Susan Sorensson (iwandertoo): we are sitting on the porch waiting for the sun to pop up...
    Eliza Madrigal: oooohhhh
    Eliza Madrigal: that sounds lovely
Susan Sorensson (iwandertoo): using the ipad is luci
    Eliza Madrigal smiles

Eliza Madrigal: Oh of course no worries

    Eliza Madrigal: I like musicals
    Susan Sorensson (iwandertoo): waves
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    Susan Sorensson (iwandertoo): tc, eliza
Eliza Madrigal: take care too :)

Korel and I settle in to chat...

Eliza Madrigal: And how are you doing Korel? :))
Korel Laloix: THink I might be catching a cold or the like.
Korel Laloix: But not bad yet.. yet.
    Eliza Madrigal: aw... have remedies?
    Korel Laloix: How about you?
Korel Laloix: If it hits I will take out the ginger tea.
Eliza Madrigal: to be perfectly honest this has been a terribly difficult week but it is nice to be here
Eliza Madrigal: ginger tea is good to take beforehand too
Korel Laloix: Oh.... difficult in abad way or good way?
Korel Laloix: I am.. and vit c zinc and other stuff.

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: another is tumeric in milk... calming
Korel Laloix: I soooo can't do milk.
Eliza Madrigal: many of these things are simply anti-inflamatory
    Korel Laloix: The lactose thing.
Korel Laloix: I do almond milk though.
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, I see... yes, yummy
Korel Laloix: Milk kills my tummy and makes other people want to avoid me the next day.
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Korel Laloix: I should have a nice slow day at work today as the boss is out.
Eliza Madrigal: those are nice :)
    Korel Laloix: I think so.
    Korel Laloix: brb

    Eliza Madrigal: and weekend plans?
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, sure
Korel Laloix: We have a fundraizer for a hospice that Erin supports tomorrow.
Korel Laloix: That is about it.
    Korel Laloix: And writing papers
Eliza Madrigal: Do you do volunteer or work with hospice?
Korel Laloix: I don't, but Erin does.
Eliza Madrigal: does she talk about that? how it affects her, what she notices, etc?
Korel Laloix: So she is helping set it up then bought tickets to go.... which to me is sort of odd... but it does support
Eliza Madrigal: :) yes that tends to be the way
Korel Laloix: She does not do the actual contact with the clients.... she does more of the finances and admin stuff.
Korel Laloix: I think she deels enough with sick people at work that she does not want that sort of contact when out of work.
    Eliza Madrigal: yes understand
Eliza Madrigal: there are times and seasons for things...
Korel Laloix: And I bet they are just happy to have someone do the paper work stuff.
    Eliza Madrigal: of course!
Korel Laloix: It is good work and it makes her happy, so I of course help out as well.

Eliza Madrigal: it seems you have a very supportive relationship
Eliza Madrigal: how do you manage that? talk a lot?
Korel Laloix: I just help her with what she needs.
Korel Laloix: I am much better at math anyway.
Eliza Madrigal: Oh :)) so it just falls in line for you two then
Korel Laloix: But it is stil mostly Erin, I don't want to sunds like I do a lot with it.
    Korel Laloix: Oh yes.
Eliza Madrigal: that's what I wondered... sometimes people's senses about things agree without effort
    Korel Laloix: It is important.
Korel Laloix: WE seem to agree on a lot of things like that.

Korel Laloix: We completely disagree on politics though.... lol
    Eliza Madrigal: really? haha

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: That will be fun.
Eliza Madrigal: I have quite a few friends whose spouses see the political realms entirely upside down to their own views... interesting pattern
Korel Laloix: WE are just from such big different background is the point I guess.
Eliza Madrigal: for me I'm noticing something different... there seem to be more people that I don't agree with but admire their determination to do their own thinking... their way
    Korel Laloix: people here?
Eliza Madrigal: and people I agree with but don't necessarily agree with how they make their points
    Eliza Madrigal: not really here
Eliza Madrigal: Here I'm less in a political mind usually :)
Korel Laloix: Where is there, sorry I forgot.
    Korel Laloix: Oklahoma herre.
    Eliza Madrigal: Miami
    Korel Laloix: OH OK.
Korel Laloix: I have been there.
Eliza Madrigal: we have an interesting political climate :)
Korel Laloix: Tulsa is an odd plae for sure politically.
Eliza Madrigal: yes I remember that you lived in Florida for a while?
Eliza Madrigal: I've been there, too :)

Korel Laloix: I am very poisoned to the idea as my mom works for a political party.
    Korel Laloix: Paid I mean.
Eliza Madrigal: her wrongs don't necessarily negate everything that touches her :) I mean, she had you too
Korel Laloix: No... let me gather the right words.
    Eliza Madrigal: sure
Korel Laloix: I don't resent the political party she works for.
Korel Laloix: I resent the political system she is working in.
    Korel Laloix: THat makes sense?
Eliza Madrigal: only a little I think
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not a fan of systems in general
    Korel Laloix: Neither am I.
Eliza Madrigal: can get lost in them and lose the point of things entirely
Korel Laloix: I can't stand either of our big political parties.
Eliza Madrigal: then the resources go to the system rather than to people
    Korel Laloix: Yes.
    Eliza Madrigal nods

Eliza Madrigal: you and I for instance would not be voting in the same way probably (though who knows by then) yet... doubtful that either of us would agree with everything that comes with a vote along a party line
Korel Laloix: My generation is getting particularly angry as our future is being mortgaged without end or acountibility.
Eliza Madrigal: there is little way to parse... and some votes don't even count, due to the state one lives in and the lines drawn
    Korel Laloix: True.
Eliza Madrigal: honestly, it has always been thus... it is a football passed back and forth

Korel Laloix: I might actualy do some campaign work this next round though.... I am that angry.
Eliza Madrigal: what is interesting is that recent books on historical economics talk about how in almost every society charging interest for certain things was considered immoral
Eliza Madrigal: and unfortunately, one issue can make people so angry that they swallow ten others without realizing it...
Korel Laloix: But it is not just one issue...... lots of things.
Eliza Madrigal: sure, I don't doubt you have reasons for your passions
Eliza Madrigal: I campaigned a lot for Obama last time :) It is how I found SL

Korel Laloix: SO we will see.. and it wil be fun Erin and I working in opososite directions..
Korel Laloix: I can't stand Obama.... Erin loves him...... lol
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: that's good... important not to let opinions obscure reality
Eliza Madrigal: I used to let my opinions create divisions with family members etc
Korel Laloix: If the republican come up with someone with even a quarter of a brain, I will be campaing for them. That is sort of doubtfull looking at things now, but I am hopefull.

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: My mom and I actualy agree that Obama is sexist and racist. IN a rare moment of agreement we both supported HIllary. ANd hope she challenges OBama in a primary.
Eliza Madrigal: I don't think that will happen, we'll see

Eliza Madrigal: Does it help to say 'this person is ___' though?
Eliza Madrigal: I mean, none of us are one thing and almost any quality might appear in some context, or be read that way
Korel Laloix: I think so, as a lot of people dont sit and look at things, only taking in what they want to see and hear.
Eliza Madrigal: he doesn't seem to have a racist, sexist agenda, to me... perhaps an idealistic one of compromise
Korel Laloix: I could go down several laundry lists of examples, but I would just end up getting myself rather irritated... lol
Korel Laloix: ANd not what I want to do.
Eliza Madrigal: which is a little disapointing to me at times... wanted his eloquent voice to speak in the way it did during campaigns. There have been a few moments but we'll see
    Eliza Madrigal laugh
Eliza Madrigal: yes let's not do that :))

Eliza Madrigal: in the end what matters more is what we do one-on-one I think
Eliza Madrigal: in the moments that arise

Korel Laloix: Was having a bad arguement about it with Erin shortly after we started dating..... so she agreed to  she still does not agree, but sees my point sit down with me and watch vidoes of him and read some tings....she still does not agree, but sees my point of view..

    Eliza Madrigal: mmmm, very supportive
    Eliza Madrigal: respectful
Eliza Madrigal: politics used to be a central focus of mine... now it seems a diversion

Korel Laloix: What I realy get tired of though is white people telling me when I should be offended by someone or not... usualy base don their political views.
Eliza Madrigal: oh, like 'you are ___, therefore should be for ____'
Korel Laloix: Exactly.. and you can gues how that usually goes.
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Korel Laloix: lol. it is funny though sometimes.

Eliza Madrigal: digging deeper though, isn't it about labels?
Eliza Madrigal: in the same way to say that someone *is* this or that

Korel Laloix: I went to one of these minority meetings when I was til down in Tampa and they were comlaining about this one professor and how he only gave good grades to white men and prety white girls.
Korel Laloix: So they were trying to figure out how to make a complaint..... they just really could not stand the guy as he was not politically with them.
Eliza Madrigal nods... am sure that happens a lot
Korel Laloix: Then I had to bring up the fact hat I had him the previous semester and tied for the highest grade in the course.
Eliza Madrigal: just like in neighborhood politics
Eliza Madrigal: well, you're probably very pretty, hehe
Korel Laloix: They did not invite me back...... lol
Korel Laloix: I make up well, but I am dark and petite.

Eliza Madrigal: almost any time someone is targeted it seems not for the reason someone says or thinks it is
Eliza Madrigal: Stim used to say in the WoK workshop that we can be 'blind to our blindness'
    Korel Laloix: True for sure.
Eliza Madrigal: so I try to stop myself and ask how much I'm not seeing ... even this election though I couldn't imagine voting for any of the candidates against Obama so far
Eliza Madrigal: :) sounds like you can't either
Korel Laloix: I can't imagine voting for him..
Korel Laloix: If I can't stand at all any of the Reps, I wil vote green or libertarian.

Eliza Madrigal: unfortunate that third parties have gained so little ground
Korel Laloix: I don't understand that.
Korel Laloix: But there is a lot about politics that I don't understand.
    Korel Laloix: brb

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: nor do I really. (understand) ... it has to do with 'systems' and resources, probably
Korel Laloix: And as you say labeling.
    Eliza Madrigal nods nods
Eliza Madrigal: we're all supposed to fit into neat little boxes :)
Korel Laloix: I don't mind lables, but I understand they can me missused.
Eliza Madrigal: yes, and even systems aren't inherently evil
Korel Laloix: And that is why I annoy so many, I don't fall into their little boxes.
Eliza Madrigal: but can't be relied on or trusted in
Eliza Madrigal: you do seem to have many clashing categories :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Korel Laloix: No, you do..... smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: heheh
Eliza Madrigal: well it makes things less tidy but interesting

    Korel Laloix: heya
    Santoshima Resident: hey
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Santoshima :)
    Santoshima Resident: hi
Eliza Madrigal: Did I read right, that you met the retreaters??
Santoshima Resident: yes, went wed and came back last night
    Eliza Madrigal: wow!
    Korel Laloix: lovely
Santoshima Resident: glad to have gone
Korel Laloix: I would like to possiblty catch one next summer.
Eliza Madrigal: What can you share?
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, great Korel
Santoshima Resident: that would be good, korel
    Santoshima Resident: a lovely setting
    Korel Laloix: brb
Santoshima Resident: very good time, but ... alas i just realized i have a meeting ... and can't stay
Eliza Madrigal: you haven't been in SL very long Santo, was it strange to meet a cluster of avatars?
    Santoshima Resident: apology
    Eliza Madrigal: ooohhh
Eliza Madrigal: OK, maybe you'll attend the theme session too
Santoshima Resident: yes, i will try
    Santoshima Resident: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I actually have to go as well...
Korel Laloix: IT is a slow day thankfully.
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks for the friendly political chat Korel :) We show it can be done, hah
Korel Laloix: I came in early as well as my second class did not meet today.
    Korel Laloix: lol
Eliza Madrigal: Have a pleasant Friday :) sounds like you will
    Korel Laloix: Ciao.
Eliza Madrigal: bye for now :)
