Wol Euler was guardian for this session.

    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: hello sam
    oO0Oo Resident: :) Wol
Wol Euler: it's always nice to see you here
    oO0Oo Resident: .·´`·.·✿
    oO0Oo Resident: <3
    oO0Oo Resident: ✿·.·´`·
    oO0Oo Resident: .·´ ¸.·*¨) ¸.·*¨)
    oO0Oo Resident: (¸.·´ (¸.*´ ¸.·´
    oO0Oo Resident: `·-*¤ ♥
    oO0Oo Resident:
    Wol Euler: ooooh :)
    oO0Oo Resident: hehehe
Wol Euler: I hope that will show up properly in the log :)
oO0Oo Resident: just so long as it arrived to you Wol
    Wol Euler: awwww <3
    Wol Euler: how's life?
    oO0Oo Resident: yep... lively
    oO0Oo Resident: ;)
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
oO0Oo Resident: are you getting enough sleep?
    Wol Euler: not nearly :)
Wol Euler: but the competitions are both finished, and the building job is opening on October 8 and therefore *must* be nearly finished :)
Wol Euler: so I will soon be in a greatly different time-space
oO0Oo Resident: oh nice Wol. Didn't realise you had so much on.
Wol Euler: yeah, it built up slowly
    Wol Euler: anyway :)
Wol Euler: so I have a weekend off, for the first time in ... don't know how long
Wol Euler: there will be napping :)
    oO0Oo Resident: :)))
    oO0Oo Resident: sure
oO0Oo Resident: sure there will be
    oO0Oo Resident rolls eyes
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: no really :)
Wol Euler: I only have one work-type engagement today, none tomorrow, and nothing but shopping and housecleaning and laundry to do :)
    Wol Euler: :-P
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
oO0Oo Resident: Your heels could do with a sharpening as well
    Wol Euler: ha!
    oO0Oo Resident: lol

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: they are pretty pointy
oO0Oo Resident: both pretty and pointy
    Wol Euler: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: like your hair
Wol Euler: thank you :) it's new to me, found it by chance today
oO0Oo Resident: I've been thinking of you lately as I try and negotiate through space in SL. It is interesting . Because we often move from the camera point of view, the designs of buildings comes into question. What are your thoughts on building for movement and ease of seeing in SL?
    Wol Euler: veyr tricky!
Wol Euler: avatars are so much larger than humans, and the default camera position is a further metre or more higher
oO0Oo Resident: Some structures are really well designed from a certain point of view, but don't need for instance the support beams to be as frequent etc.
Wol Euler: rooms need to be much larger than RL-sizes to be comfortable
    oO0Oo Resident: yes
oO0Oo Resident: and to take into account room for caming about
    Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: that gravity is optional is of course a help :)
Wol Euler: every architect dreams of cantilevering buildings out sideways without support
Wol Euler: in RL it's tricky, you need huge counterweights
    Wol Euler: here, null problemo!
Wol Euler: it's funny, in RL we (architects) tend to put up walls and then say "there, it's finished, the tenant can paint or wallpaper that"
Wol Euler: in SL the prim object is only the beginning, it comes to life through texturing
Wol Euler: SL architecture is mostly about texturing
Wol Euler: you can have fun bending prims, but that is not what makes buildings look good
oO0Oo Resident: If I learn to build (one day _/\_)I should like to make a pair of spectacles with simply two lenses that float infront of the eyes.
    Wol Euler: easy enough :)
Wol Euler: two ovals of the right size (thickness will be the issue here) plus a nosepiece for the centrepoint (this may be invisible if desired)
Wol Euler: link them with the nosepiece as "root"
Wol Euler: wear them on your nose
Wol Euler: adjust the position to bring it forward from your face slightly
    Wol Euler: done :)
Wol Euler: but ever here, you need some texturing :)
Wol Euler: because the glasses need edges, even if there is no frame as such the cut edge of glass looks different to its surface

    --BELL--

oO0Oo Resident: You make it sound so easy
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: as I said, the prim work is easy enough, easy to learn
Wol Euler: we can do that right now if you like :)
    Wol Euler: create a cylinder
Wol Euler: stretch it to roughly the right shape
Wol Euler: get rid of the plywood effect :)
Wol Euler: give it a bit of colour and some transparency
    oO0Oo Resident: oooh
    Wol Euler: copy it
Wol Euler: but you already see the problem: the thickness
Wol Euler: without trickery, prims cannot be thinner than one centimetre
    oO0Oo Resident: oh? odd
Wol Euler shrugs. Just the way the system works
oO0Oo Resident: how does one make things appear thinner?
Wol Euler: typically by hollowing them out :)
Wol Euler: that makes an outer surface and an inner surface
Wol Euler: you then turn the outer transparent ... and voila!
Wol Euler: won't work in this case, since the hollowness of a cylinder is round too
    Wol Euler: see?
Wol Euler: so what I would do is just make the backside and edges invisible
Wol Euler: by selecting those individual surfaces and changing them
oO0Oo Resident: Do you do much building in SL?
Wol Euler: see? if you cam around it, there is only a front
Wol Euler: not really, no; I can twist prims but I can't texture
    Wol Euler: not an artist
Wol Euler: and I found prim-twisting unsatisfying
oO0Oo Resident: these lenses would go well with your hair :)
Wol Euler: now we need a nosepiece
    Wol Euler: ty :)
    oO0Oo Resident: nosepiece is necessary?
Wol Euler: not really, they would float well without it
Wol Euler: but they make positioning easier
Wol Euler: if you use your nose as the attachment point, then ... hmmm, just a moment, is that true?
    oO0Oo Resident: ah.. I see
    Wol Euler: let's try
    Wol Euler: link them together
    Wol Euler: and take it
    Wol Euler: (to inventory)
Wol Euler: and wear it :)
    Wol Euler: (attach to nose)

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: now modify the attachment, so that they sit properly :)
oO0Oo Resident: hehehe cool.. thanks Wol
    Wol Euler: yw
    oO0Oo Resident: a spectacle tutorial
oO0Oo Resident: gravity is over rated
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: except as a body-mesh slider :)

Mila joins us, wearing the Molecule Theatre's traditional paper-bag-over-the-head.

    Wol Euler: morning, baggy :)
    milakel Resident: hi :)
    oO0Oo Resident: :) Mila
milakel Resident: ah, good to be here
    Wol Euler smiles.
milakel Resident: been in bed with cold a few days :(
    Wol Euler: boo
oO0Oo Resident: aw... feeling better now I hope Mila
milakel Resident: hey! nice costume, woly :)
    Wol Euler grins.
    Wol Euler: thank you
milakel Resident: yes, sam. going there. thank you.
    milakel Resident: non-clickable :)
    Wol Euler: what?
milakel Resident: um, costume parts :)
    Wol Euler: ha :-P

    --BELL--

milakel Resident: the day of silence went wonderfuly so i heard
milakel Resident: sadly, couldn't be here. but i was silent in bed taking my part :)
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
oO0Oo Resident: Part of the idea was to feel connected to others everywhere
    oO0Oo Resident: so
    oO0Oo Resident: you were there
milakel Resident: yes, certainly felt this way
milakel Resident: beautiful pics from the event too
milakel Resident: i hope it all made the world a little more peaceful :)
    Wol Euler nods.
oO0Oo Resident: well, I do think there is some kind of traction that could happen from a broadly accepted day of peace on an annual basis
oO0Oo Resident: everything starts somewhere somehow
    Wol Euler nods.
oO0Oo Resident: I thought of you Mila in the last couple of days when reading about experiments at CERN which suggest that neutrinos may travel faster than light
milakel Resident: oh, funny :) i was in fact watching the webcast that same day from cern :)
milakel Resident: most likely an error in measurements, but still exciting
oO0Oo Resident: there was that damage to the hadron collider which was a very big setback
oO0Oo Resident: so, one could imagine
milakel Resident: pema said "i've seen too many of such announcements made" to take them seriously :)
oO0Oo Resident: fair enough. have to listen to that with more weight
milakel Resident: that would set a new golden age of physics, fund numerious programs if it turned out to be true
    oO0Oo Resident: yes
milakel Resident: yet, the chance is so minuscule
    Wol Euler nods.
milakel Resident: on a side note. woly, you ever been to caputh?
Wol Euler: no idea, where is it?
Wol Euler: or what is it?

    --BELL--

    milakel Resident: sorry, phone...
    oO0Oo Resident: np
    oO0Oo Resident: Caputh?
Wol Euler: ah, a town near Potsdam, in the MeckPomm lakes area
Wol Euler: no, haven't been there
    oO0Oo Resident pokes Mila

There followed a long pause (as far as the Listener was concerned) in which 0 and I talked about life etc. in IM.

Wol Euler: my dears, I will have to leave, work calls
Wol Euler: plus shopping, plus sunshine
Wol Euler: take care, enjoy the weekend
oO0Oo Resident: Thanks Wol... enjoy the day. Thanks for the build tutorial.
oO0Oo Resident: I guess I'll wander too. Go chase some neutrinos in hopes that time travel will be possible, and then... I can become a superhero who goes back in time to save children from grumpy parents.
oO0Oo Resident: See ya next time Mila
    oO0Oo Resident: Heal up
    --BELL--
milakel Resident: ah, that was a long call :)
