    Eliza Madrigal: Morning
Eliza Madrigal: ty... was zooming on your boots!
    Bleu Oleander: hiya Zon
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zon :)
Bleu Oleander: ha! my ice boots :)
    Zon Kwan: heya
Bleu Oleander: so festive ... all the red

    Zon Kwan: its xmas
    Bleu Oleander: merry merry
Eliza Madrigal: firing up the engines
Bleu Oleander: so every morning our pups get us up at 5:30 am
Bleu Oleander: and since we're up ... I start "programing" out morning haha
Bleu Oleander: we started out discussing and listening about one of my fav books
Bleu Oleander: "the lightness of being"
    Bleu Oleander: by Frank Wilczek
    Zon Kwan: by whom ?
Bleu Oleander: there's a great interview with him
Zon Kwan: is it new ?
    Bleu Oleander: http://bloggingheads.tv/videos/2679?...oggingheads.tv
Eliza Madrigal: am only familiar with the Juliette Binoche film :) but I think I've made note of this book a few times now... ha
Bleu Oleander: not that new but recent
Bleu Oleander: that's the unbearable lightness of being
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Bleu Oleander: Frank says being is bearable
    Bleu Oleander: haha
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Bleu Oleander: anyway he talks about face value
Bleu Oleander: thought it might be an interesting topic?
Bleu Oleander: then juxtaposed to that ....
    Zon Kwan: tell more
Eliza Madrigal: if so bearable why difficult to articulate, to not distract from, to ...etc...
    Bleu Oleander: http://bloggingheads.tv/videos/13863...tv+%28video%29
    Bleu Oleander: subject is "authenticity"
Bleu Oleander: also interesting and related
Bleu Oleander: so that's what I've been up to since 5:30 haha!
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: like the questions formed at the bottom of the screens...
    Bleu Oleander: good questions Eliza
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eliza Madrigal: so in this case what is meant by "face value" ?
Bleu Oleander: what our senses are capable of seeing perhaps?
Bleu Oleander: that there are hidden layers?
    Zon Kwan: afk
    Bleu Oleander: hi Louis
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Louis, welcome
Bleu Oleander: see you are a member of Friends of Being
    Louis Onyett: Hi Bleu, Eliza
Bleu Oleander: have you been here before?
Bleu Oleander: I don't believe I have met you
    Louis Onyett: No, new friend.
Eliza Madrigal: nor I, nice to meet you
Louis Onyett: First meeting, have been reading about it.
Bleu Oleander: "We record these sessions and publish them on our website, http://wiki.playasbeing.org/. May we have your permission to include your SL name and your comments in the published log?"
    Louis Onyett: Yes.
Bleu Oleander: thanks so much and welcome
szavanna Resident: 's current display-name is "Sunshine".
    Bleu Oleander: hey Sunji :)
Eliza Madrigal: what interests you generally, Louis?
    szavanna Resident:
szavanna Resident: Merry Christmas everybody ♥
    Bleu Oleander: merry merry!

Louis Onyett: Hi Sun. Thanks fo rthe 'warm' welcome.
    szavanna Resident: kk :)
    Louis Onyett: :-)
    --BELL--

szavanna Resident: here is a Xmas Teddy for you °͜°
    szavanna Resident: hi Adams °͜°
szavanna Resident: oh its so big
szavanna Resident: lol make it smaller
szavanna Resident: it should be ful perm
Eliza Madrigal: bearable lightness of being
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Adams :)
    Bleu Oleander: haha!
    Adams Rubble: Greetings everyone :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Adams
Eliza Madrigal: Happy Holidays Adams :)
    Eliza Madrigal: @@ Sun
Adams Rubble: May the peace of this holiday season be with you all
    szavanna Resident: ;p
Eliza Madrigal: and also with you ^^
    Bleu Oleander: with u 2 Adams :)
    szavanna Resident: Happy Christmas °͜°
Eliza Madrigal: this is quite a Christmas card picture... save for sleeping Zon.... hehe
    Bleu Oleander: Sunji :))
    szavanna Resident: heh
Bleu Oleander: dwarfed by her bear!
szavanna Resident: I am a big greeting :)
    szavanna Resident: for emphasis °͜°
Bleu Oleander: more than bearable :)
Adams Rubble would say it is good to see you back in PaB again Sun but I have not been here much lately myself but nice to see you again anyway
Adams Rubble: and nice to meet you Louis
szavanna Resident: great to see you also Adams °͜°
szavanna Resident: nice to be back
    Louis Onyett: Likewise, Adams
Adams Rubble: let me interrupt no more :)
szavanna Resident: everyone is ready for christmas?
szavanna Resident: it seems to be such a global celebration
Bleu Oleander: I am now hehe
    szavanna Resident: hehe
Louis Onyett: Delaying prep til last second like every year. Sigh.
Eliza Madrigal: due to a change of plans my grandfather will be here so have been preparing to cook for him... putting up a tree today
    Zon Kwan: back
Louis Onyett: Less crowds at the store on Xmas eve.
    Louis Onyett: :)
Eliza Madrigal: have one in the garage... but you know it hasn't been easy to feel "christmasy" this year
Eliza Madrigal: :) should have Sun around all the time, heheh
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Louis Onyett: A motto to live by. :)
    szavanna Resident: ;))
Zon Kwan: hi Adams, Szavanna, Louis
    Louis Onyett: Hello.
    Adams Rubble: Hello Zon :)
    szavanna Resident: hi Zon °͜°
Bleu Oleander: we had started to talk about "face values"
Bleu Oleander: so could talk about holidays in this light too
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Bleu Oleander: layers of holidays and experiences of them
Bleu Oleander: easy to take on face value
Bleu Oleander: perhaps more rewarding to find the hidden layers?
Eliza Madrigal: I have the opposite affliction....
    Bleu Oleander listens
Eliza Madrigal: think to myself "just take it on face value, just enjoy the festivities and trappings and stop reading into everything!"
Eliza Madrigal: I feel afflicted by meaning sometimes :)
Bleu Oleander: the reading into is where the meaning comes from for me :)
    Zon Kwan: ty Szavanna :)
Bleu Oleander: afflicted by meaning ... say more?
Zon Kwan: so is face value a good thing or not ?
Eliza Madrigal: hm.... meaning may not be the perfect word for what I mean... but there is a desiire toward simplicity
Eliza Madrigal: whereas it is easy for me to be excavating layers all the time
Adams Rubble: We may often forget the holiday can be what we want to make it
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Zon Kwan: smiles to Eliza..but there are layers and layers
Adams Rubble: One of the davnatages of getting older is that Christmas can become more simple :)
Eliza Madrigal smiles back at Zon... so there are
Bleu Oleander: by the nature of being we do meet things on our own terms I think
    Louis Onyett: How so Bleu?
    --BELL--

    Santoshima Resident: 's current display-name is "s a n".
Bleu Oleander: experience the world subjectively Louis
    Bleu Oleander: hi san :)
    szavanna Resident: hi San °͜°
    Adams Rubble: Hello Santoshima :)
Eliza Madrigal: what can our 'our own terms' be in lives we share with others?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi San :)
    Zon Kwan: hi San
Bleu Oleander: mesh our terms together?
Louis Onyett: Well, subjectivity is how I see
Bleu Oleander: see commonalities in vision and understanding
Louis Onyett: No one else can truly see from my perspective
    Bleu Oleander: right
Louis Onyett: though we can share common thoughts
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Santoshima Resident: { helloo }
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Adams Rubble: Eliza, maybe we can just love them
Louis Onyett: Memes, and more simply emotions.
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Adams
Bleu Oleander: wonderful to move ideas between people ... come to understand each other ... theory of mind perhaps?
Louis Onyett: I assume my experience of love, hunger, etc is close to yours
Bleu Oleander: can compare notes in a way
Louis Onyett: Though could be wrong, withuot spending time to compare notes. :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander: actually what we do here
Adams Rubble: We are bombarded with advertising telling us love means buying something
    Zon Kwan: collective subjectivity ?
Louis Onyett: Shheeesh, and that beauty is skinny for women, and hulk like fo rmen
Eliza Madrigal: yes there is a 'image' of love
Adams Rubble: cost of love keeps going up and up faster than the national debt
Louis Onyett: And all must be 23 or so yrs old. lol
    Eliza Madrigal looks around
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Louis Onyett: Only just over 2 myself. ;-)
Bleu Oleander: so what is face value and should we look for more?
    Eliza Madrigal grins
    Louis Onyett: Depends
    Bleu Oleander: on?
Zon Kwan: is there anyone who is not 23 ?
    Louis Onyett: Context.
Bleu Oleander: context ... yes ... very interesting to think about
Louis Onyett: When we need to look deeply we can
Bleu Oleander: what does that mean to you?
Louis Onyett: But, we can forget to look sometimes
    Santoshima Resident: we?
Louis Onyett: And are blinded by assumptions when we do that
    Zon Kwan: more..always more
Eliza Madrigal: assumptions as default? conditioning...
Bleu Oleander: assumptions ... need some ... don't need others?
Louis Onyett: Yes. Default. Since birth or so I suppose.
Louis Onyett: When are they needed might be a good question.
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eliza Madrigal: context is the most fascinating thing, when considering "authenticity" or face value, because context arises faster than moment by moment
Bleu Oleander: context is interesting to think about re SL
Louis Onyett: To percieve without perception...quite a trick
Eliza Madrigal: that reality would be quite 'impossible'
Bleu Oleander: the degree in which we create our own contexts
    Santoshima Resident: bye
Zon Kwan: can someone give an example ?
    Adams Rubble: bye San :)
    Bleu Oleander: bye san
Zon Kwan: of face value or context ?
Eliza Madrigal: :) I can maybe
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: a simple one...
    Zon Kwan: yes please
Eliza Madrigal: a christmas letter comes in the mail... from relatives one hasn't heard from all year...
Eliza Madrigal: it is full of itemized list of vacations and accomplishments
Eliza Madrigal: and feels 'at first' like a kind of defensive letter
Eliza Madrigal: but if I back up farther and look at what they are saying...
szavanna Resident: ( sorry was afk for a bit - but back °͜°
Eliza Madrigal: knowing who they are over the years...
Eliza Madrigal: I can see that they are reaching to say "we're still in the game, plugging along'
Eliza Madrigal: just in the gesture of hello there is something important
Eliza Madrigal: and >whew< no big tragedies this year for them
Bleu Oleander: perhaps a crystalizing of their own history ... not a re-writing exactly but a coming to an understanding for them?
Eliza Madrigal: yes in a way
Eliza Madrigal: "what else is true"
Zon Kwan: so that is context
Bleu Oleander: how we agree to tell our story?
Zon Kwan: but not face value ?
Bleu Oleander: edited face value hehe
Eliza Madrigal: does part of me wish "man, I would love to have a meaningful talk about the nature of love and universe with them" but I don't think it would happen by calling and asking directly.. maybe I'm wrong :)
    Eliza Madrigal laughs... yes
Zon Kwan: or going to layers
Eliza Madrigal: and that's also a kind of agenda on my part for wanting that
    --BELL--

Louis Onyett: You could try the direct approach and get back to us.
Louis Onyett: I bet it would be interesting.
    Louis Onyett: :-)
Bleu Oleander: perhaps a diff context is needed?
    Eliza Madrigal smiles widely
Bleu Oleander: PaB is a context that is conducive to that kind of conversation
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
    Adams Rubble: :)
Eliza Madrigal: (and wb Sun :)
    szavanna Resident: smiles at Liz
szavanna Resident: hmm for me always new angles to consider
szavanna Resident: I am the first of my kind hehe and starting a new tribe in africa
    Bleu Oleander: :)
szavanna Resident: no special traditions ...I need to invent new ones
Louis Onyett: This is more of tribe than group?
Zon Kwan: what is the name of the new tribe ?
    szavanna Resident: hehe
Bleu Oleander: what is the distinction?
szavanna Resident: never thought of a name lol
Louis Onyett: I've never been in a tribe. Let alone one in South africa.
    Bleu Oleander: tribe vs group?
    Louis Onyett: I like it.
szavanna Resident: hungaro-south african open source and jazz lovers tribe
    szavanna Resident: ;D
    Bleu Oleander: ((( sunji )))
Zon Kwan: you need shorter name
    Eliza Madrigal: open context
    szavanna Resident: ((( Bleuji ;))
Louis Onyett: How many are in the Hsaosajlt?
    Zon Kwan: lol
    szavanna Resident: hehe
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
    szavanna Resident: 3
    szavanna Resident: °͜°
    Eliza Madrigal: small tribe
Louis Onyett: That's three letters per tribe member. Wow.
    szavanna Resident: yes tiny :)
Zon Kwan: call it Szavanna tribe
    szavanna Resident: lol
    szavanna Resident: giggles
Louis Onyett: Takes your giggle at face value. Grinning.
    szavanna Resident: ;))
    Bleu Oleander smiles
Zon Kwan: or go to deeper layers
szavanna Resident: ok not really a new tribe ... its an opportunity for me to be open minded
szavanna Resident: and become one tribe one day ,,,, another ..the next
Eliza Madrigal pictures the open vastness of the savanna...
Adams Rubble: I must go now but I hope you all have a warm, peaceful holiday whaatever the context :)
    szavanna Resident: mmm yes
    Louis Onyett: stunning imagery Eliza
Bleu Oleander: are tribes by their face value exclusive rather than inclusive?
Eliza Madrigal: So nice to see you Adams :)
    Bleu Oleander: bye Adams :)
    Bleu Oleander: take care
szavanna Resident: yes you too Adams - have a loving time whatever the context
    Eliza Madrigal: Happy Holidays Wishes
    Zon Kwan: bye Adams
Louis Onyett: The Hsoasajltians are an exclusive bunch, judging by their numbers.
Bleu Oleander: complex challenge to celebrate our "groupishness" and be open at the same time
    szavanna Resident: yes hmmm
    Louis Onyett: True Blue.
    Eliza Madrigal: very much so
    Bleu Oleander: balance perhaps
    Louis Onyett: :)
szavanna Resident: Liz was talking about that alone and together thing
Bleu Oleander: to be all inclusive and selective at the same time
Bleu Oleander: so thinking about celebrations
Louis Onyett: Hmmm....if lucky to be with loving souls, both work
Eliza Madrigal: I've been thinking of this quote I read a few days ago... Nisargadatta... who said even saying "I am a ___" is violence. I was shocked by the line and couldn't agree
Eliza Madrigal: and yet also couldn't disagree with where he was coming from
Bleu Oleander: I don't agree with that
Eliza Madrigal: what he was 'meaning' to say
    Bleu Oleander: however ... yes
szavanna Resident: Love says "I am everything". Wisdom says "I am nothing". Between the two, my life flows. Nisargadatta
Louis Onyett: What about "I am a pacifist"
    Eliza Madrigal: yes <3
Bleu Oleander: the need to define ourselves
    szavanna Resident:
    szavanna Resident: ♥
    Bleu Oleander: I am loving
szavanna Resident: we can't just be nothing hmm
    Bleu Oleander: I am compassionate
Eliza Madrigal: right.... his point is that the label is never the thing
szavanna Resident: I would prefer to be love
Eliza Madrigal: but of course we connect with things
Bleu Oleander: the labels are how we understand the thing
    Louis Onyett: Or light, Sun?
    szavanna Resident scrateches head ;p
Zon Kwan: i am identifying my self to this and that
szavanna Resident: light is nice °͜°
Eliza Madrigal: yes Bleu... how we share... notes
Eliza Madrigal: his book title is "I Am That"
    szavanna Resident: yes hmm
    Eliza Madrigal: so :)
Louis Onyett: Neat to be the fastest thing.
    szavanna Resident: :))
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Bleu Oleander: so the questions is does language create our understanding and in a way limit our understanding?
Zon Kwan: who is this I and what is this that
szavanna Resident: language is a tool ...I think
Eliza Madrigal: seussical genius Zon :)
szavanna Resident: if used right ...it helps to go deeper
    Zon Kwan: lol
    Eliza Madrigal nods Sun
Bleu Oleander: can we only understand what we can describe with language?
Louis Onyett: Language limits our ability to communicate our undersatnding...not sure it limits what we understand
Zon Kwan: but to get even deeper language must be dropped
Eliza Madrigal: I think we can experience far more than language can capture
    Louis Onyett: Yes Zon.
Bleu Oleander: so can we think without language?
Eliza Madrigal: we can 'heart think'
    --BELL--

szavanna Resident: language, music, body language, art work ... different things put together gives better understanding
Bleu Oleander: try to think of nothing ... nothing has boundaries of somethings
    szavanna Resident:
    szavanna Resident: heart think ♥
    Eliza Madrigal waves to Zon
Bleu Oleander: take care Zon :)
szavanna Resident: take care Zon ;)) happy holidays
    Bleu Oleander: heart think :)
Zon Kwan: waves, merry Xmas to everyone
    szavanna Resident: Merryyymerryyy ❤
    Eliza Madrigal: say more Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: can we know what nothing is?
    Bleu Oleander: without the somethings?
szavanna Resident: hmm its all just words no?
Bleu Oleander: nothing every time I picture it is framed by something
    szavanna Resident: nothing ...something ...
Bleu Oleander: just words but words that try to describe what we're thinking
Eliza Madrigal: maybe so... an proportions I wonder whether is the difference between a felt openness or boundedness
    Eliza Madrigal: nothing bordered
Bleu Oleander: at some point the border pops in
Bleu Oleander: to give meaning to the openness?
Eliza Madrigal: yes.. to play the feeling
    szavanna Resident ponders
    Eliza Madrigal: me too :)
    Bleu Oleander: me too :))
szavanna Resident: sometimes its a bit hard .... to be nothing
Bleu Oleander: possible to be nothing?
szavanna Resident: since I moved to another continent ...lost of my history is gone
szavanna Resident: so there are times when I feel like .... I am air
Bleu Oleander: exists as your memories
    szavanna Resident: its strange
szavanna Resident: its a bit like being nothing
Bleu Oleander: like losing a loved one?
Louis Onyett: Brave move to hop to another continent.
    szavanna Resident: hmm noo Bleuji
    szavanna Resident: its just emptiness
Louis Onyett: Without tp assist to get home
Bleu Oleander: felt like that when I moved to Arizona haha
szavanna Resident: but different from losing a loved one
szavanna Resident: see ..its something like that
    Louis Onyett: Ouch to Arizona.
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
szavanna Resident: hehe whats wrong with Arizona?
Bleu Oleander: NYC to AZ ... culture shock haha
Bleu Oleander: I love it now :))
    szavanna Resident: NYC mmm
Bleu Oleander: I created my own context :)
    szavanna Resident: love NYC
Eliza Madrigal considers the similarities between a vast open savanna and endless desert
Louis Onyett: NYC is a little more crowded.
Bleu Oleander: yes, I love NYC too
szavanna Resident: u see Bleu - you started a tribe too
    szavanna Resident: sort of °͜°
    Bleu Oleander: exactly
Bleu Oleander: can't help it haha
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Louis Onyett: the NYC'rs that relocated to AZ?
szavanna Resident: "The Bleus" new soapie coming to your TV screen soon ;p
Bleu Oleander: in a way yes :)
Eliza Madrigal: in big cities you can change your context every day in some ways
    Bleu Oleander: can here too
Louis Onyett: The New Blues maybe even
    szavanna Resident: new bleus °͜°
Bleu Oleander: have re-made myself many times
Bleu Oleander: although not as many as in sl haha
Louis Onyett: Hmmmm, tough to be close to people when out about in a big city
    szavanna Resident: lol Bleuji
Eliza Madrigal: lately each time I am standing in a line or am in a big crowd I wonder at the strangeness of not recognizing more people - like living in an airport :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Bleu Oleander: amazing how many people we don't know or even recognize
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Louis Onyett: Yes, so strange. Even in my neighborhood
    Bleu Oleander: exactly
Louis Onyett: Hardly know a soul and surrounded by families.
    Bleu Oleander: dogs help
szavanna Resident: yes isn't it strange
Bleu Oleander: dogs have a knack for that ... meeting strangers :)
Louis Onyett: Dogs are awesome as a general rule.
Eliza Madrigal: freedom in anonymity - alone together
szavanna Resident: hmm a bit like ..meditating in a group
Louis Onyett: Hard not to start a conversation when your hound i snuzzling someone
Bleu Oleander: we meet so many people when we hang with our pups :)
szavanna Resident: u don't talk ...but you are in each others presence
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal nods Sun
    Bleu Oleander: :) Louis
    szavanna Resident: lol Louis
Bleu Oleander: so do dogs take us at face value?
Bleu Oleander: just to bring it back haha
    --BELL--

    Eliza Madrigal: persistent Bleu, lol
    Bleu Oleander: :D
    Eliza Madrigal: ((((Bleu))))))
Louis Onyett: Love to lick our faces, at least. :)
szavanna Resident: face value means - not analysing things ..just taking it as it comes?
Bleu Oleander: the low hanging fruit hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Louis Onyett: And, perhaps retraining ourselves to NOT read in anything
Eliza Madrigal: maybe that's the ripest and juciest
    Bleu Oleander: perhaps!
    Eliza Madrigal: integrated meaning
Bleu Oleander: no need to reach?
    Eliza Madrigal: ready, yes
Louis Onyett: Doesn't it seem strange that face value might really mean
Bleu Oleander: is that all there is?
Louis Onyett: You are willing to accept one based on how you read their intentions
    Bleu Oleander: theory of mind
Louis Onyett: In some ways, face value for people can mean we accept someone as honest.
Louis Onyett: Just cause that is the feeling we get from looking.
Eliza Madrigal: benefit of the doubt
Bleu Oleander: so how we see ...
Louis Onyett: Yes, benefit of the doubt. we don't look fo rmore
Bleu Oleander: layers we see through
Bleu Oleander: details we attend to
Eliza Madrigal: I've always loved that image though... of layers... but transparencies... so no real boundaries
Eliza Madrigal: and yet texture and dimension
Bleu Oleander: special values of face value :)
szavanna Resident: layers and transparencies °͜°
Louis Onyett: Erm, layers of transperncies? Opaque like bone china plates stacked and looked at through the sun.
Bleu Oleander: Frank Wilczek (link earlier) is coming to AZ and will speak with our group on "hidden layers"
    Eliza Madrigal: pearly!
    Louis Onyett: Pearly, yes.
Bleu Oleander: I love to hear what he has to say ... feel illuminated
Eliza Madrigal: when will you begin recording these Bleu? :))
    Bleu Oleander: haha
Eliza Madrigal: how do we get bootlegs?
Bleu Oleander: more like sand paintings
    Bleu Oleander: need to experience
Louis Onyett: Good day to all. Bye for now.
Eliza Madrigal smiles... feel quite full, thank you all
    Bleu Oleander: ok bye Louis
    Bleu Oleander: take care
    szavanna Resident: byebyee Louis °͜°
Eliza Madrigal: nice to meet you Louis
    szavanna Resident: hapy holidays
    szavanna Resident: °͜°
Bleu Oleander: yes lovely to have this conversation
    szavanna Resident: +p ;D
    Bleu Oleander: merry merry
Eliza Madrigal: we are pearly layers
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander: sharing our special pearls
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: I'd better go too....
    Eliza Madrigal: hungry now :)
    Bleu Oleander: hugs
    Eliza Madrigal: hugs
    szavanna Resident: hugssss ;))
szavanna Resident: see u soon ❤
szavanna Resident: that was a great chat
    Eliza Madrigal: ♥ ♥ ♥
    Eliza Madrigal: it was
    Bleu Oleander: thank you all!
Eliza Madrigal: thanks for hosting Bleu
Bleu Oleander: bye and take care :)
szavanna Resident: oh love your dress
    szavanna Resident: byebyeeee
