Wol Euler: I'm not certain that I can answer that well, I too struggle with the concept of time

Wol Euler: there has been much debate here lately about time/timelessness

SophiaSharon Larnia: yes it has accelerated we all know that

Wol Euler: the consensus seems to be that "time" is a kind of attachment, which can prevent us from appreciating our nature and what is really around is.

Wol Euler: (though "really" is also a concept that gets debated here regularly)

SophiaSharon Larnia: my problem is that I am too mystical and have a hard time putting these things in to words

Mickorod Renard: yes,,I have a belief that all time is now,,but there must be some division between what has been and what is etc

Mickorod Renard: I quite like the idea of understanding time,,but have a sneaky idea that even understood i will still grow old and die just as quick

arabella Ella: we know that as humans we are programmed to view RL in terms of space and time

Scathach Rhiadra: mmm, but I think the idea is understanding gives more appreciation of the 'now'

SophiaSharon Larnia: its not so much time that I am worried about, it is the feeling that I have that we are running out of it

Wol Euler: but if you did understand it fully, perhaps you would experience it differently.

arabella Ella: and our language which may differentiate us from animals allows us to speak and envision the distant past and the distant futute

Qt Core: don't know if it is related to some form of feeling time but sometimes i feel a little overhelmed about all the things that i know (or i don't know) that are happening now, in all the world/universe and the few i'm experoiiencing

arabella Ella: i personally find it weird how time can stretch so much when we are bored and idle and pass so fast when we are busy and occupied with tasks

arabella Ella: time seems to expand and contract somehow

Mickorod Renard: I speculated the the amount of exposure we have to stimulating information is another reason for us feeling rushed

SophiaSharon Larnia: so we are doing it or is it 'real'

arabella Ella: with what quantum mechanics shows us it is difficult to tell what is real

Wol Euler: the reaction to it, the fear and dread, is a choice that we make.

Mickorod Renard: and yes, I think the answer to your question is that we do have an ability to slow our perception of time down

Wol Euler: we can certainly control and reduce the feeling of haste and hurry that sometimes arises

Wol Euler: that goes back to where we started, sophia, when you were talking about being grounded

Mickorod Renard: true,,but in sl u talk with ur heart

arabella Ella: yes but typing frees us up to be more spontaneous here i feel

Qt Core: don't know, i think that here typing we can concentrate more o the ideas we want to express

arabella Ella: but i also think we get to know the real essence of each avi and the person behind the avi through their typing

Wol Euler: well, either hide or express yourself more fully . express a different "you" too

Qt Core: i even like (sometimes) that i'm not using my own language

arabella Ella: what is your language Qt?

SophiaSharon Larnia: i feel bad I only know one language

Qt Core: italian

Mickorod Renard: I speak some french,,but I only know English

arabella Ella: oh i speak and chat in italian too ... smile

arabella Ella: your english is very good for an italian ... if you are italian that is

SophiaSharon Larnia: knowing other languages gives you flexibility of mind that is difficult to obtain otherwise

Wol Euler: I think that's true, sophia

Qt Core: i often censor my own thought and i find that it is harder to do that in english as i have to spend the "resources" i use to filter my thought to translate them

SophiaSharon Larnia: ahhh interesting

Wol Euler: do you think in Italian and then translate to English?

Scathach Rhiadra: mmm, does anyone feel that their personality is slightly diffferent when speaking another language?

Qt Core: but then there are the times i'm not able to translate more complex thought and that is annoying

Wol Euler: definitely!

arabella Ella: i can chat in three languages and do not find much difference when i do

Mickorod Renard: yes,,mine is timid for a start

SophiaSharon Larnia: thats is how i feel when i try to express alot of what i think, like it is a different language

Qt Core: i even started having some dreams in english

Mickorod Renard: that is often something that you overcome by attending meetings like this one

Qt Core: no, just dreams where the audio is in english... and no subtitles

SophiaSharon Larnia: ive been trying for decades lol

Mickorod Renard: When I lived in france I dreampt in french

arabella Ella: I worked with germans for a time and used to dream and think in germawn in those days

Qt Core: the funny things is i almost read and write english, i almost never speak it

arabella Ella: you dont get much opportunity to speak english then it seems

arabella Ella: just like i get few opportunities to speak italian

Mickorod Renard: is that just because you do not have enough english speakers to commune with daily?

Qt Core: i've spoken iot for half an ghour in last 20 years and a couple hours here in sl in the l;ast 2 weeeks ;-)

Qt Core: that would raise interesting question... are words/concepts electrical schemas equals or similar in different people ?

Wol Euler: yes, would you be able to "touch" an Italian and be understood by him?

Qt Core: just between same language speaking people would be interesting

arabella Ella: i think it would depend on culture and upbringing

arabella Ella: and education too

Mickorod Renard: yes,,some cultures use signals too when communicating

arabella Ella: yes i love to speak with my hands and gestures too

Mickorod Renard: hand movements etc

Qt Core: just the difference about having or not having a neutre gender would make a mess of that kind of communication

Wol Euler: I noticed when I moved to Germany that they don't use their hands much when speaking. A lot of their gesturing is done with their eyes, eyebrows, chin ...
