    oO0Oo Resident: Hiya Bertrum
Paradise Tennant: what was the theme this week ?
    oO0Oo Resident: ah.. just sec..
oO0Oo Resident: Here we go: How does PaB apply science in its quest to "explore reality by using our own life as a laboratory"?
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya boxy :))
    oO0Oo Resident: Hiya !
    Bertrum Resident: hi Boxy
    Alfred Kelberry: para girl :)
Alfred Kelberry: so, no storm i see
oO0Oo Resident: well shoot.. I mean chute
    Alfred Kelberry: oh, wait
    Alfred Kelberry: mr storm :)
    Storm Nordwind: Hello everyone :)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya storm :))
    Bertrum Resident: hi Storm
Paradise Tennant: we were just going to revisit this week's theme unless someone wanted to talk about anything else
Alfred Kelberry: question: do any of you go to gym regularly?
    Paradise Tennant: yes
    Paradise Tennant: why
    Bertrum Resident: irregularly
Alfred Kelberry: sporty girl, para :)
    Storm Nordwind: never have
Paradise Tennant: what prompted the question boxy ?
    Alfred Kelberry: curiosity :)
Bertrum Resident: what about you, Boxy?
    Alfred Kelberry: i do
    --BELL--
    Alfred Kelberry: oh...
Paradise Tennant: was thinking about the conversation you had with pema .. this week and tried to pay very special attention to appearances boxy .. found more beauty than science :)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya san :)
    Santoshima Resident: hello :)
Paradise Tennant: boxy do you remember it ?
    Alfred Kelberry: sort of :)
Alfred Kelberry: i recall though that beauty was not an argument :)
Paradise Tennant: no it wasn't but that is what came up for me when I tried to apply science :)
Paradise Tennant: or careful observation .. found myself nose to nose with beauty everywhere
Alfred Kelberry: yes, it's good to note beauty around us
oO0Oo Resident smiles and takes note
Alfred Kelberry: even for a person living in the slums there are bright points, i imagine
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJwuhs0ZPM
Storm Nordwind: I lived in slums for many years.
Alfred Kelberry: strom, what bright points did you note back then?
Alfred Kelberry: apart from being younger :)
Storm Nordwind: There were always bright points. Every day brings wonder.
Paradise Tennant: yes every day brings wonder
Storm Nordwind: Too numerous to catalogue
oO0Oo Resident: ty Para.. ::listens for Storm ::
Alfred Kelberry: storm, e.g. a beautiful sunrise?
Paradise Tennant: or the way a cloud chases across the sky .. the steam that rises from your coffee in the morning ..
Storm Nordwind: Well it was rare to see the sunrise, but there were always people being kind to each other, despite hardship
    oO0Oo Resident smiles and moonset
Storm Nordwind: Always the breeze, a bird, a cloud, a smile
    Alfred Kelberry: neat
Storm Nordwind: The oily rainbow in a puddle
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: *wonders how a programmer could end up in slums* :)
Storm Nordwind: There was always the wonder of learning
Storm Nordwind: I started out there
    Alfred Kelberry: ah
Storm Nordwind: And moving so many times - 40 in all - meant that a fair proportion of the time i was in temporary housing of the "affordable" kind!
Storm Nordwind: Some cities in the UK are poor. But some of the people will melt your heart. :)
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
oO0Oo Resident: there is the real treasure
Storm Nordwind: And out of hardship comes creativity. In Glasgow, for example, there was a thriving art scene - all different kinds
    --BELL--
Storm Nordwind: And for those who couldn't appreciate the beauty of all that, there was always the finest whisky in the world ;)
    Paradise Tennant: lol

Paradise Tennant: living an ordinary life in an extraordinary way
    oO0Oo Resident: magic
Paradise Tennant: regardless of the when .. the where .. what's in the bank  ...the fridge ...your pocket :)
Paradise Tennant: mostly all about what is in your heart
Alfred Kelberry: storm: so, the highlights - fine arts and whisky, which both consumed provide the means of appreciation of oily rainbows :)
Storm Nordwind: Or made, for others to consume :)
    oO0Oo Resident: http://imm.io/vhkv
Alfred Kelberry: ok, i got the point :)
    oO0Oo Resident: <3
Storm Nordwind: Thank you Sam. Just looking at the guy warms the heart!
Alfred Kelberry: storm, that's not far from some village folks around here - they can be quite appreciative too with their liquids :)
    Alfred Kelberry: ms stev :)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya stev :)
oO0Oo Resident: I'm sure many felt the same looking at you in all the places you have lived Storm.
Storm Nordwind: The thing, boxy, is not so much being appreciative as generous
    Bertrum Resident: hi Stev
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Stevenaia
Storm Nordwind: You are so kind Sam. I hope so :))
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves...watching 1st video
Storm Nordwind: Anyone can take and appreciate. Giving is special.
Alfred Kelberry: *gives storm one linden*
    Santoshima Resident: hello druth
    druth Vlodovic: hey guys
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Paradise Tennant: hiya druth good to see you :)
Storm Nordwind: Thank you Boxy. That was special :)
    Bertrum Resident: hi Druth
oO0Oo Resident: Giving without expectation of return is said to be the true practice of generosity.
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Druth
    Storm Nordwind nods
Alfred Kelberry: sam, people who give expect to feel good about themselves :)
Storm Nordwind: Some do. Some don't
Alfred Kelberry: it may be subconscious, but it's there
oO0Oo Resident: that may be a hasty generalisation Boxy
druth Vlodovic: best not to, expecting to feel good about giving only gives reward if you do
Storm Nordwind: boxy, the amateur psychologist, will tell us we're in denial if we don't acknowledge it as fact
druth Vlodovic: (may I have a link to the video?)
stevenaia Michinaga: some people just have extra it to give, nothing more
    oO0Oo Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJwuhs0ZPM
    druth Vlodovic: Thank you :)
    --BELL--
oO0Oo Resident: Yes.. generosity *seems* to flow from a natural state of enoughness..
Alfred Kelberry: storm, the amateur buddhist will tell us, we're not enlightened to understand the fact :)
oO0Oo Resident: dropping seems naturally generous
Paradise Tennant: smiles and thinks we are all pretty much amateurs :) at everything
    Storm Nordwind nods and smiles
    Bertrum Resident: :)
oO0Oo Resident: if attached.. then hard to let go, or not expect return.. so dropping may be practice in generosity
    oO0Oo Resident: hypothesis<---
Paradise Tennant: find it easy to be generous when you really think hard about what a rental program life is ..
Paradise Tennant: everything is temporary .. nothing absolutely nothing is something you own
Storm Nordwind: Yes. Such dropping can sometimes confuse some people though. They can interpret such dropping of attachment as no longer caring.
Alfred Kelberry: can we form this "dropping" into a real example?
Alfred Kelberry: how about dropping a few pounds?
stevenaia Michinaga: look ar Mr Happy, all he has is the love he gives
oO0Oo Resident: yens for a few pounds
    stevenaia Michinaga: seems quite content
    oO0Oo Resident: JK
    Storm Nordwind: yes Steve
Alfred Kelberry: he's got fame too, apparently. i've heard his name at least several times for the past few days.
stevenaia Michinaga: the man with the least has so much to give that they built a monument to him
    stevenaia Michinaga: concrete enough?
oO0Oo Resident: Nice to build statues honoring a more diverse array of things..
Storm Nordwind: Be like a hosepipe! If you block one end and don't let the water (or love) out, it goes stagnant inside you. If you give it away freely, it keeping coming to you and flowing through you. :)
    Storm Nordwind: *keeps
oO0Oo Resident: Radical statues made by same folks that engage in radical cartography perhaps
    oO0Oo Resident: http://is.gd/aCRtoE
Storm Nordwind: Nice. The final map looks like a mindmap :)
    oO0Oo Resident: a mine and yours mindmap ; )
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
    --BELL--
Paradise Tennant: been doing a meditation practise where I try to wrap the people I meet in kind of a blanket of caring.. just a visualization will do .. standing at the bus.. buying my coffee.. and invariably it seems to help me .. not sure on what it does for them but it puts my mind in a very positive framework
Paradise Tennant: like somehow .. it lowers your resistance ..
    oO0Oo Resident: Ms. Happy
    Paradise Tennant: to the flow
    Paradise Tennant: yes
oO0Oo Resident: increased sensitivity.. less barrier
    oO0Oo Resident: raw
    oO0Oo Resident: tender
    oO0Oo Resident: sensitive
Storm Nordwind: The barrier is down in both directions
oO0Oo Resident: intergenerousity.. in this rental life.. please rewind before returning
    Storm Nordwind smiles
Paradise Tennant: wonders how many times we rewind :)
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
    oO0Oo Resident: jakata tales
oO0Oo Resident: Rainbows now available in Glasgow puddles
Paradise Tennant: rainbows surround us at every moment .. we just don't see them unless there is water ..
oO0Oo Resident: We'd better let the hose flow..
oO0Oo Resident: or we will dry up
oO0Oo Resident: dandelion seeds on the wind
Storm Nordwind loves all these images and references. Thank you Sam :)
Alfred Kelberry: question: has anyone read a book called: stuff white people like?
    Paradise Tennant: lol
oO0Oo Resident: I suspect someone, at least the author
    Alfred Kelberry: it's totally awesome
    Alfred Kelberry: take a look
    oO0Oo Resident: DFTBA
Alfred Kelberry: nailed a lot of things
Alfred Kelberry: though it's north america centric
oO0Oo Resident: I've spent so much time trying to pull nails
Alfred Kelberry: sam, what's this long acronym?
    oO0Oo Resident: Nerd Fighters' motto
Alfred Kelberry: ok, i'll give you a quote from the book
oO0Oo Resident: Don't Forget To Be Awesome
druth Vlodovic: g2g, have fun guys
Alfred Kelberry: sam, good one :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Druth
    oO0Oo Resident: Oops.. g2g too..
    oO0Oo Resident waves.. ty everyone
    Storm Nordwind: Bye!
stevenaia Michinaga: I think I will also bed down fror the night
    stevenaia Michinaga: night all :)
Alfred Kelberry: here's one: "White people like Barack Obama because they are afraid that if they don’t they will be considered racist."
    Bertrum Resident: night Steve
    Storm Nordwind: Satire is satire
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: "White people will often say they are “spiritual” but not religious. This usually means that they will believe in any religion that doesn’t involve Jesus."
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: here's the best quote on awareness that i read: "White people firmly believe all of the world’s problems can be solved through “awareness” — meaning the process of making other people aware of problems, magically causing someone else, like the government, to fix it."
Storm Nordwind: To get the flavor of the book, look at the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section for its page on Amazon!
Alfred Kelberry: storm, i take it you're a bit critical of the book :)
Storm Nordwind: No. It's lighthearted and not serious. Just humor. I like humor.
Alfred Kelberry: storm, i wonder how much you would score on this book :)
Paradise Tennant: well I am getting sleepy so on that humourous note I am going to say thank you and good night :))
    Storm Nordwind: Goodnight!
    Bertrum Resident: Night
Alfred Kelberry: there are 150 things white people like in the book
    Bertrum Resident: night paradise.
Alfred Kelberry: night, para girl :)
Bertrum Resident: I'll need to log-ff too. night everyone.
Paradise Tennant: night night my friends :)
Alfred Kelberry: we should do a competition :)
    Storm Nordwind: Time to go.
    Alfred Kelberry: yea
