    Lucinda Lavender: HI
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi Cinda
Calvino Rabeni: How are you - what's new?
Lucinda Lavender: Just got back from a place in 2L called Gilmour(106,123,21)
    Lucinda Lavender: very beautiful
Lucinda Lavender: with doors into amazing scapes
Calvino Rabeni: I haven't heard of it ... is it a fantasy place?
    Lucinda Lavender: well dream like
Lucinda Lavender: enter a door and it is a new land
Lucinda Lavender: was only there a short time
    Lucinda Lavender: how are you...?
Calvino Rabeni: oh tired, but holding it okay tonight :)
    Lucinda Lavender: still south?
Calvino Rabeni: I was up in the middle of the night with a misbehaving phone
    Lucinda Lavender: aw
    Lucinda Lavender: sorry
Calvino Rabeni: it wanted to be helpful and alert me of all kinds of things
    Calvino Rabeni: but
Calvino Rabeni: it was not aware it was sleep time
Lucinda Lavender: well maybe it is fixed?
    Lucinda Lavender: now?
Calvino Rabeni: seems funny to me they don't make it quiet when its owner is sleeping
    Lucinda Lavender: hmmm
Lucinda Lavender: this morning in the guardian meeting we talked about what is knowcking at the door'
    Lucinda Lavender: knocking:)
Calvino Rabeni: ... yes still south, but I'm coming back north for the holiday
    Lucinda Lavender: oh good
Calvino Rabeni: Had the first snow yesterday .it made me concerned about driving through the passes
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding
    Lucinda Lavender: can imagine
Lucinda Lavender: have not been to this session in a while due to concerts...
Calvino Rabeni: is this a concert-y season of year?
Lucinda Lavender: not especially..I have about one a month
    Calvino Rabeni nods
Calvino Rabeni: what was the "knocking at the door" idea?
Lucinda Lavender: maybe you can come to one
Lucinda Lavender: we'll talk about that later...
Lucinda Lavender: well Pema spoke about every moment there is something new knocking at the door
Lucinda Lavender: funny since on friday I woke thinking I heard 7 knocks at the door...right when my session was about to start
Lucinda Lavender: that was an aside
    Calvino Rabeni: :)

    --BELL--
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya luci cal :)
Calvino Rabeni: Hi, good evening !
    Lucinda Lavender: HI Paradise:)
    Lucinda Lavender: pretty dress
    Lucinda Lavender: and hair
Paradise Tennant: the old me ..found I missed it :)
Paradise Tennant: how are you two tonight ?
Lucinda Lavender: opening doors of remembrance
    Paradise Tennant: nods yes
    Lucinda Lavender: pretty good...
    Lucinda Lavender: and you?
Paradise Tennant: had this hairs since day 2 :)
Paradise Tennant: very well sheets are in the dryer .. dog is snoring ..innocent of the fact it is bath night :)
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
Calvino Rabeni: I'm pretty well, a bit tired, also getting ready for my migration north for the winter
Calvino Rabeni: I enjoyed the snow day a couple of days ago
Calvino Rabeni: but best travel now before conditions get harder to travel
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
Calvino Rabeni: getting ready to hibernate :)
Paradise Tennant: where do you hibernate cal ?
Lucinda Lavender: bearlike qualities knocking at the door
Paradise Tennant: we have a lot of the natural world within us :)
Paradise Tennant: we are a composite of fish, mammal, and mineral just a bit of star dust :)
    Calvino Rabeni: fowl?
Paradise Tennant: smiles yes fowl I suspect :) know I have my chicken moments :)
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Calvino Rabeni: I feel like a salad
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Calvino Rabeni: I went to a restaurant, that had a salad bar and a juice bar
Calvino Rabeni: the selection in the juice bar was beets and carrots and a little more
Calvino Rabeni: so I asked if I could get the vegetables from the salad bar in a juice
Calvino Rabeni: the answer was "no"
    Paradise Tennant: hello san :)
Calvino Rabeni: so I asked, if I buy a salad, could you please put it through the juicer for me?
Lucinda Lavender: what did they say?
    Calvino Rabeni: "Yes"
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi San
Santoshima Resident: hi cal, lucinda, paradise
    Lucinda Lavender: Hi San
Santoshima Resident: did they say that with the quote marks?
Calvino Rabeni: No, I added those for seasoning :)
    Santoshima Resident: :)
    Paradise Tennant: sounds healthy :)
Calvino Rabeni: mmm yes, bell peppers and sunflower sprouts and spinach
    Lucinda Lavender: love spinach
    Santoshima Resident: paradise?
    Santoshima Resident: legs?
    Santoshima Resident: reduced?
Paradise Tennant: like bok choy steamed ;)
Paradise Tennant: looks down at her legs ..
    Santoshima Resident: gailan
Santoshima Resident: how are you doing that?
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: That's a good story starter ... once upon a time I was in a house and I heard a knock on the door and ...
Paradise Tennant: the wind blew and whistled as I opened the door ... to an avalanche of glistening swirling snow flakes ..
Lucinda Lavender: It ain't a fit night out for man nor beast!"...someone heard in their mind....
Lucinda Lavender: recalling an old movie they had watched once.
Calvino Rabeni: what is it about stories that make them exciting?
Paradise Tennant: smiles well walking into a different world living and breathing another life :)
Paradise Tennant: find a really good book is as good as a vacation .. it unkinks you .. we all need adventure :)
    Calvino Rabeni nods
Lucinda Lavender: sometimes a new experience...sometimes an old one
Paradise Tennant: and challenges .. the victory moments :)
Calvino Rabeni: Kids and the mind of innocence likes a story for bringing something new ... and also for bringing something familiar for further savoring
    Calvino Rabeni: or testing?
Paradise Tennant: hmm yes find I always want to eat what they are eating reading the old man and the sea had me frying bananas :)
Calvino Rabeni: I'm not sure... what's the pleasure in hearing a familiar story many times?
Calvino Rabeni: certainly it's not about anything remotely to do with facts and information
Santoshima Resident: it's part of our human legacy, to tell stories ... it's how we learn about living
Santoshima Resident: it's the map of our cultures
Santoshima Resident: and collective and individual lives
Lucinda Lavender: for some people I think it is that it is a revisiting of a situation and solving it to some degree
Calvino Rabeni: somehow, it gets refreshed again
Calvino Rabeni: some door opens again.
Lucinda Lavender: and the hero wins again
    Santoshima Resident: or not
Paradise Tennant: being swept along .and not knowing where you are going ..has appeal too :)
    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: the chance to see the world through another's eyes .. too very powerful .. very expanding
    Santoshima Resident: truly
Paradise Tennant: reading .. the live and opinions of Maf the dog and of his friend Marilyn Monroe by Andrew O'Hagan very whimsical
Paradise Tennant: full of charm and observation :)
Paradise Tennant: jane austen had that too an eye for human detail
Calvino Rabeni: I have a subscription to an email list for science news ... the writers manage to make all the items interesting, as essentially the same story ... a discovery of something new and unexpected that will change an older story and require some re-evaluation
Calvino Rabeni: like a stranger coming and saying, you have an uncle you didn't know about, who has left you something that simply must be attended to .. off you go :)
Santoshima Resident: National book award recipient: Nikky Finney >
Santoshima Resident: http://kalamu.posterous.com/video-professor-nikky-finney-wins-national-bo skip ahead to 16:10
    Santoshima Resident: this past week
    Santoshima Resident: wonderful
Santoshima Resident: ( but too long for here, now)
Paradise Tennant: thank you san .. looks interesting
Santoshima Resident: yw, paradise ~ stev, what's the story on your invisibleness
    Santoshima Resident: (sP ... )
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya stev :)
    Calvino Rabeni finds a quote:
    Santoshima Resident: invisibility?
    Calvino Rabeni:
Q: When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up, and why?
A: I was a terribly curious child. I still believe my curiosity is what keeps my imagination sparking and alive. I loved many subjects as a child. For some reason I was drawn to dinosaurs and paleontology. I was also deeply interested in anything that had to do with the moon and the stars but I really only wanted to be a writer. I think it was because I knew if I became a writer I wouldn’t have to choose between any of the things I loved. I could incorporate all of my favorite things into my life. I could write about any and everything.

stevenaia Michinaga: which is the question at hand?
Santoshima Resident: :)) who Q? and who A?
stevenaia Michinaga: invisibility or growing up
    stevenaia Michinaga: (waves to Observerm)
Calvino Rabeni: Nikky Finney was A... Q was a literary blog
    Santoshima Resident: nice, ty
Calvino Rabeni: hmm Stevenaia, the question not quite designated, is something like, what makes a story exciting
    Calvino Rabeni: ?
    stevenaia Michinaga: Nikky Finney?
stevenaia Michinaga: I have one for today, I think
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: I'd never heard the name before San gave the link, but it's like someone unexpected knocking at a door ... "hello, it's Nikky Finney the writer and I just received an award"
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Lucinda Lavender: Hi steves dress and hair:)
stevenaia Michinaga: Hmmm, I see me complete today, am I the only one
Lucinda Lavender: also unexpected is the lack of body for you...
Paradise Tennant: sl is acting up tonighte
stevenaia Michinaga: My Tai Chi Teacher came across me and the following conversation ensued.......
stevenaia Michinaga: Teacher... We have a mutual friend!
    stevenaia Michinaga: one?
stevenaia Michinaga: Insert mutual friend's name here......
stevenaia Michinaga: lol, oh yes, we go way back... you know her as "Friend's nickname", so you must go way back too I would love to here how my name came up in conversation, other than spouse being the catalyst for her marrying (Husband's name)
stevenaia Michinaga: Teacher...So she told me! I didn't hear that. Did hear stories, though....
stevenaia Michinaga: well this will be another one to look forward to listens to stories about my past......
stevenaia Michinaga: Teacher.... It was fun! And entirely respectful
stevenaia Michinaga: well then it couldn't have been me
stevenaia Michinaga: Teacher.... We spoke about you respectfully; not that your young adult antics were so pure But we've all been there....
stevenaia Michinaga: We have always been good friends and I'm sure is was very amusing
stevenaia Michinaga: (end of short story)
Santoshima Resident: :)) * clap clap clap *
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
Calvino Rabeni found the part about (somebody) to be (intriguing / amusing) :)
Calvino Rabeni: would you excuse me though please, I need to go (eat dinner/walk the dog/take a nap)
Calvino Rabeni: :) maybe 2 out of three
stevenaia Michinaga: strange when "Teacher" is younger than you are, an interesting reversal that happens more and more as life continues
Calvino Rabeni: so take care, everyone
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye CAl
    Lucinda Lavender: yes you too!
    Santoshima Resident: bye Cal, thanks
Paradise Tennant: nite nite cal :) thank you
    Lucinda Lavender: bye cal....
Calvino Rabeni: Good night all :)
Paradise Tennant: I had a dream luci
stevenaia Michinaga: Even stranger when it;s your teacher's birthday and when she shays she is only.... (insert age less than yours) and you audibly gasp and say "only that old" and then realize you just insulted your teacher
    Santoshima Resident: how audibly?
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
stevenaia Michinaga: well, she heard me
Lucinda Lavender: any part you wish to share Para?
Santoshima Resident: alas, there goes your taiji career ...
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: bexplaining that I felt she was wiser than her years didn;t really help either, even though it was actually true
    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: funny how easy it for things to come out not the way you intended them to
Paradise Tennant: then you are left scrambling to put things right .. back in balance
    Lucinda Lavender: yes!!
stevenaia Michinaga: welcome to my world
Santoshima Resident: did you say the dream? i was daydreaming ...
Paradise Tennant: it is like the truth unsettles everything
Paradise Tennant: just so rarely dream ..that I remember .. was happy with just the remembering
stevenaia Michinaga: laughs, thanks Sam, waht were you doing in the underworld?
    stevenaia Michinaga: San

    Santoshima Resident: sorry
Paradise Tennant: strange my feet are sticking ..out too :)
    Santoshima Resident: yeah
Lucinda Lavender: trying out the subtraction idea...what one might identify as as a picture...taking it away sort of
    Lucinda Lavender: like....tired teacher...poof...
Santoshima Resident: will send to luci, too
    Lucinda Lavender: not moving lump...poof
