    An enchanted forest

    Eden Haiku: Hi Seeker!
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Eden :)
Eden Haiku: How are you sweet panda?
FcSeeker Resident: having peace in my mind
FcSeeker Resident: how are you dear lady ?
Eden Haiku: I'm fine too, thanks. Went to a great celebration in the forest yesterday.
    FcSeeker Resident: ahhhh
FcSeeker Resident: that was wonderfull :)
FcSeeker Resident: would you like to share more of it ?
Eden Haiku: We were celebrating the "inner guru". And yes. I'm still filled with energy.
    FcSeeker Resident: feel that yes
Eden Haiku: We had a sacred fire, than we went into a double spiral on top of the mountain and had a ritual.
FcSeeker Resident: but feel that from you also when ever meet you :)
    FcSeeker Resident: <3<3<3
Eden Haiku: Nice of you to say that Seeker ;-)
Eden Haiku: The day was gorgeous, sunny and warm.
    FcSeeker Resident: <3
Eden Haiku: The forest there is an enchanted forest, really.
FcSeeker Resident: I see great and powerfull green trees a lot
Eden Haiku: We were in a circle of tall young maple trees and the wind was swirling into it.
    FcSeeker Resident: <3
Eden Haiku: Yes, you live in a kind of forest don't you?
    FcSeeker Resident: no
    FcSeeker Resident: sadly
FcSeeker Resident: but I have some forest quite near by to visit, but not such that you visited

Others are arriving and as the Autologger has not been responsive, I ask a technical question to other guardians

    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Storm
Storm Nordwind: Good morning friends :)
Eden Haiku: But there are many trees where you live? Hi Storm!
Eden Haiku: How are you Storm?
    FcSeeker Resident: sadly not
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Zen
FcSeeker Resident: my environment is even quite industrial that only few trees bring green a bit around
Eden Haiku: Hi ruthed Zen ;-) (Viewer tricking again...)
    FcSeeker Resident: brick trees
    Zen Arado: Hi All
FcSeeker Resident: but their spirit is very bright
    Eden Haiku: Brick trees hehe
    Zen Arado: ruthed?
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Zirana
Eden Haiku: Yes, well that's my viewer, don't worry.
    FcSeeker Resident: so sorry
    FcSeeker Resident: Xirana,
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello everyone:)
    Zen Arado: I'm using Ubuntu
Zen Arado: not a good start
    Zen Arado: Hi Xirana :)
Eden Haiku: If you don't mind Seeker, I have a technical question to ask to other guardians.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Zen, Yaku...
    FcSeeker Resident: of chorse
    Zen Arado: Hi Yaku
Eden Haiku: It seems the autologger won't let me claim the session, could one of you try it?
    Storm Nordwind: Works for me
Eden Haiku: Just to see if it works...
Storm Nordwind: Works for you too!
Eden Haiku: I "claim" and it doesn't say so in local chat as usual...
Storm Nordwind: It said "PaB Listener Master: Eden Haiku has just claimed the session and will receive link to the log after the session is done. This replaces any previous claim."
Zen Arado: I downloaded Ubuntu at weekend but find it difficult downloading software
Zen Arado: a friend showed me how to get SL
Zen Arado: but I'll get used to it
Eden Haiku: Ah ok, so it's mine even if it doesn't say so?
Storm Nordwind: It did so as far as i could hear Eden. Maybe you have muted it?
Xirana Oximoxi: I've also seen it in general chat, Eden
Eden Haiku: Hello Yaku and Xirana :-))
FcSeeker Resident: I also saw it
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello Eden:))
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Yakuzza
Eden Haiku: Mute the autologger? If I did it was accidentally, how could I check that Storm?

    --BELL--

Storm Nordwind: Right click > more > more ... and if you have a "Mute" option, it's not muted. However, if you have an Unmute option, it was muted. (Don't click on Mute!) :)
Eden Haiku: Thank you Storm. Yes, I have mute option. So it's not muted. Well, things are acting weird lately, so I guess it's part of the weirdness, as long as I get the session ;-)
Storm Nordwind: How strange - so sorry to hear that :(
Eden Haiku: I was sharing with Seeker that I attended an "inner guru" celebration in the forest yesterday. My "inner guru" needs to awaken its technical abilities it seems ;-)
Storm Nordwind: Don't worry Eden - even gurus struggle with what others insist on calling 'reality'! ;-)
    Eden Haiku: hehe
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)

    Full moon of July

Eden Haiku: How was full moon of July experience for you all?
    FcSeeker Resident: always mooncrazy :)
    FcSeeker Resident: the good way
    Eden Haiku: ah ah!
Storm Nordwind peeks outside the window.... to find the moon gone. Apparently he missed it
Eden Haiku: It was very white and very clear, very shiny.
FcSeeker Resident: you can always travel back in time when you saw it :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I've missed it too... at days and nights stormy and cloudy here:)
Yakuzza Lethecus wish i would have seen a clear sky during the night in the last days
Eden Haiku: On Friday but then very clear still yesterday.
Eden Haiku: Went oustide the summer house to look at it at 2 am: her milk was submerging the whole landscape
    FcSeeker Resident: <3<3<3
FcSeeker Resident: it always bring nostalgy motions also
Eden Haiku: This full moon of July is celebrated all across India as the Guru Purnima: the full moon of the guru.
FcSeeker Resident: (maybe reminding of some other planet of my former life)
Storm Nordwind: We have had almost nightly thunderstorms for last few weeks - so I guess I've not seen much of the night sky

    Sunny and cloudy

Eden Haiku: Ah yes, the clouds...Here we are having an incredible summer: it's sunny almost everyday (but today cloudy :-(
Xirana Oximoxi: oh! it's a good new Storm, I remember you saying it has been very long wothout rain:)
Storm Nordwind: Yes we had 6 months with no rain - then three weeks of rain, then nothing, and now more rain. The semi-desert is turning quite lush ... and there is still a touch of snow on the mountains!
Eden Haiku: Oh wow, it must be spectacular Storm. Do you have special desert flowers at this time?
Xirana Oximoxi: does the weather affect your mood? for exemple, Eden, do you feel different when full moon?
Storm Nordwind: I'm sure we do... except that I rarely travel into the drier places. I prefer a trek into the mountains
Eden Haiku: Yes, I'm sensitive to the moon Xirana. Are you?
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Bleu
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello Bleu:)
    Zen Arado: Hi Bleu
    Eden Haiku: Hi Bleu!
Storm Nordwind seems to recall an old research experiment where they locked people in a room with no stimulus of what time of day it was. After a while people settled into a rhythm... but the rhythm was a 25 hour lunar cycle!
    Bleu Oleander: hi all :)

    --BELL--

Storm Nordwind excuses himself quietly and waves bye to all
Xirana Oximoxi: I'm not aware of feeling different with the moon cicle... but yes when the days are rainy or sunny, specially when it is long time with rain and cloudy days
Eden Haiku: The treks must be beautiful with the snow capped mountains Storm!
    Storm Nordwind waves
    Eden Haiku: Bye Storm!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye storm
    Bleu Oleander: waves
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi bleu
Xirana Oximoxi: bye Storm:) have a nice day
    Zen Arado: bye Storm
    FcSeeker Resident: bye strom

    Healing circle in the forest

Eden Haiku: Sitting in a healing circle in the forest yesterday, listening to Tibetan bells and singing bowls, looking at the tall trees gently moved by the breeze, I felt I was in paradise.
    Zen Arado: Hi Dash :)
    Dash Earthboy: hey y'all
    Eden Haiku: Hello Dash ;-)
Xirana Oximoxi: wow... it really sounds a wonderful environment Eden:)
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Dash
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Dash:)
    Zen Arado: sounds nice Eden
Eden Haiku: Yes, it was a marvelous event, celebrating our "inner guru". We were about 200 people in a private land nearby where I live for the summer.
FcSeeker Resident: and those trees gives the most much of Chi of all of the trees
Eden Haiku: Yes, a lot of prana in the air too.
    FcSeeker Resident: <3
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey dash
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Eden Haiku: They have meditations every Sunday: I will try to attend for the rest of the summer.
    FcSeeker Resident: <3
Xirana Oximoxi: 200 people is a big amount:)
Eden Haiku: It's the same group I went to Egypt with, then to see the whales;-)
Eden Haiku: Yes, people from Quebec city even, far for them :-)

    The violet ray

Zen Arado: what is the name of the group?
Eden Haiku: It's called "le rayon violet" You can see their web site:
Eden Haiku: Let me get you the URL.
Eden Haiku: It's all in French, good practice for you Zen.
Eden Haiku: There are even pictures from our trip in Egypt at: http://www.rayonviolet.com/voyage_egypte_2011.html
    Zen Arado: ah oui merci
Bleu Oleander: looks great Eden :)
Eden Haiku: je vous en prie cher ami ;-)
Zen Arado: having trouble wit my viewer
Eden Haiku: Ah is it your Ubuntu software Zen?
    Zen Arado: yeh
Zen Arado: lost the bar at the top
Dash Earthboy: looks good in the Imprudence/Firefox I'm running on Ubuntu Natty :)
Xirana Oximoxi: les fotos d'Egypt are fantastiques:)
Eden Haiku: You have to practice to other kind of "ubuntu" with it I guess (winking at Xirana)
Zen Arado: I'll get used to it
Eden Haiku: Merci Xirana! saw many of the 50 people who were in Egypt with me yesterday. It creates bonds!

    --BELL--

The other Ubuntu (the operative system)

Xirana Oximoxi: :) Zen ... I know about the other Ubuntu, but I have never tried. I've heard is a good operative system... free source
Xirana Oximoxi: and probably this is why it's name is 'Ubuntu'... made with the work of a lot of people that wants to share their technological knowledge
    Zen Arado: yes
    Xirana O
Zen Arado: it is good but takes some learning
Zen Arado: for me anyway :)
    Zen Arado: feels strange
    Eden Haiku: onigokko
Xirana Oximoxi: I believe you Eden!!! traveling and sharing this travel to Egypt must have created bonds:)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    Eden Haiku: stop
Dash Earthboy: sounds like a great group of people to travel with Eden :)
    Bleu Oleander: is it friday?
Eden Haiku: Ah! I missed onigokko
    Bleu Oleander: haha
Bleu Oleander: stepped away and heard the familiar music
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Eden Haiku: We used to do it anytime...
Bleu Oleander: thought I had lost a week :)
    Eden Haiku: Ah ah Bleu..
    Bleu Oleander: hehe
Eden Haiku: last week it was Thursday and I thought it was Friday. It felt like having a brand new day more!
    Dash Earthboy: :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: there goes zen
FcSeeker Resident: once it happened to me that I got lost into days on the 1.1.
Eden Haiku: oh oh Ubuntu ejected Zen from he fountain ;-(
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Dash Earthboy: such a shame
    Xirana Oximoxi: oh! sadly:(
Dash Earthboy: i've found every SL viewer seems to work better on Ubuntu than in Windows
Eden Haiku: He will find his way around his new operative system I'm sure ;-)
Dash Earthboy: every SL viewer I've tried anyway
    FcSeeker Resident: wb Zen
Dash Earthboy: Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian
Xirana Oximoxi: I must go now... wish all nice day:)
Eden Haiku: He'll have a tea and will be illuminated about the way to go with it ;-) British people do taht, don't they? At least in novels.
    Bleu Oleander: waves to Xirana
Eden Haiku: By Xirana, have a nice day sweetie
    FcSeeker Resident: waves to Xirana
Dash Earthboy: now Debian can be difficult :)
    Dash Earthboy: bye Xirana
Eden Haiku: Welcome back Zen ;-)
    Zen Arado: bye Xirana

    Debian & other operative systems

Eden Haiku: Debian, Dash? Never heard of that system
    Dash Earthboy: yah
    Eden Haiku: Open source also?
Dash Earthboy: it's an alternative to Red Hat & SUSE
Dash Earthboy: i've found many Brits like CentOS which is a Red Hat derivative
Dash Earthboy: i've worked with it too
Dash Earthboy: so far I'll take Ubuntu over any of 'em
Eden Haiku: It reminds me this video Alfred sent I still have to watch. About "How to deal with poisonous people in open source." Couldn't watch it on iPad (it's flash or something) Will have to watch it on laptop.
Bleu Oleander: bye all ... take care ... nice to see you all :)
    Dash Earthboy: bye Bleu
Eden Haiku: Nice to see you Bleu ;-)
Eden Haiku: have a nice day too!
    Eden Haiku: brb
Dash Earthboy: Eden, the video is about "how to deal with poisonous people"?
    Dash Earthboy: that's a topic I haven't seen discussed in PaB :)
Dash Earthboy: could I get a link to it pls?
    FcSeeker Resident: waves to Bleu
    Eden Haiku: back
    FcSeeker Resident: wb Eden
    Yakuzza Lethecus: wb

    --BELL--

    Dash Earthboy: jit4bell
Eden Haiku: Just seeing your question Dash. Looking for the link Alfred sent...
    Dash Earthboy: :)
    Dash Earthboy: wb Zen
    FcSeeker Resident: wb Zen
Eden Haiku: Oh, Zen, you are coming and going a lot this morning. Jittery?
    Zen Arado: it's Ubuntu
Zen Arado: graphics card isn't set up right for it or something
Dash Earthboy: is that 64-bit or 32-bit Ubuntu?
    Zen Arado: 32
    Dash Earthboy: good

    Messages from the Autologger

Eden Haiku: Oh oh, I have messages from the autologger saying there was a session but no one said a thing this morning. My God, is the autologger being critical of our topics?
Dash Earthboy: that's the easiest way into Linux
Zen Arado: I'm using two screens
    Dash Earthboy: oh?
Zen Arado: when I started Firefox in smaller one SL disappeared
Zen Arado: and I have to use minimise or nothing works
    Dash Earthboy: weird problem
Eden Haiku: Still looking up the link Dash, a lot of mails in the way...
Zen Arado: it's my graphics card
Dash Earthboy: i'm running 2Firefoxes, a Chromium and Imprudence
Zen Arado: Ubuntu drivers not as good as on Windows I think
Dash Earthboy: plus an OEL virtual machine
Dash Earthboy: interesting comment on the drivers
Zen Arado: for my graphics that is
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Susan
    Dash Earthboy: what graphics?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey susan
    Dash Earthboy: hey Susan

    A link to a video

Eden Haiku: "How Open Source projects survive poisonous people": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSFDm3UYkeE
    Dash Earthboy: thanks Eden :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: thx eden
Eden Haiku: It's rather long (about one hour):I haven't watched it yet. Alfred shared this.
Eden Haiku: He knows a lot about operative systems and open sources I think
    Zen Arado: ty Eden
    Zen Arado: I know little
Zen Arado: but hope I can learn
    Eden Haiku: hello Susan ;-)
Dash Earthboy: good topic for Open Source developers :)

Is Susan wearing her invisibility cloak?

Eden Haiku: is Susan really here, I can't see her ;-(
    Zen Arado: Hi Susan
Dash Earthboy: look to your left Eden :)
    Zen Arado: see her now
Yakuzza Lethecus: maybe there are general implications for any project
Eden Haiku: Are you wearing your invisibility cape Susan?
Eden Haiku: Ah yes, iwandertoo is not sitting yet , that's why ;-)
Eden Haiku: Did it say I claimed the session on your local chat?
    Zen Arado: yes
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Eden Haiku: oh oh... I hope it does record. Previously, it sent me messages saying 'nothing was said"
FcSeeker Resident: [08:09] PaB Listener Master: Eden Haiku has just claimed the session and will receive link to the log after the session is done. This replaces any previous claim. [and I did (phew!!!) even if the Autologger didn't let me know in my local chat!]
Eden Haiku: Oh on mobile, it's difficult Susan. You don't see anything right?
Eden Haiku: Thanks Seeker. I wonder why I don't see the text appearing..
    Dash Earthboy: herrrre's Gracy :)
FcSeeker Resident: can be also some SL lag
    Eden Haiku: Hello Gracy.
    Gracy Rosenfeld: hi
    Zen Arado: :)
    FcSeeker Resident: Hello Gracy
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey gracy
Eden Haiku: I love you fiery tail!
    Zen Arado: Hi Gracy
    Yakuzza Lethecus: wb
    Zen Arado: Burns and Allan
    Gracy Rosenfeld: thanks
Eden Haiku: have you been here before Gracy?
    Gracy Rosenfeld: yes
Eden Haiku: Ah ok ;-) So I have your permission for recording what you say?
    Gracy Rosenfeld: yes
    Zen Arado: I better go
    Zen Arado: bye all
    Dash Earthboy: good luck Zen
    Eden Haiku: Thank you.
    FcSeeker Resident: waves to Xen
    FcSeeker Resident: Zen
Eden Haiku: Good luck Zen :-) Have a cup of tea ;-)
    Eden Haiku: By Susan ;-)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye zen,susan
    Dash Earthboy: bye Susan
    FcSeeker Resident: waves to Susan
    Eden Haiku: Zen is levitating!

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus also sneaks out, nice to see everyone
    FcSeeker Resident: waves to Yakuzza
    Dash Earthboy: bye Yaku (belated)
    Gracy Rosenfeld: bye
    Eden Haiku: Bye Yaku :-)
Dash Earthboy: *changes environment to Sunrise
FcSeeker Resident: seems in my RL that I must also log out
FcSeeker Resident: takes a humble bow
    Dash Earthboy: bye Fc
    FcSeeker Resident: namaste
    Gracy Rosenfeld: k
    Gracy Rosenfeld: bye
Eden Haiku: Nice golden pink rays of sunshine Dash ;-)
Eden Haiku: Namaste Seeker, nice to see you!
    Gracy Rosenfeld: need to relog
    Eden Haiku: ok

    The retreat idea

Dash Earthboy: finding the retreat idea fascinating here
    Dash Earthboy: wb Gracy
Eden Haiku: Hi Gracy, feeling better?
    Gracy Rosenfeld: thanks
Eden Haiku: yes, the PaB retreats seem wonderful Dash. Never attended yet. Are you tempted?
Dash Earthboy: on other group retreats I've been on in the past, participating in regular group activities was augmented rather than diminished
Dash Earthboy: oh Eden, i'm in no shape to try to visit Canada for recreation :(
Gracy Rosenfeld: why do you ask if i am feeling better?
Eden Haiku: Yes, it must add depth to the meetings as you know some people in RL also.
Eden Haiku: Was joking Gracie. Because you had to relog...
    Gracy Rosenfeld: ah ok
Dash Earthboy: yes, the adding depth is great
Eden Haiku: ;-) bad joke I'm afraid ;-)
Eden Haiku: Not all the retreats are in Nova Scotia. Next one is near Seattle ;-)
Dash Earthboy: are you in Illinois Gracy?
    Gracy Rosenfeld: nope
Dash Earthboy: oh? okay...was just noticing the Fermi title
Gracy Rosenfeld: ah i was wondering
Eden Haiku: Met a fellow poet from Montreal I hadn't seen in years. We had been following each other on Twitter.
Gracy Rosenfeld: no. just joined the group
Dash Earthboy: maybe you can attend that retreat then Eden :)
Eden Haiku: And in 15 minutes or so of chatting standing in a poetry event, we excahnged more than in 2 years of Twitter...
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Dash Earthboy: same can be said for phone calls contact
Eden Haiku: No,unfortunately, September isn't good for me this year.
Dash Earthboy: and I really like video chat over all this texting :)
Eden Haiku: Yes, so many tiny infos we perceive through the eyes, the color of the skin changing, the gestures, the vibrations...
Dash Earthboy: never have been much into avatars

    Enough masking

Dash Earthboy: find enough masking in RL
Eden Haiku: Some Indian friend used to Skype me every morning for a while, I found that very intrusive. Stopped it.
    Dash Earthboy: dang
    Dash Earthboy: good friend?
Dash Earthboy: i don't like to be on broadcast lists
Eden Haiku: Nope, just some professor I met a few times in India, at the university there, in symposiums. Nice guy but too communicative for me ;-)
Dash Earthboy: that's why i dropped a couple of SL groups
Dash Earthboy: ah, i see Eden
Eden Haiku: Oh, I have to clean my groups too... I only come to PaB now...
Gracy Rosenfeld: hmm interesting perspective on the virtual world...i would think that there may be honesty rather then masking in the virtual world because of the lack of repercussions as a result of being unknown
Dash Earthboy: yah, PaB is good about not too many notices
Dash Earthboy: one would hope Gracy :)
Dash Earthboy: but experience differs with that perception
Gracy Rosenfeld: i guess it largely depends on the personality of the individual
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Eden Haiku: I think there is honesty and masking both in RL and SL
    Dash Earthboy: yep

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: Sometimes we are even masking truths to ourselves
    Dash Earthboy: yep

    White lies

Gracy Rosenfeld: in the movie invention of lying it touches on the idea of a universe of people who only tell the truth
Eden Haiku: Oh what does it look like?
    Eden Haiku: Must be harsh?
Dash Earthboy: *thinks of movie Liar, Liar
Eden Haiku: Oh, the bell. sorry ;-(
Gracy Rosenfeld: watch the movie and see the perception of the author...yes harsh at times and sometimes funny
    Dash Earthboy: np Eden
Dash Earthboy: of course there are "lies" by omission
Eden Haiku: taking notes "Invention of lying' and "Liar, liar". On Netflix maybe...
Dash Earthboy: but I think it important to speak truth when one talks
Eden Haiku: Do you know abot the catholic notion of "white lies"?
    Dash Earthboy: yes
Eden Haiku: Saying the truth would be too harsh, so you compromise with the truth...
Dash Earthboy: have seen catholic apologies for many things
    Eden Haiku: LOL
Eden Haiku: I did use a "white lie" yesterday.
Dash Earthboy: i see "white lies" in action when one says "that's all i can do" when the truth is "that's all i'm willing to do"
Gracy Rosenfeld: i don't recall the catholics ever directly teaching to participate in white lies
Dash Earthboy: or the ever-present "i'm busy" as an excuse not to do something
Eden Haiku: Easier than telling someone I know that no, I don't want to meet her friend so and so next Saturday... I have enough visitors as it is, I need to protect my writing space somewhat.
Gracy Rosenfeld: do you happen to have a source for that info?
Eden Haiku: No, I think you are right Gracie: it's my interperation of it. Like "venial sin" compared to "mortal sin". Had a catholic childhood ;-)
Dash Earthboy: easier is the rationale for sure Eden
Dash Earthboy: i take the road less traveled by :)
Eden Haiku: People who are not writers have a real hard time understanding you need a lot of space and alone time in order to write. I live with another writer and we spend the summer in the countryside so to protect our writing. But we have to 'white lie' a lot...

    The measurement of sin

Gracy Rosenfeld: hmm can you explain your line of thinking further in how the measurement of sin having difference creates the view of "white lies?"
Dash Earthboy: Eden, I understand what you mean about others' misunderstanding creative people's priorities
Eden Haiku: Oh, not sure if the two notions are really together Gracie. I kind of remember there was a category of lying called "mensonge joyeux" (it means "happy lie" in French) when we were listing sins for the priest at confession. But I didn't confess for so long I might be wrong...
Eden Haiku: They don't even do that practice of formal confession I think these days.

    Priorities

Eden Haiku: Ah, do you also experiment that Dash? About priorities?
Gracy Rosenfeld: hmmm I have also had a catholic childhood and i realize they only taught me a piece of catholism and i believe it would be necessary for me to read the history and other document created by the catholic senior leaders to understand things in completeness
Gracy Rosenfeld: well how they see things that is
Dash Earthboy: i have had problems with those who belittle my need for serene creative space & time yes
Eden Haiku: If I go deeper into the subject of priorities, then I meet a kind of shame of putting "people" after my own need of time and space to create. I always felt that tension: people are more important, for sure. But then I choose who. Family is always ok. I always change plans for them.
Gracy Rosenfeld: curious why someone would belittle someone on that
Dash Earthboy: i think what you've touched on Eden is the catholic rendition of the concept of "intentionality"

Dash Earthboy: i've seen much more apologetics in catholic/christian perspectives on intentionality than i've seen in Eastern philosophies
    Dash Earthboy: philosophy <> religions
Gracy Rosenfeld: can you explain intentionality further?
    Dash Earthboy: me Gracy?
    Gracy Rosenfeld: yes
Eden Haiku: Yes, "intentionality" is what draws the line yes.
    Gracy Rosenfeld: :)
Dash Earthboy: i would find it difficult to explain in this text chat format at this time
Dash Earthboy: my intentions are that i would want to provide you with much clarity on the subject
Gracy Rosenfeld: do you have source perhaps a link?
Dash Earthboy: not right off-hand, sry
    Gracy Rosenfeld: k
Gracy Rosenfeld: if you put the perspective of self actualization into the other discussion, i believe there might be a justification for putting your creativity above those of others
Gracy Rosenfeld: according to maslow's theory
Gracy Rosenfeld: others needs that is

To hurt or not to hurt

Eden Haiku: Was sharing earlier that I attended yesterday a celebration in the forest. We were celebrating our "inner guru". If my "inner guru" were perfectly awakaned, I would feel no more catholic shame when having to say a "white lie" in order to protect my space and my time. My intentionality here is to protect the feelings of the other person. I don't want her to feel hurt by my rejection but the thing is I think she felt it. So it's a matter of choosing not to hurt myself over hurting her. Always a difficult choice.
Dash Earthboy: thing is, Eden, i think "aware" people are still hurt
Gracy Rosenfeld: if you are speaking about me, it is not necessary to protect my feelings
Dash Earthboy: i hear ya Gracy
Gracy Rosenfeld: i am primarily not a "feeling" person
Dash Earthboy: i prefer the truth too
Dash Earthboy: but am a very sensitive "feeling" person
Gracy Rosenfeld: my personality type leans more on the logical
Gracy Rosenfeld: feelings are something to be examined
    Dash Earthboy: yes
Gracy Rosenfeld: as to their origins in understanding myself
    Dash Earthboy: yes
Eden Haiku: This person is very empathic and sensitive and yes, she was aware of it. But then I had to draw a line for her. She's someone I met very recently. I like her but I'm not willing to give her more space into my life.
Dash Earthboy: yet, feelings can also guide us
Dash Earthboy: or at least influence us in applying logic
Dash Earthboy: that's how we're different from machines
Gracy Rosenfeld: feelings can guide us in the wrong direction and i find the feelings can be manipulated so to speak by a change in perspective or logic
Dash Earthboy: i've programmed expert systems and delved into this topic heavily

    Logic and feelings

Gracy Rosenfeld: if the logic is accurate then is it possible that it can be concluded that the feelings resulting are accurate?
    Gracy Rosenfeld: or vice versa?
Eden Haiku: We are physical, emotional and mental beings and all these parts make a whole. They all are equally important in my perspective.
Dash Earthboy: Gracy, that is why it is important to me to share truthful information
Dash Earthboy: masks are usually an attempt to hide truth
    Gracy Rosenfeld: synergy?
Eden Haiku: Germans were very logic during the" last solution" Gracy. They didn't let feelings interfere. That was not a very good idea not to let feelings interfere with their perfect logic.
Eden Haiku: I'm sorry, should have said 'Nazis' instead of 'Germans",
Gracy Rosenfeld: feelings have a purpose i agree
Dash Earthboy: i guess we could have a good few discussions on whether compassion is logical
Dash Earthboy: or if hatred is logical
Dash Earthboy: and other feelings-related topics
    Dash Earthboy: vis-a-vis logic
Eden Haiku: Are you a woman in real life Gracy if I may ask?
Gracy Rosenfeld: hmm did the nazis only use logic or was it hatred and anger that motivated them?
    Gracy Rosenfeld: yes i am
    Dash Earthboy: relevance?
    Dash Earthboy: Eden?
Eden Haiku: Thanks. They used logic mainly it seems. Have you seen "Shoah" the 8 hours documentary by Claude Lanzmann?

    --BELL--

Gracy Rosenfeld: but what fueled the germans were the "passionate" speeches of Hitler
    Dash Earthboy: yes Gracy
Dash Earthboy: he was the orator
Dash Earthboy: after being so shy & timid as a boy
Gracy Rosenfeld: is logic enough to motivate an entire group of people to a revolution?

I'm aware it's only my point of view

Eden Haiku: relevance of asking if Gracy is a woman Dash? I was surprised a woman would praise logic that much. We usually suspect logic as it runs the world and we are not sure it is such a good idea...Most of us, at least.
Gracy Rosenfeld: be bak in a bit
Dash Earthboy: hmmm, i have found women and men to be equally passionate and logical, in amounts varying only by person, not gender :)
Eden Haiku: My experience is that women are more open to feelings in general.
Dash Earthboy: well, that is your experience...thus your perspective huh?
    Dash Earthboy: my differs
Eden Haiku: At least, their are less prone to priotorize logic as a way to live.
Dash Earthboy: i have seen women use logic very much in their choices of everything from dating to 401Ks :)
Dash Earthboy: and not just the programmers either ;)
Eden Haiku: yes, that is my perspective only, I'm aware of that. As a woman, I am used to the fact that my word has no authority in istelf. I speak always only my point of view and I'm always aware it's only my point of view Dash ;-)
    Dash Earthboy: likewise Eden :)
Dash Earthboy: i have experienced much throughout the USA personally
Eden Haiku: I'm feeling very tired now and I will leave at this point, Dash. Say goodbye to Gracy  for me will you, if you are still here when she comes back? Have a great day. I'm going to copy the chat  cause I'm having problems with the autologger recording.
Dash Earthboy: in varying cultural settings
    Dash Earthboy: okay Eden, gtsy
Dash Earthboy: have a good rest :)
Dash Earthboy: i'm stopping for lunch myself :)
Dash Earthboy: Gracy, hope you'll been seen more often around here too :)
