This morning Riddle Sideways was GoC and provides some comments on the session.
Actually, I will come back to commenting, must run now.
Adelene Dawner: Hi Corvi :D
Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Faenik: indeed?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hi
Gaya Ethaniel: how are you Corvi?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Very well, and you?
Gaya Ethaniel smiles. well ty
Faenik: could be
Adelene Dawner: Hey, Corvi. What we were talking about yesterday morning? You were right... if that's not passion, nothing is.
Gaya Ethaniel read the log also
Adelene Dawner: And reality's doing the syncronicity thing again :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire grins widely...tell me more?!
Adelene Dawner: http://www.overcomingbias.com/2008/0...ing-to-pr.html
Gaya Ethaniel opens the webpage
Adelene Dawner: and then http://aspietalk.wordpress.com/2008/...g-thru-cracks/ with a reminder of how I *do* take that kind of thing as a kick in the gut.
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.
Riddle Sideways: good morning
Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Adelene Dawner should have waited for Adams and Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: sorry I am so late
Riddle Sideways: SL innsisted on downloading new version
Corvuscorva Nightfire tilts her head...reading the pages and watching the chat too.
Riddle Sideways: then I tried to walk before I was fully born into this world
Adams Rubble: Hello Everyone. Yes I had that problem this morning Riddle
Gaya Ethaniel: (got some rest Adams?)
Adams Rubble: A little, thanks
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adams Rubble was wandering around PaB at 4:00 in the morning looking for friends
Riddle Sideways: did you find many?
Adams Rubble: Oh yes :)
Faenik: could be
Riddle Sideways: brb, RL says the cat door is not open yet
Gaya Ethaniel: ok Riddle
Gaya Ethaniel continues to read the webpage
Riddle Sideways: back
Gaya Ethaniel: wb
Riddle Sideways: there is so much PaB wiki too read
Adelene Dawner: [7:03] Riddle Sideways: Hey, Corvi. What we were talking about yesterday morning? You were right... if that's not passion, nothing is. [7:03] Gaya Ethaniel read the log also [7:03] Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles. [7:03] Riddle Sideways: And reality's doing the syncronicity thing again :) [7:04] Corvuscorva Nightfire grins widely...tell me more?! [7:05] Riddle Sideways: http://www.overcomingbias.com/2008/0...ing-to-pr.html [7:05] Gaya Ethaniel opens the webpage [7:05] Riddle Sideways: and then http://aspietalk.wordpress.com/2008/...g-thru-cracks/ with a reminder of how I *do* take that kind of thing as a kick in the gut.
Riddle Sideways: Hi, Albertus
Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Adams Rubble: Hello Albertus
Albertus Urvilan: Good morning all
Gaya Ethaniel: I have a question for you Adele in relation to this article. what/who do you live for?
Adelene Dawner: I don't have a good answer to that question when it's worded like that.
Gaya Ethaniel: why do you live? how about this one?
Gaya Ethaniel: how do you value your life/existence?
Gaya Ethaniel: 'value'*
Adelene Dawner: But the only thing I've found that it seems natural to devote my life to, to do inconvenient things for, is ... *finding words*
Gaya Ethaniel smiles. sure take your time
Faenik: ????^^
Adelene Dawner: The world is a very unfair place to some people, simply because of *what* they are, not who they are or what they've chosen to do with their lives. I have a problem with that. I'd like to make it better. Fix it entirely, ideally.
Gaya Ethaniel: so... you have a purpse?
Gaya Ethaniel: purpose*
Adelene Dawner: Apparently. ;)
Gaya Ethaniel: ah ok
Albertus Urvilan: It goes to how majorities view minorities ... what is "usual" is seen as "normal" and thus better. Everyone loves to feel they are part of the winning team.
Adelene Dawner: Nobody wins, if you divide humanity into 'teams'.
Adams Rubble: yes!
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods vigorously to that.
Gaya Ethaniel doesn't seem to have any particular purpose in her life. Live for herself and something to do with herself... that stopped her from abandoning her life each time
Albertus Urvilan: I'm afraid it's a natural part of our social nature. Question is how to work with that energy of inclusion and exclusion.
Adelene Dawner: You may've missed the beginning of this particular thought-thread, Gaya. I thought that too, at first. When we're talking about 'purpose', I actually don't automatically think of this.
Gaya Ethaniel: one is on the edge of the cliff, all purposes one has just go out of the window in my experience... does one need a purpose in life to live?
Adams Rubble: It is enought to just be alive
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Albertus Urvilan: Victor Frank lives in the concentration camp, with one purpose: I must live, so that I can tell the story of what happened here. Have you read his books
Adams Rubble: Which does not mean I do not have great respect for what Adelene is saying
Gaya Ethaniel: same here
Gaya Ethaniel: I'm afraid not but I admire such openness to share one's life Albertus
Adelene Dawner: I'm not really sure that conflicts, Adams and Gaya, with what I'm saying.
Riddle Sideways: and yet on the most basic level it IS enough to live
Adelene Dawner: 'enough to live' - what is it to live?
Adams Rubble: No it doesn't Adelene
Gaya Ethaniel: they don't conflict... it's more about priority of 'things' for me
Albertus Urvilan: Check out his book "Man's Search for Meaning." HIGHLY recommended.
Riddle Sideways: TY
Adelene Dawner is unfortunately going to have to leave early, in about 5 minutes...
Gaya Ethaniel: first live... then perhaps find a useful things to do... something like that
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I am interested in how these two pieces fit in with your thinking, Adelene?
Adelene Dawner: Answering Gaya's question also answers yours, Corvus.
Adelene Dawner: Did you read the first bit of that Overcoming Bias article?
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Albertus Urvilan: Do you have a copy?
Adelene Dawner: http://www.overcomingbias.com/2008/0...ing-to-pr.html
Albertus Urvilan: Thanks
Faenik: ????^^
Adelene Dawner: That's the concept, kind of. He talks about whether having a superpower leads to finding a cause, or whether, realistically, finding a cause leads to gaining a superpower... *life* is a superpower.
Gaya Ethaniel: perhaps you see 'minorities' as part of you Adele? and hence protecting them as protecting yourself
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods to that, too...Life is a superpower.
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adelene Dawner: Well, yes, Gaya - but this is bigger than just-me, my self, otherwise, well, I'm safe and comfortable, so why worry?
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Gaya Ethaniel: just to clear up... what I meant was if I don't live for myself first and foremost, I cannot 'help' others or live for a purpose
Adelene Dawner: Yes, you do have to take care of your self's needs, but even that's a means to an end.
Adelene Dawner: And, I need to go. I'll hopefully be back before the end of the meeting. :)
Gaya Ethaniel: see you soon Adele
Riddle Sideways: see you soon
Gaya Ethaniel: If I don't see 'value' of my life, I can't appreciate others to help
Albertus Urvilan: Must away .... thanks for letting me "dip in" and for the discussion
Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye, Adelene
Gaya Ethaniel: it's not really being selfish imo
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Bye, Albertus
Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Riddle Sideways: bye Albertus
Corvuscorva Nightfire: no...it's not being selfish at all.
PaB Listener Master: Removing "remove?" from list.
Adams Rubble: Soprry I was away for a bit
Corvuscorva Nightfire: It is taking care of the machine so it will function correctly.
Gaya Ethaniel: np Adams
Corvuscorva Nightfire: how can you minister if you are ill?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: not nearly as well as if you are taken care of.
Gaya Ethaniel ponders what Adele meant by 'you do have to take care of your self's needs, but even that's a means to an end.'
Corvuscorva Nightfire: how can you grow without water?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and what does the world lose if you don't?
Adams Rubble: There are so many varying opionions on what we do about the world once we find our own way. Such a contrast ihn thought
Corvuscorva Nightfire shakes her head.
Adams Rubble: I am wondering about that myself right now
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I'm not sure they are contrasting.
Riddle Sideways: no, seems not in contrast
Adams Rubble: Some thought seems to be that the world will go on no matter what we do
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Adams Rubble: I have a hard time accepting that
Riddle Sideways: but in what shape will it go on
Faenik: ah :)
Adams Rubble: yes Riddle
Riddle Sideways: means to an end, is a very loaded phrase
Gaya Ethaniel: what does being altruism really mean? how far one has to go to become altruistic?
Gaya Ethaniel: is being altruistic a good thing?
Adams Rubble: Maybe Being has to guide us
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Altruism is selfless concern for the welfare of others. It is a traditional virtue in many cultures, and central to many religious traditions.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: wikipedia
Gaya Ethaniel: what's the difference between compassion and altruism?
Adams Rubble: I think compasion flows naturally when we connect with Being
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Compassion is a profound human emotion prompted by the pain of others. More vigorous than empathy, the feeling commonly gives rise to an active desire to alleviate another's suffering. It is often, though not inevitably, the key component in what manifests in the social context as altruism.
Adams Rubble hopes so
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Wikipedia
Riddle Sideways: yet... both have a lot of "me, me" in them. Sometimes there is what "I" did for the country
Adams Rubble: That is if it does not flow from Being Riddle
Riddle Sideways: yes
Gaya Ethaniel: why do I feel that altruism has more 'intention' than compassion?
Gaya Ethaniel: kind of 'goal' or 'end result' one strives for
Adams Rubble: When someone sees someone about to jump off a bridge and risks his/her own life to try to save that person...I think that is altruism
Gaya Ethaniel: what does a compassion person would do in that situation?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: hmmm both seem to be feelings...not behaviors.
Riddle Sideways: compassion seems not to mean action of any kind
Faenik: could be
Adams Rubble: hmm. I think that is correct Rifddle
Gaya Ethaniel nods. yes more about awareness and acceptance
Riddle Sideways: Altruistic seems to have a "giving" built in
Adams Rubble: I think altruism can exist without compassion
Gaya Ethaniel: yes that's the danger I often see in some autruistic ppl
Corvuscorva Nightfire: aha!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Yes
Corvuscorva Nightfire: selfless but not necessarily "aware" or giving what theh other truly needs or wants.
Gaya Ethaniel: (don't mean Adele at all here) not just for others that the altruistic purposes are directed at but also towards themselves
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Adams Rubble: Yes Corvi
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I think Adele is looking at something else entirely.
Adams Rubble: and often Gaya although my example is no ways selfish
Gaya Ethaniel: I agree Corvi but that sentence Adele typed before leaving puzzles me though... 'means to an end'
Gaya Ethaniel: your example is selfless <smile>
Gaya Ethaniel: sounds as if 'taking care of my needs/life' is somewhat less than other things such as a 'purpose'
Corvuscorva Nightfire: it will be interesting to see hwat she means..but there were two conversations...Adele's search and Gayas.
Gaya Ethaniel nods. will wait for Adele to come back for sure
Gaya Ethaniel: Was I searching Corvi?
Adams Rubble: I think that when we discover who we truly are then much of the rest will make much less difference
Adams Rubble: Then we can enjoy just being alive
Gaya Ethaniel: mm... what is 'much of the rest' Adams?
Corvuscorva Nightfire shrugs...I thought so, perhaps I misunderstood...but I remembered your statements about paying attention to yourself from yesterday...
Adams Rubble: The world, Gaya
Gaya Ethaniel smiles. yes true Corvi
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and Adele's about looking for her place in the flow.
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Gaya Ethaniel: oh I see Adams
Adams Rubble: Not what is happening in the world but how the world affects us
Adams Rubble: individually
Gaya Ethaniel nods and ponders...
Adams Rubble has alot of work to do to reach that point
Riddle Sideways: agreed
Gaya Ethaniel: I do not, at all, know how to be a member of the human race anymore. part of me wants to, but another part of me is so incredibly tired of caring. from the second link
Faenik: why not?
Gaya Ethaniel: This kind of strong feelings of separation...
Riddle Sideways: in my 20s I cared, tried and did tooo much
Adams Rubble: Gaya, I think you have been a wonderful member of the human race
Gaya Ethaniel: I used to be a real outsider so I do understand this kind of desolate feelings but they weren't helping myself much
Riddle Sideways: now I have sent my children to do the same
Gaya Ethaniel blushes... ty Adams
Adams Rubble: hehe Riddle
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Gaya Ethaniel: (btw, that was a quote from the second webpage Adele gave us)
Corvuscorva Nightfire lays a hand on Gaya's arm..you help.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: You are a blessing to me.
Adams Rubble thinks our country would be better off if more people did what Riddle did
Adams Rubble: :)
Gaya Ethaniel overwhelmed with so much love around her... thanks
Adams Rubble: The love was there this morning too, Gaya
Gaya Ethaniel: mm... Riddle what did you used to do?? curious
Gaya Ethaniel: I know... I'm a lucky thing
Corvuscorva Nightfire rolls her eyes
Corvuscorva Nightfire: You attract it....it isn't luck...and you magnify it.
Gaya Ethaniel: oops
Corvuscorva Nightfire: You do these things cause you have worked hard to be Being.
Gaya Ethaniel: get scared when you roll your eyes Corvi :P
Corvuscorva Nightfire: or to get out of the way or whatever.
Riddle Sideways: Gaya, those stories are too long for today
Gaya Ethaniel: oh shame... Riddle
Corvuscorva Nightfire: yeah..cause next think you know I will be tossing things at you.
Gaya Ethaniel giggles
Riddle Sideways: lol
Gaya Ethaniel: ty Corvi for such kind words <smile>
Adelene Dawner: Corvi, I just got back and I'm still reading, but it's wonderful how I can start a thread and leave and you can keep it going just like it would if I was here ^.^
Corvuscorva Nightfire: ^.-
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Corvuscorva Nightfire snorts.
Gaya Ethaniel: O.o
Riddle Sideways: ah, the threads live
Riddle Sideways: thread life
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Gaya Ethaniel: wow if we weave all the threads we have had at PaB... how would the rug look like?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: amazing, rich and deeply colored.
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Riddle Sideways: tapestry from Being, with a weird corner
Adams Rubble: with spots to trckle the feet
Adams Rubble: tickle
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Riddle Sideways: each quarter day we overlap our threads
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.
Adelene Dawner: Something else I want to bring up (conversation may've wandered through this point, still reading): To achieve any real result, the drive to accomplish it has to be bigger than your self... really, it does. If you're 'being compassionate' for personal glory, that's not really compassion, and it's *blazingly obviously different* from some angles, and it leads to a completely different result than true compassion, which is selfless.
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Corvuscorva Nightfire: mmmhmm..the difference between Grokking and doing what would make YOU feel better.
Faenik: why not?
Gaya Ethaniel: don't be such a selfish thing Faenik
Adelene Dawner: Yes, Corvi.
Riddle Sideways: thank you Faenik
Adelene Dawner: And as to 'means to an end'...
Adelene Dawner: Corvi was very very close, and entirely accurate in a day to day sense. You can't help people very well if you're not in good shape yourself.
Adelene Dawner: Beyond that even...
Adelene Dawner: I think you all know I've walked through some very dark places in my life. What I learned from that is that it's possible to survive more than you think you can, and come out wiser, if you have the strength to do so.
Adelene Dawner: And that 'strength' takes many forms.
Adelene Dawner: Staying strong in those ways is 'taking care of yourself'.
Adelene Dawner: And any real accomplishment will mean walking through those dark places on the way. If it was easy, it'd've been done already.
Gaya Ethaniel: taking care of oneself can mean more than just that...
Faenik loves wells!
Riddle Sideways: 'means to an end' seems to always have that weighting factor. many times bad means to get to a good end
Riddle Sideways: the superhero is distroyed or tainted to save the race
Riddle Sideways: how many bad things are justifies
Gaya Ethaniel: the superhero needs to see all sides...
Gaya Ethaniel: needs to be able to see*
Faenik loves wells!
Gaya Ethaniel: to do that... as Adele said one needs to walk through some dark places and survive
Riddle Sideways: walking through the dark places as the badest ass of all, might not be the right means?
Adelene Dawner: The world's a hard place, Riddle. Sometimes the right decision is that. And there's beauty in having the strength to give all of your life, even the last breath, to it.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and perhaps the superhero needs to accept themselves as they are? accepting the rest "as is" too.
Adams Rubble: There is one small part of us that none of those places can hurt
Adelene Dawner was responding to "superhero is destroyed or tainted"
Gaya Ethaniel: obstable is the path - zan proverb
Gaya Ethaniel nods at Adele
Gaya Ethaniel: that is what Pema meant in 1 AM session, that cannot be exhanged or given away
Adelene Dawner: " walking through the dark places as the badest ass of all" - that's not the same meaning of 'dark' as I was using.
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: I realised, was just twisting and turning
Adelene Dawner: ok :)
Gaya Ethaniel: destroyed or tainted are not right words to describe those qualities imo
Faenik: why not?
Adelene Dawner: There's a sequence here that's important, really.
Adelene Dawner: If you *decide* to have a purpose... no matter what you fill in the blank with, that's not it, it's not real.
Adelene Dawner: Having a purpose comes first.
Gaya Ethaniel: does one choose?
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.
Riddle Sideways: soetimes
Adelene Dawner: I didn't. And every bit of reading I've found says no.
Adelene Dawner: You can choose to ignore or not accept your purpose, perhaps... that's the closest thing I've seen to having any choice in the matter.
Gaya Ethaniel: where does this purpose come from?
Adelene Dawner: I don't know, in general. In my case, it's related to the events of my childhood... but the worldview that is central to my puprose was guiding my reactions to those even then.
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Riddle Sideways needs to do RL thing, please continue
Gaya Ethaniel: ok Riddle
Gaya Ethaniel: some of things I want to do with my life seems selfish unless I look at them as sharing myself/my stories
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles at Gaya.
Gaya Ethaniel: as in compared to what Adele wants to do
Adelene Dawner: Gaya - trust your inner goodness, Love.
Gaya Ethaniel nods... ok
Corvuscorva Nightfire hits Gaya with a pillow.
Gaya Ethaniel: erk
Adelene Dawner: ^.^ Good call, Corvi.
Adams Rubble: We all can work to what Adelene wants to do in our own small ways
Faenik: told ya
Corvuscorva Nightfire snickers at Faenik.
Gaya Ethaniel: I hope so Adams...
Adams Rubble doesn't agree that dividing people is a natural state
Adelene Dawner: Gaya... wanna help me test a hypothesis?
Gaya Ethaniel: mm... sure
Adelene Dawner: Ok, the hypothesis is this: Everyone has a purpose already, whether they know it or not. Their natural impulses will lead them toward fulfilling that purpose, whether they can see the big picture or not, and probably more easily if they can't.
Adelene Dawner: So: "some of things I want to do with my life seems selfish unless I look at them as sharing myself/my stories" ... do 'em anyway. See where that takes you. I wanna know. I know where it led me. ^.^
Gaya Ethaniel: ok ok <smile>
Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Gaya Ethaniel: can you say more about 'natural impulses'?
Adelene Dawner: Things that you want to do, just because you want to do them or because they look like fun or because they look interesting.
Adams Rubble: I must run. Thank you all for the conversation. Have a good day (evening). Bye :)
Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Adelene Dawner: cya Adams :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: or grab you in some way..bye, Adams.
Gaya Ethaniel: Good day Adams
Gaya Ethaniel: ah.. those Adele
Adelene Dawner: Anything that's not a means to some specific end.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I am not sure all the impulses are so positive.
Gaya Ethaniel: mm...?
PaB Listener Master: Removing "Adams Rubble" from list.
Adelene Dawner: Oh, Corvus?
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.
Adams Rubble is Offline
Corvuscorva Nightfire: some of mine are fascination, but not necessarily a pleasant one..
Quel Karillion: Hi Corvi, Gaya, Adele (and afk Riddle)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hiya Quel.
Gaya Ethaniel: Hey!
Gaya Ethaniel: oops.. I meant to... gasshou
Quel Karillion smiles.
Quel Karillion: Hey!
Gaya Ethaniel: too many IMs are not condusive to a PaB session.. no
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adelene Dawner: Ah, I think I know what you're talking about, Corvi, and unless I'm way off the mark, those arise *with* a full awareness that that's not something you really want to do, but something that you want to figure out why you think you want to do it.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: well...for instance...due to my own childhood...I am hyperaware of strangers...notice their body language and look for meaning.
Adelene Dawner: ok...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: which has led to some skills formed, and other interests arise...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: but...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: rather a dark path there.
Adelene Dawner: We were just talking about dark paths, Love. :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: smiles
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adelene Dawner: :)
Gaya Ethaniel: don't fear it too much Corvi. you're bigger than the path
Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Faenik: why not?
Adelene Dawner: Fae has a point... fear is part of it. Though 'too much' are important words there.
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles.
Quel Karillion: fear in moderation can be useful.
Gaya Ethaniel: yes definitely
Gaya Ethaniel: being able to 'judge' whether to act on a particular fear is important to me... rather than letting the fear stopping me from trying out completely
Quel Karillion would call that seeing if the fear has any real substance.
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Gaya Ethaniel: I've been doing that last few days Corvi as I was talking in 1 AM session
Faenik loves wells!
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Gaya Ethaniel: I'm afraid my time is up and RL calls. Lovely seeing you all again. Good day
Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Adelene Dawner: cya, Gaya ^.^
Corvuscorva Nightfire: oh, bye, Gaya!
Quel Karillion: See you later Gaya :)
Riddle Sideways: back, but must leave
Adelene Dawner: cya Riddle :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye, Riddle.
Quel Karillion: see you later Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: could somebody tack the continuation of this chat onto the wiki
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I will..now that I know how.
Riddle Sideways: and actually the beginning that I missed too
Corvuscorva Nightfire: oh, that I an't
Riddle Sideways: thank you so mucht.
Adelene Dawner: ooh, a quote, where 'shut up and multiply' is shorthand for 'go do the work already': Altruism isn't the warm fuzzy feeling you get from being altruistic. If you're doing it for the spiritual benefit, that is nothing but selfishness. The primary thing is to help others, whatever the means. So shut up and multiply!
Adelene Dawner: And I say also this to Corvuscorva Nightfire: That if you set aside your regret for all the spiritual satisfaction you could be having - if you wholeheartedly pursue the Way, without thinking that you are being cheated - if you give yourself over to rationality without holding back, you will find that rationality gives to you in return.
Adelene Dawner is becoming more and more interested in getting in touch with the guy who writes this stuff.
Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.
Quel Karillion: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: who is it?
Adelene Dawner: http://yudkowsky.net/
Corvuscorva Nightfire: ah..I'll keep that to read...very interesting.
Adelene Dawner: :D there's a SL group for the Singularity Institute!
Quel Karillion: It was an interesting article :)
Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Quel Karillion lurked through the autorecorder for the start of the meeting.
Adelene Dawner: hehe
Adelene Dawner: Hm.
Adelene Dawner: Pema and Elizer should meet, maybe? I know Pem's involved in that asteroid collision prevention thing.
Quel Karillion: Elizer?
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods...It looks like they might have overlapping interests.
Adelene Dawner: Yes, there's obvious overlaps between that And Elizer's interests. Elizer Yudkowsky is the guy I was just quoting and I linked to one of his articles earlier.
Adelene Dawner: Plus his profile page thing.
Quel Karillion: Ah
Quel Karillion: he did sound like an interesting person
Adelene Dawner: Moderately sure he and I are neurologically similar, too. ^.^
Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs..does look like it, doesn't it.
Adelene Dawner: He does occasionally mention different brain quirks... they all seem familiar so far ^.^
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Adelene Dawner: It will be interesting to see if/how my interest in transhumanism dovetails with the rest of everything... though it really looks like it at least could.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: yes, indeed.
Quel Karillion: :)
Adelene Dawner: Well. I really do need to go buy groceries.
Quel Karillion: See you later Adele :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: good...I'm tired of the log already..heheheh
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Cya soon!
Adelene Dawner: cya Quel, Corvi :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye, Quel..it's time for me to go have other sl adventures for a while.
Quel Karillion: sure, see you later :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles...
