Agatha Macbeth: 's current display-name is "Aggers".
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello QT
    Qt Core: Hi Agatha
    Agatha Macbeth: Hm, no Wollie
    Agatha Macbeth: Maybe oversleeping
Qt Core: maybe she had a wild night ;-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ha, could be
    --BELL--0115
Agatha Macbeth: I just checked, she hasn't emailed to say not coming
    Agatha Macbeth: How are you?
Qt Core: i want to share something i experienced a couple days ago and had to tweet::
Qt Core: Open windows instead of AC. You hear #bells... your #space suddenly grows from just your work desk to a few km wide... Then take a #breath
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Agatha Macbeth: I love hearing church bells
Qt Core: i live less than 100 meters from one
Agatha Macbeth: Wow, they must be loud then
Qt Core: well you get used to it, but i don't know how people live in the building less than 20 meters from them (luckily mostly offices)
Agatha Macbeth: You certainly would not oversleep on sunday that's for sure
Qt Core: if i remember it right, at least this church, plays its bells (for services and the clock) only from 7 to 24
    Agatha Macbeth: Nice
Agatha Macbeth: Are there many pigeons around there?
Qt Core: some, but not so many (no tourists here to feed them ;-) )
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Agatha Macbeth: I ask because all the churches I know seem to have pigeons :)
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe they are religious birds
Qt Core: nothing like Duomo's square in Milan ot San Marco in Venice :-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh right!
    --BELL--0130
Agatha Macbeth: The cathederal in Birmingham always make me think of S. Marco
Agatha Macbeth: But imagine if you were in a Moslem country and listening to a muezzin five times evry day :p
Qt Core: one of the saddest thing is when you hear "fake bells" from churches that had no money to have real bells, from afar you don't notice the difference but once nearby you do
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Agatha Macbeth: I always think that too
Qt Core: (some have to do that as the structure are damaged and bells were taken down)
Agatha Macbeth: They certainly make a lot of noise
Agatha Macbeth: And quite an effort to ring them too
Agatha Macbeth: You need to be strong
Agatha Macbeth: Actually it's quite an art because of the physics involved
Qt Core: ... just enough to push an on/off switch nowadays (or to program an alarm)
    Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
Agatha Macbeth loves the sound of the birds
Qt Core: on some sundays i can even hear the bells from other parishes calling for services, the bells' sound mixing together
Agatha Macbeth: That must be amazing
Qt Core: yes, that also meaning the world is quiet
Qt Core: ... at least in a 5-10 km radius
Agatha Macbeth: I remember there is a radio station here which always used to end its transmission with church bells, think it was Radio 3
Agatha Macbeth: Don't know if that still happens
Agatha Macbeth: No, Radio 4 that's it
    Agatha Macbeth: The BBC one
    --BELL--0145
Agatha Macbeth: It's the only station I know that still closes down at 1AM
Qt Core: here two of the three state run radios stops at 12:30/0100 and come back at around 6/6:30
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, nearly are are 24 hours now
    Agatha Macbeth: all*
Agatha Macbeth: Like TV (which I don't watch)
Qt Core: speaking about bird chirping and radios... italian radios used these sounds for synchronization (like when switching from national to regional programming): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LVAXEZJDr8
Agatha Macbeth: I do hope Wol is ok, unusual for her not to show up
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah, right
Qt Core: yes, better be a wild night sleepiness than being ill
Agatha Macbeth: That sounds like a rather old recording
Qt Core: yes, sometimes they used the registration from the first years of the state radio
Agatha Macbeth: Was that in Mussolini's time?
Qt Core: even before i think
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Qt Core: here (if Rai will make you see it from outside italy) the tweeting machine: http://www.rai.it/dl/portali/site/ar...2673d091e.html
Agatha Macbeth: I'm not sure when the BBC started, in the 20s I think
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww, that's cute
Agatha Macbeth: A bird on a microphone
Qt Core: no, you were right, it started in 1924 with a Mussolini speach
    --BELL--0200
Qt Core: it's funny as the wikipedia article about Rai says that rai is received even in bordering states like... San Marino and the Vatrican State (and others) :-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Agatha Macbeth: I think it would probably be in Switzerland and Austria too
Agatha Macbeth: Radio travels a long way :p
Qt Core: yes, and down to Malta too
    Agatha Macbeth: Wow, that far
Agatha Macbeth: I have actually heard Radio Moscow here on short wave!
Agatha Macbeth: Ok, for me it's shopping time
Qt Core: those travels half the world with no problems
    Agatha Macbeth: Indeed
Qt Core: and cooking time for me
Agatha Macbeth: Ah I can smell it from here :)
    Qt Core: :-) have fun
    Agatha Macbeth: Ciao QT
    Qt Core: ciao
Agatha Macbeth: Enjoy your lasagne :)
