    Santoshima Resident: hi!

    — BELL —

Korel Laloix: A few people on, but I guess slow getting here.
    Santoshima Resident: yeah
Santoshima Resident: what's the topic this week?
    Santoshima Resident: i'll check
    Santoshima Resident: gad
Santoshima Resident: how about the effect of imagination on language?
Korel Laloix: Had a couple of good chat about that ... trying to post one but I can't get into the wiki again ... not sure what is happening.
    Santoshima Resident: we can manage
Korel Laloix: I think one effects the other.
Korel Laloix: i say that as I am not imaginative and am crap at language ... smiles
    Santoshima Resident: agreed
    Santoshima Resident: { oh ... to your first comment, not the second}
    Korel Laloix smiles
    Santoshima Resident: { not agreeing with the "crap at language comment }
    Korel Laloix grins
Korel Laloix: I am in awe of people that are creative though.
Korel Laloix: Just no idea how they do it.
    Santoshima Resident: do what?
    Santoshima Resident: { gotta move it out of the hypothetical }
Santoshima Resident: what do you admire ... name one thing/person
    Santoshima Resident: < interested / listening ...
Korel Laloix: People than can sing, or write, or juggle, or choriagraph, or sculpt, etc
Santoshima Resident: particular people? or generally?
    Korel Laloix: IN general.

    Santoshima Resident: i hear footfalls
    Santoshima Resident: hi Bruce!
    Bruce Mowbray: pitter patter....
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, San and Kori!
Santoshima Resident: the rustling of snow pants
    Korel Laloix: Heya... smiles
    Santoshima Resident: hi :)
Santoshima Resident: we are talking about people we admire
    Santoshima Resident: for thier creativity
Bruce Mowbray listens, since he admires both of you.
Santoshima Resident: in regards to the topic 'o the week
Santoshima Resident: ah bruce you are so kind
Bruce Mowbray glances over to the board to see the topic.
Santoshima Resident: korel was saying about admiring "People than can sing, or write, or juggle, or choriagraph, or sculpt, etc"
    Santoshima Resident: and i concur
Bruce Mowbray: Yes! and also people who can BUILD in SL! I've just come from a sessions with Sunshine.
Korel Laloix: THey take up a special collection at church to keep me out of the choir.
    Santoshima Resident: oh no!!
Korel Laloix: I am sooooooo not creative.
Korel Laloix: Not artsy at all.
    Korel Laloix: Wish I was.
Santoshima Resident: what did you learn at the class, bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: Well, we were basically just getting the structure of the class itself down pat ...
Bruce Mowbray: and how we'd notify persons who might be interested.
    Santoshima Resident: i see
Bruce Mowbray: We've decided to meet at a sandbox ...
Bruce Mowbray: not inside the PaB regions.
    Korel Laloix: Buidling class?
Bruce Mowbray: and we've decided to use Frineds of PaB to send out notices.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, a building class.
Bruce Mowbray: Designed especially for the Art as Being projects.
    Bruce Mowbray: (future ones).
Santoshima Resident: the big one above here?
Santoshima Resident: near the prims platform?
    Bruce Mowbray: nope.
    Santoshima Resident: where?
Bruce Mowbray: I will find the LM ... Just a sec, please.
    Santoshima Resident: ok, thanks
    Santoshima Resident: is it new?
Bruce Mowbray: It is Sun's own sandbox ...

    — BELL —

    Santoshima Resident: ting
Santoshima Resident: do you know any songs, either of you?
Santoshima Resident: that if you were to burst into song now, that'd be it?
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
Santoshima Resident: say, if this were musical theatre ...
Bruce Mowbray: I know a way to make myself sing, actually.
Santoshima Resident: and your expression could only go so far, before breaking into song was necessary
    Santoshima Resident: how?
    Santoshima Resident: shower?
    Korel Laloix: brb
Santoshima Resident: ok, so maybe it's a silly question
Santoshima Resident: but, then, perhaps i'll instead ask ...
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Santoshima Resident: do you have any song playing in your head at this time?
Bruce Mowbray: ( There are NO silly questions! )
Bruce Mowbray: But, no, I didn't have a song playing, actually ...
    Santoshima Resident: { and "silly" be damned ... i'll ask it anyway: do you?}
    Santoshima Resident: hmm
    Bruce Mowbray: Do you, San?
Santoshima Resident: yes, now and often
Santoshima Resident: depends on what i've heard recently
Santoshima Resident: or sometimes if memory surfaces
Santoshima Resident: is preceded by song
Santoshima Resident: 'once in a lifetime' is playing right now
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I do that a lot also. But when I'm chatting — like right now — I don't usually have a song in my head.
    Santoshima Resident: yeah, agreed
    Santoshima Resident: the talking distracts
Bruce Mowbray: There is a song that has been in my mind a LOT this season ... (trying to remember what it is ...)
Santoshima Resident: hmm, wish i could hear you hum a few bars
Bruce Mowbray: OH ... "Angels We Have Heard On High" - - --
Bruce Mowbray: My little sister and I had fun changing the words of that one — when she was very very young ... about forty years ago!
    Santoshima Resident: oh!
Santoshima Resident: how did the revised version go?

Bruce Mowbray: Angels we have heard on high,
Bruce Mowbray: Sweetly singing over the hypotenuse.
    Santoshima Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: And the theorems in reply,
Bruce Mowbray: echoing the joyous moose!

Bruce Mowbray: (She was taking geometry at the tiome.)
    Santoshima Resident: < smiling
    Santoshima Resident: excellent
Bruce Mowbray: It's all part of my personal narrative, you see.
Bruce Mowbray: and that bring me back to the topic.
    Santoshima Resident: yes?
Bruce Mowbray: It is possible to have a "self" without having a personal narrative?
Bruce Mowbray: and is a personal narrative possible without language?
Bruce Mowbray: and is not language/self/narrative all subject to the imagination?
    Santoshima Resident: yeah
Santoshima Resident: we switched the topic order at the start of this chat, sorta
Bruce Mowbray: Shall I go back to singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas"?
Santoshima Resident: to match what you just so clearly said
Bruce Mowbray: THAT is also part of my personal narrative, of course!
    Santoshima Resident: WWYAMC?
    Bruce Mowbray: yeppers!
Bruce Mowbray: But here's the thing that concerns me ...
    Bruce Mowbray waits ...
Santoshima Resident: well, it is kind of ubiquitous in some parts of the world, heh?
    Santoshima Resident: what concerns you?
    Santoshima Resident: { wonder if kori is here? }
Bruce Mowbray: What concerns me —regarding the narrative and the imagination and language ...
    Bruce Mowbray: is:
Bruce Mowbray: That the narrative needs to be "coherent" — and that the only way to make it so ...
Bruce Mowbray: is to use the imagination to fill in parts of the story.
Bruce Mowbray: and that we employ language to do this.

    — BELL —

Bruce Mowbray: Thus, we "construct" a self ...
Bruce Mowbray: I can always go back to singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: If you didn't have a song in your head before, you surely do now!
Santoshima Resident: oh, that one is so engrained,
Santoshima Resident: it's like the doorbell ringing
Santoshima Resident: i can answer and just say: no thanks or
Bruce Mowbray: I love those Olde English Christmas songs.
Santoshima Resident: have some cocoa and pull up a chair
Bruce Mowbray: Like "What Child Is This?"
    Santoshima Resident: yes, wonderful songs
    Santoshima Resident: yeah
Santoshima Resident: let's find a good version of that one
    Santoshima Resident: hang on
Bruce Mowbray: that reminds me ... I have some mulled wine ...
    Santoshima Resident: will seek
Santoshima Resident: too early for wine for me
    Santoshima Resident: you go ahead
Santoshima Resident: oh, virtual mulled wine, sure
    Bruce Mowbray: Yeah! virtual!
    Bruce Mowbray: so cool.
Bruce Mowbray: I got it at Aph's new Melioria place.
Bruce Mowbray: and then just today, I went out into RL and bought my own!
Bruce Mowbray: but forgot to get the cinnimon.
    Bruce Mowbray: cinnamon.
Bruce Mowbray: I got ground cloves, though.

SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Korel, san and Bruce :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Sharon!
    Santoshima Resident: http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/What+Chi...overview?src=5
    Santoshima Resident: hi Sharon,
Santoshima Resident: muscial interlude above ^
    Korel Laloix: Back

SophiaSharon Larnia: thanks for the wine Bruce! Just what I needed :)
Korel Laloix: Wish I had some RL.
Bruce Mowbray: You are most welcome!
Santoshima Resident: cinnamon, such a great spice ~
SophiaSharon Larnia: cool card too :P
Bruce Mowbray: I can't believe that Kori is tolerating this.
Bruce Mowbray: She must be afk ...
Korel Laloix: I tend to just pick up the phone and call people vs cards.
    Bruce Mowbray: ha ha ha!
    Korel Laloix: I am back.
    Korel Laloix: Tollerate what?
    Santoshima Resident: { maybe at work? }
    Santoshima Resident: oh, wb
    Bruce Mowbray: Welcome back, Kori!
Korel Laloix: What did I miss?
    Santoshima Resident: muscial interlude

Bruce Mowbray: One thing I really like about this mulled wine is that the animation moves so slowly, so one can actually savor it!
Korel Laloix: I am at work so no sound.
SophiaSharon Larnia: I was just thinking that Bruce
    SophiaSharon Larnia: slow mo
Korel Laloix: What sort of painful music you listening to?.. smiles
Bruce Mowbray: but you can see the little green thingies coming out of the card, no?
    Korel Laloix: Yes.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)

Bruce Mowbray: Those lawyers you work with would never understand thisa stuff.
    Korel Laloix: What stuff?
Bruce Mowbray: The little green thingies, to start with.
Korel Laloix: And the CPAs are worse than the lawyers.
Bruce Mowbray: and then moving on to antlers, etc etc etc.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ha!
    Santoshima Resident: in what sense?
Bruce Mowbray: OH dear ... we're back to employing the imagination to fill in the chinks in the personal narrative again.
Korel Laloix: Less personable, more unaware, more closed minded, etc.
    Santoshima Resident: yoiks, and yoiks
SophiaSharon Larnia: my sisters a cpa, not boring at all ;)
Bruce Mowbray: Some tread mountain paths ... some freeways ... some roads less traveled by ...
Korel Laloix: The ones you really have to watch are the ones that are both lawyers and CPAs.
Santoshima Resident: some take the goat path
Bruce Mowbray: Ahhhh! Baaa baaaa baaaa!
SophiaSharon Larnia: and some travel through the poison ivy

Santoshima Resident: anybody want some "plush leopard slippers" ?
    Bruce Mowbray: sure!
    Korel Laloix: No thanks.
    Santoshima Resident: coming your way!
    Santoshima Resident: {bruce, that is}
Korel Laloix: My inventory is out of control as it is.

    — BELL —

Bruce Mowbray: Thanks! I love 'em!
    Santoshima Resident: great :)
SophiaSharon Larnia laughs and admires Bruce's fluffy toes
Bruce Mowbray: I moved to this other cushion to show them off!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :P
Santoshima Resident: they look good :)
Bruce Mowbray: They go nicely with my Santa hat, don't you think?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: and your antlers!
    Santoshima Resident: cozy and festive
Korel Laloix: You accessorize so well Bruce... smiles
Bruce Mowbray: And they still allow me to wear my red Christmas socks!
Bruce Mowbray: How on earth am I going to fit all of this into my personal narrative?
    Santoshima Resident: even better
    Santoshima Resident: { now ... we all break into song! }
SophiaSharon Larnia: 5 days until Christmas and Im xmas'd out
Bruce Mowbray: I have absolutely nothing to do with Christmas (except for sending out cards with Bruce's photo on them) in RL ...
Bruce Mowbray: so, SL is where I "wear" Christmas.

Korel Laloix: Christmas is not until Jan 7th.
    Korel Laloix smiles
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
    Bruce Mowbray: Yayyy!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: woot
Bruce Mowbray: I'm all for THAT, Kori!
Korel Laloix: Just go Orthodox with me... smiles
Bruce Mowbray: no more "Black Fridays"!
    Korel Laloix grins

[ out of some sort of peer pressure or desperation, people started trotting out their various animations and props ... / editor's note]

SophiaSharon Larnia: whats going on, am I the only one not in the fountain
Bruce Mowbray: Are you drowning San!???
Santoshima Resident: you need to jump in
Korel Laloix: It was not time for Bruce's annual bath.
Bruce Mowbray dies from laughing ...
SophiaSharon Larnia: sheesh he really did
Korel Laloix: YOu are not twitching.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: get up Bruce
    Santoshima Resident: medic!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: help!
Bruce Mowbray: I just noticed that even after I die frojm laughing, I am still drinking the mulled wine. That's a good sign.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: heheheh
    Santoshima Resident: haha
Korel Laloix: YOu must have your priorities.
SophiaSharon Larnia tries to revive bruce by throwing a snowball at him
    Bruce Mowbray: too much wine!!!
Bruce Mowbray: (and still his mulled wine animation continues to work ...)

Bruce Mowbray: Kori is beginning to scare me.
Korel Laloix: I look pretty sexy with the knife ... smiles
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Santoshima Resident: what knife? oh that one
Korel Laloix: Well, to be honest, I look pretty sexy all the time.
Korel Laloix: It is a good animation at least.
SophiaSharon Larnia: i like it, i havent seen it before
    Bruce Mowbray: Sharon!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oops
SophiaSharon Larnia: my ao is out of control
Bruce Mowbray: Maybe it's the mulled wine....
    Korel Laloix: Arnt' we all?
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh surely not ;)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: lol Korel
Bruce Mowbray: Yeah, after I died from laughing and got stuck in the fountain, I refused to blame it on the wine...
Bruce Mowbray: or my new leopard feet.
SophiaSharon Larnia: you got stuck in the fountain?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: huh
Bruce Mowbray: Yeah, I got stuck after I died laughing.
Santoshima Resident: thought it was a prolonged reclining for dramatic emphasis

    — BELL —

Bruce Mowbray: and then Kori came into the fountain and was stalking me with a knofe.
Korel Laloix: Just practicing ... in case I need to stalk you.
Bruce Mowbray: or, a knife, actually.
SophiaSharon Larnia: got to be careful around here
Korel Laloix: I still have it.
Bruce Mowbray: alas, my RL typist is getting jealous of Kori's attention ... and wants to get out-world. So, I shall say, "Adieu!"
    Santoshima Resident: bye bruce
    Santoshima Resident: take care
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Bruce, take care :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now!
Santoshima Resident: and bye sharon and korel, good to see you!
SophiaSharon Larnia: good to see you too
SophiaSharon Larnia: I really got to get here earlier
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Korel, nice to see you
    Korel Laloix: Ciao
