You: that's great
You: my laptop does ok, not great, just ok
Fael Illyar: well, I got one that has a bit better specs than my desktop so that was kind of expected but :)
You: sure, makes sense if you're picking it out :)
Fael Illyar: yes, would've been cheaper to get one that can't run SL properly but ...
You: sometimes the ones issued for work are not as sl friendly :)
Fael Illyar: yes, sometimes not quite.
You: I notice the logger is running - is it writing to a file?
Fael Illyar: posting to a webserver
You: are we supposed to keep posting to the wiki ourselves or is it automated
Fael Illyar: not yet
Fael Illyar: and will continue the old way until we can be sure the automation works
You: ok, double checking :)
Fael Illyar: yes :)

An upcoming meeting ...

You: you will be in Princeton?
Fael Illyar: yes, that's why I got myself a laptop
Fael Illyar: the first one for me :)
You: got it
You: when do you arrive?
Fael Illyar: next sunday
You: oh, you'll be in town a while
Fael Illyar: 2 weeks
Fael Illyar: holiday of sorts ... although perhaps not quite in some ways :)
You: there may be fun things to do nearby the institute and likely you'll be in NY also
Fael Illyar: Yes, will take a look around :)
You: yes, there will be so much attention to being all in one place .... might be some type of "phenomena" occurring :)
Fael Illyar: who knows :)
You: I think the board will meet privately Friday then dinner with pab Friday night if I remember correctly
Fael Illyar: come to think of it, I need to refresh my memory on those :)

Valgaav Gartle: I daresay if I couldn't, something odd would be going on. are there often submeetings off of normal times?
You: we are recording the discussion, may we include your comments?
Valgaav Gartle: well yes, I agreed the first time I was here.

You: ok, we have not met before so I'm obliged to ask :)
Valgaav Gartle: I was told that the meetings were in the evening, at 4 and 10 then.
You: glad you have returned
You: the meetings are at 1 and 7 slt, 24/7
You: 4 times per day
Fael Illyar: ah, SL time is what works best for reference :)
Valgaav Gartle: Oh, bah. I'm only here for the meetings anyway, so I didn't particularly pay attention to said time.
Fael Illyar: but especially friendly guardian would attempt to tell you the times in your local time.
Valgaav Gartle: Or, you know, my sister, who got me into this mess in the first place. So what was the topic?
Fael Illyar: oh, we were discussing a guardian meeting due to take place in Princeton, 8 days from now.

Fael Illyar: sure, coming and going is free :)
You: we are here to discuss the 9sec practice, the meeting topic was logistics :)

Little babies, big babies ...

You: On being, I have recently been observing a baby, it's natural state of be
Fael Illyar: uh, the new electronics smell from this laptop is making me dizzy again...
You: ugh, it's funky isn't it?
Fael Illyar: yes ...
Fael Illyar: yes, babies are just Being. Any interesting observations?
You: it's very elemental, a learning state, cracking the language code, having very basic needs
You: it's interesting that the grace we are relearning to tap is the thing that babies are trained away from - they are constantly taught and actually seem to need structure
You: they are inserted into a complex situation with no tools, their grace is slowly obscured by all the ways they have to learn to function
Fael Illyar: some structure is necessary to be able to live but ...
Fael Illyar: they're taught way too much of that
You: if a parent or caregiver can consciously strike a balance that would be a very positive thing imo
You: I greatly enjoy the sort of "teaching moment"
Fael Illyar: it tends to be a common pattern to teach the child pretty much how to be like the parent.
You: in ways yes - it's also possible to empower them while doing the training
You: are you around kids?
Fael Illyar: yes, my half brother lives almost next door so I have some interactions with him.
You: he's very young?
Fael Illyar: he's somewhere around 5 years old IIRC
You: 5 is a great age - all the bodily functions are mastered, a time of great intellectual advances
Fael Illyar: yes :)

It's quiet for a while as Fael is busy so we call it a day ...
