Wol Euler was guardian for this session.
Wol Euler: wow, hello hana
Wol Euler: I haven't seen you here in ages!
Hana Furlough: hey wol!
Wol Euler smiles.
Hana Furlough: yes it's been some time!
Hana Furlough: how are you?
Wol Euler: muddling along :)
--BELL--
Wol Euler: having a slow week, the boss is away so it's a partial holiday
Hana Furlough: i see!
Hana Furlough: that is very good
Hana Furlough: you can relax a little
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: I'm still going in, the plants need to be watered etc etc, but there's no pressure this week
Hana Furlough: that's good
Hana Furlough: you can enjoy plant watering
Wol Euler grins.
Wol Euler: I do actually, though it's best if I don't do it for too long
Wol Euler: else the plants suffer
Hana Furlough: oh i know
Hana Furlough: i'm very bad with houseplants
Hana Furlough: too much water
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: how are your pigeons doing?
Hana Furlough: they're good! almost as big as mom and dad
Wol Euler grins.
Hana Furlough: but still with downy fluff
Wol Euler: yeah, the feathers take a while to grow in properly
Hana Furlough: it seems that way. could be another few weeks before flight lessons
Wol Euler: more fun for you :)
Hana Furlough: i know!
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: heheh, I just remembered. I sent you the menu / card from a rather nice family-run restaurant, did you ever go there?
Hana Furlough: you know, i haven't yet gone
Hana Furlough: i remember you sent me a PDF, right?
Wol Euler: that's right, I scanned their broschure
Hana Furlough: i'm sure i still have it
Hana Furlough: i need to go there!
Wol Euler: you do :)
Wol Euler: it was a great place, lovely food and nice people
Wol Euler: had you gone right away, when the memory of me was fresh, their reaction would probably have amused you
Hana Furlough: ahh too bad that i didn't do that
Wol Euler: not to worry :)
Hana Furlough: i could have told them you sent me
Hana Furlough: maybe i still will
Wol Euler: exactly :)
Wol Euler: because I had been twice, and the second time they greeted me like a long-lost relative
Wol Euler: I don't speak Japanese, obviuosly, but I figured out that the chef/father/owner was telling the other guests about the guy from Canada who came back to their restaurant
Hana Furlough: lol! amazing!
Hana Furlough: ahh i see
Hana Furlough: i will say i'm a friend of the guy from canada, then
Wol Euler: exactly :) "twice in one week"
Wol Euler: the food will be as good even if they don't remember
Hana Furlough: i look forward to it!
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: I've got Google Maps open, trying to remember where it was. Higashioji Dori, south of the big park-like temple?
Hana Furlough: nanzenji?
Wol Euler: can't tell you :( the naming is mixed, that one is labelled purely in kanji
Hana Furlough: oh no
Hana Furlough: did you send it from your usual account?
Wol Euler: at the point where Shijo Dori runs into Higashioji Dori
Hana Furlough: hello stevenaia
Wol Euler: I think it was a few streets south of that
Hana Furlough: oh ok
Wol Euler: good morning, stevie
stevenaia Michinaga: Morning Wol and hana
Wol Euler: we are talking about kyoto, Hana and I met when I went there last winter
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: :), sounds nice,
stevenaia Michinaga: We met in Princeton, didn;t we hana?
Wol Euler: Pema and Kiremimi were there, we had a great meal together one evening, with some philosopher contacts of his
Hana Furlough: yes, we did!
stevenaia Michinaga: all I remember is Indian food
Hana Furlough: a very nice evening
stevenaia Michinaga: and a great time with storm
Hana Furlough: oh right! the indian place in princeton!
stevenaia Michinaga: and the usual suspects
Hana Furlough: (^_^)
stevenaia Michinaga: I have photos if I never got them to you
Hana Furlough: this is annoying me, wol, i can't find your flier :(
Hana Furlough: you do? nice!
stevenaia Michinaga: IM your email address if you wnat a copy
Wol Euler: I think I still have it in the office, I'll send it again
Hana Furlough: will do, thanks!
Hana Furlough: yes, please, wol! i'll be sure to go this time
Wol Euler: all right :)
stevenaia Michinaga: are you two neighbors?
Wol Euler: which two?
stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, U and hana
Wol Euler: there are adjacencies :)
Wol Euler: we are neighbours on Facebook
Hana Furlough: :)
Hana Furlough: haha yes
Hana Furlough: psychic neighbors
Wol Euler: but I sent Hana the brochure of a lovely family-run restaurant that I found, and suggested she go along and say that I sent her
Wol Euler: because they had been really impressed to have a guest from canada - who came back twice in a week
Hana Furlough: i've dropped the ball and haven't gone...yet
Hana Furlough: the time is now
Wol Euler smiles.
Hana Furlough: how have you been stevie?
stevenaia Michinaga: I wish to be busier but things are slow, good new is I am meeting with an old friend who work for the university over indian food today to discuss a project
stevenaia Michinaga: I think the last time I had Indian food was in Princeton
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Hana Furlough: lol! what a nice coincidence!
Hana Furlough: i hope this bodes well for your project!
stevenaia Michinaga: nothing fancy but I thrive in work
Wol Euler smiles.
stevenaia Michinaga: probably an addiction to joy
Wol Euler: awwww
Hana Furlough: wow can you say more about that?
Wol Euler: there are many worse things to be addicted to
Hana Furlough: (^^)
stevenaia Michinaga: true, until it runs out
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: I alway wondered in disbief that someone would pay for what I do when it is so entertaining for me to do. Like working on someone elses puzzle
Hana Furlough: wow!!
Wol Euler smiles.
stevenaia Michinaga: which is great until the puzzels run out
Hana Furlough: are there more?
stevenaia Michinaga: always, usually it just takes them to understand (and hopefully not to late) that they have something that requires the kind of services that Wol and I provide
Wol Euler: yep
Hana Furlough: i see
stevenaia Michinaga: then it;s a matter of them letting go and taking the leap of fath that there is a solution beyond them
stevenaia Michinaga: yet at hand
Hana Furlough: ahh interesting
Wol Euler: it's a nervewracking business :)
stevenaia Michinaga: always interesting, however I often feel I should charge clients for couseling services in addition
Hana Furlough: lol!
Wol Euler: absolutely!
Wol Euler: one of my lecturers told the tale of listening to a couple describing what they wanted in a new house, and saying at the end "you don't need a house, you need a divorce."
Hana Furlough: ha!
Hana Furlough: oh no!
Wol Euler: he was famous for being *cough* forthright.
Wol Euler: which is a word obnoxious people use about themselves
stevenaia Michinaga: I ahve a "who ever tells me to do something, I consider it from both" clause
Wol Euler: yep, and the paper trail
Wol Euler: gotta have a paper trail
Hana Furlough: that's probably a good plan
stevenaia Michinaga: which only makes the project twice as long
Hana Furlough: email paper trail?
Wol Euler: but more secure
Wol Euler: email is OK as long as it exists, and always CC everyone
stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Wol Euler: one of the reasons this is so difficult is that almost by definition, most clients are building for the first (and last) time
Wol Euler: they have no idea what to do, what to expect
Hana Furlough: i can imagine
Wol Euler: of course they are nervous, worried even
stevenaia Michinaga: is everyone seeing the NDR zoom theough here heading south
Wol Euler: mmhmm :)
Wol Euler: several times
stevenaia Michinaga: ok, it;s not me then
Hana Furlough: i see something
stevenaia Michinaga: nervous, worried and hopefully happy at then end (usually after they fired you and bult it w/o your assistance
Hana Furlough: oh no!
Wol Euler: heheheheh
stevenaia Michinaga: sometimes you nevr see the eventually satisfaction on their faces because they make the process too stressful on themselves
Wol Euler nods.
Hana Furlough: i could see where that might happen
stevenaia Michinaga: you only hear about it... later
Wol Euler: my feeling is that happens because they confuse the result with the process
Wol Euler: home is a happy and peaceful and clean and safe place
Wol Euler: building is dirty and messy and ugly and noisy, and usually goes wrong
Wol Euler: cognitive dissonance
stevenaia Michinaga: except when it's under construction
Wol Euler: exactly
Hana Furlough: wow you both must have the patience of saints
Wol Euler laughs.
stevenaia Michinaga: hehe
Wol Euler: meditation has been a great help
Hana Furlough: i bet
Wol Euler: and knowing why people are upset makes it easier to deal with them being upset
stevenaia Michinaga: I usually fire the nuts quiclkly
Hana Furlough: ha!
--BELL--
Hana Furlough: it's been great chatting with you two but i should get going
Hana Furlough: hope to see you around again, soon!
Wol Euler: lovely to see you again, hana
Wol Euler: thanks for dropping in
Hana Furlough: ditto, wol!
Wol Euler: sprinkle some crumbs for the pigeons for us!
Hana Furlough: will do!
stevenaia Michinaga: good seeing yu again
Wol Euler smiles.
Hana Furlough: you too, stevie!
Hana Furlough: see you again soon
Hana Furlough: have good days!
stevenaia Michinaga: sun will be rising soon
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: and I have to get to the office, water the plants and collect the mail
Wol Euler: enjoy the day, stevie
stevenaia Michinaga: ok, enjoy WOl, thanks for being here
Wol Euler: my pleasure
Wol Euler: see you Sunday at 7am
stevenaia Michinaga: hope to see you on Sunday
stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Wol Euler smiles.
