The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.

    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Korel.
Bruce Mowbray: How's work going today?
    Korel Laloix: osiyo
Korel Laloix: Good.... just getting an office ready for a new partner.
Bruce Mowbray: Great - - - I hope this new partner is friendly.
Korel Laloix: Cleaning it up and making sure supplies and computers work...
Bruce Mowbray: yeah, good to start her/him off right.
Korel Laloix: No idea, I did not sit in on this interview.
Bruce Mowbray: Hm m mm. When does the new partner start working there?
    Korel Laloix: I Think Monday.
Korel Laloix: But on my list of things to do.
Bruce Mowbray: cool. lots of time to get ready, then.
Korel Laloix: I just don’t like to leave things till the last minute.
Bruce Mowbray: Do you know anything about Samuo's fires?

    Fires_PaB.png
    Bruce Mowbray: Good idea.
Bruce Mowbray: especially things that the new partner might need right away.
Korel Laloix: No, but the lag seems a lot worse since they went in... maybe a coincidence though.
Bruce Mowbray: Actually, the more particles and do-dads, the slower the scene refreshes. . . so they probably do make a difference.
Bruce Mowbray: I noticed that yesterday, when we were wearing fancy Halloween costumes, it was very slow . . .
    --BELL--

    Bruce Mowbray: stop
Bruce Mowbray: How on earth did the oni get started???
    Bruce Mowbray: mysterious happenings.
Korel Laloix: Sl is flashing for me as well.
Korel Laloix: Phoenix is nice when it works.
    Bruce Mowbray: weird. . .
Bruce Mowbray: maybe a few goblins left over from yesterday.
Korel Laloix: It is All Saints Day....
Korel Laloix: Going to try another viewer.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, "saints" would definitely leave me out of the picture.
Bruce Mowbray: ok -- I'll be here when you return.
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh! Welcome back!
    Korel Laloix: Much better.
    Bruce Mowbray: Viewer 2?
Korel Laloix: Nothing beats the original SL viewer.
Bruce Mowbray: yeppers. That's what I always use. .
Bruce Mowbray: even though I have Phoenix installed
Korel Laloix: Been trying new ones.
    Bruce Mowbray: oh?
    Bruce Mowbray: and success?
Korel Laloix: Pheo is nice when it works.
Bruce Mowbray: besides the Phoenix, I mean.
Korel Laloix: Metabolt is good when very low rate.
Korel Laloix: used it while camping over the weekend.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmmm...
Bruce Mowbray: I like to hear that you’ve been camping again.
Korel Laloix: I could only get one bar and that was not constant.
    Bruce Mowbray: oh -- wifi?
Korel Laloix: It was lovely.... got to put a couple hundred miles on the new bike as well.
    Bruce Mowbray: or cell phone?
    Korel Laloix: Cell connection.
    Bruce Mowbray: Great!
    Korel Laloix: USB stick thing.
    Bruce Mowbray: wonderful exercise . . .
    Bruce Mowbray: OK. USB stick.
Bruce Mowbray: That works well for you?
Bruce Mowbray: I live so far away from towns -- there is no cable out here. . . so have to use satellite.
Bruce Mowbray: so I'm always interested in alternatives.
Korel Laloix: Metabolt is text only.
Korel Laloix: But you can still do voice with it.
    Bruce Mowbray: oh. . . .
Korel Laloix: That is my favorite low bandwidth one.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I cannot do voice with my present connection.
Bruce Mowbray: but I seldom want to use voice, anyway.
Korel Laloix: Oh I agree, I would much rather just pick up the phone and call anyway... much better sound... unless in a group.
Bruce Mowbray: ?me hopes that Korel's new partner will be OK with her coming to PaB. . .
    Bruce Mowbray hopes that.
Bruce Mowbray: the firm's new partner, I meant.
Korel Laloix: I work for the managing partner, so he will have no say.
    --BELL--
    Korel Laloix: brb... relog
    Bruce Mowbray: k
    Bleu Oleander: hiya Bruce :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Bleu!
    Bleu Oleander: how ya doin'?
Bruce Mowbray: Loved the machinima you gave us a link to.
    Bleu Oleander: oh thank you!
Bruce Mowbray: So are sooooo talented.
Bleu Oleander: it was chosen for the November Month of Machinima
    Bleu Oleander blushes
    Bruce Mowbray: congratulations!!!
    Bleu Oleander: hi Korel
    Bruce Mowbray: welcome back, Korel!
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Korel Laloix: Sorry.
Korel Laloix: Am I a cloud to you?
Bleu Oleander: I see you fine Korel
Korel Laloix: OK... cloud in my view and everything else is good... funny.
Bruce Mowbray: You look grand< korel.
Bruce Mowbray: It sometimes takes a while for your computer to learn the images.
Bleu Oleander: just noticing all the fire
    Korel Laloix: Thanks.
Bleu Oleander: must have been a hot Halloween
Bruce Mowbray: I don't know why the three fires are here. . .
    Bruce Mowbray: Samuo built them.
    Korel Laloix: Want smores again.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Korel Laloix: And cheap hotdogs... smiles
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Korel Laloix: had that over the weekend.
Korel Laloix: With some crap beer... was lovely....
Korel Laloix: For some reason there are foods that only taste good camping.
    Bruce Mowbray: which ones, Korel?
Wol Euler: hello Bruce, bleu, korel
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Wol!
    Bleu Oleander: hey Wol
    Korel Laloix: heya
Bleu Oleander: you lost your fur :)
Korel Laloix: Smores, cheap hotdogs, cheap beer, Vienna sausages, burnt marshmallows... smiles
    Wol Euler grins.
Wol Euler: it comes and goes, bleu
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, delightful eats! I also enjoy pistachio pudding when camping.
Korel Laloix: In the plastic cup?
    --BELL--
Bruce Mowbray: Just add water and - - - presto! Pudding.
Korel Laloix: Not had that one.... I so love good junkfood....
Wol Euler: camping? catching your own dinner :)
    Zon Kwan: hi
    Wol Euler: hello zon
Bruce Mowbray: Pistachio pudding was one of my "totem" snacks when I walked across the U.S. many years ago.
    Bleu Oleander: hi Zon
Wol Euler: (easier for carnivores than vegetarians I guess)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Zon .
Korel Laloix: I have been hunting a couple of times... waaaayyy too much work.... and typically cold.
Bruce Mowbray remembers that deer hunting season will soon be here - - - NOT my favorite time of year.
    Korel Laloix: Understandable.
Korel Laloix: Lots go on around you then?
Bruce Mowbray: I live in a forest, Korel. . . so the deer are my neighbors.
    Korel Laloix: OH OK.
    Korel Laloix: You feed them?
Bruce Mowbray: Well, 250 acres of corn nearby feeds them pretty well.
Wol Euler: perhaps one of the hunters might make a tragic but fully understandable mistake and shoot your neighbors' free-running dogs? *coughs*
    Bruce Mowbray: and coyotes, too!
    Bleu Oleander: awful though
    Bleu Oleander: thought
Bruce Mowbray: The coyotes have been quite noisy of late.
    Wol Euler nods.
Korel Laloix: I love the sounds they make though.

Bruce Mowbray: I love to hear the coyotes howling.
Bruce Mowbray: snap!Bleu Oleander: we have coyotes around us also
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: I've only heard them once, from my cousin's farm
Wol Euler: lovely but also spooky
Korel Laloix: And the sounds carries across the grass so wonderfully.
Bruce Mowbray: My dog is a bit spooked by them. . . for good reason.
Bleu Oleander: our dogs are also
    Korel Laloix: Understandable.
Bruce Mowbray: On very rare occasions, I have seen the coyotes during the day. . . and also the deer, of course.
Korel Laloix: never seen any up close.
Bruce Mowbray: me neither. Just while driving.
Bleu Oleander: we see them during the day
Bruce Mowbray: One will run across the road.
    Bruce Mowbray: wow.
    Bruce Mowbray: so cool.
Bruce Mowbray: Anyone know about these fires?
    Korel Laloix: For smores.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Wol Euler: :)
Korel Laloix: I need to find a SL bottle of Old English 800.
    Bruce Mowbray: Gin?
    Wol Euler: motor oil?
    Bruce Mowbray: snake oil?
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Zon.
    --BELL--
    Korel Laloix: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olde_English_800
    Korel Laloix: Worse.... grins
Wol Euler: bye zon, hello pila
Wol Euler: for the sake of the Europeans: what is malt liquor actually?
Wol Euler: could you give it a name I'd know?
Korel Laloix: I will pass it on.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Pila!
    Korel Laloix: Wrong box... sorry.
    Wol Euler: :)
Korel Laloix: Just think crap ghetto beer.
    Wol Euler: ah, ok
Wol Euler: crap beer in a 40 oz bottle, just what the world needs
Wol Euler: for the record: "high alcohol beer" says wikipedia
Pila Mulligan: greetings ... happy November :)
Korel Laloix: It is the perfect drink with trash hotdogs I think.
    Korel Laloix: heya.
Korel Laloix: Happy All Saints Day.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Wol Euler: ah, yes, happy November.
Wol Euler: my gods, another year nearly done
    Pila Mulligan: really
Pila Mulligan: Korel I see your nametag and think of a pun I once thought of
Korel Laloix: It has been an interesting year so far I think.
    Korel Laloix: Oh do tell.
Pila Mulligan: would a bisexual woman be referred to as a byke :)
Pila Mulligan is not being disrespectful
    Korel Laloix: Sorry, was AFK.
Bruce Mowbray: Oh dear (and deer) . . . I have an RL duty at this hour. Sorry to poof. But, BYE everyone!
Korel Laloix: Actually it is sort of already in use.
    Pila Mulligan: bye Bruce
Wol Euler: bye bruce, take care
Pila Mulligan: ahh, I had not heard it in use
    Pila Mulligan: cool
Korel Laloix: Another flavor of the word is a dyke that will sleep with anyone.
    Pila Mulligan: I see
    Pila Mulligan: redundant then
Pila Mulligan: but puns are fun
    Wol Euler: hello mick
Korel Laloix: I am still not comfortable with what a pun actually is.
Pila Mulligan: one word that sounds like another word but implies a humorous connection
Bleu Oleander: sorry, back - had to take a call
    Pila Mulligan: hi Bleu, wb
    Pila Mulligan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pun
    Mickorod Renard: hi
    Pila Mulligan: hey Mick
    Bleu Oleander: hey Pila, Mick
Korel Laloix: Not part of the language I really get... I know the basic idea, i just can't really see them in conversation.
Mickorod Renard: hold on, just rezzing
Pila Mulligan: how have you been, Mick?
Mickorod Renard: very well tanks,,owz yo Pila, and everyone
    Mickorod Renard: erk,,system slow
    Pila Mulligan: all's well here
    Mickorod Renard: great
    --BELL--
Bleu Oleander: have to go ...take care all :)
    Pila Mulligan: bye Bleu
Pila Mulligan: nice to see you
    Korel Laloix: ciao
    Wol Euler: bye bleu
    Wol Euler: brb, need tea
    Mickorod Renard: bye beu
Mickorod Renard: is it dreams tonite?
Pila Mulligan: it was, already ended
    Mickorod Renard: no?
Pila Mulligan: 1:00 to 2:00 SLT
    Wol Euler: really? damn
Wol Euler: I always forget :(
Mickorod Renard: it must be our time change out of sync
Pila Mulligan: you guys changed time already
    Pila Mulligan: yes
    Korel Laloix: http://queersunited.blogspot.com/2008/08/word-of-gay-byke.html
    Korel Laloix: Just for fun...
    Mickorod Renard: darn
    Pila Mulligan: thanks Korel
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Zon
Pila Mulligan: and funnny play-offs .. tryke, etc :)
    Pila Mulligan: hi Zon
    Zon Kwan: hi and bye
    Mickorod Renard: :)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Mickorod Renard: it was a bit spooky having snow in new york the other day
Pila Mulligan: do they have electricity yet?
    Mickorod Renard: I don’t know
Wol Euler: Stevenaia appears not to yet
Wol Euler: last i heard on FB
Mickorod Renard: It makes me a little apprehensive about what we may get this winter
    Pila Mulligan: an early start
Mickorod Renard: I have a big stock of wood now and am getting chimney swept next Saturday
Pila Mulligan: abc news: More than 3 million customers lost power at some point from Maryland to Maine, and authorities have said it could be next week before power is restored to the rest of the more than 1.7 million residents who are still in the dark.
    Pila Mulligan: wow, big outage
    Mickorod Renard: that’s outrageous
Wol Euler: correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't that happen every year now?
Wol Euler: or at least in two out of three?
    Pila Mulligan: electric problems?
Wol Euler: have there not been major "snow-disasters" every winter for the last N years?
    Pila Mulligan: :) could be
Wol Euler: you'd think somebody would notice the pattern ...
Pila Mulligan: certainly would be making the news
Pila Mulligan: snow in winter, hmmm ...
Wol Euler: my point :) unless I am fantasizing it does make the news, every year
    Pila Mulligan: yes
    --BELL--
Pila Mulligan: Korel, did you ever hear of or read about John Mohawk?
Korel Laloix: I know the name.
Pila Mulligan: I met him back in the 70's when he was an activist
    Mickorod Renard: who is he
Pila Mulligan: he went on to become a college professor
Pila Mulligan: an excellent speaker on Native American issues
Pila Mulligan: he died a few years ago
Pila Mulligan: but You Tube has videos of some of his talks
    Pila Mulligan: http://www.democracynow.org/2006/12/19/john_mohawk_iroquois_leader_and_scholar
Korel Laloix: I know who you are talking about now.
    Pila Mulligan: sample video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVwmEq_TNos
Korel Laloix: Did some good things.
Pila Mulligan: yes, a really fine person
Pila Mulligan: he an Mike Meyers led a bus tour back then called the White Roots of Peace
Pila Mulligan: they'd spend a week in a town and visit schools
Pila Mulligan: with families from Akwesasne
Pila Mulligan: and John and Mike would give talks to the schools
    Pila Mulligan: they were remarkable
    Wol Euler listens.
Pila Mulligan: I set up a visit for them to Kentucky
Pila Mulligan: John went to about a dozen classes as the University of Louisville, graduate as well as underdgrad
Pila Mulligan: he talked to the subject of each class knowledgeably
Pila Mulligan: and wove Indian thoughts and issues into the talk
    Pila Mulligan: really impressive
Korel Laloix: I have read some of his stuff, and some of it is a bit narrow.
    Pila Mulligan: how so?
Korel Laloix: But overall, he pushed in some places that needed to be pushed.
Korel Laloix: Let me find the right words.
Pila Mulligan: I'm curious how the next generation sees it
Korel Laloix: From what I saw, he either had the opinion that only white people are racist, but that could just be the small selection that I read.
Korel Laloix: The pre-white history of the Americas was not peaceful.
Pila Mulligan: he never communicated that idea as far as I saw
Mickorod Renard: are you into native American issues for any particular reason Pila ?
Pila Mulligan: to me those are the defining issues of the karma of the US
Korel Laloix: And he did not seem to recognize that.
Pila Mulligan: maybe you can find an example for me
Korel Laloix: Of course, the US was founded on racist beliefs and actions.
Korel Laloix: And the US has its myths about equality.... Lincoln went out of his way to kill First Americans off, but white US society still idolizes him for his slavery actions.
Pila Mulligan: the Peacemaker legend helps illustrate how pre-Western American history was not all peace and love
Pila Mulligan: yes, slavery was an easier issue than indigenous rights then, still is
    Korel Laloix: Exactly.
Pila Mulligan: and slavery is a horribly difficult issue
Korel Laloix: Racism and sexism are alive and well here still.
    Pila Mulligan: yes
Korel Laloix: But I do think that the USA makes an honest attempt at working on the problem.
    --BELL--
Pila Mulligan: some times it does
    Korel Laloix: Agreed.
Mickorod Renard: coming from a generation where racism and sexism was normal, I found it hard to make the transition, even objected internally to the new laws and regs..but now, after many years i reflect back and see how disgusting the old way was
Pila Mulligan: velocity is tough, the inertia of how things are is not easy to break away from
Korel Laloix: And the ways we try to fix the problems are sometimes just as messed up.
    Wol Euler nods.
    Mickorod Renard: true and true
Korel Laloix: And people are people... prejudice is natural.... what we are asking people to do is not natural.... and you have to understand that when you ask people to not stereotype.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Mickorod Renard: There is part in me that may never change, but in my heart I feel ok..so I hope I am respectful now even if I don’t always sound it
Korel Laloix: Affirmative action has been very kind to me.... but what it really does is penalize poor white men to give relatively well off minorities a push.
Pila Mulligan: at the time it began, it made more sense
Korel Laloix: I am the only really poor minority I have met that has really taken advantage of some of the programs....
Korel Laloix: The rest did not need it.... so.... does good, but at the right cost?... I am not sure.
Pila Mulligan: bussing was the same way ... do you remember racial bussing?
Pila Mulligan: that was one of the hottest measures ever, politically
Korel Laloix: I have read about it.
Pila Mulligan: oh, people got angry
Pila Mulligan: but once you had white kids in black schools, those schools got better
Pila Mulligan: so it was a sledge hammer cure
Pila Mulligan: now they need to send white kids to res schools
    Pila Mulligan: [beingplayful]
Korel Laloix: I passed most of my grade school classes due to my skin color.
Korel Laloix: So an example of it going wrong.
Pila Mulligan: Hawaii is one of the most, if not the most, multi-cultural places anywhere
Pila Mulligan: there is no statically dominant ethnicity here
Pila Mulligan: it is a real melting pot
Pila Mulligan: but there is still ethnic tension
Pila Mulligan: and a lot of jokes
Pila Mulligan: it is better than stereotypical social stratification
    Pila Mulligan: whatever
Korel Laloix: Would like to go there.
Korel Laloix: It is just odd how we treat people different based on such things.
Wol Euler: sorry, my dears, I'm fading fast. Goodnight, take care
    Pila Mulligan: sweet dreams Wol
Korel Laloix: When I was in Germany, I was treated very very well because I was different.
    Korel Laloix: Ciao.
Mickorod Renard: some folk don’t always understand the implications of a joke, others use jokes as a nasty way of conveying their opinions
    Mickorod Renard: bye Wol
Pila Mulligan: yes, here the ethnic joke is not used in a mean way, it is a common form of humor
Korel Laloix: But humor can be a good way to communicate as well.. if done in the right tone.
Pila Mulligan: and Europe historically somehow escaped the really mean racism of the US, it seems
Mickorod Renard: to a degree here too, but one has to be selective about which ethnic group you joke about
    Pila Mulligan: yes
Korel Laloix: I don't know, I saw some very bad racism when I was in Europe...
Mickorod Renard: some accept it in good spirit, others offended
Korel Laloix: In Germany, the attitude toward the Turkish.
Korel Laloix: And in the UK about eh Pakistanis.
    Mickorod Renard: yes
    --BELL--
    Pila Mulligan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii#Race_and_ethnicity
Pila Mulligan: I work with a group of black World War II veterans, they say when they were in Europe in the 1940's during and after the war they had much less trouble with prejudice, some even stayed there after the war for that reason
Pila Mulligan: but the US in the 1940's was seriously racist
Korel Laloix: I don't have a good idea of that. But I have read.
Mickorod Renard: I think a lot of racial tension in the UK at the moment is more to do with protectionism in respect of benefits and jobs. but in the past to do with differences in culture...for this reason I think there is not so much of the traditional form of racism here
Pila Mulligan: Islamic culture seems to bother modern Europeans
    Pila Mulligan: some
Mickorod Renard: Its interesting Pila,,only the other night on tv there was a program depicting the racism in the UK after the ww2 and servicemen
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: they say the acceptance there during the war was heart warming
    Mickorod Renard: perhaps relatively,,
Pila Mulligan: it made them less tolerant when they came home and that led to the civil rights movement gaining strength
Mickorod Renard: yes, I can see that now
Pila Mulligan: it *was* relatively I'm sure
Mickorod Renard: I am ok with Islamic culture, I worked many years in a multicultural environment, I took time to learn the different cultures
Pila Mulligan: usually I find cultural diversity can be uplifting
    Mickorod Renard: me too
Korel Laloix: I will say this up front, I have never met a Muslim man that was not a sexist pig.... but I admit my sample is small.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Korel Laloix: I dated a Muslim girl for a short time, and that was odd.
    Mickorod Renard: :))
Pila Mulligan: male dominance is still unfortunately the norm in many places
Korel Laloix: Fati is seriously afraid for her life in certain circles.
Pila Mulligan: yes, it can be vicious
Mickorod Renard: what do they say, two wrongs don’t make a right
Korel Laloix: And so you know, she goes by Fati for Fatima..... Not being hateful.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Mickorod Renard: so perhaps some have to take a lead
    Mickorod Renard: guessed that Korel
Korel Laloix: Just making sure.... we are still good friends.
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Pila Mulligan: the fourth of Muhammad -- her name
    Pila Mulligan: daughter
    Pila Mulligan: 4th daughter
Mickorod Renard: its difficult too to make sense of some things, for eg,,objecting against arranged marriages may be seen as being against a culture
Mickorod Renard: where does it start and end?
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: it started before and ends after
    Mickorod Renard: :))
Pila Mulligan: meanwhile we get to ponder it
Mickorod Renard: for sure,,thats why we live,,I hope
Korel Laloix: But that is not just a Muslim thing though....
    Pila Mulligan: true
Korel Laloix: Hindu and Coptic Christians do arranged marriages as well...just to name a few.
Pila Mulligan: Gandhi, a Hindu, was married as a child
    Pila Mulligan: an arranged marriage
Mickorod Renard: but from a western point of view do we have a right to object?
Pila Mulligan: depends on how you define right :)
Mickorod Renard: then also child marriages
Korel Laloix: I have reservations about it.
    Mickorod Renard: and so on
    Pila Mulligan: how about circumcision
Mickorod Renard: I was just gonna say that
Pila Mulligan: there are lots of these artifacts of culture still
Korel Laloix: Not being straight, I would not accept it, but that is easy to say when you are out of the culture.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    --BELL--
Mickorod Renard: is there any meaning to the 'bikes' bit in your name title Korel?
Mickorod Renard: I was wondering if you are into motorbikes?
Pila Mulligan: you got here after that part of the chat Mick :)
    Mickorod Renard: ahh
Korel Laloix: No, just a group for dykes that have motorcycles....
    Pila Mulligan: not really
Pila Mulligan: Mick is a hog rider
Korel Laloix: I just picked up my new bike Friday.
Mickorod Renard: I have several bikes
Pila Mulligan: I had a little Honda
    Korel Laloix: 2008 Ninja 650R.
    Mickorod Renard: what you got?
    Pila Mulligan: cool
    Mickorod Renard: wow
Korel Laloix: Dealer lowered with a low profile seat.
    Pila Mulligan: nice
    Mickorod Renard: I have a ninja zx9r
    Mickorod Renard: 900
Korel Laloix: I am only 144cm, so when I found the bike already lowered, I was sort of trapped... lol
    Mickorod Renard: that’s great
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Mickorod Renard: I have a Harley too, with an s&s 1600 engine
Korel Laloix: It is a great find... so I am happy... feeling the empty bank account though.
    Mickorod Renard: he he
    Pila Mulligan: easier some times
    Pila Mulligan: can’t spend anything
Pila Mulligan: do you wear a helmet?
Pila Mulligan: there's an issue :)
Mickorod Renard: I quite fancy riding across usa one day
Korel Laloix: I got an Ok check from the Buell getting destroyed, so that helped.
Korel Laloix: I always wear a full face.
    Pila Mulligan: me too
    Mickorod Renard: me too
    Pila Mulligan: yea
Mickorod Renard: did you have a buell then?
Mickorod Renard: I like them,,never had one though
Korel Laloix: I had a Blast.
Korel Laloix: It was a great bike really.
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Korel Laloix: It fit me and was a great starter bike for sure.
    Mickorod Renard: high up though?
    Mickorod Renard: seat wise
Korel Laloix: Actually, the bike was small enough that I only had to get a new seat.
Korel Laloix: The ninja needed lowering.
    Mickorod Renard: that was lucky
    Pila Mulligan: 144 cm
Pila Mulligan: what's that in inches?
    Korel Laloix: 4'9
    Pila Mulligan: ahh
    Pila Mulligan: thanks
Korel Laloix: No worries.... sorry, I should have said that before.
Pila Mulligan: Mick is in a metric world
    Pila Mulligan: isn’t England metric?
Mickorod Renard: my Harley is really low,,i also keep clipping the ground when I go around corners on it,,ripped my primary oil case drain plug off one day
    Pila Mulligan: ouch
    Korel Laloix: wow... very low.
Mickorod Renard: I am older,,so I know dual measurements
    Pila Mulligan: nice
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Korel Laloix: My ex had a Softtail.... lovely bike.
    Pila Mulligan: hi druth
    druth Vlodovic: i guys
    Pila Mulligan: how's things?
Mickorod Renard: I was supposed to find even the FRENCH new imperial measurements
    druth Vlodovic: pretty good
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Druth
Mickorod Renard: they call an inch a puce
Mickorod Renard: which is like a finger width
Pila Mulligan: what is a stone weight in pounds?
    Mickorod Renard: 14
Pila Mulligan: it strikes me as cool to hear people say their weight in stones
    --BELL--
Mickorod Renard: the old uk currency was weird
    Mickorod Renard: oops
    Pila Mulligan: pounds?
    Mickorod Renard: and shillings etc
Pila Mulligan: that was actually pounds sterling
    Mickorod Renard: yes
Pila Mulligan: I can see a pound of sterling silver, what did shilling come from?
Mickorod Renard: 12 pence in a shilling,,20 shillings in a pound
    Pila Mulligan: ahh
Mickorod Renard: half a crown was 2 and a half shillings
Pila Mulligan: a silver dollar these days is worth way more than a dollar
    Pila Mulligan: for the silver
Mickorod Renard: yes, we had guinnies,,which were gold and worth one pound one shilling,,of course the price of gold now would make one worth hundreds
druth Vlodovic: imagine how cheap stuff would be if we stuck to trading precious metals :)
    Pila Mulligan: yep
Pila Mulligan: given how bad the economy is here there is already a local barter trading system evolving
Pila Mulligan: farmer’s markets help there too
Mickorod Renard: they used one in Argentina recently,,as in last 10 years
Mickorod Renard: I do fear it all will end in a huge world war
Pila Mulligan: well, that's a pretty worrisome thought
Mickorod Renard: if China and so forth can afford,,due to increased value of currency to the west,,they will buy up the resources around the world
Pila Mulligan: they have been asked to help bail out the Euro
druth Vlodovic: maybe we will get "one world government" after all
    Mickorod Renard: yes
Pila Mulligan: i can remember when gas cost 30 US cents a gallon
Pila Mulligan: now I can hardly afford to go shopping
Pila Mulligan: because of the cost of gas :)
Mickorod Renard: its around £1.40 a litre here..4'5 litres to the gallon
Pila Mulligan: some people here are making their own biodiesel now
Pila Mulligan: that seems pretty smart
Pila Mulligan: the secret of wealth is not needing much
druth Vlodovic: that nasty foul word "contentment"
Mickorod Renard: during ww2 some vehicles here ran on methane stored in big inflatable bags on the roof
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Mickorod Renard: you are right pila,,about wealth,,I am annoyed I have to drive so far to work each day,,I am sure there must be a similar job closer
Pila Mulligan: this is where a motorbike and good weather really help
    --BELL--
Mickorod Renard: and in the closer job someone who lives near my work, if there was a juggle about lots could exchange jobs with others to find placements closer to home
Pila Mulligan: would they let that happen, Mick? sounds awfully sensible
    druth Vlodovic: "job swap" lol
Mickorod Renard: it would need to be similar to what a government would do during a war footing
    Pila Mulligan: ah
Mickorod Renard: it would save alot and be environmentally sensible too
Pila Mulligan starts to think about what to have for RL lunch ... (12:48 midday here)
Mickorod Renard: many teachers choose to work away from their home town/village because of wanting to be away from the kids they work with,,but that seems crazy too
Pila Mulligan: :) expensive too, Mick
Mickorod Renard: I must go now,,being called away
Pila Mulligan: nice to see you
    druth Vlodovic: have fun mick
    Mickorod Renard: see you soon
    Pila Mulligan: bye for now
Mickorod Renard: and you too guys
    Mickorod Renard: byeeeeeee
    Pila Mulligan: :)
druth Vlodovic: the problem would be with school counselors and social service providers
    Pila Mulligan: how so druth?
druth Vlodovic: their personal lives might be scrutinized and affect their jobs
    Pila Mulligan: hmm
druth Vlodovic: I find it frightening to hear of businesses checking out their employees online to see what they have been up to
Pila Mulligan: privacy seems to be a thing of the past
    druth Vlodovic: "global village"
Pila Mulligan: it's difficult to see why phone solicitation people sometimes get annoyed when you don’t want to talk to them
Pila Mulligan: there seems to be no respect for privacy
    Pila Mulligan: in some places
druth Vlodovic: lol, I just hang up on them
Pila Mulligan: well, Korel and druth, nice to chat with you, my stomach wants some attention
    druth Vlodovic: have fun pila
Pila Mulligan: thanks .. aloha `oe
druth Vlodovic: I have places to go too, was just curious to see people here at 3
    druth Vlodovic: 'night korel
    Korel Laloix: Ciaoc
