    SophiaSharon Larnia: must say**
SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry cant type today
milakel Resident: oh, wait! are you the tree goddess? :)

    --BELL--

SophiaSharon Larnia: I changed my play, but sort of
SophiaSharon Larnia: how did you know
    milakel Resident: hehe
milakel Resident: duh! cause i was there at the presentation :)
    milakel Resident: i forgot :/
    milakel Resident: *pokes qend*
    milakel Resident: :P
SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles and thinks of dancing trees during the 90 sec pause haha
    milakel Resident: hehe
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes you were there Lila, I forgot, I cant remember that far back in SL ;p
milakel Resident: the scene was beautiful
    milakel Resident: decorations
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Mila*
SophiaSharon Larnia: thanks! I changed it though
milakel Resident: eh... i wonder if they will ever figure out how to transfer our mind to a new body so we could live forever :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hmm
SophiaSharon Larnia: im not sure if I want to live forever
milakel Resident: given dualists are right and the mind is separate from the body :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Ewan
milakel Resident: ah, sure you do, neko girl :)
    milakel Resident: ewan :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: it seems that virtual reality may be heading that direction, just a thought
    Ewan Bonham: Hi Folks..
    milakel Resident: yes, could be
milakel Resident: i think one of the first glimpse of that was in the lawnmower man :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: is that a movie?
    milakel Resident: yes!
milakel Resident: don't tell me you haven't seen it! :)
    milakel Resident: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104692/
    Ewan Bonham: Manyyears ago..
SophiaSharon Larnia: nope, will now though, wow i was about to post that very link
    SophiaSharon Larnia: 1992
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ancient! hahah
    milakel Resident: hehe
    milakel Resident: yes. distant 92
milakel Resident: i remember watching it as a kid
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
milakel Resident: it was later though
SophiaSharon Larnia: its such a fantastical idea
    milakel Resident: me wants
milakel Resident: death is so frightening
SophiaSharon Larnia: would a being who existed in that way be said to exist in a "human' level of existance, as if there were other kinds
SophiaSharon Larnia: death is frightening to me because of who i lost, im not sure if I am afraid to die
Ewan Bonham: i think that was one point of the movie
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh i must see it now :D
    milakel Resident: hehe
SophiaSharon Larnia: discussions like this are difficult for me because of the ambuigity of what happens after death
SophiaSharon Larnia: its all conjecture :)
milakel Resident: well, in any way, something has to support our mind
    milakel Resident: haha
milakel Resident: well, let's assume for all practical reasons that it's the end, sharon :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: like if youre hungery and tired, your mind doesnt seem to function?
milakel Resident: and it's just... so depressing
SophiaSharon Larnia: the end the end?
milakel Resident: i've never seen a person who lived twice :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: that would make the sole goal of life to pass on the genes
Ewan Bonham: Unless there is a greater purpose..
SophiaSharon Larnia: i keep telling myself not to be pinned down by any idea
milakel Resident: sharon, if you somehow transfer our mind into the electrical impulses in the network, how do you get sensoric data? what if the network is down?
SophiaSharon Larnia: perhaps the sensoric data is transfered in a way unknown to us at this time
SophiaSharon Larnia: what if there is no such this as network down
    SophiaSharon Larnia: thing*
Ewan Bonham: Yes, but how do you know when it is being transfered?

    --BELL--

milakel Resident: i'm so amazed by soldiers or other brave people who give out their lives for something greater than they are
Ewan Bonham: Do you sense it?
milakel Resident: sharon, yes, if this lump of electrons can somehow adapt to it :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: what is sensoric data? I think of physical stimuli.
milakel Resident: all our senses in this context
SophiaSharon Larnia: sense of self as well?
Qend Resident: as a soldier, you fight for your own life too. Do you go in aiming for death?
milakel Resident: qend, no, but... people enlist to go to war. they have to face it.
milakel Resident: each lost life is a tragedy
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, it seems to be part of being human
milakel Resident: i don't think i could do that
SophiaSharon Larnia: people are so very diverse :) I love that (most of the time haha)
    milakel Resident: :P
milakel Resident: we have like 80 years here... if you're lucky enough. it's just a glimpse.
SophiaSharon Larnia: a glimpse of what?
    milakel Resident: of life
SophiaSharon Larnia: its funny, I was thinking just a few hours ago how so much of living is feeling - physical sensation and emotional
SophiaSharon Larnia: like I caught myself doing it
milakel Resident: i don't think it's ever "enough"
milakel Resident: unless a person is terminally ill
Qend Resident: hopefully by the end you want to go?
milakel Resident: don't want to think about that
Qend Resident: I don't feel like I'm living my life in a way that is .. how I want to live it. But if I imagine what it is I want -- I don't know.
milakel Resident: qend, i think many can share this feeling
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
    Ewan Bonham: nods
milakel Resident: pema on the other hand seems to lead a perfect life :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
    milakel Resident: *giggles*
milakel Resident: sadly, he's not here to ask
milakel Resident: but i think he'd complain about lack of time and excess of emails :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
SophiaSharon Larnia: because he fills his days so ;p
milakel Resident: it's also interesting how someone else's life often seems better
Qend Resident: and .. I have so many small interests.. not that small though -- they require time and learning investment. I have those, but if I think about any of them, I don't see them matching my greater aspirations.
SophiaSharon Larnia: Pema is the founder of our group here Qend
Qend Resident: so I don't do those either. I don't know how to unify my life
    milakel Resident: qend, hmm
    Ewan Bonham: nod..
SophiaSharon Larnia: hobbies :) One of the few times its very easy to be in the moment
milakel Resident: qend, maybe some focus and persistence would help?
milakel Resident: sharon, or out of the moment :)
Qend Resident: of course -- I could if I felt these had significance more than another
milakel Resident: in your own litle frame of happiness
Qend Resident: I look at other people and their "hobbies" and I wonder, how is it people chose THAT as something they wanted to do
milakel Resident: coincidence, most of the time, i think :)

    --BELL--

    SophiaSharon Larnia: (brb)
milakel Resident: people you meet, topics you discuss, places you go
milakel Resident: all shape us and our hobbies
Qend Resident: what are your hobbies?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: back
milakel Resident: um, i'd call them interests
SophiaSharon Larnia: and reading.... I think SL has taken over as one of my hobbies. Is that bad?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: grins
    milakel Resident: hehe
    milakel Resident: yes, sl, indeed
Qend Resident: I don't like that I like chat so much.
Qend Resident: Reading is so fulfilling
Qend Resident: what books would you read to understand greek philosophy?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
milakel Resident: reading chat can be as well :)
Qend Resident: not some type of analysis of it -- but the original works
SophiaSharon Larnia: chat is difficult to get your point across sometimes
SophiaSharon Larnia: Id have to look that one up Qend
SophiaSharon Larnia: or learn greek :)
Qend Resident: and ask greek people directly!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
SophiaSharon Larnia: i assumed you meant ancient greek philosophy, but there i go assuming again
Qend Resident: sometimes they are not assumptions but our sensitivity to the message being conveyed
Qend Resident: the words just being along for the ride
Qend Resident: you received what I was saying correctly
SophiaSharon Larnia: our filters and expectations?
Qend Resident: is it a good goal to try to understand what an individual is saying?
SophiaSharon Larnia: well, iI think so, you may not feel the same way they do
Qend Resident: what if truth resides in being purely connected in some other way.. internally somehow.. sensitive to some other state of your being such that someone saying something does not distract you, and you behave according to the truth of all Being
Ewan Bonham: We are all unique..:)
Qend Resident: We are all unique..:)
Qend Resident: Perhaps if someone develops such sensitivity, they are true to all things, instead of the normal reactions and limited perceptions
SophiaSharon Larnia: Id still want to listen and make sure i didnt misunderstand what someone thought they were trying to say
    milakel Resident: phone
Qend Resident: oh.. listen.. and listen carefully!
Ewan Bonham: Thank you all....I do agree...listening is an art and an important part of any relationship...:)
Qend Resident: hear it, but perceive it differently
Qend Resident: I have to go as well.
milakel Resident: speaking is an art as well :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes to both haha
Qend Resident: art is a speaking
milakel Resident: cause say if you this may understand not person a :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Ewan !
SophiaSharon Larnia: can you say that again mila :)
milakel Resident: ok, i sound like yoda now :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: giggles
    milakel Resident: haha
milakel Resident: that was an exampel of "bad speaking" :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh i thought just bad typing
SophiaSharon Larnia: sometimes the thoughts go faster than the mouth or fingers can keep up
milakel Resident: and having your perfect listening perceiving skills may not help you :)
    milakel Resident: hehe
    milakel Resident: yes, happens
    milakel Resident: and they do!
Qend Resident: how is typing with two hands different from writing with one?
SophiaSharon Larnia: that happens to me irl alot
    milakel Resident: it's faster :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: barely for me!
    milakel Resident: haha
milakel Resident: neko girl you're cute :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: grumbles
milakel Resident: always make me giggle :P
Qend Resident: if I write with one hand is it more fitting to get out my thoughts?
Qend Resident: For maybe my fingers move so quickly, prior to having thought out my sentences
milakel Resident: it's just a method, i think
milakel Resident: but if you slow down your thoughts it's generally easier to convey them :)

    --BELL--

SophiaSharon Larnia: yes indeed, although the opportunity may have passed you by lol
    milakel Resident: ha!
milakel Resident: it's the curse of chat
SophiaSharon Larnia: very confusing to elequently answer a question asked 15 minutes ago
milakel Resident: especially a fast paced one
milakel Resident: you have to be quick!
    milakel Resident: or else
    SophiaSharon Larnia: right!
    milakel Resident: it's gone
    milakel Resident: poof
    milakel Resident: :)
milakel Resident: but on the other hand...
SophiaSharon Larnia: irl, you may sit in companionable silence while thinking
    SophiaSharon Larnia: (sorry bell)
milakel Resident: this constraint may help you organize your thoughts better
SophiaSharon Larnia: not for me, if i talk too fast without thinking, i get all emo
milakel Resident: unlike when you're writing a book and sit in front of a blank paper with infinite time on your hands
    milakel Resident: haha
milakel Resident: geez, you're cute :)
    milakel Resident: emo kitty :P
SophiaSharon Larnia: stepped back from pab because i couldnt seem to control the emo chat
    Qend Resident: afk :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :) ok
milakel Resident: sharon, you keep doing it and soon enough, the brain will catch up on the pattern :)
milakel Resident: i like your chat. please continue :)
milakel Resident: it's the challenge you have to face! come on! :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: and, it is slightly difficult to continually talk about things that are conjecture, like the life after death discussion
milakel Resident: pab is the place to help you :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: i can clear out a room in no time flat
    milakel Resident: yes, i agree
SophiaSharon Larnia: sometimes your mind just has to rest in its inquisitiveness
milakel Resident: that's why i seldom bring it up... and rather quickly it deters to other realms :)
milakel Resident: "inquisitiveness" - cute :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive noticed you bring it up before
    milakel Resident: yes... evil me
    milakel Resident: sorry :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nooo
    SophiaSharon Larnia: no judgement
    SophiaSharon Larnia: jus sayin
milakel Resident: yes, apparently it concerns me
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive wondered if humans are actually the hungry ghosts
    milakel Resident: hmm
milakel Resident: i've seen them in a japanese cartoon
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ohh funny
    milakel Resident: um...
    milakel Resident: forgot the storyline
milakel Resident: they wander around and eat stuff
milakel Resident: japan has a fascinating culture
SophiaSharon Larnia: and then i wonder if humans are all sorts of beings
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes :)
milakel Resident: i wish i could do research on various cultures and their relation to languages
milakel Resident: that would be cool
    SophiaSharon Larnia: languages? etymology?
SophiaSharon Larnia: I cant really tell you what ive learned now, but I am interested in how languages form and spread
milakel Resident: more like language structure and patterns that are caught on in every day culture
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh. like 'google'
SophiaSharon Larnia: i understand what you mean i think, a regional dialect changing in time?
milakel Resident: language is an integral part of us. how we communicate. this is the primal force of everything that surrounds us in society.
milakel Resident: that is also interesting
milakel Resident: language is an ever evolving organism and you can see how people optimize and adapt it to the current situation
milakel Resident: but i'm curious in how our reasoning and mental ability is affected by it

    --BELL--

SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, or our biases
SophiaSharon Larnia: im sure biases have been skillfully altered by marketing gurus
milakel Resident: oh, those are masters of persuasion
milakel Resident: a lot of social psychology studies are on this
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes. I find them disturbing to read
milakel Resident: cialdini's book is one classical example
    milakel Resident: oh, why?
milakel Resident: i find them highly entertaning - all the stories :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: thinking of manipulation makes me uncomfortable
milakel Resident: well, it happens everyday with us :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
SophiaSharon Larnia: and to 'drop out' of that makes you wonder if you are not actually having a severe depressive episode
milakel Resident: even the road you walk on. someone "manipulatively" laid it down this way :)
    milakel Resident: hmm
milakel Resident: can be overwhelming, i guess
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Santoshima
milakel Resident: just like me trying to grasp infinity :)
    Santoshima Resident: hello
    milakel Resident: sant :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: no, i meant, i think we're programed to think if we dont want 'things' we are depressed
SophiaSharon Larnia: welcome to Sl Santoshima
    milakel Resident: hmm
SophiaSharon Larnia: this is a group called play as being, have you been here before?
Santoshima Resident: thanks, yes a few times, yes recording is fine
SophiaSharon Larnia: thank you so much!
milakel Resident: well, that's what manufacturers want us to think :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: nice to meet you
    Santoshima Resident: likewise
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes Mila, that is what i think of first when i hear of those studies, did not mean to veer the conversation away from talking about language, that is something else altogether
    SophiaSharon Larnia: language evolves too
SophiaSharon Larnia: I am so sleepy and am off to bed soon. :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: goodnight Mila, Qend, Santoshima
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye for now
    Santoshima Resident: goodnight rest well
SophiaSharon Larnia: (mila must be in IM) haha
