oO0Oo Resident cams in on sheepdog bangs ;)
    Eliza Madrigal laughs

    oO0Oo Resident: :))

    Eliza Madrigal: haha, perfect
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sopha :)
    oO0Oo Resident: SSL :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Eliza, Susan, Samuo :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: at the retreat, Susan? you're up early!
oO0Oo Resident: I think her avie has been there snce yesterday
Eliza Madrigal: I think she is stuck in SL somehow, yes
Eliza Madrigal: I was up at 4am for the early session and she was here also
oO0Oo Resident: But she made it to the retreat
SophiaSharon Larnia: Oh. She was in that same place yesterday.
    Eliza Madrigal: yay
Eliza Madrigal: So there have been reports already?
oO0Oo Resident waves to point Robinson folks
    Eliza Madrigal waves too
SophiaSharon Larnia: hmm, Susan left yesterday saying "I think I see Storm" lol
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Boots :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: or something like that
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Eliza Madrigal: hard to miss our Storm

    (who also gives *great* hugs)

    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Boots
    Boots Danitz: hello gang :)
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Boots
SophiaSharon Larnia: nice to see ya
Eliza Madrigal: I heard a lovely story this morning... mind if I share it?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sure!
    oO0Oo Resident: please!
Boots Danitz: go ahead :) please do
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks... it isn't long :)

Eliza Madrigal: There was a woman by a stream, enjoying the peace and tranquility. She looked in one area and saw something glittering like a gem in a spot by the trees. She went over to pick it up … finding a precious gem the size of her fist. This would take care of her very well for the rest of her life. Materially she had always had very little. She went back to her spot, considering all the things she could buy with the money she could get from this gem…

A man came up and told her that he was very hungry. What could she give him? She reached into her bag and handed him some bread. Then he saw the gem. Commenting on how beautiful it was he asked her, “Please let me have it; I need it.”

The lady smiled and said “Yes, you can have it,” giving him the precious gem. The man took it home with him, knowing that this gem would take care of his needs for the rest of his life.

But, the next day he went back to the lady by the stream. “I must give this back to you,” he said. Handing her the gem, he asked “In exchange I would like something else.”

“What more could I give you?” she asked. He answered “Whatever you have, that made you able to give me that stone.”

    Eliza Madrigal: [end]
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hmm
    oO0Oo Resident: :)) Nice
    SophiaSharon Larnia: great story, thanks
Eliza Madrigal: :) Found it moving in a simple way
    Boots Danitz: very nice indeed
    Boots Danitz: yes
Eliza Madrigal: was thinking about 'practice' and the point which isn't really practice but something else :)

Boots Danitz: i guess i would also love having that which made her give the stone
    oO0Oo Resident: generousity?
    Boots Danitz: indeed plus detachment
Boots Danitz: detachment i find quite tricky at times
    Dash Earthboy: hey y'all
Eliza Madrigal: seems so, yes, stability and security of a different sort
    Boots Danitz: hello dash
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Dash
oO0Oo Resident: Hey Dash. Good to see ya
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Dash
SophiaSharon Larnia: nice to see ya
SophiaSharon Larnia: can you say more Boots?
    Eliza Madrigal listens

Boots Danitz: well detachment i find quite difficult
Boots Danitz: i mean i have to fight my own preconceptions
Boots Danitz: preconceptions of what i want or better yet need to be happy
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Boots Danitz: and even though i know i carry within me all that i need i tend to keep on assigning value to the stuff outside me
    Eliza Madrigal nods and relates
    oO0Oo Resident considers reconceiving
oO0Oo Resident: giving up is a neverending process

Boots Danitz: its like with other people, i keep on thinking i would love it if they acted differently yet i know i cant shape or modify their ways
    Boots Danitz: indeed samud
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)

oO0Oo Resident: just cover them in leather Boots
    oO0Oo Resident: i Zen
Eliza Madrigal: that's the trickiest Boots!
    Dash Earthboy: hey Zen
    oO0Oo Resident: *Hi
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Zen
Boots Danitz: attachment marks the path to frustration
Boots Danitz: at least for me it does

    --BELL--

    Boots Danitz: hello zen
    Zen Arado: (Hi All)
Dash Earthboy: sometimes i've found detaching too much can leave one isolated
Boots Danitz: care to explain more dash?

Dash Earthboy: after struggling with my coming from an "addictive" personality family, I have learned not to attach to things that have no feelings
Dash Earthboy: but attaching, of itself, does not lead to frustration
    Eliza Madrigal: interesting perspective
Dash Earthboy: just making choices to attach to good people can lead to much joy
Eliza Madrigal: we have a rather addictive world

Boots Danitz: i find in my case the pain arises from assigning a set of my own expectation to things and people outside
Boots Danitz: like expecting the mrs to behave some way or my friends or my boss

Zen Arado: why can't we just enjoy people without becoming attached to them?
Boots Danitz: i believe one can manage it zen
Dash Earthboy: why not attach Zen?
Eliza Madrigal: maybe the thing is just not assigning them responsibility for our contentment
Boots Danitz: just as long as i dont assign expectations
    Dash Earthboy: for sure Eliza
Zen Arado: cos itr hurts when they leave Dash :)
    Boots Danitz: indeed eliza
Dash Earthboy: awww, Zen, sry about that
Eliza Madrigal: so often we're interacting with our expectations instead of the people there with us
Dash Earthboy: i've had long distance relationships
Boots Danitz: losing is as much a part of living as breathing
Dash Earthboy: they can surely be a roller coaster ride
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods
    Dash Earthboy: agreed Boots
Boots Danitz: thus attachment is a bitch
Zen Arado: yeh have to live with the losses
Eliza Madrigal: does someone have an open microphone?

Boots Danitz: especially as sometimes it doesnt allow one to enjoy those that are around us
Boots Danitz: not that i know of
    SophiaSharon Larnia: not I
Dash Earthboy: my mic indicates "off"
Eliza Madrigal: I've been hearing sounds... children, then car, then heavy breath :)
Boots Danitz: lol i cant see myself thus i cant even tell if i have my voice thingy on
    Boots Danitz: lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :) oh dear
SophiaSharon Larnia: Im afraid I cant see you eityher ^^
    SophiaSharon Larnia: either*
Boots Danitz: no1 can im afraid
Boots Danitz: in a cloudy mood 2day lol
SophiaSharon Larnia: but can see your text perfetly
Dash Earthboy: Eliza, that kind of stuff is happening here in RL
    Eliza Madrigal: hmm
Dash Earthboy: except for the heavy breathing :)
Zen Arado: is attaching wanting things to stay the same?
Eliza Madrigal: well it may not be heavy to the person doing it, lol
Dash Earthboy: not to me Zen

Boots Danitz: well zen in my experience attachment is avoiding change
    Boots Danitz: or fearing it
Boots Danitz: damn chat lag lol
Zen Arado: marriage is a form of attachment?
    Boots Danitz: not necesarily
Dash Earthboy: to me, yes Zen
Eliza Madrigal: depends on who you ask :)
Eliza Madrigal: for some it is freedom
    oO0Oo Resident: <3

Boots Danitz: i once read that the truest form of love is based on loving without expectations
    Zen Arado: yeh
Dash Earthboy: Yes, Eliza, and I find freedom in such attachment
Boots Danitz: if both can manage that then attachment can be avoided and the love you recieve and give is unconditional
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes you meet couples who are so freed by one another... content and supportive
Eliza Madrigal: let off the hook from dating for one thing :)
Dash Earthboy: boots, show me "unconditional" sometime :)
    Boots Danitz: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: heh
    SophiaSharon Larnia: (@ Eliza)
Boots Danitz: well dash i dont claim i have achieved it yet
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Boots Danitz: though in a way one can love ones children that way
Dash Earthboy: i've never seen "unconditional" Boots
    Eliza Madrigal: nice point Boots
Boots Danitz: lol most of the time
Dash Earthboy: but i've heard many claim it
Zen Arado: attachment just an idea anyway

Boots Danitz: lets leave it as an aspiration then dash
Eliza Madrigal: well we live in a conditional world
    Boots Danitz: :)
Zen Arado: we never stay the same
    Dash Earthboy: right Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: we try to predict and insure everything
Boots Danitz: i aspire to love unconditionaly without expectations of anything in return
    Eliza Madrigal: :) me too
Zen Arado: when attached I want freedom..when free want attachment
Boots Danitz: therein lies the pain eliza
Dash Earthboy: not We "me" Eliza
    Zen Arado: :)
Eliza Madrigal: thanks Dash, I know you have a problem there, but it isn't mine :)
Dash Earthboy: and the "we" isn't mine :)
Boots Danitz: holding on to something or some1 that cant be held derives frustration
    Eliza Madrigal: sure
Zen Arado: we except you Dash :)
Boots Danitz: and increases pain of sorts too
    Boots Danitz: lol
    Dash Earthboy: ty Zen
Zen Arado: there is no 'me' anyway
Eliza Madrigal: it sort of goes back to the beginning of our conversation today... what is the heart of the matter?
Zen Arado: so maybe no 'we ' either
Eliza Madrigal: is it the rules we keep, or are the rules pointers?

    Boots Danitz: hello xir
Dash Earthboy: good to see y'all
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Xirana
Dash Earthboy: pax et bonum y'all
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xirana :)
    Zen Arado: Hi Xirana
    Eliza Madrigal waves to Dash
    Zen Arado: bye Dash

    --BELL--

    oO0Oo Resident: Bye Dash
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi everyone:)
Eliza Madrigal: and Hi Rikku :)
Zen Arado: did I offend Dash?
Eliza Madrigal: no Zen, I wouldn't worry
    Xirana Oximoxi: oh! why Zen?
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, I think he had to go?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: (i mean no)
Eliza Madrigal: he has a job now
Eliza Madrigal: seems to like Colorado, etc
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Xir
    Boots Danitz: :)
Eliza Madrigal: though there are friendly debates of course :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Sam:)

Eliza Madrigal: What does Rikku mean, Xirana? :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I gues he is a cat:)
Xirana Oximoxi: nothing special...if I would have found a dog I would take with me in SL too:)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: and as Bruce and Arch always come with a fish....

Eliza Madrigal: hehe, yes... something nice about free companions
Xirana Oximoxi: a way to show I like all animals:)... except mosquitos
Eliza Madrigal: fish in air, etc
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    Boots Danitz: lol
oO0Oo Resident: I love your handstand and Walt Whitman poem Xir!

Eliza Madrigal: they surely get more sleep :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ha
Zen Arado: she jumped in herself
oO0Oo Resident: maybe the fish are under there somewhere
    Boots Danitz: lol
    oO0Oo Resident: ;)
Eliza Madrigal: must be it, haha
    Zen Arado: :)
Eliza Madrigal: and the water birds
Eliza Madrigal: since the fish are taking up the air
oO0Oo Resident: and the gems that find there way home
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    SophiaSharon Larnia: <3

    Eliza Madrigal giggles
SophiaSharon Larnia: i called my sisters sista, few others lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: brb :)

oO0Oo Resident: speaking of pets sleeping more... Zen those "event" are pretty far out on the scale of that teeter totter
    oO0Oo Resident: *events
Eliza Madrigal: (Xirana and Zen let me share the story with you that I shared at the beginning... in a notecard)
Zen Arado: pretty heavy events eh?
    oO0Oo Resident: ;)
Eliza Madrigal obviously needs to get to the dome and read more notecards
Xirana Oximoxi: ok, thank you very much, Eliza
    SophiaSharon Larnia needs to finish
    Eliza Madrigal: yw :)
Eliza Madrigal: I've enjoyed the displays though
    Eliza Madrigal: and playing goldilocks
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ha!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yea
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Zen Arado: nice story Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: so many stories about precious gems and wishing trees and pearls
Zen Arado: 'events' comes from a quotation from an old prime minister here years ago

    --BELL--

Xirana Oximoxi: I must go now... nice day to all and see you soon
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, Zen?
Zen Arado: "When asked what represented the greatest challenge for a statesman, Macmillan replied: 'Events, my dear boy, events'. ..."
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Xirana!
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, okay Bye Xirana :)
    Zen Arado: bye Xirana
Eliza Madrigal: ooooh, hah.. does this mean unpredictable happenings?
    Zen Arado: guess so
Zen Arado: all happenings unpredictable I guess too
    oO0Oo Resident: Bye Xir
SophiaSharon Larnia: events sounds like what their job would entail
    Alfred Kelberry: wuff!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Boxy :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hey Boxy
    Zen Arado: Hi Alf

Eliza Madrigal: you are still carrying that gun... what can we say to disarm you?
SophiaSharon Larnia: and please mind where you point that gun, too
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: mmm, what lovely dark haired girls :)
Zen Arado: he's scared of my cat :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: flattery will get you everywhere

Alfred Kelberry: *looks around* oh, the gun!
    Alfred Kelberry: forgot about it
oO0Oo Resident: goodness knows what's been on that dogs nose
    Eliza Madrigal: hahahaha

    Eliza Madrigal: flowers I'm sure
    oO0Oo Resident: aw
Zen Arado: he's a guard cat
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Zen Arado: pretty mean too
    SophiaSharon Larnia: heh
    Zen Arado: don't rile him
Eliza Madrigal tries to touch the cat... feel far enough away
Eliza Madrigal: detached, as it were
oO0Oo Resident: how does he feel about random touching?
    Alfred Kelberry: heh
    Eliza Madrigal: random touching?
Eliza Madrigal: wow we've made friends I think
    Eliza Madrigal: ::squeals::::
SophiaSharon Larnia: the cat comes to you when you touch it?
Alfred Kelberry: i think good as long as it's a tender touch stroking the fur :)
    Alfred Kelberry: yay!
    Eliza Madrigal: thank you kitty
SophiaSharon Larnia: ooh i want one
Zen Arado: I told him it was ok
SophiaSharon Larnia: if it wasnt 32 prims
Eliza Madrigal: zen vouched for me
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Alfred Kelberry: does the kitty have a name?
    Zen Arado: nope
Eliza Madrigal: :)) we each give him the name we think she should have
oO0Oo Resident: I vote for moonwalk
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
    Alfred Kelberry: or wetwalk
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
    Eliza Madrigal: mercat

oO0Oo Resident: kk so the woman only saw the glimmer of the gem while she was already enjoying the peace and tranquility next to the river

Alfred Kelberry: oh... i think she peed in the pond
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
Eliza Madrigal: that's okay its naturally clarifying
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
oO0Oo Resident: maybe it's gold alfred
Alfred Kelberry: better than on a cushion, i agree :)
Eliza Madrigal: maybe a few more water plants might help, for circulation
oO0Oo Resident: catnip in a planter box
    Alfred Kelberry: *purrs*
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: here kitty :)
Alfred Kelberry: *attracts the kitty with the bone*
    SophiaSharon Larnia: huh
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: you have tamed her Zen
    oO0Oo Resident: YouTube video
Alfred Kelberry: oh, that won't work for a tiny av, zen :/
oO0Oo Resident: The cat and dog playing in harmony
Zen Arado: scared to put him in attack mode
Zen Arado: so hard to get him stoped again
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    Zen Arado: gets carried away
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye all, going to try to finish my art thingy today, hopefully

Eliza Madrigal: :) ohhh which reminds me... saw the most wonderful commercial yesterday... a google one... was literally crying at the tv
    Alfred Kelberry: url?
    oO0Oo Resident: link!
    Alfred Kelberry: *prepares napkins*
    Eliza Madrigal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4vkVHijdQk
Alfred Kelberry: oh yes! i've seen this one - cute indeed :)
Zen Arado: clever using children for advertising
    Eliza Madrigal: =P~

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: clever advertising doesn't negate that it is a very sweet idea too :)
Alfred Kelberry: took him a while to type "dad" :)
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Zen Arado: yeh but plays on emotions
Eliza Madrigal: nice when men can be gentle :)
Zen Arado: you like it and realize they are dong that at the same time
oO0Oo Resident: Google is very good at these sentimental adds. I teared up for sure, but also see the parallel with Joe the Camel as Google plays it's nym wars forward.
    Eliza Madrigal: nym wars?
    Alfred Kelberry: joe the camel?

Zen Arado: I was thinking how clever Amazon are getting at making me buy thngs this morning
    Alfred Kelberry: do tell, zen
    oO0Oo Resident: Sorry "Joe Camel" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Camel
Eliza Madrigal: haha - making you
Zen Arado: soon as I buy somethng they are in there with other recommendations
Zen Arado: and just tailored for me
Eliza Madrigal: oh that's for sure... but also entertaining... like if you type bat and then in the margins all these bat links
Eliza Madrigal: just like window shopping
Zen Arado: maybe they are getting too good at it
Eliza Madrigal: I feel like its gone so far as to lose its potency a bit
Eliza Madrigal: I shop way less than even 5 years ago
Alfred Kelberry: zen, you teach the system the more you buy :)
    Zen Arado: I know
Eliza Madrigal: but I like going to shops now, whereas back then found it very stressful
Zen Arado: well I am buying more books now on Kindle
Zen Arado: it is so easy
    Eliza Madrigal: ah :)
Eliza Madrigal: that might be dangerous
Zen Arado: one click and you've got it
Zen Arado: and that book leads to other books
Alfred Kelberry: i haven't bought a real book for ages now
Zen Arado: spiralling into book hell
    Zen Arado: book addiction
Alfred Kelberry: *counts how many trees he's saved*
Zen Arado: need a book fix
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
oO0Oo Resident thinks... hmmm.. if we can just fashion some little kitty water skis, a wee boat...
    Zen Arado: just one more
Eliza Madrigal: the bad taste I have in my mouth from years of buying in, makes it hard to buy things now which is a bit of a problem
Alfred Kelberry: zen, and you manage to read them all?
Zen Arado: and then I'll stop....
    Zen Arado: no
    Zen Arado: tahts the problem
    Alfred Kelberry: heh
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Alfred Kelberry: well, make a rule. no new book until you finish the one you're reading :)
oO0Oo Resident: how about a PaB community library, with free books that are unencumbered to share
Eliza Madrigal: what if it is terrible?
    Alfred Kelberry: um...
    Alfred Kelberry: too bad :)
Eliza Madrigal: haha, and nice idea Sam
Alfred Kelberry: can you return it?
    Zen Arado: too hard Alf

Eliza Madrigal: I like holding a book still... order lots of used books mostly
Zen Arado: I don't have room for them
Eliza Madrigal: I keep few though, long term
Zen Arado: will have to give a lot away
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Zen Arado: (then I can buy more)
Eliza Madrigal: the kindle seems really nice though
Alfred Kelberry: i've read an interesting article that compared the ancient scroll with the current ebooks
oO0Oo Resident: Read that too Boxy
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
    Zen Arado: oh?
Alfred Kelberry: there's always a trade off. you can't navigate as easily on a screen than a real book for example.
    Zen Arado: yeh true
Eliza Madrigal would like to have to go back to wax sealing letters and sending them snail mail or by carrier, hah
    Zen Arado: can't flip through
Alfred Kelberry: yet it takes much less space
Alfred Kelberry: aww, so romantic, eliza :)
oO0Oo Resident ties a wee message to the leg of a carrier pidgeon, and sends it toward Miami Florida USA
    Alfred Kelberry: heh
Eliza Madrigal: aw, maybe not by pidgeon, though they may need work too
Zen Arado: not a reliale method Sam :)
    oO0Oo Resident: Ghost Dog
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Alfred Kelberry: poor pigeons. no union to stand for their rights.
    Eliza Madrigal: yet
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    --BELL--

Alfred Kelberry: i like this ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPCH2D2IIVM
Zen Arado: (wonders how old Alf is)
    Alfred Kelberry: heh
Alfred Kelberry: well, univac was way before my time :)
    oO0Oo Resident: in dog years?
Eliza Madrigal: haha.... this is great
Alfred Kelberry: but i like computer history :)
Alfred Kelberry: your average phone is now more powerful than this beast taking up the whole room :)
oO0Oo Resident: *200 mathematical calculations per second*
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: amazing
Eliza Madrigal: even processing punctuation marks!
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
Eliza Madrigal: have you seen the film Desk Set?
    oO0Oo Resident: Have not :)
    Alfred Kelberry: oh, i haven't
    Alfred Kelberry: looks interesting
Alfred Kelberry: ok, must watch it :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes it is a must
Zen Arado: like Eddie Izzard on computing
    Zen Arado: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: 57
    Zen Arado: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbvwZ4LWeEc&feature=related
Alfred Kelberry: the year my dad was born :)
Eliza Madrigal: is that a hint at your age that Zen asked? hehe
Zen Arado: feels so old :(
    Alfred Kelberry: eliza ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
    Zen Arado: Hi Santo
