The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.

Wol Euler, Paradise Tennant, Bleu Oleande, Lila Darkmatter and Louis Onyett joined us

    stevenaia Michinaga: greetings Wol
Wol Euler: greetings to you too, stevie
    stevenaia Michinaga: welcome PAradise
    Wol Euler: hello paradise
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya stev ..wol :) nice to see you two :)
stevenaia Michinaga: we are having quite the storm, snow, sleet, rain, freezing
Paradise Tennant: yes here too very brrrry
Wol Euler: in Toronto (so far) just some gentle snow, just an inch or so
Wol Euler: but up to 10 inches forecast
    Paradise Tennant: gentle snow ?
stevenaia Michinaga: cat keeps wanting to go outside until I open the door, then asks again an hour later hoping it past
Paradise Tennant: it is whirring on the water
stevenaia Michinaga: wow, that's a good snow
    Paradise Tennant: yes smiles :)
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
stevenaia Michinaga: we just have a bit of ice over a bit of snow
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Bleu
    Paradise Tennant: hiya bleu
    Bleu Oleander: hiya :)
Wol Euler: hello bleu, happy boxing day
    Bleu Oleander: to you 2!
stevenaia Michinaga: is that when you throw all the boxes away?
    Paradise Tennant: smiles yep
stevenaia Michinaga: brb, tea is ready
    Bleu Oleander: how is everyone?
    Wol Euler: full of sugar
Wol Euler: otherwise fine :) and you?
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Bleu Oleander: ha! full of sugar 2
Bleu Oleander: just had the last of the icecream :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: back
    Wol Euler: wb
stevenaia Michinaga: too cold for ice cream
    Bleu Oleander: not here :)
Wol Euler: incredibly hot indoors :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: fire burning?
Wol Euler: my father's circulation is weak, so he's always cold
Wol Euler: the rest of us are sweating as he shivers
    Paradise Tennant: hmmmm

    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: down blankies work :))
    Wol Euler: brb
stevenaia Michinaga: shall we nibble at the theme tonight? "Solitude and loneliness", -inspired by Alone Together. Anyone know where the inspiration is from?
Bleu Oleander: looking it up ...
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.amazon.ca/Alone-Others-Existential-Approach-Buddhism/dp/0802151272
stevenaia Michinaga: asking person who cited it
Paradise Tennant: simon batchelor i suspect ..
    stevenaia Michinaga: steven bachelor
    Paradise Tennant: lol
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
    Bleu Oleander: Stephen lol
    stevenaia Michinaga: oh, hmm
    Wol Euler: back
stevenaia Michinaga: from Buce I am told
Paradise Tennant: smiles between the 3 of us we will get it right :))
    stevenaia Michinaga: *Bruce
Wol Euler: solitude is harder to find than loneliness
stevenaia Michinaga: in any case, not sure I have been alone for a very long time
stevenaia Michinaga: let me rephase... I ahve not experienced loneliness in a very long time
stevenaia Michinaga: but I suspect either can exist in very large crowds
Bleu Oleander: do you ever experience loneliness in sl?
Wol Euler: I feel less lonely on my own than sitting with people who are silently watching TV
Wol Euler: hello lila, happy boxing day
    Bleu Oleander: hi Lila :)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya lila
    Lila Darkmatter: Happy Boxing Day
    stevenaia Michinaga: Hello Lila
Bleu Oleander: I think that's true for me too Wol
    Lila Darkmatter nods
Paradise Tennant: dogs some how just suck all the loneliness out of a room they are to be highly recommended :)
    Lila Darkmatter: :)
    Wol Euler chuckles.
Lila Darkmatter: do you think loneliness might be an aspect of personality for some?
    Bleu Oleander: haha!
Wol Euler: that it might be a permanent condition? I suppose it could
Lila Darkmatter: I'm highly social and soak people up but I'm not sure that I don't always feel lonely at core... not necessarily in a sad way but as hm, something
Bleu Oleander: I think some may feel lonely where others might not ... perhaps due to their personalities?
Wol Euler: feeling out of place, perhaps
Lila Darkmatter: yes that's what I'm wondering, nods
Wol Euler: avocado among bananas, as it were
    Bleu Oleander: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: even when not lonley, it is almost always better to experience something with a friend
    Paradise Tennant: nods
Paradise Tennant: friends are the riches of life
stevenaia Michinaga: each has its place
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, friend are a step toward immortaility as you impart part of yourself to another
    Lila Darkmatter: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: (Assuming they out live you, ofcourse)
    Wol Euler smiles.

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: :)
Paradise Tennant: hmmm i think if you surrender .. to what is .. you become part of it .. there is a feeling of connectedness that does just require other bodies ..
Paradise Tennant: it is just there
stevenaia Michinaga: is Lila a mist to everyone or just me?
    Wol Euler: me too, alas
    Bleu Oleander: me too
    Lila Darkmatter: hm (rebakes)
Wol Euler: thought it was my laggy connection
Wol Euler: which is why I didn't bother to say :)
Bleu Oleander: ah there you are :)
Lila Darkmatter rememberings reading a book titled Misty as a child :)
stevenaia Michinaga: like a condesing fog
Wol Euler: ah, much better :)
    Wol Euler: nicely eclectic appearance
Lila Darkmatter: :) some of it chosen for me by SL viewer that made some substitutions
    stevenaia Michinaga: Para, so surrender=dropping?
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Paradise Tennant: well more like meshing
Paradise Tennant: so you weave in a bit ..not such a distinct and alone you
stevenaia Michinaga: not the same thing?
Paradise Tennant: hmm don't think so
Paradise Tennant: what does stephen batchelor think of all this ?
Wol Euler whistles "girl from ipanema" as she looks up his phone number
Lila Darkmatter: there is a wonderful feeling to people sitting in the same room each doing their own thing while not intruding on one another... sort of blending/overlapping/sharing without coersion...
Lila Darkmatter: maybe that's the feeling
    Wol Euler: true
Wol Euler: contact is the thing, not necessarily speech
Lila Darkmatter: a tv removes that option in a way
    Wol Euler: exactly
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Lila Darkmatter: unless all are agreed
Wol Euler: tv swallows attention, creates a kind of vacuum in the room
    Lila Darkmatter nods
Lila Darkmatter: (although watching dr who with the kids tonight was very bonding)
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: ah, shared attention
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Wol Euler: the reason I don't feel connected to the TV watchers is my aggressive disinterest in their program
Bleu Oleander: TV can hijack others' presence I think ... making one sense loneliness
Lila Darkmatter nods.. interesting way to say that
stevenaia Michinaga: people working in quiet still creates a silent "hum" of energy in the space
Wol Euler: so actually, I am cutting them off. hmmmmm.
    Lila Darkmatter: :)
    Wol Euler nods to Bleu
Lila Darkmatter: it can also be lonely if everyone is on quiet separate computers though... so I suppose there is just something in the stance and openness with which anything is approached?
Paradise Tennant: always go to the kitchen personally find hanging out there making tea making whatever is the most connecitve room in the house
Wol Euler: kitchens are the therapy couch of most houses :)
Lila Darkmatter: :) tea is a good trick
Paradise Tennant: yes :) shared rituals bond us
    stevenaia Michinaga: like food
Lila Darkmatter: Hi Louis, welcome back
    Bleu Oleander: hiya Louis :)
    Wol Euler: hello louis
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Louis

    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: blue and i have rituals .. little games .. if I mess up he barks at me .. oh geez mom .. what are you thinking that is not how we play this game
Louis Onyett: Rituals, games, family, all vital for happiness
    Louis Onyett: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: Play :)
    Lila Darkmatter smiles widely
Bleu Oleander: my pups and I do the same Para :)
Louis Onyett: Yes, and will always enjoy some bickering in good spirits as play with my family
Lila Darkmatter: suppose that's a sign of health/cushioning in a family... can absorb the bickering and call it play
Louis Onyett: To wit, am fascinated by 'Darkmatter'
    Wol Euler nods.
stevenaia Michinaga: that is part of the ritual, typically no harm done
Louis Onyett: And yet, her sits Lila. I am glad to meet you.
Louis Onyett: And the rest of you, of course.
Lila Darkmatter: nice to meet you also Louis
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: likewise
    Louis Onyett: <<wonders br="" caffeine="" dark="" for="" if="" is="" partially="" responsible="">

(the line above was somehow scrambled in the log, something like: "caffeine is partially responsible for dark matter")

Wol Euler: at this time of the day/night? very likely :)
Lila Darkmatter: oftentimes seems to be
Louis Onyett: Lila may be on the way to a unification theory and the Nobel in physics
    Wol Euler cheers!
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Lila Darkmatter: play is my theory of everything
Paradise Tennant: smiles what a great theory :)))))
Louis Onyett: The theory of happiness then
    Louis Onyett: Theory of Happiness=TOP
Louis Onyett: the TOP theory in a way
    Lila Darkmatter: :) nice
Lila Darkmatter: the great question... a happy universe... whether everything or nothing is a miracle
stevenaia Michinaga: it can keep lonliness at bay
Wol Euler: I think we are surrounded by miracles, we just don't notice them any more
Louis Onyett: I started with a bunch of nothing and have most of it left
Paradise Tennant: smiles at wol so so so so true !
Louis Onyett: Does that start to answer that
    Lila Darkmatter: indeed Wol
Bleu Oleander: what is a miracle?
Paradise Tennant: each and every breath
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: and each beat of our hearts
Louis Onyett: Yes, every breath, every moment, miracles all
Louis Onyett: what in facts is not a miracle
Louis Onyett: If only because every electron, piece of time, level of energy had to be just right for us to even meet
Lila Darkmatter: someone tweeted earlier: We live inside a slowly unfolding miracle, trying every moment to convince ourselves that no....this is just normal. This is ordinary.
Paradise Tennant: so if each heartbeat is a miracle we on average get 86,400 miracles a day wow
Wol Euler: yes, lila, I saw that too! very true
Louis Onyett: If each electron location, spin, energy level is likewise a miracle
Louis Onyett: I've lost count before leaving my house
stevenaia Michinaga: wunders who (What) spun the first electron
Louis Onyett: Ahhh, the higgs boson had a lot to do with it
    Louis Onyett: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: the universe is a perpetual motion machine
Lila Darkmatter: did anyone see the article that there may be two types found...? ah where where (plunders)
Louis Onyett: at least in theory, they hope several will be, apparently.
Wol Euler: two types of miracles? or of bosons?
    Paradise Tennant: http://cheezburger.com/6399592960
Louis Onyett: Standard model of physics, not so standar after all
Lila Darkmatter: "each moment is the universe"

    --BELL--

Lila Darkmatter: I must say goodnight (zz so sleepy), but here is the article - just a side track :) : http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/2012/12/14/have-scientists-found-two-different-higgs-bosons/

Lila Darkmatter: was lovely to see you all
Paradise Tennant: nite nite lila :)) sweet dreams
Wol Euler: goodnight lila, sweet dreams
    Bleu Oleander: nite Lila :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: thanks Lila
Lila Darkmatter: sweet dreams frinds :) Night
    Wol Euler smiles.
    stevenaia Michinaga: hmm, http://iai.tv/video/search-for-the-higgs-boson
stevenaia Michinaga: better to listen than read about some things
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Louis Onyett: Quite fascination that thought experiments are done 30 years before we can build the test equipment to find the answer already thought of on paper
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: that Einstein was a clever sod.
    Wol Euler: and no mistake.
Louis Onyett: Quickly: so many scientists have been, but yes, he was almost unbelievable
Louis Onyett: The higgs field discovery kinda like Einstein and relativity.
Louis Onyett: Just sitting down and thinking: Hmmmmm how must the fundamental particle in creation work.
Louis Onyett: I've got it, and imagine a scenario that explains some things that were bothering me last summer
Bleu Oleander: brain starts hurting at that level of thinking :)
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Louis Onyett: And, they get it absolutely right, when these particles are not even understood, wow
Paradise Tennant: and it means exactly ?
Bleu Oleander: "means" ... now that's an interesting question :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: to whom?
    Bleu Oleander: haha!
Louis Onyett: Ahhh, I think it means in practice, we will have a 3D sl experience in less than 30 yrs where I'll be able to shake your hand and feel you shake back.
stevenaia Michinaga: a living for some (searching for meaning)
    Louis Onyett: lol
stevenaia Michinaga: aww, the begining of smell-o-vision
Louis Onyett: Though, flying cars and landing on mars still not likely by then
stevenaia Michinaga: only a matter of time
Louis Onyett: Landing people on mars
    Wol Euler: I disagree
Louis Onyett: that is. Sure, remote control cars, that's easy.
    Louis Onyett: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: which part
Wol Euler: I think we will run out of the money and energy resoures to do that
    Wol Euler: (mars)
Bleu Oleander: it all comes down to money
Wol Euler: of course, or alas.
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Paradise Tennant: maybe money is like a higgs boson particle if you leave it be it usually multiplies
Louis Onyett: Let's not forget, Wol points out a definite limiting factor that could change our future
Bleu Oleander: ha! not been my experience
Louis Onyett: others are unforseen terrible wars (all are of course, mean terrible on scale)
Paradise Tennant: smiles at bleu and hands her a sock to put under her mattress
    --BELL--
    Bleu Oleander: ty :))
Louis Onyett: Or, just a really nasty flu that wipes out most of us
Bleu Oleander: night all ... pups need their walk :)
Wol Euler: wiping out 8% or so of us would probably be enough to end western civilization
Wol Euler: bye bleu, take care, walk well
Paradise Tennant: nite nite bleu :)) sweet dreams
    Bleu Oleander: bye bye :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye
    Louis Onyett: Lucky pups. Bye.
Wol Euler: as long as we are being pessimistic and morbid :)
stevenaia Michinaga: well don;t viruses have as much right to exist as we do?
    Wol Euler: my opinion? no
stevenaia Michinaga: I agree, but a questions needed to be asked
    Wol Euler smiles.
Louis Onyett: And, regardless, the things that may happen that impact us globally cannot be foreseen....but we have seen them many times in history
Louis Onyett: Usually not some BRAND NEW thing, you know?
stevenaia Michinaga: I must be off to bed, nice meeting you and feel free to drop by again
    stevenaia Michinaga: Louis
    Wol Euler: me too
Paradise Tennant: nite nite stev :))
Wol Euler: goodnight, stevie, and goodnight everyone else
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Para
    stevenaia Michinaga: Wol
Wol Euler: take care, sweet dreams
    Louis Onyett: Nite all
    Paradise Tennant: nite nite wol
Paradise Tennant: take care louis was lovely to meet you :))
Louis Onyett: Same here. Very nice.
