    Caledonia Heron: hey Susi :)
    Susi Alcott: hi Caledonia
    Caledonia Heron: hey Stargate :)
    Caledonia Heron: hi Shilv :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: hi together
Stargate Tone: hi Cal, Shilv and Susi
    Chiaiu Chiung: Hi all :)
Caledonia Heron: have you been to this group before Shilv?
    Caledonia Heron: hi Chiaiu :)
    Susi Alcott: hi Chiaiu
    Shilv Tigerauge: No, I´m new
    Stargate Tone: Hello Cheaiu
Caledonia Heron: ok, you might want to look at
    http://playasbeing.wik.is
     to get some background Shilv
Caledonia Heron: we also record these sessions, is that ok with you? and you Chiaiu?
    Shilv Tigerauge: ok, thanks :)
Chiaiu Chiung: i know, no problem
    Caledonia Heron: ok, great :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: yes no problem

Caledonia Heron: we haven't met before so it's nice to see you both here ... I know both Susi and Stargate :)
Chiaiu Chiung: I have been here a couple of times, but nice to meet you
Shilv Tigerauge: nice to meet you
Caledonia Heron: :) .... the group is so big now there are lots of people I haven't met yet
Caledonia Heron: hey there Pema :)
    Pema Pera: Hi everybody!
    Chiaiu Chiung: Hi Pema
    Shilv Tigerauge: hi
    Susi Alcott: hi Pema
Caledonia Heron: perfect timing, we are just settling in :)
    Stargate Tone: Hello Pema
Caledonia Heron: would anyone care to share about their 9sec or other exploration? :)
Caledonia Heron: lol, don't be shy :)
Pema Pera: we all seem to be shy, Cal :)
    Caledonia Heron: or multitasking :)
Pema Pera: perhaps you have no choice but to share about your 9sec :-)
Pema Pera: (yes, that's possible too)
Caledonia Heron: I was awoken by my airedale's big wet nose in my face today while in rem sleep, a dream that seemed good but just slipped away with that slurp so I am a little foggy headed :)
Caledonia Heron: (said sipping coffee) .....
Pema Pera: slippery slurp . . . with a sip
Caledonia Heron: slurpy slip dog lip,...ick
    Pema Pera: :-)

Pema Pera: Shilv, nice to meet you!
Pema Pera: Have you been here before?
Caledonia Heron: we're just meeting I think
Shilv Tigerauge: no, my first time
Pema Pera: Willkommen zur Spielen wie Sein :)
Pema Pera: oder Spielen wie Wesen
Pema Pera: not so clear how to translate Play as Being
    Shilv Tigerauge: Danke :)
Pema Pera: Did you hear already about our web site http://playasbeing.wik.is/ ?
Shilv Tigerauge: Yes Cal told me
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Pema Pera: We actually have a German introduction: http://playasbeing.wordpress.com/summary/einfuehrung/
Pema Pera: one day we'll get more systematic about our languages
Chiaiu Chiung: I haven't tried the 9 sec myself and was thinking about trying, but not sure yet what to use to remind me after 900 sec
Shilv Tigerauge: will check out thanks
Chiaiu Chiung: what do you use, alarm clocks?
Pema Pera: yes, Chiaiu, that can be tricky
Chiaiu Chiung: should be easy on the pc, but not sure about rl
Pema Pera: some people use alarm clocks, others computer clocks, others just try to remember themselves
Pema Pera: let me see whether I can find a web site
Chiaiu Chiung: I normally do the last (but I always forget ...)
Caledonia Heron: sometimes you're really into it and you remember a lot, other times less often
Play as being Watch  v1.1 for woman will ring next in 12 minutes 11 seconds.
Caledonia Heron: some people do it all the time
Chiaiu Chiung: so you don't have a strict 900 sec reminder?
Caledonia Heron: me? or people in general?
    Chiaiu Chiung: general
Caledonia Heron: several people have chimes that ring in intervals I think
Caledonia Heron: from their computer or watch
Pema Pera: http://www.mindfulnessdc.org/mindfulclock.html is a web site for an alarm clock that you can run on your computer
Chiaiu Chiung: I mean I try to be aware as much and often as I can but especially in stressy rl situations I often forget it
Stargate Tone gave you Play as being Watch  v1.0 for woman.
Caledonia Heron: ty for the watch Stargate :)
Stargate Tone: we may thank Moon for it :)****
    Chiaiu Chiung: thanks stargate :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: thanks too

Pema Pera: yes, Chiaiu, that is why we try to do the exploration regularly, so that it becomes a habit
Pema Pera: which you can continue even in times of stress
Pema Pera: if you don't like to use an alarm clock, a good method is to keep a note book or just piece of paper or open computer file
Chiaiu Chiung: I know, and it makes sense to me
Pema Pera: and each time you remember to do a 9-sec break, you write down when you did it
Chiaiu Chiung: was also thinking about using rl events to remind me
Pema Pera: and then you will see if you forget for a long time, and you can then write "--" there
    Caledonia Heron: lol
Chiaiu Chiung: like wehenever I hear a bird, or a telephone, or whatever
    Caledonia Heron: --
Stargate Tone: sadly I must go too *
    Caledonia Heron: bye :)
    Stargate Tone: _/!\_
    Pema Pera: bye Star!
    Chiaiu Chiung: bye stargate
    Shilv Tigerauge: bye

Shilv Tigerauge: this idea of meditation is new for me, but i will try it
Pema Pera: So this would be an example:
    9:03: hard to relax
    9:20: deeper this time
    9:30: --
    9:45: --
    10:08: rats, I skipped twice
10:16: better, at least I thought about it!
10:34: ah, an opening in the clouds
    10:45: --
    11:00: --
    11:15: --
    11:30: --
    11:48: oops, well, try again
Caledonia Heron: the deal is to stop what you're doing, drop whatever and notice
Pema Pera: You see, this will tell you exactly how often you forget, and day after day you'll get better at it . . .
Caledonia Heron: yeah, you really do improve at it
Chiaiu Chiung: why stop what you are doing? WHat about going on doing, but with full awareness?
Pema Pera: yes, that's even better!
    Paradox Olbers is Offline
Caledonia Heron: you can keep doing if you're doing :)
Pema Pera: with "stop" I really mean stop sticking to it, stop being entranced by it
Caledonia Heron: yes, not like stopping your car :)

Pema Pera: the easiest way at first is to really stop and drop what you're doing (if it is safe :)
Pema Pera: but later you can continue and drop your "glue"
    Chiaiu Chiung: i see
Chiaiu Chiung: what exactly are you trying to focus on for the 9 sec?
Caledonia Heron: what do you think about the time the glue stays stuck? A recent event is sticking with me
Chiaiu Chiung: everything, one thing ..?
Caledonia Heron: I guess be glued :)
Pema Pera: you can then watch the glue :)
Pema Pera: better than being caught by it
Caledonia Heron: yes, have been watching glue, seems ok
Pema Pera: watching will begin the process of dealing with it . . .
Pema Pera: letting it be there . . . . not fighting it
Caledonia Heron: I can see the glue, not be at the effect of glue ... maybe that is ok
Pema Pera: sure, a good start!
Pema Pera: do you want to tell us about your glue example, Caledonia?
Caledonia Heron: it will pass, glue will melt again :)
    Pema Pera: Oops, brb, sorry
Pema Pera: (am at a car dealer being called :-)

Chiaiu Chiung: I normally try to expand my conscious whenever I manage to remind me of being aware, not sure how to describe it otherwise
Chiaiu Chiung: it is a feel like the mind growing in all directions
Caledonia Heron: I've thought about how to describe what that is ... the part you can describe as "expand my consciousness" or "mind growing" .... I often can see the "grown or growing" as apart from myself ... does that make sense to you?
    Chiaiu Chiung: yes, I think
Caledonia Heron: an apartness that sees myself and is myself but not myself....sounds funny when I read that
Chiaiu Chiung: like seeing oneself from outside?
    Pema Pera: (back :)
Caledonia Heron: I type the word apartness but that doesn't really hit it because it not truely apart it is a whole thing
    Caledonia Heron: wb :)
Caledonia Heron: a whole big thing
    Caledonia Heron: messy to quantify
    Chiaiu Chiung: the whole... moment

Pema Pera: wonderful descriptions that you both gave -- I know, it is hard to describe, but easy to recognize when somebody else has the courage to try to describe it!
Caledonia Heron: lol, yeah the second you know it, it's gone, totally sucks cuz you want to know it without knowing it
Chiaiu Chiung: it goes along with concentration, and concentration with relaxation
    Pema Pera: yes
Pema Pera: Coming back to stopping or not stopping, what you stop or drop can depend on the situation
Pema Pera: like if you are talking with someone, for the 9 seconds you can try to drop yourself! Drop your own judgment and preconceptions and try to be really present with the other as he or she presents him/herself
Pema Pera: so you don't have to stop the conversation
Chiaiu Chiung: stop with being unaware...
    Pema Pera: yes
Caledonia Heron: a friend calls that be here now
    Pema Pera: yes indeed
    Chiaiu Chiung: yes
Pema Pera: and ideally we do that all the time
Pema Pera: but that is so hard as to be almost impossible
Chiaiu Chiung: that is the ultimate goal
Pema Pera: we're just being modest here, starting with 1 %
Pema Pera: 9 out of 900 sec :)
Chiaiu Chiung: in theory so easy
Pema Pera: and there is nothing stopping us from doing it more and more and more often
Pema Pera: till we do it all the time
Pema Pera: yeah, theory is easy yes :)
Caledonia Heron: sometimes if I be here now I seem like I'm not paying attention to the conversation because I don't have an immediate response so at that point it's be here then .... ha ha, silly joke
Pema Pera: here for now :)
Caledonia Heron: yeah, that'll do because you get what you get
Pema Pera: did we all get that?
    Caledonia Heron: no idea

Pema Pera: that's the point: 9 seconds without ideas!
Caledonia Heron: it's pretty radical to have no ideas
Chiaiu Chiung: i have got a question....
Caledonia Heron: an opportunity, openess, a defenselessness,
    Pema Pera: yes
Chiaiu Chiung: when you are in sl during the 9 sec....
Chiaiu Chiung: do you concentrate on things in sl, or in rl?
Chiaiu Chiung: know what I meanß
    Chiaiu Chiung: mean?
    Pema Pera: either way, Chiaiu
Chiaiu Chiung: I ask because I am not sure...
Chiaiu Chiung: in how far being in a simulated world is against the idea of being here and now
Pema Pera: oh now, it is all one continuum
Pema Pera: we are here in Bieup, at the Play as Being pavilion
Pema Pera: now at 7:44 am SLT
Chiaiu Chiung: that's the easiest solution probably
Caledonia Heron: agreed, it all flows together somehow
Chiaiu Chiung: maybe rl is just another simulation anyway
    Daniel Voyager is Online
Pema Pera: yes, moving between rl and sl can give you the idea that there may be other ways of switching
    Pema Pera: or waking up
    Chiaiu Chiung: right
Pema Pera: overshooting so to speak: out from sl into rl and then out of rl to . . . ?
Pema Pera: like waking up from a dream

Pema Pera: Shilv has some nice quotes about that in her profile :)
Chiaiu Chiung: from the Matrix :)
    Caledonia Heron: :)
Caledonia Heron: how to wake, be awake with heavy sleepers
    Caledonia Heron: all around
Pema Pera: The last line in German tells us that Shilv is in SL in search of herself
Caledonia Heron: you are in your chair
Pema Pera: she landed here in search of herself, to be more precise :)
Chiaiu Chiung: like me .. or we all?
    Shilv Tigerauge: yes that true
Caledonia Heron: nah, no quest for me
Pema Pera: we're light sleepers, I hope :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: hope too
Chiaiu Chiung: then we can wake up any minute :)
Pema Pera: if Moon would be here, he would make a loud noise :-)
Pema Pera: yes, waking up cannot take time, you do or you don't :)
Caledonia Heron: like when you're riding in the car and your head is bobbing, sleep/wake, sleep/wake ...
    Pema Pera: hahaha
Caledonia Heron: don't hit that tree!!
Pema Pera: yeah, and then you stop, in a ditch?
    Caledonia Heron: lol, possible

Shilv Tigerauge: i like the few moments in live when time stops running, than sometimes i feel awake
    Caledonia Heron: yes, very awake!
Chiaiu Chiung: yes, those short moments that give you an idea
    Pema Pera: yes, indeed, Shilv!
Chiaiu Chiung: how it might feel
Pema Pera: we feel more alive and more at home and more our real self then
Caledonia Heron: flip the percentage from more sleep/less awake, to less sleep/more awake a little, more and more somehow
Chiaiu Chiung: something more important than all you can buy for money
    Shilv Tigerauge: yes
Shilv Tigerauge: but if you try to stop it, it doesnt stop
Shilv Tigerauge: the time i mean
    Shilv Tigerauge: i cant controll
Chiaiu Chiung: the harder you try the less it works
    Shilv Tigerauge: yes
Caledonia Heron: we know where "try" is at, .... it's "trying" :)
Chiaiu Chiung: then we hear we only have to let go instead of trying...
Chiaiu Chiung: so I try again...
Chiaiu Chiung: letting go this time .. still trying
Pema Pera: yes, great point Cal!
Pema Pera: yes, whenever we try to reach we won't get it . . .
    Shilv Tigerauge: yes so true
Caledonia Heron: lol, humans are such "tryers" too, funny that

Pema Pera: so we drop our sense of self and let the Universe "do"
    Pema Pera: through us
    Pema Pera: doing through not-doing
    Chiaiu Chiung: WU WEI
    Shilv Tigerauge: yes tao
Pema Pera: yes, wu wei !
Caledonia Heron: yeah, you know a lot of messy mental gymnastics fall away when you do that,
Pema Pera: Do you know Chinese, Chiaiu?
    Pema Pera: indeed, Cal
Pema Pera: and yes, Shilv, from Taoism
    Caledonia Heron: wooo-wheee
Chiaiu Chiung: maybe three words, wu wei are two of them :)
    Pema Pera: and your name!
Caledonia Heron: what you scream on the roller coaster :)
Pema Pera: I like the wooo-wheee
Pema Pera: perhaps closer to wooo-waaayyy
    Caledonia Heron: lol
Pema Pera: (like in "way out!")
Pema Pera: ((not the exit sign ))
    Pema Pera: (((the sixties usage)))
Caledonia Heron: hair flappin, arms up ......
    Caledonia Heron: far out :)
Chiaiu Chiung: i think i must go
Chiaiu Chiung: something to do in rl
Caledonia Heron: it was nice to meet you :)
Chiaiu Chiung: nice to meet you :)
    Pema Pera: bye Chiaiu
    Chiaiu Chiung: bye
Caledonia Heron: please do come again :)
Pema Pera: great seeing you again!
Pema Pera: Oh, before you go!
Shilv Tigerauge: hope to cu soon again
    Chiaiu Chiung: will do
    Chiaiu Chiung: bye

Pema Pera: Cal, Chiaiu is our latest new guardian!
Pema Pera: as of today :)
Caledonia Heron: oh, well how about that :)
Pema Pera: welcome to our group, Chiaiu!
    Chiaiu Chiung: :)
Caledonia Heron: yes, for sure, welcome :)
Pema Pera: I'm adding you to the email group while we speak
    Pema Pera: speak
Chiaiu Chiung: as said, before talking to newbies I would like to be not the newbie myself anymore...
Caledonia Heron: we're all newbies on this bus :)
    Pema Pera: beginner's mind . . . .
Chiaiu Chiung: but looking forward to the email discussions
    Pema Pera: thanks, Chi!
    Chiaiu Chiung: thanks
    Caledonia Heron: bye :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: bye :)
Shilv Tigerauge: I think i will go too
Caledonia Heron: ok, nice to meet you also :)
Pema Pera: bye Shilv, nice to meet you!
Pema Pera: komme mal wieder bald zurueck !
Shilv Tigerauge: i will come back was very interesting for me

    Pema Pera: ich bin Hollaender
    Caledonia Heron: ich bin Texan
Pema Pera: aber wohne in die Staten
    Pema Pera: hahaha
    Caledonia Heron: :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: im from germany
Pema Pera: that sounds great, Cal, especially with the Texan accent!
Pema Pera: I live in Manhattan, in New York City
Caledonia Heron: lol, showing my global citizenry :)
Pema Pera: Cal lives in the middle of nowhere in Texas
Pema Pera: five miles from your neighbor?
Caledonia Heron: ****** :) , not quite nowhere
Caledonia Heron: a ways out of town, on a ranch
Pema Pera: well, okay, at the edge of nowhere then
Caledonia Heron: hey, it's the center of the universe :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: cu soon
Pema Pera: the universe is mostly nowhere :)
    Shilv Tigerauge: bye
    Caledonia Heron: bye Shilv :)
    Pema Pera: Tschuess!
Caledonia Heron: yeah, so I guess you're right, the edge of nowhere :)
Pema Pera: and then there were two . . . .
    Caledonia Heron: :)
