The Guardian for this meeting was Wester Kiranov. The comments are by Wester Kiranov.
oO0Oo Resident and Korel Laloix joined me in the pavillion at the start of the hour. Mickorod Renard came in a bit later. We talked about sleep, synchronicity, e-mail and miracles.
Wester Kiranov: hi oO0, hi korel
Korel Laloix: Heya
--BELL--
oO0Oo Resident: Hi Wester, Hi Korel
oO0Oo Resident considers the seating geomancy... hm..
Korel Laloix: Finally starting to get sleepy.
Korel Laloix: Geomancy?
oO0Oo Resident: "noun: divination by means of signs connected with the earth (as points taken at random or the arrangement of particles thrown down at random or from the configuration of a region and its relation to another)"
Korel Laloix: Never head that word before... thanks.
oO0Oo Resident: :)
oO0Oo Resident: Did you run today?
Korel Laloix: First thing this morning.
oO0Oo Resident: nods
Korel Laloix: Ended up running twice yesterday..... my ex called and wanted to chat... so we met and ran.... I should not have agreed to i.
oO0Oo Resident: You are relaxing before bedtime?
Korel Laloix: Finally getting sleepy.
oO0Oo Resident: nods
oO0Oo Resident: Are you well Wester?
Wester Kiranov: yes. it's in the morning here, so I try to stave off sleepiness with big mugs of coffee
Wester Kiranov: how are you o0?
oO0Oo Resident smiles I can almost see the curls of steam rising and imagine the smell
Korel Laloix: That does sounds good ... but i would be awake even longer.
oO0Oo Resident: I'm well thanks :)
Wester Kiranov: i only drink coffe in the morning and early afternoon - i definitely wouldn't if I were in your time zone Korel :)
Korel Laloix: It is a nice thought though.
oO0Oo Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: Never work in a coffe shop... it either addicts you or makes you never want to smell it again.
oO0Oo Resident: nice thoughts before bed.. a good practice :)
Wester Kiranov: as long as it doesn't do both... addict you and repulse you at the same time
oO0Oo Resident: hehehehehe
Korel Laloix: Ooool that would be bad.
oO0Oo Resident: a classic approach / avoidance conflict
Korel Laloix: When I am confident I can actually go to sleep I get in bed.
Korel Laloix: I try to have a little prayer time then....
Korel Laloix: Cleans my mind a bit.
Wester Kiranov: do you find it difficult to fall asleep korel?
Korel Laloix: I have bad insomnia.
Wester Kiranov: i am sorry to hear that
Korel Laloix: Me to.
Korel Laloix: If things are right I can usually get just over five hours now.
Korel Laloix: Went to a sleep clinic a while back.
Korel Laloix: Befor that I was only averaging about three hours fourty five a night.
oO0Oo Resident: what did they say?
Korel Laloix: So managable.
Korel Laloix: Got me off the drugs.
Korel Laloix: And helped me with what they called sleep hygiene.
Korel Laloix: And some good techniques.
Wester Kiranov: like no coffee before bedtime ? ;)
oO0Oo Resident: oh wow.. never heard of that "sleep hygiene" cool
Korel Laloix: No coffee after lunch.
Wester Kiranov: have you read The Promise of Sleep?
Korel Laloix: Sounds familure... maybe.
Wester Kiranov: It was written by one of the guys that discovered REM sleep
--BELL--
Wester Kiranov: http://www.librarything.com/work/54339
oO0Oo Resident: Another link: The Promise of Sleep: A Pioneer in Sleep Medicine Explores the Vital Connection Between Health, Happiness, and a Good Night's Sleep http://is.gd/pVJEU4
Wester Kiranov: It's background information, and a plea for paying more attention to out sleep. Not a self-help book
oO0Oo Resident: Interesting distinction, and looks worthwhile
Wester Kiranov: I really enjoyed reading it
Korel Laloix: I have probalby read all that... did a lot of reading on it.
Wester Kiranov: I can imagine, yes
Korel Laloix: Was sort of depressing reading it at the time.... reading how important it is to sleep, then not being able to do it.
oO0Oo Resident: nods
Korel Laloix: No idea how I kept my grades up.
oO0Oo Resident: I know that feeling
oO0Oo Resident: Wester, did you come away with changed life habits?
Korel Laloix: A lot of the time, it is just hard to turn my brain off.
Korel Laloix: The sleep clinic really changed things for me.
Korel Laloix: Comming off the drugs was the best part.
oO0Oo Resident: I reckon...
Korel Laloix: Ok... off to be I think.
Korel Laloix: Thanks for the chat.
oO0Oo Resident: Night Korel Ty
Korel Laloix: Take care all.
oO0Oo Resident: Hi Mick :)
oO0Oo Resident: You too Korel
Mickorod Renard: Hi
Wester Kiranov: hi mickey. long time no see!!!
Mickorod Renard: I just thought I ould have a peek at who was here at this time
Mickorod Renard: Hi Wester
Mickorod Renard: How are you?
Wester Kiranov: (sorry, my e-mail was being hacked, had to do something about it)
oO0Oo Resident: O.O
Mickorod Renard: good idea
Mickorod Renard: wierd thing to do though, someone hack ur e mails
Mickorod Renard: unless of course you are some sort of anti establishment sort of person
Mickorod Renard: and I am sure you are not
Mickorod Renard: :)
Wester Kiranov: yeah - a week or so ago someone hacked my hotmail and sent a viagra advertisement to my whole address book
Mickorod Renard: ahh,,i get some of those too
Wester Kiranov: and just now my g-mail was being used in the Bahamas
Mickorod Renard: thats wierd
Wester Kiranov: i changed my password, i hope thats enough
Mickorod Renard: doubt it
oO0Oo Resident: at least Gmail has the feature where you can check
Mickorod Renard: at first I thought it was a personal sort of suggestion re the viagara..some sort of syncronicity
Mickorod Renard: he he
Wester Kiranov: and the gmail alerted me
Mickorod Renard: talking of sycronicity..do either of you practice some sort of disaplin re syncronicity?
Wester Kiranov: i am not actively doing anything about synchronicty , no
oO0Oo Resident: I don't think so.. say more Mik?
oO0Oo Resident: *Mick
Mickorod Renard: well..I know its been brought up in the past,,on pab
--BELL--
oO0Oo Resident: shall we go into the pause with "synchronicity"?
Mickorod Renard: and its odd I find how so many actions in my life seem to flow in a certain direction
Mickorod Renard: oops
Mickorod Renard: many could suggest that this coincidence can be put down to personal interests,,books one iare attracted too etc
Mickorod Renard: and circles one moves in
Mickorod Renard: but then there are others that may suggest that there is a practical perpose to it and a disaplin in using it
Mickorod Renard: although I feel I know something about it I am interested in it more now than before
Wester Kiranov: i guess it is one way of opening up to the unexpected
Mickorod Renard: and thus intrigued in knowing about others that see it
Mickorod Renard: have you been absent Wester or just on a diferent time zone?
Mickorod Renard: oOOOo, you seem to span all time zones :)
Wester Kiranov: I don't go to other slots of PaB that often, i'm afraid
Mickorod Renard: I have reduced my visits quite significantly
Mickorod Renard: but still do maxines dreams and also the WoK sessions
Wester Kiranov: i am sure i haven't seen you here since we met in RL :-)
Mickorod Renard: I had some time out, but I am here again at least 3 times a week
Wester Kiranov: then maybe synchronicity didn't want us to meet before :-P
Mickorod Renard: :)
Mickorod Renard: Its a rare chance I get to visit at this time, I am at work usually
oO0Oo Resident: from wikipedia: "The concept does not question, or compete with, the notion of causality. Instead it maintains that, just as events may be grouped by cause, they may also be grouped by meaning. A grouping of events by meaning need not have an explanation in terms of cause and effect."
Mickorod Renard: interesting
--BELL--
Mickorod Renard: the last sentence seems confusing
Mickorod Renard: ok..I must go and do some rl chores, have a nice day folks
Wester Kiranov: see you mickey
oO0Oo Resident: have a nice day Mick. Good to see you
Mickorod Renard: see ya ,,good seeing you both,,take care
oO0Oo Resident: are you on a wireless network Wester?
Wester Kiranov: no, i'm at home
--BELL--
oO0Oo Resident: synchronicity seems like it is a bit like Déjà vu.. something identified in experience.. something quasi-magical, or seemingly improbable
oO0Oo Resident: an unknown worth gapping with :)
Wester Kiranov: I do feel very skeptical of it though.
oO0Oo Resident: Looking at the criticism section at wikipedia about synchronicity... interesting but lol I like this... Littlewood's Law: Individuals can expect a miracle to happen to them at the rate of about one per month: http://is.gd/kFvsiT Now it's my turn to peek out at readers and ask, is there synchronicity there for you?
Wester Kiranov: I was looking for that law, I knew something like that existed but I couldn't find it. thanks
oO0Oo Resident: perhaps not a miracle, but... yw
oO0Oo Resident: ;)
oO0Oo Resident: I hope that everyone who needs a miracle in this moment might have one
Wester Kiranov: ah... that's a nice thought.
--BELL--
Wester Kiranov: if we use littlewoods definition of a miracle we have about 7000 of them to hand out
Wester Kiranov: and 7000 more next second... and the next...
oO0Oo Resident: feels kind of bountiful
Wester Kiranov: maybe a bit less if they all have to be good miracles, not freak accidents and things like that
oO0Oo Resident: maybe each moment is a miracle in its own frame.. depending on how we frame it
Wester Kiranov: i think it can be
oO0Oo Resident: :)))))
oO0Oo Resident: thanks Wester :)))
Wester Kiranov: yw o0
Wester Kiranov: are you leaving?
oO0Oo Resident: Glad to see you. Glad miracles are in the air.
oO0Oo Resident: Yes .. feels a good moment.. Be well :)))
Wester Kiranov: be well
Wester Kiranov: bye
oO0Oo Resident: bye bye
I then sat for a few minutes more, watching darkness fall.
