The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza Madrigal.
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eos!
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: How is your Monday?
Eos Amaterasu: Hmm, start of a week
Eos Amaterasu: just did a quick pass thru the Dome
Eos Amaterasu: and Clarity exhibition
Eliza Madrigal: full of clarity
Eliza Madrigal: impressions?
Eos Amaterasu: I did not have time enough to spend with each exhibit
Eos Amaterasu: nice to see the energetic creativity
Eliza Madrigal nods.... some of the exhibits surprise me each time I go back
Eliza Madrigal: others are simply thoughtfulness shown
Eos Amaterasu: different languages for opening the clarity of being....
Eliza Madrigal: nice way to say that...and nice segue
Eos Amaterasu: we doin' jazz, eh
Eliza Madrigal: so
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: how are you doing, Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: my knowledge of other languages is quite limited, so I've been thinking mostly about the sounds and tones of languages... for instance what makes a language more romantic than another, or more utilitarian.... if language is shaped by landscape of the lands...that kind of thing
Eliza Madrigal: re this week's topic
Eliza Madrigal: as for how doing I could answer in too many ways so there is no answer :)
Eliza Madrigal: but thank you for asking
Eos Amaterasu ((bows))
Eliza Madrigal: *
Eos Amaterasu: human languages have different feelings
Eliza Madrigal: feeling tones?
Eos Amaterasu: yes....
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Stevenaia :)
Eos Amaterasu: hi stevenaia...
Eos Amaterasu: we have strayed onto this week's topic of language
stevenaia Michinaga: waves, I was wondering where that came from when I saw (heard) Korel and Bruce discussing it
stevenaia Michinaga: what is tonights topic
Eliza Madrigal: interesting the way you specified 'human language' Eos...
Eliza Madrigal: today my younger daughter is ill and the cat has stayed near her, purring so loudly....
Eliza Madrigal: all around her all day
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eos Amaterasu: yes, hmm, I think we have languages on many levels
stevenaia Michinaga: reading session up to this point, thanks Eliza
Eos Amaterasu: some of which we can experience in animal or plant form
Eos Amaterasu: (like Life of Pi)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: but I was also thinking of music, for example, as language
Eliza Madrigal: mmm
Eos Amaterasu: capable of expressing and opening to great subtlety
stevenaia Michinaga: across differing cultures
Eos Amaterasu: yes, and also within them, but then also crossing into strange mixes
stevenaia Michinaga: I often think of music like religion, or philosophy... some resonate, others do not
stevenaia Michinaga: the nature of the mind
Eos Amaterasu: "if you don't swing, don't ring"
Eos Amaterasu: (inscription, in Latin, at door of Playboy Club)
stevenaia Michinaga: lol I won;t ask how you know that
Eliza Madrigal laughs
Eos Amaterasu: quirk of memory :-)
Eos Amaterasu: si non oscillare, non tintinarre
Eliza Madrigal: was listening to this earlier (came on the radio)... changed the whole feeling of the house: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF9fUdoYNNU
Eliza Madrigal: amazes me how quickly music can do that... bypass whatever seemed to be going on
Eos Amaterasu: cello and piano mutualing away....
Eliza Madrigal: like "no, let's go here..."
stevenaia Michinaga: loading slowly, here's something to make the post 12-21 go better http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=YcJY22wFpFg
Eos Amaterasu: how to capture the moments you're in: music
Eliza Madrigal: :) will get there soon
Eliza Madrigal: what are you expecting for 12-21?
Eos Amaterasu: same backward as forward?
Eliza Madrigal grins
stevenaia Michinaga: maya calendar
stevenaia Michinaga: the day the odometer rolls over
stevenaia Michinaga: (save it for later)
Eos Amaterasu: for lack of a calendar the world ended
Eliza Madrigal: details...details...
stevenaia Michinaga: Chopin is so much better
Eliza Madrigal: one thing I find interesting, is that the energy of people paying attention to this does seem to generate its own 'something'
stevenaia Michinaga: their very own "Jonestown'
Eliza Madrigal: well... let's hope none of that...
Eliza Madrigal: but expectation that breeds some sort of openness
Eliza Madrigal: in some cases
Eos Amaterasu: like dropping something
Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eos Amaterasu: what if there were no calendar for the day after tomorrow
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: our vocabulary for time
Eliza Madrigal imagines a week without day or time-keeping
stevenaia Michinaga: I saw you mentioned the Art Dome project earlier, so many flavors fo Clarity
Eliza Madrigal: nice feeling in the dome isn't it
Eos Amaterasu: like different flowers opening
stevenaia Michinaga: many I am unable to comprehend
stevenaia Michinaga: strange considering it's all about one simple word
Eliza Madrigal: notes are crucial this time :)
Eliza Madrigal: and yes, good point
Eos Amaterasu: RTFN :-)
Eliza Madrigal: hm? :)
Eos Amaterasu: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM
stevenaia Michinaga: I found the note that don't explain, but offer enhancement (poems or quotes) feel much better
Eos Amaterasu: in this case, Note rather than Manual
Eliza Madrigal: hehehhee
Eliza Madrigal: agree generally - that let one come to own clarity
Eos Amaterasu: maybe some pieces are a foreign language?
Eliza Madrigal: on the edges of the unknown but peeking through
stevenaia Michinaga: Clarity of one person is bad disco music to another
Eliza Madrigal: :::boogie shoes::::
Eos Amaterasu: disco inferno
Eliza Madrigal: so do we feel that language shapes imagination? surely it affects range...
Eos Amaterasu: language seems to create all-encompassing environments within which we are included and contextualized
stevenaia Michinaga: I think dreams like imagination are language free
Eos Amaterasu: but then the poets create containers which glow with the adjacent possible
stevenaia Michinaga: although, korel says the dreams she remembers are in english
Eos Amaterasu: dreams create imagination?
stevenaia Michinaga: my dream stories are images
Eliza Madrigal: there are some images that show up in most cultures around the world... mythologies that may take on different cultural looks but are nonetheless same at heart
Eos Amaterasu: emotional animals
stevenaia Michinaga: imagination creates dreams
Eos Amaterasu: is there a typist behind language?
Eliza Madrigal: we generally dream in images that are familiar? so the question is are there images we don't have due to language we don't know?
Eos Amaterasu: almost certainly, I would say
Eos Amaterasu: it's like someone who knows the names of plants: when they go into the woods it's a totally different experience than when i do
stevenaia Michinaga: I believe there is no imagination,it's just all there waiting to be plucked like a leaf
Eliza Madrigal: ah, this is true... a botanist would have a layered experience
Eliza Madrigal: no imagination?
stevenaia Michinaga: no something from nothing
stevenaia Michinaga: just synthesis
Eos Amaterasu: something seems rather quirky and quarky and stringy and little flitting bits of nothing
--BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: or so our imagination tells us
stevenaia Michinaga: well new problems/environements rearrange what we know in new ways
stevenaia Michinaga: usually we don;t know what we know, so it appears new
stevenaia Michinaga: I call that imagination
Eliza Madrigal: varying combinations of arisings... pretty magical
stevenaia Michinaga: agreed, we are well equiped for that
Eliza Madrigal: imagination apprehends something inarticulated I feel
stevenaia Michinaga: like music, rearrange the notes, some more cleverly than others
stevenaia Michinaga: same notes
Eliza Madrigal: a child imagining they are sitting with a friend having tea is coming to some understanding
Eos Amaterasu: learning the dreamtime
Eos Amaterasu: perhaps learning the shared dreaming
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, preceeded by a wealth of experience
Eliza Madrigal: learning the shared dreaming.... perhaps
Eos Amaterasu: learn the sambhogakaya of tea first (it's "speech" aspect)
Eos Amaterasu: and then have tea
Eos Amaterasu: its
Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: :) flavor full
Eos Amaterasu: mirror neurons dancing
Eos Amaterasu: then the body follows
stevenaia Michinaga: hard to imagine flavors you have never tasted
Eos Amaterasu: (back to disco)\
Eliza Madrigal: ^.^
Eos Amaterasu: must travel, for flavors
Eliza Madrigal: tactile session... tea and dancing, purring and traveling and dreaming
Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eos Amaterasu: must purr and go to bed....
Eliza Madrigal: :) Night Eos, sweet dreams
Eos Amaterasu: thanks Eliza and Stevenaia, good night!
stevenaia Michinaga: night Eos, thx
Eliza Madrigal: what languages do you speak Stevenaia?
stevenaia Michinaga: once French, a long time ago, I know Hebrew because to read it but not understand it as it is very phonetic
stevenaia Michinaga: I think that's about it
Eliza Madrigal: so you are able to read hebrew aloud but if someone spoke to you not converse?
stevenaia Michinaga: correct
Eliza Madrigal: similar to my spanish... I am able to hear or read if I take a lot of time but could not have a full conversation
stevenaia Michinaga: I used to know grammar, but that was even before 6th grade
Eliza Madrigal: ah :)
Eliza Madrigal: will be off to bed too... actually am in bed already with daughter next to me :)
stevenaia Michinaga: waves, night Eliza
stevenaia Michinaga: I'm off too
Eliza Madrigal: Night Stevie, thanks for a nice conversation
stevenaia Michinaga: :) you too
Eliza Madrigal: pleasant sleep when you get there
