The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza Madrigal.
Eliza Madrigal: Hola Kori
Korel Laloix: Heya Eliza.. how are you today?
Eliza Madrigal: doin' okay, how is your day?
Korel Laloix: Great so far.. dead bored at work.. getting some SL and online shopping done.
Korel Laloix: No one is here, so I got to order lunch on the company tab... lovely.
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: it seems a nice situation you have at work...
Eliza Madrigal: hope it is interesting for you sometimes
Korel Laloix: Very sometimes.
Korel Laloix: But I am loking for something that lines up with my degree though.
Eliza Madrigal nods, makes sense
Eliza Madrigal: must be great to feel so clear about what you want to do
Korel Laloix: I do feel a certain pull to do some things.
Korel Laloix: The down side though, is that I can not see haveing the same access to Sl at anew job as I do now.
Eliza Madrigal: so this level of access is 'for a time'
--BELL--
Korel Laloix: Well, I have been in this job for the most part of the last 9 years.
Eliza Madrigal: for me too... and suppose SL itself will become something else over time
Eliza Madrigal: 9 years.. nice
Korel Laloix: With two years or so off down in Florida.
Korel Laloix: But it has been solid for me.
Eliza Madrigal: Oh! meant to tell you that I visited the Dali museum on your recommendation...
Eliza Madrigal: was wonderful
Eliza Madrigal: was in Jacksonville for a concert with my kids... then shot down to St. Petersburg
Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
Alfred Kelberry: 4 lovely girls and... me :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xirana, Boxy
Korel Laloix: Did you happen to see a tall blond ammzaingly gorgous Russian woman about 28 years old working there?
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Eliza, Korel, boxy:)
Alfred Kelberry: kori, where?
Eliza Madrigal: you know... there WAS...
Korel Laloix: named ___?
[chose to edit name due to RL overlap, although when I read again the person I was thinking of is a bit older so possibly not the same person]
Eliza Madrigal: I didn't speak with her...
Eliza Madrigal: but did notice her
Korel Laloix: That was probably my ex ____.
Korel Laloix: wow.. some great and bad memories.
Eliza Madrigal: ah :) I wonder if I should edit the log...
Alfred Kelberry: wait, are you being stalked in sl again, kori?
Eliza Madrigal: I visited the Dali museum in FL at Kori's recommendation....
Korel Laloix: No... Eliza visited a museum where my ex volunteers.
Xirana Oximoxi: oh... here in SL?
Alfred Kelberry: ah, neat
Xirana Oximoxi: or RL Florida?
Alfred Kelberry: good to see you, bees! :)
Eliza Madrigal: in St. Petersburg FL, yes... quite a fantastically inviting place
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bees :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Bees
Korel Laloix: I soooo loved it there.
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, did you say hi from kori? :)
Eliza Madrigal: :) I didn't know about the gorgeous Russian girlfriend at the time
Bees Ballinger: Hi all..; sorry... i was busy...
Eliza Madrigal imagines... "hello, I am an avatar and I know another avatar who..."
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, but you did notice her :)
Korel Laloix: ____ is amazing... born in the USSR, moved to Cuba with her parents at the Soviet Embassy, then they managed to get to St Pete.
Alfred Kelberry: ____ is an odd name for a russian
Korel Laloix: Her nickname.
Alfred Kelberry: oh
Korel Laloix: It's a lesbian thing.
Eliza Madrigal: I really like so much of the west coast of Florida ... healing place ... vast views...
Korel Laloix: You have to have one... lol
Alfred Kelberry: kori, why?
Korel Laloix: Not sure.. why do I have about 70 plaid shirts?.... lol
Korel Laloix: (exageration)
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eliza Madrigal: "communication"
Alfred Kelberry: you say that it's common for lesbians to use nicknames?
Eliza Madrigal: if one knows what to listen for...
Korel Laloix: <--- reinforcing the stereotype one cliche at a time.
Eliza Madrigal laughs
Xirana Oximoxi: I'm lost :)
Alfred Kelberry: *hugs xiri*
Eliza Madrigal: well... a wedding ring is a symbol... signal
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe thank you:))
Korel Laloix: I smoked, have multiple peirecings, have a few Tegan and Sara albums, have a motorcyle, have a huge key chain, rainbow jewelry... lmbo
Eliza Madrigal: so people communicate in various ways...
Alfred Kelberry: ms woly :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Wol :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Wol:)
Wol Euler: evening all
Bees Ballinger: hi
Eliza Madrigal: in RL we don't have tags and profiles quite as visible
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: kori, a typical lesbian :)
Eliza Madrigal: but I don't get the nickname thing ether :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi San
Korel Laloix: Just a trend sorry... smiles
Wol Euler: hello san
Santoshima Resident: hello
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hi San :)
Korel Laloix: I don't have and dream catchers though... too cliche even for me.
Eliza Madrigal: we were going to do dream catchers at some point for dream workshop... so, um, that means something else? :)
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, perhaps a role play thing. a butch girl named jennifer may ruin the game :)
Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho4lnZAOjyU
--BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: princess leia :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: i must protect you from the evil forces
Wol Euler: awwwww
Eliza Madrigal: gun strapped to back is quite a signal...
Wol Euler nods.
Alfred Kelberry: any new pool projects, woly? :)
Wol Euler: no pool, lost the competiton
Alfred Kelberry: aww
Wol Euler shrugs and smiles
Xirana Oximoxi: ohh! :(
Alfred Kelberry: why?
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Aga:)
Alfred Kelberry: where did you come short?
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Agatha :)
Eliza Madrigal: sorry to hear that Wol
Wol Euler: hello aggers
Eliza Madrigal: what would you LOVE to build?
Eliza Madrigal: er...design..
Wol Euler: well, it wasn't a great project, having seen the others we didn't deserve to win
Wol Euler: we got too hung up on the specificity of the brief, didn't dare enough
Alfred Kelberry: aga girl :)
Alfred Kelberry: woly, in design sense? too traditional?
Agatha Macbeth: So no swimming for you then
Wol Euler: too messy
Alfred Kelberry: how?
Wol Euler shrugs. I doubt if the entire group wants to hear this
Wol Euler: let#s go to IM
Alfred Kelberry: ok :)
Agatha Macbeth: I do
Santoshima Resident: i do
Xirana Oximoxi: I do :))
Agatha Macbeth: Snap
Wol Euler: wow
Wol Euler: hehehehhe
Eliza Madrigal: am interested... and also asked a question...
Wol Euler: all right then
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe...
Wol Euler: sorry, looking back for your question
Eliza Madrigal: its fine but we're all riveted
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth: How long is a piece of string?
Alfred Kelberry: eliza asked what would you *love* to build
Wol Euler: oh, what I would love to build? hmmmmmmmm. An opera house :)
Alfred Kelberry: i'm curious about the significance of "daring"
Wol Euler: well, what I mean is that we followed the brief too closely
Eliza Madrigal: ah, surprising answer that now seems obvious :D
Alfred Kelberry: woly, tough one - all the acoustic calculations :)
Eliza Madrigal: ty
Wol Euler: we ended up with one of the smallest buildings, very compact, therefore cheap to build and maintain (relatively)
Agatha Macbeth: Don't germans like that kind of thing?
Wol Euler: but the plans were unclear, hard to understand
Alfred Kelberry: woly, why is small = messy?
Wol Euler: the other teams made *much* larger projets, and used the extra space to line things up better
Agatha Macbeth: Messi is small
Wol Euler: wide corridors, like matching like, easy to understand groupings of rooms
Wol Euler: smaller is messy because smaller means things fitted tightly together
Wol Euler: we had one corridor with four functions of rooms on it
Wol Euler: they had four corridors with one function only on each
Wol Euler: easy to understand
Alfred Kelberry: ah... tight. yes.
Agatha Macbeth: Tight is good
Wol Euler: we should have been more free with the project. We lost sight of the building as a whole, of the way the users would navigate it
Wol Euler: concentrated too much on the rooms as "objects"
Wol Euler shrugs
Alfred Kelberry: i think in software terms where small = simple = easy to handle :)
Xirana Oximoxi: wb San :)
Alfred Kelberry: but space dimension adds its corrections
Alfred Kelberry: thank you, woly
Alfred Kelberry: also, agreed with your comment, aga :)
Agatha Macbeth: Which one?
Alfred Kelberry: tightness
Agatha Macbeth: Ahh yes
Alfred Kelberry: *notes aga's bum*
Agatha Macbeth: It's always there...
Alfred Kelberry: indeed
Alfred Kelberry: well positioned
Agatha Macbeth: Positioned where it should be I think :p
Santoshima Resident: grew it herself
Wol Euler: um, what were we discussing before the pool and Aggers' bum? I feel pretty sure there was a real topic before that
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Yep
Alfred Kelberry: tall russian blonds
Xirana Oximoxi: I am not so sure :))
Eliza Madrigal laughs
Wol Euler: I don*'t think so
Agatha Macbeth: La sakura?
Alfred Kelberry: eliza ;)
Eliza Madrigal: ah :) no... but would love to hear impressions
--BELL--
Korel Laloix: you forgot extreamly gorgous.
Xirana Oximoxi: I've visited the new place Eliza!!! wonderful!
Alfred Kelberry: kori: ah, yes. thank you :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I hope I can also come to the party opening:)
Alfred Kelberry: i liked the place. can't wait for the grand opening.
Agatha Macbeth: I really like it, but am curious to know what will happen there
Eliza Madrigal: me too Xirana... Storm included many nice touches
Xirana Oximoxi: well... I have not discovered the secrets :)
Eliza Madrigal: well in coming weeks there will be discussions if people would like to take part, about particular topics...
Eliza Madrigal: but it is hoped that everyone willl feel welcome to just enjoy the place
Agatha Macbeth: Aha
Alfred Kelberry: aga, same here. i think we will find out on saturday :)
Agatha Macbeth: A kind of PaB sideshow then?
Alfred Kelberry: while composing the poem, i dubbed it "the mingle center" :)
Eliza Madrigal: not PaB... though there are so many overlaps
Agatha Macbeth: Right
Eliza Madrigal: such a nice poem Boxy ... warm and surprising
Alfred Kelberry: thank you :)
Agatha Macbeth: We shall see what we shall see no doubt
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... discovering new habilities of our boxy:... now it's boxy poet :))
Eliza Madrigal: :) Kiremimi will welcome everyone and talk a bit about the place... but mostly we'll just dance and party :P
Xirana Oximoxi: nice:)
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Wol Euler smiles.
Agatha Macbeth: Hope the party goes on a while so I can get there
Eliza Madrigal: will try to stretch it out....
Eliza Madrigal: have to nudge Zen to keep the music going
Agatha Macbeth: Yay
Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Agatha Macbeth: DJ Zen is in da house
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, do you know anything of kire's research in la sakura?
Eliza Madrigal: yes... I assist Kiremimi with various things...
Alfred Kelberry: can you tell more about it?
Agatha Macbeth: What kind of research is this?
Eliza Madrigal: since it is her project I prefer for her to talk about it, but she is a sociologist and has been studying virtual worlds and civility for a few years
Agatha Macbeth: Ah interesting
Korel Laloix: Take care all..
Wol Euler: bye korel, take care
Xirana Oximoxi: yes, sounds interesting:9
Agatha Macbeth: Bye K, have fun
Eliza Madrigal: there is a note at the site... let me see if I have it in inventory... that tells a bit more of her vision and background
Xirana Oximoxi: bye Korel
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Kori :)
Korel Laloix: Ciao
Xirana Oximoxi: take care
Agatha Macbeth: That would be good
Agatha Macbeth: Thx Liz
Eliza Madrigal: that gives her RL info and writing background
Agatha Macbeth: Mm, I like the sound of that
Eliza Madrigal: she has a lovely 'view' I feel... networks and civility and aesthetics...
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, the note doesn't mention what the research is about. i think it would be nice to have, given that la sakura is created for it.
Agatha Macbeth: It's an interesting combination certainly
Eliza Madrigal: and her history is of writing about these things
Agatha Macbeth: You heard Liz Alf, Kire will tell us :p
Eliza Madrigal: yes well, that's for her to describe... and she's really happy to answer questions
Wol Euler nods.
Alfred Kelberry: yes, i know. i just think it's important to have on the notecard for visitors.
Agatha Macbeth grins
Agatha Macbeth pokes Boxy in the ear
Eliza Madrigal: well her RL background gives a window into how she is looking at SL :)
Eliza Madrigal: and her previous book
Wol Euler nods.
Santoshima Resident: nodding nodding
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, how would a random visitor know about it? :)
Wol Euler: boxy, eliza has said several times that it is Kire's project not hers, and that Kire should talk about it
Santoshima Resident: they would need to meet her and find out
Agatha Macbeth: I certainly can't imagine Pema would marry someone who isn't interesting :p
Eliza Madrigal: the note I gave you has the name of her book in it alfred
Wol Euler: well, there is that! heheheh
Eliza Madrigal: did you look?
Eliza Madrigal: :)
--BELL--
Xirana Oximoxi: I go now....have nice time/dreams all :) See you soon!
Wol Euler: bye xir, take care
Santoshima Resident: ciao
Wol Euler: paint well
Eliza Madrigal waves Xiri, nice to see you
Agatha Macbeth: Adios Xira
Agatha Macbeth: Hasta porno
Xirana Oximoxi: hasta printo:)
Xirana Oximoxi: pronto*
Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: :)))
Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, what i'm saying is that it would be nice to have a short concise description of her research in the card
Eliza Madrigal: ah, be sure to let her know Boxy :)
Alfred Kelberry: i will :)
Agatha Macbeth: Cute shoes Liz btw
Eliza Madrigal: ty :)
Santoshima Resident: bye ~
Wol Euler: ooh yes :) pretty
Alfred Kelberry: it's really exciting
Wol Euler: bye san, take care!
Agatha Macbeth: Bye San
Eliza Madrigal: bye San
Alfred Kelberry: btw, woly... maybe it could be the right venue for your identity workshop? :)
Wol Euler: yes :) I thought of that
Agatha Macbeth: Ooh yess
Alfred Kelberry: yay!
Wol Euler: I'd love to do it
Agatha Macbeth: At last
Alfred Kelberry: hope you have time this year
Wol Euler: but it's not my forum. I will ask/ suggest
Eliza Madrigal: I'd love that... it is just important to know that conversations there would be under the research umbrella
Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: but maybe not just...
Eliza Madrigal: I suppose there is room, just don't know
Eliza Madrigal: we're beginning :)
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: I'll talk to her about it
Alfred Kelberry: there... research again :)
Agatha Macbeth: The longest journey starts with one step and all that...
Alfred Kelberry: *pats eliza's arm*
Agatha Macbeth: Now you're surrounded Alf
Alfred Kelberry: with beauty
Wol Euler smiles.
Alfred Kelberry: and wit
Eliza Madrigal: trying to disarm you
Agatha Macbeth: This is true
Wol Euler: and nosepokes
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, does this little gun disturb you? :)
Wol Euler: (brb, tea)
Agatha Macbeth: Make me one pls :p
Eliza Madrigal: am not a huge fan of weapons... though, some shoes qualify
Agatha Macbeth: Ha
Agatha Macbeth: Ointy heels?
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, me neither
Agatha Macbeth: Or pointy even
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: banana gun is okay...
Eliza Madrigal: lemming shooter even...
Agatha Macbeth: The LOL gun
Eliza Madrigal: yeah :D
Agatha Macbeth: Yaku's frogs
Alfred Kelberry: interesting how it can induce violent thoughts and assumptions though :)
Wol Euler returns bearing many cups of milky tea
Agatha Macbeth: Ahh ty ♥
Eliza Madrigal: nearly everything I do in life I do from some intention for there to be less aggression in my own life and in the wider world... or that's what I think my motives are generally
Wol Euler: well, guns are traditionally used for violence
Wol Euler: not many people plant flowers with them, or paint the house with them
Alfred Kelberry: here you go, aga :)
Eliza Madrigal: am trying to empty my own storehouses of grenades and uzis...
Agatha Macbeth: Thanks Alf, I'll use it to shoot noobs with
Eliza Madrigal: lol
Alfred Kelberry: i only use it for research :)
Eliza Madrigal: :P
Alfred Kelberry: it's not even loaded
Agatha Macbeth: That teapot in the village was the best thing about your old place Liz :)
Eliza Madrigal: aw... one is up in the retreat center...
Eliza Madrigal: the cha set, Sunshine gave me, is like at zen retreat
Agatha Macbeth smiles
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, sorry, i missed your comment. those are good motives :)
Alfred Kelberry: that's why you're the soul of pab. keeping things nicely rounded and friendly :)
Wol Euler: agreed
Agatha Macbeth: Absolutely
Eliza Madrigal: I cause as much trouble as I solve I think , so maybe we're even
Eliza Madrigal: :P
Wol Euler: nah
Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Alfred Kelberry: a balanced life :)
Agatha Macbeth: It evens itself out
Eliza Madrigal: each in his time plays many parts....
Alfred Kelberry: i asked last meeting how people handle their anger. i'd like to ask you, woly. how do you lessen its destructive effect when it already hit you?
Eliza Madrigal listens
Wol Euler: well, first off I have to say that it doesn't always work :) It does still get away from me, sometimes
Alfred Kelberry: :)
--BELL--
Wol Euler: my system is to clamp my mouth firmly shut and listen
Agatha Macbeth: Getting older helps too
Alfred Kelberry: aga, damn. that's not very efficient :)
Agatha Macbeth: Works tho
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: woly, do you think it's "time" generally?
Agatha Macbeth: Time is waiting in the wings
Alfred Kelberry: let anger settle in
Wol Euler: listen to what is really being said, not what I think they mean
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, that always helps
Wol Euler: I've learned that answering what they say, and ignoring how they say it, can defuse many situations
Wol Euler: even ones that sounded quite hostile
Eliza Madrigal: but don't people often say &^%$#^ when they mean "please hug me" ?
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Wol Euler: I pretend that they were speaking happily and friendly-like, and respond in that way
Wol Euler: usually it defuses things right away
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Agatha Macbeth: As long as they don't do it the other way round...
Alfred Kelberry: woly, good one
Eliza Madrigal: nice, yes
Wol Euler: they very often say &^%$#^ when they mean "you aren't listening to me"!
Agatha Macbeth: Also true
Wol Euler: many people just want to be heard.
Agatha Macbeth: Whether they're talking sense is another matter of course
Wol Euler: many people go through life being shortchanged. "Too busy to listen to you"
Wol Euler: yes of course :)
Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
Eliza Madrigal: yes... the busy thing...
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Agatha Macbeth: Business = busy-ness
Eliza Madrigal: inner busyness too
Agatha Macbeth: Mmm
Wol Euler: exßecially that
Wol Euler: *especially
Agatha Macbeth: Yeß
Wol Euler: :-P
Alfred Kelberry: ё!
Eliza Madrigal: said last night in session that I don't think I'm a better listener from being in pab.. but that I know that now, whereas before I think I thought I was
Wol Euler: °
Agatha Macbeth: ♥
Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: a valuable lesson :)
Wol Euler: and yes Aggers, reading back, getting older has a lot to do with getting calmer
Agatha Macbeth: One of the benefits :)
Agatha Macbeth: On the downside, your body starts falling apart
Eliza Madrigal: why age? perspective? wider frame?
Wol Euler: perspective, aye
Agatha Macbeth: Just wear and tear I guess
Wol Euler: kids think htey are the centre of the universe
Wol Euler: adults learn that they are not even *near* the centre :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth wonders where the centre is
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Alfred Kelberry: woly, i think kids are just less restricted by social order
Wol Euler: amounts to the same thing :)
Wol Euler: kids don't really know that other people are people
Eliza Madrigal: seems to me about what seems worth going to battle over
Wol Euler: they see others as entertainers
Wol Euler: not as individuals
Alfred Kelberry: i'd say they think that the universe is open for them. not that they're the center of it.
Eliza Madrigal: each time I get angry it takes a toll on me physically.. can feel that.... kids can run right through that
Wol Euler: well, I disagree but we can just smile and leave it at that
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: that too, actually
Wol Euler: I don't like being the person who is angry
Eliza Madrigal nods
Agatha Macbeth: Me either
Alfred Kelberry: woly, yes... it's icky
Wol Euler: like I *really* don'T like the person who drank alcohol X hours ago and is now coming down off it and detoxing
Alfred Kelberry: being angry is losing control
Wol Euler: having learned to detect that feeling, I can't not feel it - and I hate it
Wol Euler: yes
Eliza Madrigal: there are times when I'd like to get angrier than I do
Alfred Kelberry: let it go, eliza :)
Wol Euler: why?
Wol Euler: in which situations?
Eliza Madrigal: well some I know who are decisive about things have an ability to point at a target and shoot
Agatha Macbeth: I like you the way you are Liz
Eliza Madrigal: and not regret/doubt/weigh all the sides
Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes just would like to just 'decide' 'do' 'done'
Eliza Madrigal: :::chips fall:::
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, wait. isn't it what pab is about? act in the now? :)
Agatha Macbeth: Egad, the dog is right!
Eliza Madrigal: spontaneity... yes... but also appropriateness that does no harm...
Wol Euler: yes
Wol Euler: spontaneously beating somebody up is not a good act
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Agatha Macbeth: Or even planning to
Alfred Kelberry: yes, need balance
Eliza Madrigal: also, if one doesn't learn from something and just 'makes it stop' then they often repeat themselves
Agatha Macbeth: Serial offender
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: just seeing your line Agatha ((((((((ty)))))))) [bell or no bell] :D
Agatha Macbeth smiles
Agatha Macbeth: Cute shorts too...
Eliza Madrigal: hehe, ty
Wol Euler chuckles.
Alfred Kelberry: i think eliza is aware enough to act with no harm. so i say be "decide", "do" and "done" :)
Eliza Madrigal: these are "happy" shorts
Wol Euler: ah :)
Agatha Macbeth waves to Liz's shorts
Alfred Kelberry: happy belly too :)
Agatha Macbeth: I love a happy belly
Eliza Madrigal: :) Boxy... it sounds like I'm fishing for validation maybe but really, in my life I've made very small decisions that turned out to be snowballs of incredible proportion
Agatha Macbeth: Oww
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: ouch :)
Eliza Madrigal: most can say the same perhaps
Alfred Kelberry: well, it brings us to a difficult question. where do you draw the line for your harm-meter?
Agatha Macbeth: Well if you're going to make a mistake make it a big one eh
Eliza Madrigal: THAT is the hard question Boxy
Eliza Madrigal: *the* hard question
Eliza Madrigal: hah Agatha
Eliza Madrigal wonders if Agatha is the 'at ease' person in RL too
Wol Euler: I think most people think their decisions are smaller than they appear to others
Agatha Macbeth: Again, getting older helps :p
Wol Euler: some people think me a big decision-maker because I left Canada for London, and then London for Germany
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: if you are too careful, you may miss out on opportunities and make yourself a hostage of societal expectation. if not too careful, you may end up labeled as an offender :)
Eliza Madrigal: ah, can see that Wol... big jumps
Wol Euler: but both times, that was just the path of least resistance, taking an opportunity somebody else laid out for me
Alfred Kelberry: woly, serendipity :)
Agatha Macbeth: Could still have been a risk tho
Eliza Madrigal: :) wow can I quote you Boxy? sounding quite fuzzy...
Alfred Kelberry: quote me?
Wol Euler: In retrospect going to London was too small a step. I should have gone to Moscow or to Cape Town or Sydney
Agatha Macbeth: Better weather in two of them anyway
Eliza Madrigal giggles ... chalking up big decisions to serendipidy, Boxy
Eliza Madrigal: ah, looking for opera houses :)
Agatha Macbeth: Eucatastrophe
Wol Euler: exactly
Agatha Macbeth: (or is that a y on the end?)
Wol Euler: -e is the greek ending :)
Eliza Madrigal googles
Alfred Kelberry: aga, i dare to say better weather in all 3 of them :)
Agatha Macbeth: Geek ending?
Wol Euler: no, I'm wrong, -e is right
Wol Euler: hah
Agatha Macbeth: Not in winter!
Alfred Kelberry: aga, especially in winter :P
Agatha Macbeth: I really don't think even I would fancy Moscow in January/Frbruary
Eliza Madrigal: I still live near where I was raised :P
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, very european :)
Eliza Madrigal: haha
Alfred Kelberry: aga, give it a try ;)
Agatha Macbeth: June/July perhaps
Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: russian meet up?
Wol Euler: I'd love it
Alfred Kelberry: aga, i'll get you the right set of clothes and you'll be fine :)
Wol Euler: midwinter reterat
Wol Euler: retreat
Wol Euler: either Moscow or Fargo ND
Alfred Kelberry: interesting alternative :)
Agatha Macbeth: Where's Fargo ND?
Wol Euler: do you know the film "Fargo" by the Coen Brothers?
Agatha Macbeth: Nope
Alfred Kelberry: no
Wol Euler: North Dakota, upper middle US
Wol Euler: flatland, very very cold
Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Wol Euler: and snowy
Alfred Kelberry: oh
Agatha Macbeth: Cornflakes
Wol Euler: let me strongly recommend that film to you!
Agatha Macbeth: Ok
Wol Euler: one of my favourites
Alfred Kelberry: north dakota sounds wonderfully adventurous :)
Alfred Kelberry: i'd love to visit northen canada one day
Agatha Macbeth: You could build an igloo
Alfred Kelberry: yep
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: that can be arranged
Eliza Madrigal: igloo building?
Agatha Macbeth: And fish through a hole in the ice
Alfred Kelberry: no fishing, thank you
Wol Euler: oh you must fish
Wol Euler: ice fishing is an essential part of the experience
Eliza Madrigal: you can shoot us dinner boxy... lol....
Agatha Macbeth: Moose and chips yum
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Wol Euler: heheh
Wol Euler: "the meat thermometer doesn't have a Roast Moose setting!"
Alfred Kelberry: haven't shot a gun in a long time
Wol Euler: overheard in a Canadian kitchen :) true story
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth grins
Eliza Madrigal: aw.... reading Raffi is canceling for Thurs...
Agatha Macbeth: There's a moose loose in the hoose
Agatha Macbeth: Oh
Alfred Kelberry: oh bummer!
Agatha Macbeth: Pants
Alfred Kelberry: aga, not trousers?
Wol Euler: man, I really need to read e-mail more often
--BELL--
Agatha Macbeth: Is that in the emails?
Agatha Macbeth: Snap
Eliza Madrigal: can understand, she is quite deliberate in the things she does... yes, emails
Agatha Macbeth: I won't look now cos i'll probably crash
Alfred Kelberry: aga, stay put. we'll tell you :)
Agatha Macbeth: Thanks :)
Wol Euler: "I just don’t think that this experience would be something they’d genuinely enjoy, learn from or appreciate."
Wol Euler: interesting statement
Eliza Madrigal: have a note card, if you are able to open that Agatha?
Agatha Macbeth: Pls
Agatha Macbeth: TY
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not sure I understand but I guess she is going by her own sense of receptivity
Agatha Macbeth: Oh well, what a shame
Eliza Madrigal nods
Wol Euler: well, that's a pity (the cancellation)
Eliza Madrigal: general culture.... suppose there is this feeling from a few angles alfred, you've sort of mentioned 'pab in general' a few times too.... maybe I'm too close to see it
Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: I wonder if there's a PaB culture all of its own?
Wol Euler grins.
Agatha Macbeth: He nose you know
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth: 'My dog has no nose'
Wol Euler: how does he smell?
Agatha Macbeth: Terrible
Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
Wol Euler: ah, the old ones are the best.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth: And that IS old
Wol Euler laughs.
Alfred Kelberry: sorry, been afk. reading backlog...
Agatha Macbeth: Well, Xiana said bye...
Eliza Madrigal: hehhe
Agatha Macbeth: +r
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, i did not understand your comment :) pab culture?
Eliza Madrigal: last day of 99 days today, too
Eliza Madrigal: ah, Raffi's email
Wol Euler sighs sadly
Eliza Madrigal: mentioned "pab culture"
Eliza Madrigal: and or general culture...
Alfred Kelberry: oh, let me read it...
Eliza Madrigal: Wol you gave that to everyone and some of us kept going... no reason to be sad :)
Agatha Macbeth smiles
Eliza Madrigal: (re 99)
Wol Euler: I regret that I was too lazy and weak-willed to stick with it :(
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe it's the thoight that counts
Eliza Madrigal: it happened as it happened
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: yeah, I know that, but still ...
Wol Euler: "let go"
Eliza Madrigal: Zon says "guilt is a sin"
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Wol Euler smiles.
Agatha Macbeth: He's starting to sound like a catholic
