DR42 Resident: Either. I did have strange dreams last night, but I can only remember fragments.

Xirana Oximoxi: as a way to fix them
DR42 Resident: I tried, but they were gone before I could. I actually keep a small recorder on the nightstand
Xirana Oximoxi: oh! what do you mean?... a tool to record voice?
DR42 Resident: Yes. It is about half the size of a cigarette pack and can record up to 5000 hours.

Xirana Oximoxi: are your dreams in colour?
Xirana Oximoxi: I am curious because I am still not sure about mine
DR42 Resident: Some are. And some are B&W

Xirana Oximoxi: somehow the colour becomes important and then I can remember it...but not always
DR42 Resident: Last night I dreamed I was in a room that had alcoves and such, not a simply box. It had vertical stripes on the walls, but it had no doors or windows, only a closet. It was rather sparse.
Xirana Oximoxi: do you recognise this room?
Xirana Oximoxi: I mean as some place you've been or similar
DR42 Resident: I haven't the foggiest idea what the dream was about. And, no, I did not recognise the room, but it felt like it was my bedroom.
Xirana Oximoxi: ok:) and are you usually able to interpret the dreams?
DR42 Resident: Not always, but, perchance, 50% of the time.
Xirana Oximoxi: since we are talking about dreams and trying to make a kind of art work, I am more aware of them...and as far as I remember a lot of them are about thing, thoughs, readings, images I did the day before and also more long ago....a megamix :)
DR42 Resident: I was feeling rather viridescent last night. Still am today.

DR42 Resident: The other dream, I was looking out the window of my bedroom. It was daytime, and in the spring. Then the whole thing started to flex and move and warp, kind of like a Dali painting.

DR42 Resident: Not sure. I have forgotten all the kafka I ever read.
Xirana Oximoxi: it's a short story of a boy that when waking up becomes aware about his transformation to a kind of insect... and all of the consequences that it brings to him...
Bleu Oleander: didn't the character turn into a big bug?

Xirana Oximoxi: yes.... Kafka never described directly the 'bug'...

Bleu Oleander: actually one of the upcoming Coursera classed uses that book

DR42 Resident: In this case, it would be related to having some medical tests while under anesthesia. Or, some sort of flu.

Xirana Oximoxi: it may be not scientific, but I think literature sometimes can give us a lot of information about things, events, feelings..about ourselves...

DR42 Resident: I think you are always you, what changes is how you filter and prioritize you perception of the world.

DR42 Resident: We all go thru metamorphosis, some subtle, some drastic. It can be difficult to learn to keep the best of your old perceptions and merge them in with your new perceptions.
Zen Arado: with a myriad viewpoints
Bleu Oleander: metamorphosis might be a good weekly theme
Zen Arado: we don't even know the best
Korel Laloix: I have been reading my journals recently... really amazing to see how things flow.... or dont.
Zen Arado: the best in our present viewpoint only
Korel Laloix: Things that I though were big changes, but turned out to be just short phases.
Zen Arado: heh I never read them
Zen Arado: but we come back to things don't we?
Korel Laloix: And how I want to perceive myself... vs how I am.
Zen Arado: our abilities determine that I think

Korel Laloix: But our filters make us comforatable.
Korel Laloix: But they also do let us interpret things better sometimes.
Zen Arado: maybe that is bad..too much comfort

Zen Arado: people get into ruts

Korel Laloix: But ruts are efficient.

Zen Arado: maybe I am in a rutless rut

Korel Laloix: And can be great tools to accomplish certain things when you know the direction well in advance.

Korel Laloix: The trick is so choose your ruts and let them work for you.. not he other way around.
Zen Arado: a viewpoint that shifts and changes
Zen Arado: then you suddenly notice how deep they are and you can't get out :)
Korel Laloix: For me to get through a semester, I have get into a good set of ruts.
Zen Arado: yeh need a disciplined path to accomplish things
Zen Arado: but that's not a rut?
Zen Arado: a rut is when you could change but are afraid to?
DR42 Resident: Discipline isn't a rut.
Zen Arado: no because you choose it
Zen Arado: and it is only for a purpose
Xirana Oximoxi: maybe the difference is that a 'rut' is not making you grow or achieve any improvement...
Korel Laloix: I chose my ruts....lol... is that being disciplined?... maybe.
Zen Arado: and difficult to stay in even
Korel Laloix: My ruts help me achieve.
Zen Arado: yes I think so
Korel Laloix: Sort of like an autopilot.
Zen Arado: of course
Zen Arado: but I see that as a disciplined path not a rut

Zen Arado: maybe perpetual study is a rut?
Korel Laloix: Maybe this is a linguistic issue again... smiles
Zen Arado: I always seem to need to be learning new things

Korel Laloix: Then I am way into that rut... lol
