Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Xirana.
Lucinda Lavender: the why would it be so response...
Bleu Oleander: hi Xiri :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hello everyone! :-)
Bleu Oleander: tendency to tighten up the story?
Lucinda Lavender: HI xiri. probably alot ...Embellishment is somtimes explaining to onesself i bet too
Bleu Oleander: yes
Lucinda Lavender: and I am thinking about the symbolism...now...the rabbit cages
Lucinda Lavender: "if only the energy could be contained!!"
Bleu Oleander: hard to know if the non-conscious mind might submit some details to the remembered dreams
Bleu Oleander: do you think every element in your dreams is symbolic of something else?
Lucinda Lavender: not usually
Bleu Oleander: how do you know when?
Bruce Mowbray ponders dreams as allegories.
Lucinda Lavender: good question...
Lucinda Lavender: well I was working yesterday in a drop in program with 30 children there...quite noisy and exhausting
Lucinda Lavender: and I know some of the children from the program I teach in during the school year
Bleu Oleander: can imagine!
Lucinda Lavender: they feel like friends
Lucinda Lavender: and seeing them at this place is really nice:)
Lucinda Lavender: most of the day tho I keep thinking about how the children need structure
Lucinda Lavender: like in montessorri we use carpet squares to define space
Bleu Oleander: ah so maybe the cage symbolizes that?
Lucinda Lavender: (not rabbit cages)
Lucinda Lavender: yes
Lucinda Lavender: containment helps them play better
Lucinda Lavender: they can visit each others projects but are more respectful generally
Bleu Oleander: although a cage prevents that
Lucinda Lavender: knowing something is their's
Lucinda Lavender: right..i was thinking that such chaos turns them in to animals
Lucinda Lavender: i feel bad about that
Bleu Oleander: well in the larger sense we are all animals
Lucinda Lavender: yes:)
Bleu Oleander remembers the book "lord of the flies"
Lucinda Lavender: nods
Bleu Oleander: so one could question our prison system
Bruce Mowbray: Indeed one could, and should.
Bleu Oleander: yes
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, sure
--BELL--
Lucinda Lavender: well I must say the children do pretty well...i am just challenged energetically. Have some ankle pain, am used to a different environment, etc. I am OUt in the woods here:)one must be very careful where they step!!!wow..helpful thought actually
Bleu Oleander: btw, Eos mentioned a Coursera class the other day on "epigenetics" ... I signed up for it and already the intro videos have been very interesting
Bleu Oleander: https://www.coursera.org/course/epigenetics
Lucinda Lavender: clicks
Bruce Mowbray: I'm currently reading a book on "The Meaning of Evolution," so I will definitely check out that link, thanks!
Xirana Oximoxi: thank you Bleu! I'll have a look ..but I want to follow too much courses:)
Bleu Oleander: quite a new and interesting concept
Bleu Oleander: yes I signed up for 6 classes lol
Bleu Oleander: they're at different times and don't overlap too much phew
Xirana Oximoxi: I think I am subscribed to 6 too:)
Bleu Oleander: it would be fun to all take one and then meet up in sl during the class to further discuss
Bruce Mowbray: Great idea!
Bleu Oleander: they suggest that
Lucinda Lavender: wow...
Bleu Oleander: joining chat groups or meetups
Xirana Oximoxi: i've downloaded the 'Know Thyself' course and will watch it later...
Bleu Oleander: when is that one?
Bleu Oleander: ah that was back in mar
Xirana Oximoxi: it's finished now... but it's really interesting :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: I can not get in to Coursera now... moment
Bleu Oleander: so even after the class you can still watch it?
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...I have downloaded all the videos
Xirana Oximoxi: they usually keep them for download some time after it finishes
Xirana Oximoxi: I can not see the page :( can you see it Luci?
Lucinda Lavender: Yes I finally got there
Bleu Oleander: I just signed up for it
Bleu Oleander: so will watch it ... thanks Xiri
Bleu Oleander: might be a great one to talk about here
Lucinda Lavender: it is not an area I know anything about:)
Bleu Oleander: it says the class is in it's final week
Bleu Oleander: but can still watch the lectures
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...I recommended it some time ago... the teacher also practices meditation... and makes a pause during it...a little bit like when we pause here too :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I have problems to get in...so can not give the link
Lucinda Lavender: nice:)
Bruce Mowbray: Would this help?
Bruce Mowbray: https://www.coursera.org/courses
Xirana Oximoxi: I think week 8 is related to Buddism
Bleu Oleander: then just search for the course title
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... I think there may be problems with a server...
Bleu Oleander: https://www.coursera.org/course/knowthyself
Xirana Oximoxi: because I can't enter any
Xirana Oximoxi: thank you Bleu
Bleu Oleander: I got in fine
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... I meant this one
Bleu Oleander: so maybe we can suggest that everyone watch this and set up a special session to discuss it?
Lucinda Lavender: that would bee cool:)
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, coooool, indeed.
Lucinda Lavender: :))
Bleu Oleander: ok I can send out an email
Lucinda Lavender: thank you bleu!
Bleu Oleander: and in a few weeks do a special session
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: maybe use my sunday 7am spot
Lucinda Lavender: or if you want a friady am spot:)
Xirana Oximoxi: that would be wonderful:)
Bleu Oleander: which ever is best ... thanks
Xirana Oximoxi: sharing a course and discussing it:)
Bruce Mowbray: (or my Saturday 1 p.m. slot.)
Bleu Oleander: sounds fun huh?
Lucinda Lavender: which one has the most attendance?
Lucinda Lavender: yes!
Bleu Oleander: actually we can make one of the weekly themes the course ideas?
Lucinda Lavender: like taking a class together
Xirana Oximoxi: yes:)
Lucinda Lavender: good idea
Bleu Oleander: can then discuss several times
Bleu Oleander: would also be fun to take a current class together and actually interact as a group
Bleu Oleander: i.e. the class on epigenetics
Bleu Oleander: https://www.coursera.org/course/epigenetics
Bleu Oleander: it starts July 1
Bleu Oleander: each week we can go over the ideas
Lucinda Lavender: I am getting ready for a wedding so I will be a bit busy...
Bleu Oleander: ah yes of course
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh that's good if it starts... some of the courses have a lot of intercativity during them
Xirana Oximoxi: I am following one about Latin America culture too :)
Bleu Oleander: well I will take it and if others want to discuss we can .... very flexible format
Bleu Oleander: there are so many interesting ones!
Lucinda Lavender: great idea...
Xirana Oximoxi: and some others to improve my writing skills ...for me is also a good way to learn English
Bleu Oleander: social psychology starting on aug 12 sounds great
Xirana Oximoxi: :-)) yes
Lucinda Lavender: we are all explorers
Lucinda Lavender: learners
Bleu Oleander: indeed
Lucinda Lavender: investigators
Lucinda Lavender: :)
Bleu Oleander: thanks for a nice conversation ... must get to work though :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I think I am a permanent learner:)
Bleu Oleander: will send out a notice on "know thyself"
Bruce Mowbray: Alas, time for my typist to mow his grass.
Bleu Oleander: hehe
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, good people.
Lucinda Lavender: :))
