The guardian for this session was Maxine Walden.  The comments are hers.

An interesting session with several intensely expressed emotions which indeed may have been displaced inner feelings toward the self.

    Korel Laloix: Heya

Maxine Walden: hi, Korel, how are you?

Maxine Walden: Nice to see you!

    Korel Laloix: Overstuffed and content.

    Korel Laloix: You?

Maxine Walden: ah, sounds like holiday feast?

    Maxine Walden: :)

Korel Laloix: Not realy, JUst got back from a two week road trip and grandma wants to feed me for those two weeks away.

    Korel Laloix smiles

Maxine Walden: ah, I see :))

    Korel Laloix: Lovely really.

    Korel Laloix: I think so.

Maxine Walden: nice to have such a grandma :)

Korel Laloix: Step grandma really.... but just the same.

Korel Laloix: What you up to?

Maxine Walden: just about the same.

Maxine Walden: What am I up to? let's see, nothing special really...:)

    Korel Laloix: Boring... smiles

    Maxine Walden: :))

Korel Laloix: Sometimes boring is great though.

Maxine Walden: can be boring when nothing new...or just a gentle 'sameness'

Korel Laloix: Gentel sameness... I like that.

Maxine Walden: not much excitement right now, but that is ok for me

    Korel Laloix: osiyo Dash.

    Maxine Walden: hi, Dash!

    Dash Earthboy: osiyo y'all :)

    Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5wew...eature=related

Korel Laloix: What I am listening to right now.. but not on youtube.

    Korel Laloix: Love the sound.

Korel Laloix: I have a topic if no one else has one today.

Maxine Walden: nice audios, Korel, thanks

    Korel Laloix: wado

    Maxine Walden: please...

    Korel Laloix: IN medieval Spanich.

    Dash Earthboy: :)

Korel Laloix: Well, tomorow is the Forth of July.

Dash Earthboy: we're having strong small thunderstorm move through

Dash Earthboy: i'll try to follow along :)

Korel Laloix: And I am torn.... I sort of resent the USA.. but at the same time I like what the USA has become...

Korel Laloix: So how do you balance a dislike for something and a like for it?

    Maxine Walden: really important question...

Dash Earthboy: fairly easy to break it down

Korel Laloix: And the answer is compley escaping me right now.

    Korel Laloix: Please do.

Dash Earthboy: obviously you don't resent and like the same things about your country :)

Korel Laloix: WEll.. in some ways I do.

    Dash Earthboy: listens

Korel Laloix: I resent how the USA was establish on our lands, and the backs of Chinese, Irish, Africans, etc.

Maxine Walden: yes, tell us more, Korel...

Korel Laloix: But I do admire how this country has made the most of itself.... in terms of freedomes, equalites, science, arts, etc.

Korel Laloix: Just conflicting thoughts in my head.... and heart.

    Dash Earthboy: yes

Maxine Walden: yes, can sense that conflict

Dash Earthboy: but i don't see the similarities you indicated between the two

Korel Laloix: You lost me, sorry, what similaries did I state that you don't see?

Korel Laloix: wow.. way beyond my English.

Dash Earthboy: Dash Earthboy: obviously you don't resent and like the same things about your country :)

[01:07 PM] Korel Laloix: WEll.. in some ways I do.

    Korel Laloix: OH OK...

Korel Laloix: I think I kwno what you mean.. let me expain.

Korel Laloix: Or find the words I think.

    Korel Laloix: I think.

Korel Laloix: I realize that this country would not be what it is today without the exploitating.

Korel Laloix: SO I resent it, and realize that I benifit from it.

Korel Laloix: Does that makes sense?

Maxine Walden: One can almost feel guilty for benefitting from the exploitation

    Dash Earthboy: interesting points

Dash Earthboy: first counterpoint, not everybody exploited -- ie, not the USA as a whole

    Korel Laloix: True.

Korel Laloix: But the USA as a whoel tollerated it as a general population.

Dash Earthboy: second counterpoint, not everybody benefitted -- ie, not the whole country

Korel Laloix: I think that is a debatable point.

Dash Earthboy: therefore, i think it easy to discriminate between what you resent and what you like

Dash Earthboy: unfortunately "like" and "resent" are not oppositional equivalents

Dash Earthboy: the feeling guility is a good start toward understanding the conflict felt

Play as Being 15 minute bell: Thank you.

Korel Laloix: I am not sure I feel guilt though.

    Korel Laloix: I feel resentment.

Maxine Walden: no, that was my statement, not Korel's

    Korel Laloix: lol

    Korel Laloix: COnfusing chat.

Dash Earthboy: yes, we find agreement that you feel resentment

    Maxine Walden: :)

    Maxine Walden: maybe so...

    Korel Laloix: lol

Korel Laloix: But I also feel a sort of attachment... maybe pride in the USA... weird.

Korel Laloix: Enough that I tried to join the US military.

Maxine Walden: But sounds like you have some strong feelings about USA....ah, tried to join the military. Would be interested to hear more

    Korel Laloix: Was medically disqualified.

Dash Earthboy: i also tried to join military after fighting the draft

Korel Laloix: Did not even get to the DADT thing.

    Maxine Walden: sorry :(

    Korel Laloix: Strange system.

Dash Earthboy: democracies are usually seen that way :)

Korel Laloix: So I gues my realy question is......

Korel Laloix: How do you deal with what psych typs cal cognative dissonance...

Korel Laloix: Two competeing feelings that you are pasionate about?

Dash Earthboy: totalitarian systems are generally much easier to accept or reject in whole

Maxine Walden: another interesting question, two competing feelings you are passionate about

Dash Earthboy: cognative dissonance is a great topic

Korel Laloix: Yes, but as much as the present administration wants to be totalitarian, they are not.

    Maxine Walden: :)

Dash Earthboy: you presume they WANT to be totalitarian? poor reasoning there

Maxine Walden: was unaware the current admin wants to be totalitarian...say more?

    Dash Earthboy: yes

Korel Laloix: Well, the seem to want to be.

    Dash Earthboy: hi Zen

    Maxine Walden: hi, Zen

Dash Earthboy: they don't seem that way to me :)

    Zen Arado: Hi all

Korel Laloix: lol.. as Dash knows, I have a very very very low option of the sexist racist homohating administration we have right now...

Dash Earthboy: and i'm a fairly aware kind of guy

Dash Earthboy: who is concerned about labels being used as a form of mis/disinforming others

Korel Laloix: Might be one of the reasons I am finding this Forth of July so difficult.

Maxine Walden: We are talking about ambivalence toward USA, on the eve of 4th. passionately opposite feelings

    Zen Arado: yeh ok

Korel Laloix: It is such a strange mix of emotions and thoughts.

Zen Arado: it puzzles me why Canadians are so accepting of the British royal family

Dash Earthboy: please choose words carefully :)

Korel Laloix: I dont understand the the British clinging to Monarchy either.

    Zen Arado: me neither

Korel Laloix: But if it works for them.. enjoy.

Maxine Walden: seems we may begin to tread on sigificant passions...or passionate differences

Korel Laloix: Kate is cute for sure... smiles

Zen Arado: why does Firestorm give me a blue egg too?

Maxine Walden: Not your choice, Zen?

    Korel Laloix: What?

Zen Arado: certainly not (blue egg)

    Maxine Walden: :)

    Dash Earthboy: :)

    Maxine Walden: ah, disappeared!

    Dash Earthboy: listens to Korel

    Zen Arado: I detach it

    Maxine Walden: hmm

Zen Arado: it's traditions isn't it?

Korel Laloix: Traditions are good I tihnk.

Zen Arado: and people like their traditions

Korel Laloix: But someties they can get out of hand.

Dash Earthboy: possibly also comfort with the devils one knows versus ...

Zen Arado: but our royals don't actually rule or anything

Korel Laloix: Probably the only reason someone would vote for OBama again... lol

    Dash Earthboy: true Zen

Zen Arado: they just go around opening things

    Maxine Walden: :)

Zen Arado: or do good will visits

Zen Arado: and people applaud them...but what have they done to earn that?

Dash Earthboy: how easy it is to point out scum rises to the top of a pond huh?

Zen Arado: ust be born into riyal family

Maxine Walden: maybe they carry folks' fantasies....like 1000 years of fantasy

Korel Laloix: Is there a Canadian equivaltent ot he Fourth of July celebrations?

Maxine Walden: Canada Day, July 1, is sort of similar, I think

Korel Laloix: Scum rizing to he top.... very US politics for sure...

Play as Being 15 minute bell: Conversations here are recorded when ON AIR. Please see

    http://wiki.playasbeing.org/

Play as Being 15 minute bell: Please observe 90 seconds of silence.

Zen Arado: I don't hate them...just think it is all a bit anachronistic and unnecessary

    Dash Earthboy: :) @ Maxine

Play as Being 15 minute bell: Thank you.

Dash Earthboy: yay! i didn't get knocked off by the storm!

Maxine Walden: leaders seem to get a lot of intense feeling...

Maxine Walden: glad, Dash, significant thunder storms?

Maxine Walden: glad you are still with us

Dash Earthboy: as I said early on, yes

    Maxine Walden: indeed

Korel Laloix: I notice that .. yes leaders get a lot of strong emotions.

Dash Earthboy: many people find straddling a fence for too long too uncomfortable a position to maintain

Korel Laloix: The anti Bush hysteria was comical...

Korel Laloix: The anit Obama hysteria is til buidling for sure.

Dash Earthboy: yet many who claim to be non-aligned really are choosing a side: the winning side in their eyes

Dash Earthboy: they just deny it

    milakel Resident: hi :)

    Dash Earthboy: hey mila

milakel Resident: korel the biker! how's your trip? :)

Korel Laloix: I am pretty sure I dont' want Obama again, but that all depends on who is the alternative.

Maxine Walden: hi Mila, nice to see you

    Korel Laloix: It was lovely.

Korel Laloix: Got back home this morning.

    Zen Arado: Hi ila :)

    Zen Arado: Mila

    milakel Resident: korel, pics? :)

Dash Earthboy: easy not to like something; hard to find viable alternatives

Dash Earthboy: criticism ain't much sport

Korel Laloix: Let me load one.

    Zen Arado: true Dash

Korel Laloix: Well, the present crew is so bad, almost anyone would be better... almost.

Dash Earthboy: can't agree with that logic Korel

Zen Arado: I don't like thatso we should do this instead..

    Zen Arado: is better

Dash Earthboy: makes swiss cheese look rock solid

    Dash Earthboy: yes Zen

    Dash Earthboy: hey Arch

    Dash Earthboy: hi Eder

    Dash Earthboy: oops

    milakel Resident: obama is alright

    Dash Earthboy: hey Qt

    Maxine Walden: hi, Arch

Zen Arado: Obama looks good from where I am

    Qt Core: hi all

    milakel Resident: qt :)

Korel Laloix: I just dont understand how someone could be alrgith with OBama or with Bush... both are just just disasters... but that is my opinion.... lol

    milakel Resident: archy

    Maxine Walden: hi, Qt

    Zen Arado: Hi Arch, Qt

Dash Earthboy: i think the point about Obama is that he is better than the alterrnatives at the time

Korel Laloix: Like chosing between ticks or leaches.

Zen Arado: you need Satah Palin for president then?

Archmage Atlantis: The battle has been joined/... the dragons fly.....my ex ex is in the building

You decline Mountain Meditation @ Perfect Paradise from A group member named Bertram Jacobus.

    Zen Arado: Sarah

Dash Earthboy: he made one of those leaches his Sec of State :)

    milakel Resident: palin is hot

Maxine Walden: Wow, strong emotions here!

    milakel Resident: :)

    Archmage Atlantis: Blessings and Namaste

    Dash Earthboy: you too Arch

    Zen Arado: bye Arch

Korel Laloix: OK.. what is wrong with Palin?

    Maxine Walden: bye Arch

Zen Arado: she is not admired by British media

    Zen Arado: :)

Dash Earthboy: possibly for good reason? :)

milakel Resident: she doesn't like pab

milakel Resident: but she's hot anyway

Korel Laloix: Hillery could get a labotomy and do a better job than BO... in my opinon.. smiles

    Zen Arado: what ? :)

Korel Laloix: Well then again, any woman could get a labotomy and do better than BO...

    Korel Laloix smiles

Maxine Walden: You do have passionate feelings, Korel, against Obama and co

Zen Arado: thought Sarah had one :)

    Zen Arado: sorry

    Maxine Walden: :)) Zen

    milakel Resident: give examples please!

Korel Laloix: I just dislike sexism, racism and financial incompitence.... sorry.

Dash Earthboy: *is reminded that wise people speak because they have something to say while fools speak because they have to say something...importantat to choose our words huh?

Dash Earthboy: labels can be a way to mis/disinform

    Korel Laloix: Very true.

Korel Laloix: Look how Obama labed Hillary and Sarah.

Zen Arado: it's just the things she says

    Zen Arado: and does...

Dash Earthboy: Obama labeled Hillary : Sec of State

Dash Earthboy: yes Zen about Sarah :)

milakel Resident: ah, dash. that reminded me of another quote: wise people discuss ideas, fools other people :)

Korel Laloix: Then established several special representatives that reported to him no her, thus significantly reducind the power of the Sec of STate.

Dash Earthboy: sounds like a good point mila

Dash Earthboy: yet often the two are intertwined

Play as Being 15 minute bell: Thank you.

Korel Laloix: I just hope something better is avialable next election.

milakel Resident: what if we discuss wise people? :)

Zen Arado: yeh I know so little about American politics..just the version given by British media

Dash Earthboy: i just hope my son votes in the next election

Dash Earthboy: he hasn't taken that responsibilityh seriously

Korel Laloix: I was son angry about this last exlection.... my first... and I had a choice between a crotchety old geezer and sexist racist homophobe.... it so sucked.

    milakel Resident: :)

Korel Laloix: Oh well... better luck next time.

    milakel Resident: *pats korel*

    Dash Earthboy: :)

Zen Arado: so why was that?

    Zen Arado: the system?

Korel Laloix: Our two major political parties really realy failed us.

Korel Laloix: Mostly the system yes..

Zen Arado: the British system elects only guys who went to Eaton and Oxbridge

Dash Earthboy: i see "the system" as made of individual people working in a job

Zen Arado: the system is loaded against the lower classes

    Zen Arado: (sounds Marxist)

    Dash Earthboy: heheh

Korel Laloix: I dont have a good understanding of teh Bristish system.. I did an exchange to Cambridge for a while a couple of years back and it did come accross as eleitest.

Zen Arado: it was better in the 70's and 80's but has reverted

You decline Bonchance's Happy Hour from A group member named Sandor Zabelin.

Korel Laloix: Marx was a complete mysognist perve, but he did have some good ideas.

milakel Resident: when the queen still existed, zen :)

Zen Arado: yeh public schoolboys are groomed for leadership

    Dash Earthboy: labels abound

Dash Earthboy: unsubstantiated as they are

Zen Arado: well check out the stats of British ministers

Korel Laloix: Yes, unsbutantiated, if you did not do your homework... ortherwise, very substantiated.

    Zen Arado: British MP's

Zen Arado: I watched a TV prog where they produced these stats

Korel Laloix: I got see see PM Blair speak.. that was interesting... a lovely speaker.

    Zen Arado: yes he was

Zen Arado: he was a lawyer

Dash Earthboy: can somebody make it obvious to one well-steeped in history and some current politics, what is so apparent to the labelers that substantiates "racist", "sexist", "misogynist", etc?

Zen Arado: Obama is a better speaker then George Bush anyway

Korel Laloix: Without a doubt, Bush was a very bad speaker.

Maxine Walden: Seems to me we often displace our discontents onto others: when we may be feeling hatred for some reason, we may blame someone else for being hateful or prejudiced. Seems to me

Korel Laloix: I went over with you all of OBama's racist actions Dash.

    Zen Arado: yes Maxine

Korel Laloix: Well, a minor list of them really.

Maxine Walden: that happens a lot

Zen Arado: we our own faults in others

Maxine Walden: think it is easy to locate our own 'stuff' in others, especially leaders

Zen Arado: never applied that to politicians though

Dash Earthboy: we can do a psychological deconstruction of emotional outbursts the same as we do to dreams

    Zen Arado: yes?

    Korel Laloix: OH do tell.

Dash Earthboy: i'm watching it in action here

Zen Arado: wonders why he doesn't like David Cameron (present Prime Minister)

Zen Arado: thought it was beacause he is an upper class bully boy

    Korel Laloix: Bully boy?

Zen Arado: shows my working class resentment I guess

Zen Arado: yeh you can just imagine him as a school bully

Zen Arado: have to work on this :)

    Maxine Walden: :)

Korel Laloix: OH Ok... I understand.

    Dash Earthboy: :)

    Bell

Korel Laloix: I really dont follow UK politics, but I did find it interesting when I was.

Maxine Walden: I'll be needing to go soon after the bell. Not sure what the title of this chatlog will be...

    Maxine Walden: any ideas?

Dash Earthboy: for those trying to keep up it started as ambivalent feelings toward one's country :)

Zen Arado: slips out to meditation meeting... bye all..

    Dash Earthboy: bye Zen
