Zen (zen.arado): when you do a ceremony called Jukai in Zen they give you a scroll that gives you your lineage right back to Buddha

Zen (zen.arado): otherwise we wouldn't have the teachings
Zen (zen.arado): most new age teachings are some kind of blend of Eastern teachings

Zen (zen.arado): and he instructed his pupils not to believe teachers and authorities, not even himself, and to test everything in their own experience
Zen (zen.arado): I liked that stress on direct experience rather than following scriptures, in Zen
