    [00:54] Wol Euler: good morning
[00:54] Agatha Macbeth: Guten morgen Wollage ♥
    [00:54] Wol Euler grins.
    [00:54] Agatha Macbeth: Early?
[00:54] Wol Euler: you might say
    [00:54] Wol Euler: 6 minutes
[00:55] Agatha Macbeth: or couldn't sleep?
    [00:55] Wol Euler: heheh

[00:55] Wol Euler: I've been up for a while actually, had breakfast and read a chapter of Game of Thrones
    [00:55] Agatha Macbeth: What's that?
[00:56] Wol Euler: a series of novels about an earthlike fictional planet, set in their equivalent of our middle ages
[00:56] Wol Euler: swords and sorceries and political intrigue
[00:56] Agatha Macbeth: Oh. sounds good
[00:56] Wol Euler: George R.R. Martin
    [00:56] Wol Euler: addictive :)
[00:56] Agatha Macbeth: George Martin sounds familiar
[00:56] Wol Euler: he's been writing it for a decade or more
[00:56] Wol Euler: and it has recently been made into a TV series
[00:57] Wol Euler: or so I'm told. Never seen it
[00:57] Agatha Macbeth: Ah wouldn't know about that :p
[00:57] Agatha Macbeth: No TV any more
[00:57] Agatha Macbeth: (except Dr Who on retro player)
    [00:57] Wol Euler smiles.

[00:58] Agatha Macbeth: Actually the BBC back-player has some good stuff on it
[00:58] Agatha Macbeth: I watched Lion Witch and the Wardrobe on it last Xmas
[00:58] Agatha Macbeth: (or was it the Xmas before?)
[00:59] Wol Euler: I remember reading that, many decades ago
[00:59] Agatha Macbeth: Oh I've got the book in two versions :p
    [00:59] Wol Euler smiles.
[00:59] Agatha Macbeth: Mr Tunmus and all that
[01:00] Agatha Macbeth: Must read more of CS Lewis' tstuff
[01:00] Agatha Macbeth: with one t
[01:00] Agatha Macbeth: Out of the Silent Planet and all that
    [01:00] Wol Euler: hmmmmmm

[01:01] Wol Euler: who wrote Hornblower?
    [01:01] Agatha Macbeth: Horatio?
    [01:01] Wol Euler: C.S. Forester
[01:01] Wol Euler: another series that I loved intensely as a child
[01:02] Agatha Macbeth: Hm, not familiar with that I must say
[01:02] Agatha Macbeth: Will look it up
    [01:02] Wol Euler: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horatio_Hornblower
    [01:02] Agatha Macbeth: Ah, thx
[01:03] Agatha Macbeth: 'Hornblower is courageous, intelligent and a skilled seaman, but he is also burdened by his intense reserve, introspection and self-doubt'
    [01:03] Wol Euler: indeed
[01:04] Agatha Macbeth: Sounds like somebody I know
    [01:04] Wol Euler laughs.
    [01:04] Wol Euler: oh hush.
    [01:04] Agatha Macbeth: 7sm

[01:04] Agatha Macbeth: Funny, I was reading about the Napoleonic wars yesterday
    [01:04] Wol Euler: serendipity
[01:05] Agatha Macbeth: Just getting IMed by Xira
[01:06] Agatha Macbeth: Wasn't he a metal dog?
    [01:06] Wol Euler: he who?
    [01:06] Agatha Macbeth: Serendipity
[01:07] Wol Euler struggles for comprehension
[01:07] Agatha Macbeth: Hm, can't remember the programme he was in
[01:07] Agatha Macbeth: He was a robot dog who flew through space
[01:08] Wol Euler: hmmm, don't know that. I'll take your word for it
[01:08] Agatha Macbeth: Before the advent of K9
[01:08] Agatha Macbeth: You would still have been in moose country at the time I guess
[01:08] Wol Euler: very likely :)
    [01:09] Agatha Macbeth: Hehe

[01:09] Wol Euler: we didn't watch much TV when we were on holiday in the UK, before I moved there
    [01:09] Agatha Macbeth: Wise :p
[01:09] Wol Euler: I'm not sure that Nanny even had a TV at first
[01:10] Agatha Macbeth: No, they were a luxury in the early days
[01:12] Agatha Macbeth wonders what you are gazing at :p
[01:12] Wol Euler is fascinated by the ice on the fountain
    [01:12] Agatha Macbeth: Ah
[01:12] Wol Euler: and in anohter world is reading about Hornblower
    [01:12] Wol Euler grins.

[01:12] Agatha Macbeth: Hang on, there is no ice on the fountain
[01:13] Wol Euler: reliving some happy memories
    [01:13] Agatha Macbeth: Awwwwwwwww
[01:13] Wol Euler: yes there is, there's a thin rim of it at the edge
    [01:13] Wol Euler: look closely
    [01:13] Agatha Macbeth looks
[01:13] Wol Euler: it never freezes over because the water's moving
[01:13] Agatha Macbeth: Oh I see what you mean now
    [01:13] Wol Euler smiles.
    [01:13] Agatha Macbeth: Right
    [01:14] Agatha Macbeth: Interesting that
[01:14] Wol Euler: like ducks keeping a pond open by paddling around on it
    [01:14] Agatha Macbeth: Functional birds

[01:15] Agatha Macbeth: (going for toast, brb)
    [01:20] Agatha Macbeth: back
    [01:20] Wol Euler: and nomming
[01:20] Wol Euler: watch out for crumbs in the keyboard
[01:20] Agatha Macbeth: Damn toaster takes forever
[01:20] Agatha Macbeth: Oh I lean back :p
[01:21] Wol Euler: you need to turn the crank faster
[01:21] Agatha Macbeth: Or get a new hamster
    [01:21] Wol Euler: aye
[01:21] Agatha Macbeth: God it's dark for 9.21, can hardly see the keyboard
[01:22] Agatha Macbeth: Oh the wall worked btw, ty
    [01:22] Wol Euler smiles.
    [01:22] Wol Euler: my pleasure
[01:22] Agatha Macbeth: Didn't know you could do that with a prim
    [01:22] Wol Euler: 7gr
    [01:22] Wol Euler grins.
    [01:22] Agatha Macbeth: 7sm
[01:22] Wol Euler: they are useful little things
[01:23] Wol Euler: even if not as fancy as mesh
    [01:23] Agatha Macbeth: Absolutely
[01:23] Agatha Macbeth: I've never got into building in SL

[01:23] Wol Euler: I'm coming to the conclusion that it's a conceptual error to use mesh for clothing
[01:24] Wol Euler: the disadvantages are so great and so many, compared to the single advantage that it moves with your av
[01:24] Agatha Macbeth: Because of the constant re-editing it requires?
[01:24] Wol Euler: because it cannot be re-edited!
[01:24] Agatha Macbeth: Of your shape I meaN
    [01:24] Wol Euler: that, yes
[01:24] Wol Euler: which of course nobody who *lives in* SL would do
[01:25] Agatha Macbeth: It is awkward yes
[01:25] Agatha Macbeth: OK for dedicated fashionistas I guess
[01:25] Wol Euler: if by that you mean people who don'T actually care what their avatar looks like as long as it is well dressed? then yes

[01:26] Agatha Macbeth: Hm, I think editing is something some people are more ready to do than others
    [01:26] Wol Euler chuckles.
[01:26] Wol Euler: I readily admit my reluctance to change my shape
[01:27] Wol Euler: I'd be as likely to cut off a RL finger or two as to make serious changes to Wol's body
[01:27] Agatha Macbeth: Your shape *is* you :)
    [01:27] Wol Euler: exactly
[01:27] Wol Euler: which is why mesh is such crap
    [01:27] Agatha Macbeth smiles
[01:27] Wol Euler: for many of us
[01:27] Agatha Macbeth: Looks nice when it fits tho
[01:27] Wol Euler: well, yes but no
[01:28] Wol Euler: it doesn't look like the delicate layers of lace that you get on an AVid skirt
[01:28] Wol Euler: and never will
[01:28] Wol Euler: mesh is good for single solid pieces of fabric

[01:28] Agatha Macbeth: Darwin is a bit special :)
[01:28] Agatha Macbeth: Almost a magician in fact
    [01:28] Wol Euler: agreed
[01:29] Agatha Macbeth: No one else makes stuff that good
[01:29] Agatha Macbeth: Dunno how she does it
[01:29] Agatha Macbeth: Just talent I guess (and lots of practice)
[01:32] Agatha Macbeth: I was hoping Liz and Bert might turn up again today :(
    [01:33] Wol Euler nods.
[01:33] Wol Euler: I'm not going to wish insomnia on anyone, though
[01:34] Agatha Macbeth: Well the thing with Liz is, one tends to worry abaout her health
[01:34] Agatha Macbeth: Hope she's ok
    [01:34] Wol Euler sighs.
    [01:35] Wol Euler: agreed
[01:35] Agatha Macbeth: Hopefully Xmas won't take it out of her too much
[01:35] Agatha Macbeth: It's a tough time for mothers
    [01:35] Wol Euler: yep

[Eliza wipes a tear from the corner of her eye and assures Aggers and Wol
she is doing very well (((((((Thanks))))))]

[01:36] Wol Euler: well, it's not easy on anyone
[01:36] Agatha Macbeth: Especially the elves :p
[01:36] Wol Euler: so much social pressure to be happy! and grateful! and to love each other!
[01:36] Wol Euler: cooped up in the house together with no respite
[01:37] Agatha Macbeth: Ah, well I don't have those worries fortunately
    [01:37] Wol Euler smiles.
[01:37] Agatha Macbeth: Can largely do my own thing
[01:39] Wol Euler: I'm curious (and vaguely dreading) to see how my father is after these adventures
    [01:39] Agatha Macbeth: Yes
[01:39] Agatha Macbeth: It must be difficult
    [01:39] Wol Euler nods.
[01:40] Wol Euler: there will have to be some serious talks with my mother
    [01:40] Agatha Macbeth: Hmm
[01:40] Wol Euler: and some re-arrangement, probably
[01:40] Wol Euler: by the time I get there, the hospital will have sent an inspector to look over the house and make suggestions
[01:40] Wol Euler: on how to make it easier for him to get around
[01:41] Agatha Macbeth: Can he climb stairs?
[01:41] Wol Euler: I believe that the answer to that is "no", even if the hospital made doing so a condition of his release
    [01:41] Agatha Macbeth: Oh dear

[01:41] Wol Euler: mom has been helping him out of chairs and up and down stairs for months now, as far as I know
[01:42] Agatha Macbeth: Can he not sleep downstairs?
[01:43] Wol Euler: um, the house is not as you imagine it :) you're thinking of a British home
    [01:43] Agatha Macbeth: Oh
[01:43] Wol Euler: this is a bungalow, elevated single-storey house with a basement
    [01:43] Agatha Macbeth: Ah
[01:43] Wol Euler: 4 steps up at the entry, then basically everything but services and guest rooms is on that floor
[01:43] Agatha Macbeth: I live in one of those, but with no basement
[01:44] Wol Euler: apart from the half-flight at the entry, he need not cliimb stairs
[01:44] Wol Euler: once/if mom gets a TV upstairs
[01:44] Agatha Macbeth: That's good anyway

[01:45] Agatha Macbeth: I found living on one floor a godsend when I was ill
[01:45] Agatha Macbeth: In one room most of the time, too
    [01:45] Wol Euler nods.
[01:47] Agatha Macbeth: It's so hard when you see someone close to you like that, thinking 'it will be better when s/he's out of it', then feeling guilty for thinking it :(
    [01:48] Wol Euler nods.

[01:48] Wol Euler: "what a drag it is getting old"
[01:48] Agatha Macbeth: This is true
[01:49] Wol Euler: though old itself is not the problem, incapacity is
    [01:49] Agatha Macbeth: Oh absolutely
[01:49] Agatha Macbeth: Wisdom and maturity are a side benefit
[01:49] Wol Euler: assuming one attains them :)

[01:50] Agatha Macbeth: Well I hope I have
[01:50] Wol Euler: bags full of them, my dear
    [01:50] Agatha Macbeth: Aww
    [01:50] Wol Euler smiles.
    [01:50] Agatha Macbeth hugs you
[01:50] Wol Euler grins and hugs back

[01:51] Agatha Macbeth: Good to see Stormy's snow back
    [01:51] Wol Euler: mmhmm
[01:51] Wol Euler: I like winter in SL
[01:51] Wol Euler: I've been skating everywhere
    [01:51] Agatha Macbeth: Moi aussi
[01:51] Agatha Macbeth: Yay for skating
[01:52] Agatha Macbeth: Will have to do plenty of that
    [01:52] Wol Euler grins.

[01:53] Agatha Macbeth: When you put a texture on a prim, is it possible to reduce the size of the texture?
[01:54] Agatha Macbeth: Or contract it rather?
    [01:54] Wol Euler: hmmmm
[01:54] Wol Euler: I believe that the answer is yes
[01:54] Wol Euler: you mean, to display the texture as a small patch in the middle of not-textured?
[01:54] Agatha Macbeth: Well as an example:
[01:55] Agatha Macbeth: If you put a leopard print texture on say a t-sirt, the spots look too far apart
[01:55] Agatha Macbeth: Is there a way to make them more condensed so it looks realistic?
[01:55] Agatha Macbeth: Or put bricks on a wall?
    [01:57] Agatha Macbeth: A small demonstration :p
[01:58] Wol Euler: you can place the texture multiple times, tiling
[01:58] Agatha Macbeth: Would it be possible to reduce that texture to make the spots closer together?
[01:58] Wol Euler: but if it isn't made for that, the edges will show
    [01:58] Agatha Macbeth: Ah, right
[01:58] Wol Euler: yes, but what happens outside it after you do reduce it?
[01:58] Wol Euler: does thte pattern repeat or do you see background?
[01:59] Agatha Macbeth: How would you tile it then?
[01:59] Wol Euler: assuming you have a suitable texture, whose left edge matches right edge etc
[01:59] Wol Euler: tzhen it's an option on the texture page of the edit dialog
[01:59] Agatha Macbeth: Like wallpaper, yes
[01:59] Wol Euler: "repeats per face"
[02:00] Wol Euler: that will automatically scale it down to fill
[02:00] Agatha Macbeth: And where is that on the menu?
    [02:00] Wol Euler: edit dialog
[02:00] Wol Euler: tab called "texture"
    [02:00] Agatha Macbeth: Right, thx
    [02:01] Wol Euler: like that
    [02:01] Wol Euler: a fine example of a not-suitable texture :)
    [02:01] Agatha Macbeth: Aha
[02:01] Agatha Macbeth: that looks about right
[02:02] Wol Euler: you can use fractional repeats to scale it until it looks right
[02:02] Wol Euler: and then the offset to determine where it starts
    [02:03] Agatha Macbeth: Brill
[02:03] Agatha Macbeth: Will that stay set det for any texture, or do you need to do it anew for each?
    [02:04] Agatha Macbeth: (det?)
[02:04] Agatha Macbeth: (I'm talking swedish)
[02:04] Wol Euler: björk björk björk
    [02:04] Agatha Macbeth: LOL
[02:04] Wol Euler: do you mean "will the settings remain onn the prim if I replace the texture"? Not sure
[02:04] Wol Euler: they may be texture based
    [02:04] Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
[02:05] Agatha Macbeth: Ah they DO
    [02:05] Agatha Macbeth: Wonderful
[02:05] Wol Euler: and in any case they would not necessarily apply! how it looks will depend on the scale of your texture
    [02:05] Agatha Macbeth: Indeed

[02:05] Wol Euler: if the white bricks are smaller than the red bricks were, then the settings will be wrong (too small)
    [02:05] Agatha Macbeth nods
[02:06] Agatha Macbeth: Pretty amazing stuff
[02:06] Wol Euler: yeah, it's cool
[02:06] Wol Euler: and it is essential to building well in SL
    [02:06] Agatha Macbeth: True
[02:06] Wol Euler: prims are easy, it's the textures that make what you build look good
    [02:06] Agatha Macbeth: Right
[02:06] Agatha Macbeth: I can rescale my pond wall now :p
    [02:07] Wol Euler smiles.

[02:07] Wol Euler: do you have today off?
[02:07] Agatha Macbeth: Nope, in this afternoon and evening :(
    [02:07] Wol Euler: :(
[02:07] Wol Euler: well, think of all the bags full of money
[02:07] Wol Euler: that you are earning
[02:07] Agatha Macbeth: For the next two sundays at least
    [02:07] Agatha Macbeth: Yes, right
[02:08] Agatha Macbeth: More to spend on SL
[02:08] Agatha Macbeth: Must get another Avid outfit
[02:09] Agatha Macbeth: I was sorry it was the last I ching last night :(
    [02:09] Wol Euler nods.

[02:09] Agatha Macbeth: Sadly, I learned bugger all about the I ching....ah well
    [02:09] Wol Euler: awwwwwwwww :)
[02:10] Agatha Macbeth: Stick to mah jong instead eh
[02:10] Wol Euler: what did you learn, then?
[02:10] Agatha Macbeth: all those dragons and whatnot
    [02:10] Agatha Macbeth: Well...
[02:11] Agatha Macbeth: by the time I started attending the subjects had broadened out into other things

[02:11] Agatha Macbeth: Korel did a talk on native american wisdom for instance
[02:11] Agatha Macbeth: And mick did one on yugas
[02:13] Agatha Macbeth: Shame nothing much seems to have gone on at LS
[02:13] Agatha Macbeth: I was hoping for some good stuff there
[02:14] Wol Euler: what is LS?
    [02:14] Wol Euler: oh, sakura
    [02:14] Agatha Macbeth: La sakura
    [02:14] Wol Euler: right
    [02:14] Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
    [02:16] Agatha Macbeth: Anyways
[02:17] Agatha Macbeth: I'll just go and rearrange my wall then go and get changed
[02:17] Agatha Macbeth: I'm in my dressing gown atm
[02:17] Wol Euler: and I have to start preparing for work
    [02:17] Wol Euler: pj's here :)
    [02:17] Agatha Macbeth: Right
    [02:17] Wol Euler smiles.
    [02:17] Agatha Macbeth: Ha
[02:17] Wol Euler: enjoy the day, dear aggers
[02:17] Agatha Macbeth: Cute ones with teddy bears/
    [02:17] Agatha Macbeth: ?
[02:17] Wol Euler: alas no, dark blue with lighter stripes
    [02:17] Wol Euler: but warm
    [02:17] Agatha Macbeth: Boring :P
    [02:17] Wol Euler: yeah
    [02:18] Agatha Macbeth grins
[02:18] Wol Euler: I'll look for some with teddy bears, then
[02:18] Agatha Macbeth: Would suit you
    [02:18] Wol Euler grins.
[02:18] Agatha Macbeth: Right. Which was is home?
    [02:18] Agatha Macbeth: Aha
    [02:18] Wol Euler: don was
    [02:19] Agatha Macbeth: Don?
    [02:19] Agatha Macbeth: Duck?
[02:19] Wol Euler: was (not was)
[02:19] Agatha Macbeth: I remember them
[02:19] Agatha Macbeth: Long while ago
    [02:19] Agatha Macbeth: Right
[02:20] Agatha Macbeth: Off we go
    [02:20] Agatha Macbeth: ♥
    [02:20] Agatha Macbeth: Ow
    [02:20] Agatha Macbeth: 7sm
