The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.

Calvino Rabeni arrived after about 1/2 an hour in silence on a lovely evening, Aphrodite Macbain joined us to round out the evening.

we chatted for a bit about flow and patience, depth, summer reading, awareness, News Corporation scandal, howling at the full  moon, talking to cats, or cats talking to you,  movies,  Harry Potter... did I miss anything?.

    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Cal
stevenaia Michinaga: a nice quiet summer evening
Calvino Rabeni: :) Stevenaia - how goes it?
stevenaia Michinaga: going well, off to the shore mor a week on saturday
stevenaia Michinaga: just sit in the sand, read and build sand castles
Calvino Rabeni: Is that near or far?
    stevenaia Michinaga: south jersey
    stevenaia Michinaga: 3+ hours
stevenaia Michinaga: close enough to be convenient
stevenaia Michinaga: nice to travel Flow to do nothing
Calvino Rabeni: I think I could do nothing here, but it's more fun to go somewhere else not do do anything
    Calvino Rabeni: *to
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, new surroundings help for some reason
Calvino Rabeni: Less "do this" objects in the environment
stevenaia Michinaga: something that can be accomplished locally with more effort
stevenaia Michinaga: (greater effort to do nothing)... hmmmm
Calvino Rabeni: If life is movement, and not-doing means not-moving, then it would take a lot of work to accomplish
Calvino Rabeni: like stopping the river
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, going against the "flow"
stevenaia Michinaga: easier to nothing in the flow
stevenaia Michinaga: something more comforting about that
stevenaia Michinaga: not needing to do something when you are already part of something

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: awareness becomes an important part of understanding that
Calvino Rabeni: as in, not adding to what's already going fine?
stevenaia Michinaga: as in being aware of when you are going with the flow
stevenaia Michinaga: (or not going with the flow)
Calvino Rabeni: Here's a flow I thought I was part of - http://www.nytimes.com/ - but oddly, it seems off line at this time
Calvino Rabeni: are you aware of the same?
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s online for me
Calvino Rabeni: Awareness is relative :)
Calvino Rabeni: Several computers and browsers tell me it is offline
    stevenaia Michinaga: it's personal
Calvino Rabeni: Ah well, http://news.google.com/ is doing fine.
stevenaia Michinaga: somethng must be wrong, I'm reading about Justin Timberlake
Calvino Rabeni: On the beach, is it fiction or non-fiction?
    stevenaia Michinaga: fiction
Calvino Rabeni: Ah, I am reading about Voldemort
stevenaia Michinaga: I may be seeing it on a rainy night, along with everyone else
stevenaia Michinaga: I will be reading Steg Larson, third book
Calvino Rabeni: That was pretty popular
Calvino Rabeni: The author must give it some pretty compelling properties
stevenaia Michinaga: the first two were how I spent last years vacation
    stevenaia Michinaga: characters are

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: Also I jsut finished the last move of part two of my Tai Chi form... after two and 1/2 years, I think I will take that to the beach and enjoy it
Calvino Rabeni: How many parts are there?
    stevenaia Michinaga: three
stevenaia Michinaga: in the short form we are learning
stevenaia Michinaga: there is always more
    stevenaia Michinaga: it seems
Calvino Rabeni: It's refreshing to learn something in depth
stevenaia Michinaga: lol, that is what begins know... the depth
    stevenaia Michinaga: *now
stevenaia Michinaga: which will take a lifetime, I;m sure
Calvino Rabeni: Yes though, at the beginning, "do this" might not have seemed to HAVE any depth ...
Calvino Rabeni: the depth keeps deepening
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, and with dpeth, greater patience
    Calvino Rabeni: Good evening, Aphrodite
Aphrodite Macbain: Hello. Dpnt want to interrupt.
Calvino Rabeni: I guess those go hand in hand
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Aphrodite
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Stevenaia
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, so many rush, and miss the depth (and the journey)
Aphrodite Macbain: and miles to go before I sleep
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Calvino Rabeni: Apropos of earlier - I might wait on "Deathly" ... I'd wanted to get to "Midnight in Paris" first
Aphrodite Macbain: Supposed to be good
stevenaia Michinaga: loved Midnight in Paris
Aphrodite Macbain: not a typically Woody Allen flic?
stevenaia Michinaga: wellll, unless you consider Owen Wilson AS Woody Allen
    Aphrodite Macbain: brb
Calvino Rabeni: Speaking of doing nothing - Mainly what I remember from Deathly part 1 was, a lot of sitting around in a gloomy valley, with nothing going on
    Calvino Rabeni: except for interiors
    stevenaia Michinaga: Haven't seen that
    stevenaia Michinaga: oh, Harry Potter
    stevenaia Michinaga: nevermind
    stevenaia Michinaga: (duh)
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Calvino Rabeni: I wonder if Fox could do a thriller about Fox with Hugh Grant as a whistleblower
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: I suspect egos might get in the way of even that money
Calvino Rabeni: Art imitating life imitating art imitating ....
Calvino Rabeni: Today was a pretty good facimile of summer, in my view
Calvino Rabeni: I think the weather is finally getting the hang of it
stevenaia Michinaga: summer in a day

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: hoping for that next week
Calvino Rabeni: At the park, this boy figured out, dust is a great toy
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: the world is a place to Play
Calvino Rabeni: :)) and all the people in it
Calvino Rabeni: Nice, no prob. with the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, either :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: back
    stevenaia Michinaga: wb
Aphrodite Macbain: I hate outrageous fortune
Aphrodite Macbain: far too many slings and arrows
Calvino Rabeni: Although I have to admit It has a better sound than heinous misfortune
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Calvino Rabeni: And I have to admit, I think I'm staying marginally ahead of the whips and scorns of time
Aphrodite Macbain: time and fortune - both constructs
Aphrodite Macbain: perhaps if I try not to believe in them they'll go away
Calvino Rabeni: I did dodge some arrows (or was it slings) today ... near miss between car and my motorcycle ... oddly though it didn't scare me (although I considered that maybe it OUGHT to)
Calvino Rabeni: So I settled for "being concerned" and "remembering"
Aphrodite Macbain: Yes, it OUGHT to
Aphrodite Macbain: next time you may not be able to remember
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-(
stevenaia Michinaga: I had a similar feeling once when I rolled my car upside down
Aphrodite Macbain: sorry. I'm in my pessimistic phase. Must be the full moon
    Calvino Rabeni: Arooooooo
    Aphrodite Macbain: aawooo
stevenaia Michinaga: are we howling at the moon?
Aphrodite Macbain: hair is beginning to grow on my palms
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes
Aphrodite Macbain: where else would we howl?
    Calvino Rabeni: Sirens?
Calvino Rabeni: Those seem pretty popular in the neighborhood
    Aphrodite Macbain: Poor old Ulysses
Calvino Rabeni: It always makes me laugh how the dogs love to answer
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, a kindred spirit in the city
    Calvino Rabeni: Yeah
stevenaia Michinaga: I respond to my cat talking
Aphrodite Macbain: There's a fire station down the street from me. The dogs love it
Calvino Rabeni: And I keep thinking, they'll start up with the other dogs down the street, but it seems the fire truck is necessary as a medium
Aphrodite Macbain: what do you say Steve?
Aphrodite Macbain: to your cat when it speaks
stevenaia Michinaga: I say,..... whatever you want
    Aphrodite Macbain: lucky cat
stevenaia Michinaga: I am his pet, I have no choice
Aphrodite Macbain: The birds have stopped singing now... must be bed time for birdies
Aphrodite Macbain: does he wake you up in the morning to be fed like mine do?
    Aphrodite Macbain: exactly at 7AM
stevenaia Michinaga: no, comes inside after a night out in the hood
Calvino Rabeni: Here's a day at the beach doing nothing - https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Ww_S2YrtQdnxm9XIjpv4ZEWm4hVzksqh3-QmDn25lJE?feat=directlink

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: and then he wants to be fed
Aphrodite Macbain: my cats dont know what outside is
    Aphrodite Macbain: outside
    Aphrodite Macbain: except the roof
Calvino Rabeni: Ah, finally, the Times is back .. I was getting concerned
stevenaia Michinaga: news corp doesn;t own that yet
Aphrodite Macbain: Happy life as a turtle in the sun
stevenaia Michinaga: bedtime for me, night all
    Aphrodite Macbain: Nite Stevenaia
    Aphrodite Macbain: sleep well
stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm, lost my face, when did that happen
Aphrodite Macbain: I still see it
Calvino Rabeni: You look fine :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Is that like "loosing face"?
stevenaia Michinaga: oh, ok, all I see is my eyes
Aphrodite Macbain: hmm. Could be worse
stevenaia Michinaga: and everything else but not my face
Aphrodite Macbain: perhaps the full moon playing with you
Aphrodite Macbain: Now he's gone entirely
    Aphrodite Macbain: Love your photographs
    Calvino Rabeni: Thanks !
Aphrodite Macbain: Do you take alot and then edit down?
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
Aphrodite Macbain: or do you choose them carefully?
Calvino Rabeni: I caught the swallows in flight
Calvino Rabeni: but missed the bumblebee in the morning glory
    Calvino Rabeni: all too fast
Aphrodite Macbain: I missed the swallows- just saw the boyy and the turtle
Calvino Rabeni: especially with a cheap flower
    Aphrodite Macbain: hhe
Calvino Rabeni: i mean camera, to catch the flower :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: cheap camera?
Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps I'll sign up for Picasa
Aphrodite Macbain: It would be good to unload my pics theer.
Aphrodite Macbain: Can you control who sees them?
Aphrodite Macbain: or ar e they accessible to everyone?

Aphrodite Macbain: aww. Looks lie Vancouver
    Aphrodite Macbain: like
    Aphrodite Macbain: The gallery cant?
    Aphrodite Macbain: what gallery?
Calvino Rabeni: the photos are in a collection

    Calvino Rabeni: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ftqNvXv6vzMgB5maa9ZVREWm4hVzksqh3-QmDn25lJE?feat=directlink
