Hokon Cazalet: i dont zaldaan
Zen Arado: no Zal
Zen Arado: can't say I do
Zaldaan Sirnah: Or multiple groups which collectively meet at such frequent intervals :)
Zen Arado: 28 meetings a week !
Hokon Cazalet: lol
Zen Arado: once or twice a week is what most can manage
Zen Arado: it can be hard to get guardians for all the meetings
Zaldaan Sirnah: What happens without guardians?
Zen Arado: hopefully another fills in
Zen Arado: or else the meeting isn't recorded
Zen Arado: can be difficult at this time of year as so many go on vacation

Rhiannon Dragoone: I spent a lot of time at Philosophy island in my wayward SL youth, and saw how paranoid people get; actually mentally ill, trying to psych out alts
Zen Arado: yeh..I suppose you can just respond to ppl as you find them
Rhiannon Dragoone: I think that's the best way.
Rhiannon Dragoone: Oh, you do realie that some people think Hokon's my alt

Rhiannon Dragoone: And lokifluff dlarity banned the estate manager of my sim from her sim,, as she is dertain Blackenened is me.
Zen Arado: yeh..I can see how you could get into all sorts of suspicions and doubts about this
Zen Arado: I don't know how you cope with that group
Zen Arado: all those ppl yammering away
Rhiannon Dragoone: birric forcella thinks that a guy name Larry Mavros is me.
Rhiannon Dragoone: I generally don't bother with them.
Zen Arado: going off on tangents and hobby horses of their own
Zen Arado: and that's just me :)
Rhiannon Dragoone: oh, you mean my group?
Zen Arado: yes
Rhiannon Dragoone: It's easy really; you jus honor each person and steer them subtly back to the theme
Zen Arado: easier in RL I think
Zen Arado: cos you can't all talk at once they way we do in text
Hokon Cazalet: id agree
Rhiannon Dragoone: In RL, you have more control; more authority
Zen Arado: yes
Rhiannon Dragoone: heh. It's not the text; try managing a group when they all talk in voice and try to shout each other down
Zen Arado: and if you can't type fast in SL your voice gets lost
Zen Arado: yeh that happens too
Rhiannon Dragoone: With text, at least you can look at what each is saying and respond to multiple persons almost simujltaneously
Zen Arado: but all talking in voice is what happens in RL and you can stop them hopefully
Zen Arado: hmmm yes
Zen Arado: you don't lose any of it
Rhiannon Dragoone: You can with a physical presence
Rhiannon Dragoone: You don't lose any of it with text.
Zen Arado: snap

Philosophy and teaching:

Zen Arado: what kind of philosophy do you teach in RL Rhi?
Rhiannon Dragoone: Actually, in rl, although my Ph.D. is in philosophy, I teach writing and mathematics
Rhiannon Dragoone: atm
Rhiannon Dragoone: I've taught philosophy in the past.
Zen Arado: I see
Zen Arado: pure math?
Rhiannon Dragoone: Mostly algebra
Zen Arado: I noticed you knew what an isomorphism was the other week
Rhiannon Dragoone: yeah.
Zen Arado: I did some pure math as part of my first degree

How to prioritize and develop skillsets:

Zen Arado: I seem to have so much to do in SL lately
Rhiannon Dragoone: yeah, tell me about it
Zen Arado: should narrow my interests
Rhiannon Dragoone: oh, where's the fun in that?
Rhiannon Dragoone: What are your interests in SL?
Zen Arado: yeh true :)
Zen Arado: but am doing things in a shallow way
Zen Arado: well atm I ma getting involved in Being Theater Players
Zen Arado: we had our first production last month
Rhiannon Dragoone: Cool. That would take a lot of time though
Zen Arado: I would like to do something for the next ....show?
Zen Arado: yeh
Zen Arado: I realize I need so many skills I haen't got
Zen Arado: need to be able to build a set
Zen Arado: come up with ideas
Rhiannon Dragoone: Well, tht's the first step; you now know you need the skills; the second step is to acquire them.
Zen Arado: work out music to use
Zen Arado: yeh
Zen Arado: need to use a rezzer to erect a set quickly
Zen Arado: and work with photos
Zen Arado: would like to learn how to do animations too...
Zen Arado: just need a few more hours each day
Zen Arado: watched a guy doing ballet last night
Zen Arado: in SL
Zen Arado: it was quite good...the animations
Zen Arado: I am learning how to make a music track too
Zen Arado: and I'm learning guitar and how to make a composition using multiple tracks
Rhiannon Dragoone: Zen, we all need few more hours in the day
Zen Arado: playing into my laptop
Rhiannon Dragoone: you are busy
Zen Arado: maybe I am setting myself unrealistic goals
Rhiannon Dragoone: Well, the only way to know that is to see if you can achieve them.
Zen Arado: and I need time to paint and finish my university course
Rhiannon Dragoone: Well, prioritize and see how it goes.

milakel Resident: i really think it would be lovely. you have beautiful paintings that would fit very well to theater decorations.

Zen Arado: I'm not used to that
milakel Resident: only storm can pull off a one-man project :)

milakel Resident: you only need to learn a few basic tools really
Zen Arado: I would have to cut bits out of paintings and use them a textures

Zen Arado: I sometimes get the feeling everyone in SL is better with computers than me
Zen Arado: so many computer geeks
Zen Arado: but I guess I do ok for someone my age
