The Guardian for this meeting was Zen Arado. The comments are by Zen Arado.
Zen Arado: Hi Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
Zen Arado: how are you?
Eliza Madrigal: fine thanks... just posted a session log in which you were talking about "Getting Better"
Zen Arado: oh?
Eliza Madrigal: and placebo invention
Zen Arado: ah Coue
Zen Arado: autosuggestion
Eliza Madrigal: yes ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk0dBZ1meio )
Zen Arado: I found I can use media on a prim here
Eliza Madrigal: Oh? solve the puzzle of how to do body scans here?
Zen Arado: not really
Zen Arado: can only find a 45 min one
Zen Arado: but anyone can just add youtube urls and play them
Zen Arado: problem is not everyone has good enough computers
Zen Arado: or don't know how to access video
Eliza Madrigal nods... a long way to go with this kind of embeddedness in SL
Zen Arado: this song is based on Coue's mantra
Zen Arado: had you heard it before?
Eliza Madrigal: yes :)
Zen Arado: thought everyone had
Zen Arado: but it dates back to 1920
Eliza Madrigal: it became woven in as an unreferred to reference
Zen Arado: can you see video?
Zen Arado: yes
Eliza Madrigal: I see no video, no
Eliza Madrigal: ah, there it is
Zen Arado: what viewer are you in?
Eliza Madrigal: I had to click the little box that appeared atop
Zen Arado: yes
Eliza Madrigal: wow great.. so no need to buy a gigantic tv... just throw a flat prim up
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: easy to make too
Zen Arado: but doesn't work in Phoenix
Zen Arado: you can even search for videos on it
Zen Arado: as if it were on your laptop
Eliza Madrigal: when did you learn this?
Eliza Madrigal: (taking a while to load)
Zen Arado: that woman in opensim showed me it
Zen Arado: showed me one rather
Zen Arado: so I looked up how to do it
Zen Arado: what was her name...Glenn something
Eliza Madrigal: can't remember
Zen Arado: or Gwen
Zen Arado: it's easy to make
Zen Arado: you just rez a prim
Zen Arado: select a face then go to textures page and click on + down the bottom and add youtube URL
Eliza Madrigal: thanks
Eliza Madrigal: these things would have to become really easy to do to keep SL practical for company meetings don't you think?
--BELL--
Zen Arado: I heard a radio programme about Coue'
Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: they are easy...it's the difference in computers make it more difficult
Eliza Madrigal: ah, nods
Zen Arado: old slow computers with poor graphics cards
Eliza Madrigal: have to change the world before one can make changes individually :)
Zen Arado: nive song BTW
Zen Arado: nice
Zen Arado: have to stop using that word
Eliza Madrigal: thanks... it isn't smoothly loading for me... hm
Eliza Madrigal: What is the difference between Coue' and mere (?) positive thinking
Zen Arado: think up better adjectives
Eliza Madrigal: I love that feeling when words you didn't think you knew... pop into a sentence...
Zen Arado: I think it developed from him
Zen Arado: I'm still waiting :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: now that ia have to write
Zen Arado: better learn Thesaurus
Zen Arado: but wait...they are all there in my subconscious
Zen Arado: just have to allow context to produce them maybe
Eliza Madrigal: writing can be a lot like painting... in that, when someone becomes okay to run the whole field, they can say a lot more with simple words like hm... 'nice'
Zen Arado: it's about relaxing the criticality
Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: simple words in the right place
Eliza Madrigal: timing
Zen Arado: writing reams of stuff then editing
Zen Arado: that's a body scan but too long
Zen Arado: we use his 30 min one
Eliza Madrigal: I have reams of 'creative' stuff... not much of which I feel is worth editing :) I rely on an invisible (imaginary) editor I hope is working hard for me along the way so I can call on them in the future
Zen Arado: I am back on morning pages again
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, great
Zen Arado: that's mostly just rubbish
Zen Arado: but you find things coming up
Zen Arado: they emphasize freewriting and morning pages on this course
Zen Arado: and clustering
Eliza Madrigal: something winks as you are strolling by....
Zen Arado: like little mind maps to get you started
Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: I am trying voice typing for morning pages
Zen Arado: I can write about 900 words in half an hour
Eliza Madrigal: I may buy that program Zen.. have been thinking about it...
Zen Arado: it's great for that
Zen Arado: we had a discussion on the course forum
Zen Arado: so many love traditional pen and paper
Zen Arado: others prefer computer
Zen Arado: or even iPhone or pads
Eliza Madrigal: I like many approaches - hah, guess as with meditative/contemplative techniques
Zen Arado: I wrote a little bit about 'thought typing' :)
Alfred Kelberry: hi!
Zen Arado: Hi Alf ;)
Eliza Madrigal: 'the nature of diversity is non-dual'
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Alfred :)
--BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: eliza's av always makes me smile :)
Alfred Kelberry: it's cute, gracious, and kind :)
Eliza Madrigal: ty Alfred :) you certainly have a smile provoking avie too
Zen Arado: yeh me too Eliza
Zen Arado: I am trying pen and notebook as well
Eliza Madrigal: what did you write about 'thought typing' Zen?
Zen Arado: they deleted it
Alfred Kelberry: zen, you will be hosting that 5 minutes dash writing session?
Zen Arado: they are so strict on that forum
Zen Arado: I think I mentioned Dragon software
Zen Arado: and ca.t promote that
Eliza Madrigal: oooh, interesting... so no commercial celebrity endorcements
Zen Arado: no Alf I am too busy
Alfred Kelberry: well, maybe later
Alfred Kelberry: it's a good idea that dash writing
Eliza Madrigal: I think the Dash writing can work spontaneously ... but the conditions are hard to organize in pab format with late arriving and such....
Zen Arado: oh I found it!
Zen Arado: Just musing..I know we like the feel of these mechanical writing implements and paraphernalia we use – I even get a thrill from seeing words magically appear as I voice type them… but.. Isn’t the plain bottom line fact of this, we have thoughts in our heads that we have to transfer to paper or other media? We want to capture the elusive thoughts, make a static physical representation of something we have dreamed up in our imagination, something preservable though static; and tangible; that others can see and appreciate or discuss. So anything physical and elaborate acts as an impediment to the flow of thoughts onto the page surely? For reading, paper seems to be becoming obsolete as more opt for Kindles and other ebook readers. I use voice typing but I was wondering this morning if ‘thought recognition’ will be here soon? I have seen people control cursors using thoughts only I think. And don’t we subvocalise a lot when we write? I notice that I do. A language of thought. Wouldn’t it save a lot
Zen Arado: of time if we didn’t have to use any kind of physical apparatus, if we could bypass even the physical operation of speech? A kind of mediumless message?
Eliza Madrigal: so it is more that one watches and feels for the right time
Alfred Kelberry: or we could repackage it and name it "drop writing" :)
Eliza Madrigal: when it might make sense
Eliza Madrigal: lol !!!
Eliza Madrigal: I like that :)
Eliza Madrigal reads
Zen Arado: of time if we didn’t have to use any kind of physical apparatus, if we could bypass even the physical operation of speech? A kind of mediumless message?
Zen Arado: heh
Alfred Kelberry: eh, that's a long excerpt, zen :)
Alfred Kelberry: i got home and tired... can't handle it, i'm sorry :)
Zen Arado: some of them were going on about the feel of moleskin notebooks and fountain pens etc
Eliza Madrigal: for some it is a very tactile experience Zen... like cooking
Zen Arado: yes
Eliza Madrigal: I think you're right about thought typing... not so far away
Zen Arado: I am a bit captivated by that myself
Zen Arado: the feel of paper and a nice pen gliding across it
Alfred Kelberry: tactile cooking...
Zen Arado: even in my weak hand
Eliza Madrigal: yes someone told me recently that I am prob not creative with cooking because I don't make messes enough :)
Zen Arado: :)
Alfred Kelberry: they just envy your neatness
Zen Arado: learning from mistakes
Zen Arado: mother of invention
Eliza Madrigal: I am the clean-up-after-er so often in my life that I am too mess conscious...
Eliza Madrigal: it was pretty good feedback
Eliza Madrigal: seeing a role not to drop but maybe question a bit
Eliza Madrigal: play with :)
Zen Arado: yes :)
Zen Arado: I am an occasional tidier upper
Zen Arado: but often a slob
Eliza Madrigal: my mom tells a story of my coming in from playing in a mud pile, with just hands dirty
Zen Arado: but don't like too much chaos
Zen Arado: ha ha
Zen Arado: didn't want to get too carried away :)
Alfred Kelberry: cute :)
Alfred Kelberry: neat little girl
Eliza Madrigal: I remember having a lot of fun... don't think it took anything away really...
Zen Arado: did you ever write about your childhood?
Zen Arado: I have just started
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes :) if it comes up naturally
Zen Arado: looking for material for later in course
Eliza Madrigal: you Alf?
Alfred Kelberry: write in what format?
Eliza Madrigal: write about childhood memories
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: just freewrriting atm
Zen Arado: letting the memories spill out
Zen Arado: I'm doing a creative writing course Alf
Zen Arado: so need planty of material
Zen Arado: but you can base stories on them
Zen Arado: most writers wrte from their experiences
) is online.
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): meh
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): that was unexpected and uncalled for!
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): liz!
Zen (zen.arado): yeh..no warning even
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): gracious girl has arrived
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): how rude SL was just now :)
Zen (zen.arado): the usual guy must be on vacation
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): no manners
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): lol, the 'give a warning' guy?
Zen (zen.arado): didn't have a restart last two weeks at all
Zen (zen.arado): :)
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): i like it better here though
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): a more casual atmosphere
Second Life: Bleu (bleu.oleander) is online.
Zen (zen.arado): yeh me too I guess
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): nice for a change
Zen (zen.arado): wonder they never think of changing pavilion layout
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): Storm brought up the idea around the time of the anniversary but only Bleu and I were sort of into it
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): me and bleu talked yesterday how it'd be nice to have a natural pond in the pavilion, instead of a concrete circle :)
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): I'd like that... I almost always change to grass for my sessions
Zen (zen.arado): a circle of cushons
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): yes, storm had a plan to build a new pavilion
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): guess he got busy
Zen (zen.arado): but could have different other things
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): /me nods.... it is also a matter of everyone's input
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): Szavanna changed it for her session Monday
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): that was fun
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): in a way it can be a stage
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): oh yes! it was a pleasant change
Zen Arado's PaB Listener: No longer recording. Have a nice day. :)
Zen (zen.arado): sure did :)
PaB Listener Master: Hello , I have just sent the URL to your e-mail address "zenarado@gmail.com". For your convenience, I will also remind you in-world that the URL is http://logs.playasbeing.org/format.p...oc=Zen%20Arado
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): like when people make a fire in the center too
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): 4 years of concrete - we need some change :)
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): well earlier times were in the rectangular pagoda
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): and before that in the tea house
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): so yes maybe it is time :) but can't burden Stormy... hm...
Zen (zen.arado): could meet here
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): eliza, i like that one. it's wooden, in a japanese traditional style.
Zen (zen.arado): just need recorder
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): it wasn't quite large enough, and when we have events this pavilion is perfect... so open...
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): I like it, although sometimes I hesitate to take pictures now because I have 3 million in the same setting, lol
Zen (zen.arado): this is another reason I can't do body scan thing on my session
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): in fact, i even had an idea to hold some sessions in open space in a meadow :) sit on grass and talk :)
Zen (zen.arado): yes Alf
Zen (zen.arado): just need a few cushions is all
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): :) would enjoy that too... really, it would be nice to let the pavilion be all those things...
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): not sure if the fountain can disappear entirely though
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): but sessions when Moon came with flowers were always beautiful
Zen (zen.arado): cushions and a recorder
Zen (zen.arado): pab basics
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): I do want to keep the same location though, for visitors
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): hold the space
Zen (zen.arado): and whatever else you want to add
Zen (zen.arado): to personalize it
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): /me nods
Second Life: Oona Ra is online.
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): yes, it's interesting. we talk a lot about the content of discussions, but miss out on the content of our setting, which may be just as important.
Zen (zen.arado): the framework
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): agree...hm....
Zen (zen.arado): it does matter
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): maybe if we try various settings, discussions will "cure" themselves :)
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): have to go.... full day and tired eyes :)
Zen (zen.arado): different rezzable backgrounds would be good
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): be good, eliza the cutie
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): zen, yes!
Zen (zen.arado): kk byee Eliza
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): It would be fun to have different settings - maybe panoramic backdrops...
Zen (zen.arado): try eyedrops?
mighty pirate (alfred.kelberry): moon is good at it
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): :)
Eliza (eliza.madrigal): yes... trying various things Zen :)
