Raffila Millgrove: hi xirana
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Raffi, Xirana :)
Eliza Madrigal: good to see you both and I hope that you may have a topic :)
Xirana Oximoxi: it must be a silly one or a seroius one? :)
Eliza Madrigal: either way, sometimes the serious pops out of the silly and vice versa
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I love the link you have given about the african orchestra:)
Raffila Millgrove: mm. i must have missed that.
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, thank you. Let me paste that here as well

Eliza Madrigal: thanks Xiri :)
Xirana Oximoxi: ui...sorry:)
Xirana Oximoxi: it's a little long...but it's amazing hoe some women go to the 'preparing (essays?) session with the children...not wanting to miss it
Eliza Madrigal: it is in some ways about the transformative power of music
Eliza Madrigal: oh, yes that part stood out for me as well Xiri
Eliza Madrigal: amidst a war torn environment, and lots of hard work, there is this beautiful culture
Xirana Oximoxi: to practice
Eliza Madrigal: an oasis , and in a sense, a 'teleport' spot to a different land
Xirana Oximoxi: it's has remembered me about the Ubuntu video we saw long ago
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: ahhh Ubuntu, yes
Eliza Madrigal: Ubuntu is in some ways about 'hosting'
Eliza Madrigal: Hi San :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hi San:)
Santoshima Resident: 'morning
Xirana Oximoxi: yes! sharing and feeling the sense of community makes a group feel stronger
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Sunshine described it to me as she heard from Mandela, that ubuntu means that a visitor is recognized as being away from their place of belonging... therefore it is the role of the community to recreate that, in a way
Eliza Madrigal: and that it is a continually renewing exchange
Xirana Oximoxi: oh yes! Sun knows it first hand
Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: zulu girl:)
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Xirana Oximoxi: San...the conversation has statred with a comment I've made wabout a video Eliza has shared with me... http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7404678n
Santoshima Resident: ok
Eliza Madrigal: Music certainly has that power, to create an environment
Santoshima Resident: "Ubuntu" search only gleans computer references
Eliza Madrigal: and every environment has its unique music :)
Santoshima Resident: (sP)
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, let's see,,,
Santoshima Resident: sadly
Xirana Oximoxi: why 'sadly' San?
Eliza Madrigal: Ubuntu: "I am what I am because of who we all are." (From a translation offered by Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee.)
Archbishop Desmond Tutu offered a definition in a 1999 book:[3] A person with Ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, based from a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh sorry, I see what you mean
Santoshima Resident: my search engine skills need work, Xirana
Eliza Madrigal: http://bit.ly/IR594Y
Eliza Madrigal: Leymah Gbowee is incredibly inspiring
(she is quoted on this page)
Eliza Madrigal: I would highly recommend watching a video of an interview with her
Xirana Oximoxi: ok..I will try to find and watch :)
Santoshima Resident: wonderful video, Eliza
Xirana Oximoxi: Eliza search engine is quick :)
Eliza Madrigal: ty, it did fill me with joy to watch
Eliza Madrigal: :) I just added "Africa" to the search
Xirana Oximoxi: yep! sometimes is good to be aware of wonderful activities people is doing..if I only see the news I get quite depressed
Raffila Millgrove: amazing music--story. thank you for sharing.
Eliza Madrigal: most welcome
Eliza Madrigal: agree Xiri, there is so much news between the "news"... have to search it out in a focused way I guess :)
Santoshima Resident: Armand! such a vision he had ... and so much drive
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :) We are sharing Ubuntu
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Santoshima Resident: everyone, wanting to make music ... just so great
Bleu Oleander: hi all :)
Xirana Oximoxi: we need to find a balance... if only bad news the world seems to go to hell
Xirana Oximoxi: hi Bleu! :)
Eliza Madrigal: isn't it beautiful... started with a tiny seed of inspiration
--BELL--
Xirana Oximoxi: I also ask myself if so much negative news are studied and useful to have people scared and in a easy way to be manipulated
Xirana Oximoxi: I've put the volume on... if not I always miss the bell:)
Eliza Madrigal nods Xiri, think this is true, we stay in a state of coping if mainstream news is our main way of connection
Raffila Millgrove: Hi blue.
Bleu Oleander: hi Raffi :)
Raffila Millgrove: Bleu
Eliza Madrigal: http://bit.ly/IR7jkX <--- TED talk from Gbowee

Xirana Oximoxi: have a nice weekend too
Eliza Madrigal: it will give a peek of her anyway... she is very much 'herself' and it is a pleasure to listen to her
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, sure! :)
Eliza Madrigal: ah, another nice description of Ubuntu then I will stop pasting, hah :
Eliza Madrigal:
Tutu further explained Ubuntu in 2008:[4] One of the sayings in our country is Ubuntu – the essence of being human. Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can't exist as a human being in isolation. It speaks about our interconnectedness.
You can't be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality – Ubuntu – you are known for your generosity. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole World. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity.
Bleu Oleander: can't argue with that !
Eliza Madrigal: ! this news need to get out ! hah
Eliza Madrigal: I will need to go early, but thanks for an inspiring angle this morning Xirana... nice frame for the day
Eliza Madrigal: :::wishing safe travels to Luci::::
