The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.

The session lasted over two hours and embraced topics ranging from local elections and children's playground  games to CTRL-SHIFT-1 and 99-Days news flashes.

    Where else but PaB?

Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Boxy. Hey, Kori girl.
    Korel Laloix: osiyo
    Korel Laloix: brb
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)

    --BELL--

Alfred Kelberry: isn't dream in cafe?
Bruce Mowbray: Amazing the knowledge you have of SL, Boxy.
Bruce Mowbray: I'd never known about ctrl - shift - 1 before
    Alfred Kelberry: heh
Bruce Mowbray: yes, Dream Circle in Cafe -- NOW!
Alfred Kelberry: not really amazing when you look for it :)
    Alfred Kelberry: you're not coming?
Bruce Mowbray: easier when someone like you tells me about it. . .
Bruce Mowbray: No, I am GoC of this session, so I cannot do Dream.
Korel Laloix: What is the circle again?
Bruce Mowbray: go enjoy... and dream happy!
Alfred Kelberry: eh, sad. time overlap.
Bruce Mowbray: The Dream Circle (Maxine's) meets at this same hour in the Kira Cafe.
    Alfred Kelberry: ok, I'm going
    Korel Laloix: About dreams?
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, Boxy!
Korel Laloix: I never remember my dreams and when I do I don't want to remember them.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, you might enjoy checking it out.
Korel Laloix: So just not the thing for me I guess.
Bruce Mowbray: It is a very good group, as I understand.
Bruce Mowbray: I do not remember my dreams either, Kori.
Bruce Mowbray: When I wake up, there is a mish-mash of emotional feelings -- but nothing clear.
Korel Laloix: I know I have them though... I sleep in a sleeping bag all the time partially because I am always cold... but a lot because I kick so much I end up throwing off the covers.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I also sleep in a sleeping bag through the winter....
Bruce Mowbray: It is good for minus 20.
Bruce Mowbray: haven't gone to it yet this season, though.
Korel Laloix: I just have a cheap one from Target.
Bruce Mowbray: Mine -- believe it or not -- cost $400.
Bruce Mowbray: and it came with a unique serial number.
Bruce Mowbray: and was custom-made for moi.
Korel Laloix: lol.. a bit fancy for me.
Bruce Mowbray: but it is wonderful. . .
Korel Laloix: I think I paid 20 bucks for this one.. children sized.
Bruce Mowbray: and just the ticket for getting through COLD winters in Ohio.
Bruce Mowbray: Today it is over 70 degrees here, though.
Bruce Mowbray: May I ask you a personal question -- You do not have to answer, of course.
Bruce Mowbray: Why do you come to PaB?
Korel Laloix: Grandma tried to freeze me to death all the time in the summer though so it is good for me then as well.
Korel Laloix: Have asked myself the same question.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Korel Laloix: I just like hearing different perspectives on things.
Bruce Mowbray: I find you to be a fascinating person -- so that's why I am interested,.
Korel Laloix: And a good consistent place to chat while I am at work.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmm.
Korel Laloix: lol.. Thanks.. I think.... smiles
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Oh -- I am very safe.
Bruce Mowbray: I find that "different perspectives" is one of the major reasons I come, also.
Bruce Mowbray: You are the only person I know, for example, who has distain for the Occupy movement.
Korel Laloix: And this place is not threatening when I want to talk about really interesting topics.
Bruce Mowbray: and I find your views very interesting.
Korel Laloix: Philosophy island is just people sitting around insulting each other.
Korel Laloix: So this is good to see.
Bruce Mowbray: In fact, I forwarded your email on to one of the fellows I know who is so PRO-Occupy that it's become an obsession with him.
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Bruce, O and Korel :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Sharon!
oO0Oo Resident: Hi SSL :) .. Bruce and Korel :)
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, 0! (Sry, didn't see you sitting there).
Korel Laloix: The whole thing scares me more than the Tea Party does.
Bruce Mowbray: We're talking about why we come to PaB.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ok thank you
    Bruce Mowbray: Really, Kori?
Korel Laloix: But then again, one of my half brothers is in it.
    Bruce Mowbray: please say more....
Korel Laloix: SO I trust his judgment.
Korel Laloix: I look at a lot of different news places.
Korel Laloix: The anti-Semitism is frightening.
Bruce Mowbray: which? your half-brother in Tea Party or in Occupy???
Korel Laloix: And when you have to have special safe places for women protestors, it is seriously wrong.
    Korel Laloix: Tea Party.
Bruce Mowbray agrees, if that is the case.
Bruce Mowbray: special places for women, in Occupy?
    Korel Laloix: Yes.
    Bruce Mowbray: oh dear,
    Bruce Mowbray: seems counter-intuitive.
Korel Laloix: Not to mention all the sexual assaults and outright rapes (alleged so far, no convictions as of yet)
Bruce Mowbray wonders why these things are not reported in the media.
Korel Laloix: They are, you just have to look.
Korel Laloix: I you go to the rightwing hack sites they are linked readily.
Bruce Mowbray thinks maybe it's because the Republican presidential candidates are filling up the time with sexual harassment.

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: But of course you don't seem them in the mainstream sites.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Luci :)
    Lucinda Lavender: hi all:)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Luci!
Korel Laloix: Anyone is better than Obama.
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Lucinda :)
Korel Laloix: So hope Hillary challenges him.
    Bruce Mowbray: Mmmmm. . . .
Bruce Mowbray ponders the implications of "anyone."
Korel Laloix: If the Reps come up with candidates with half a brain (doubtful) I will campaign for them.
Bruce Mowbray: Kori and I were talking about our individual reasons for coming to PaB sessions. . .
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
Bruce Mowbray: Do Luci, 0, or Sharon wish to put in their positions on that?
Lucinda Lavender: I think that sometimes I am looking for a rest and come here
Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm..... Can't think of a better reason, Luci.
Bruce Mowbray: To be able to rest in any weather. . . inner or outer.
Lucinda Lavender: yes...and focus on things other that the state of accumulated disorder around me
    Bruce Mowbray ponders "accumulated disorder."
Lucinda Lavender: well...home projects create mess
Bruce Mowbray: yes. . . I also have several messes of my own.
Lucinda Lavender: and I tend to try to keep up with that
Bruce Mowbray: a full-time job, for me.
    Lucinda Lavender: another big reason...
    Lucinda Lavender: being with others
Korel Laloix: I am overly organized.
Korel Laloix: No clutter allowed around me... smiles
Lucinda Lavender: luci listens...how is it accomplished?
    Bruce Mowbray also listens.
Korel Laloix: I am just overly Type A personality.
Bruce Mowbray thinks that a no-clutter world is not possible with him.
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
Korel Laloix: Everything has to be orderly around me or I get cranky.
    SophiaSharon Larnia likes some disorder
Bruce Mowbray: Is it a matter of balance?
Lucinda Lavender: for me my order might be another person's disorder:)
    Bruce Mowbray: or control?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: heh
Korel Laloix: Oh yes, I am a control freak..
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Perhaps one of the myths we live with is that "order" is possible -- and also something that we could objectively measure.
Bruce Mowbray: when actually, "order" might be just an emotional sentiment.
Lucinda Lavender: I came home people like to be able to find their stuff......and some like less stuff showing...
Korel Laloix: I am pushy, and if you let me I will take over most things... smiles
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Lucinda Lavender: ooops sorry...started to tell you about coming home sick...
Bruce Mowbray: Well, Kori, it is good that you're aware of this in yourself.
    oO0Oo Resident: aw Luci (*)
Bruce Mowbray listens for more from Luci about coming home.
    Lucinda Lavender: lightheaded and nauseous
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh :(
    Bruce Mowbray: oh dear!
Korel Laloix: People either really love that or hate it.
Lucinda Lavender: many kids sick at school to
    Korel Laloix: You OK?
    Bruce Mowbray: flu season already???
Lucinda Lavender: yeah I came home and started cleaning...always a good sign
    Lucinda Lavender: ha ha
    SophiaSharon Larnia: cleaning?
Bruce Mowbray: cleaning is good for the soul (or whatever).
Korel Laloix: I have been relatively healthy recently... hoping to keep that up.
Bruce Mowbray will send healing thought to Luci during the next drop.
    oO0Oo Resident: !
Lucinda Lavender: Korel notices how people react...thinking about that...controlling people like me I think

    --BELL--

Lucinda Lavender: perhaps because I like to please them
Lucinda Lavender: I get so tired of that part of me
Bruce Mowbray: So, help me understand this. . . You clean because you like to please the other persons in your home?
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks Bruce:)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: (Luci)
Lucinda Lavender: not so much them...more me for the cleaning. Just have a general attitude of helping others...
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm. . . I understand.
Bruce Mowbray: You are naturally generous.
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'm happiest helping others, its my own work I don't feel like doing
Lucinda Lavender: have annoyed the family with moving their stuff tho
    Lucinda Lavender: putting away stuff
    SophiaSharon Larnia: haha
Bruce Mowbray: So "helping" needs to be checked out with those you're wishing to help?
    Lucinda Lavender: yep!
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Lucinda Lavender: I guess I focus on controlling the objects
Bruce Mowbray: Helping is a strange nut.
Lucinda Lavender: more than the people
Lucinda Lavender: strange nut controlling too
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Aph (and brb)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Aph!
    Bruce Mowbray: yes, it is.
    Lucinda Lavender: Hi Aph
Aphrodite Macbain: Hi everyone. I just gave my ca a lio cut
Bruce Mowbray: We're talking about why we come to PaB, and cleaning, and controlling.... and helping.
    Aphrodite Macbain: cat. lion
Bruce Mowbray: Have all of you discovered ctrl - shift - 1 yet?
Bruce Mowbray: try it. ctrl - shift - 1
    SophiaSharon Larnia tries it
    Bruce Mowbray: cool, huh?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ok, statistics?
    Lucinda Lavender: interesting!
Aphrodite Macbain: What do I do with this info?
Bruce Mowbray: well, it shows how fast your ISP is able to process your SL stuff....
SophiaSharon Larnia: I never got around to figuring the data here
oO0Oo Resident: what are your FramesPerSecond?
Bruce Mowbray: so, if you are ruthed, or slow to rezz, that might be the reason.
    Lucinda Lavender: I have 15
Aphrodite Macbain: I don't know what's big or small, good or bad
oO0Oo Resident: My fps is quite poor.. 5.3
SophiaSharon Larnia: mine is low, ~5 or so
Bruce Mowbray: I don't understand all of it, 0. Boxy was explaining this at Pila's I Ching session this afternoon.
Aphrodite Macbain: My badwidth is 800kb/s
Bruce Mowbray: my fps is only 3.2
SophiaSharon Larnia: mine is like, 80-90
oO0Oo Resident: anything under 10 is pretty unhelpful
Lucinda Lavender: my bandwidth fluctuates alot
    Aphrodite Macbain: *bandwidth!
SophiaSharon Larnia: I don't get it either Bruce, although I know its not astrophysics
    Lucinda Lavender: aw Sam
Bruce Mowbray: You can make adjustments for a low bandwidth by setting your graphics lower -- in Preferences.
SophiaSharon Larnia: then everything is ugly
Bruce Mowbray: Astrophysics? HA! Better ask Pema about that!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Sim FPS: 45
    SophiaSharon Larnia: giggles
Lucinda Lavender: Luci wants to know about her Badwidth too:)
    Bruce Mowbray: BAD width?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
    Aphrodite Macbain giggles
Aphrodite Macbain: that's what I have- badwidth.
Aphrodite Macbain: I must lose a few inches
    Bruce Mowbray: me too, Aph.
    Lucinda Lavender: me too
oO0Oo Resident: Ping measures the response time to the SL server near you in milliseconds (the round trip) lower is better
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Bruce Mowbray: Anyway, thought you might like to know about that little gadget.
Lucinda Lavender: so on the next pause we could jump up and down...
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks Bruce:)
Bruce Mowbray: my ping is over 2000 - - wonder what my pong is.
SophiaSharon Larnia wonders what her real life fps and bandwidth is
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: haha Bruce
Lucinda Lavender: or run around an object
Bruce Mowbray: RL BADwidth. . . Bruce is afraid to peek.
oO0Oo Resident: if your network is weak or vacillates... then packets of information are lost.. o.oo% is best
    SophiaSharon Larnia: me too!
    oO0Oo Resident: Packet Loss*
SophiaSharon Larnia: hey, mine is 0.00 woot
    Lucinda Lavender: me too
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: but isn't this what our "work" is really about -- finding our RL BADwidth and doping something about it?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: eh Bruce?
    Bruce Mowbray: doing*
    oO0Oo Resident: hehehehehe
    Bruce Mowbray: NOT doping!!!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: grins
Lucinda Lavender: luci wonders what the child agents are
Bruce Mowbray: my fingers have a BADwidth of their own.
    Bruce Mowbray: "child agents"?
Lucinda Lavender: see it in the list there
    Bruce Mowbray: I have 10 of them. . .
    SophiaSharon Larnia: me too
    Lucinda Lavender: me too
    Bruce Mowbray: ten children!!!???
    Lucinda Lavender: hee hee
    Lucinda Lavender: just imagine
Bruce Mowbray: No wonder the house is a mess!
Lucinda Lavender: agent brings to mind spies and stuff too
Bruce Mowbray: Quick, Kori, some control!!!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Aph :)
    Korel Laloix smile
    Bruce Mowbray: wb, Aph!
Lucinda Lavender: we are careening out of control!!
oO0Oo Resident: NOTE: an "agent" is either a user in a given region (a "main agent") or a user in a neighboring region (a "child agent").
Aphrodite Macbain: I clicked alt ctl 1 and made everything disappear
SophiaSharon Larnia: same old same old

    --BELL--

SophiaSharon Larnia: (re: my own careening out of control, not comment meant for the group lol)
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: It applies to me SS
    SophiaSharon Larnia: thanks Aph ha
Bruce Mowbray: Luci was talking earlier about her natural generosity -- her spontaneous willing that others be helped.
Aphrodite Macbain: How are you managing with your new job? It has strange hours hasn't it?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: me Aph?
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes SS
    Aphrodite Macbain: sorry to interrupt
SophiaSharon Larnia: i like it, it is 11p - 7a - which I've worked most of my adult life
SophiaSharon Larnia: or 7p to 7a
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-(
    oO0Oo Resident: long shifts
SophiaSharon Larnia: (listens to Luci :D)
Aphrodite Macbain: so you should be asleep right now?
SophiaSharon Larnia: nah I just got up
Lucinda Lavender: tho I think I become easily unfocussed and then makes lots of mistakes
SophiaSharon Larnia: that is the downside to chaos
Bruce Mowbray: Knowing how to "help" is a biggie.
Aphrodite Macbain: It's hard to make mistakes when you think of helping others
Lucinda Lavender: like mailing in the voter ballots without stamps!!
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Aphrodite Macbain: Ah yes, you went to the post office this AM didn't you?
Lucinda Lavender: but...it will probably get delivered I learned through someone kindly answering an email
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    Lucinda Lavender: yep
Bruce Mowbray: In America, we went to polling places today-- to vote.
Lucinda Lavender: and now the mailbox
    Aphrodite Macbain: What election?
Bruce Mowbray: mostly local and state, Aph.
    Bruce Mowbray: nothing national.
Bruce Mowbray: big issues in Ohio, though.
    Lucinda Lavender: king county
Aphrodite Macbain: how's it looking? lots of conservative votes?
    Bruce Mowbray: Portland?
    Bruce Mowbray: or Seattle?
    Lucinda Lavender: Seattle for me
    Bruce Mowbray: ok -- thanks.
Aphrodite Macbain: What big issues other than job jobs jobs
Bruce Mowbray: don't know yet, Aph - - Have to wait for polls to close.
Aphrodite Macbain: But issues have been discussed?
Bruce Mowbray: in Ohio -- whether state employees have the right to do collective bargaining.
    Bruce Mowbray: a big one.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes. I can imagine
Lucinda Lavender: whether thinking of closing liquor stores run by state
Bruce Mowbray: it will hit the national news, big time.
Bruce Mowbray: whoa, the liquor stores would then be privately run?
Aphrodite Macbain: why would they do that. It's a source of badly needed revenue, no?
Aphrodite Macbain wonders how PaB thinking would approach the subject of an election
Lucinda Lavender: I am afraid I am not a good one to ask...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Aphrodite Macbain: what would we drop?
Bruce Mowbray wonders what "PaB thinking" is.
Aphrodite Macbain: perhaps our assumptions about the candidates?
Aphrodite Macbain: dropping for example, Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain: appreciating the appearance of...?
Bruce Mowbray: At the Halifax retreat last July -- Pema asked, "What can we do to help another person to drop?"
Aphrodite Macbain: Taking the time to listen
    SophiaSharon Larnia: interesting
Bruce Mowbray: an amazing question, actually.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: and?
Aphrodite Macbain: any answers worth telling?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Tess :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes --- listens
    Tess Aristocrat: hi ㋡
    Lucinda Lavender: HI Tess
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi tess
Bruce Mowbray: well, I don't want to assume that I can speak for others present at that retreat. . . but for me, the main thing is to reflect back to that individual what I am hearing --- and then, hopefully, they can decide for themselves what to drop.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Tess!
Aphrodite Macbain: We have a municipal election coming up this month and I am completely ignorant about the candidates this time. It takes a lot of work to find out what the issues are and listen to the platforms
    Tess Aristocrat: ㋡
Bruce Mowbray: yes, it does, Aph.
Aphrodite Macbain: Hard to find someone inspiring.
oO0Oo Resident: [in case anyone wants to learn more about the Statistics thingy later, here's a link: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Statistics_Bar_Guide ]
Lucinda Lavender: for me the challenge is understanding the words in the voter pamphlet:)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: thanks O
Aphrodite Macbain: or interesting to listen to and most people would hate to be a politician these days
    Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, 0!
Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks- that's useful Sam
SophiaSharon Larnia: reflect it back, hmmm
Lucinda Lavender: when I arrived you were talking about the president...and it seems we have come round again...
Aphrodite Macbain: what is the voter pamphlet?
Bruce Mowbray: I'm getting "Bad Title" on Samuo's reference. . . Is that like BAD width?
Lucinda Lavender: a magazine that explains what is up for the election
    Aphrodite Macbain grins
Lucinda Lavender: comes in the mail
SophiaSharon Larnia: (works for me Bruce)
Bruce Mowbray: Actually, just Kori was talking about the president. . v. As I recall.
Aphrodite Macbain: with ALL the candidates' profiles and positions?
Tess Aristocrat: What sort of election will you be having?
    Lucinda Lavender: yes Aph...
    Tess Aristocrat: ah..

    --BELL--

oO0Oo Resident: I'm sorry (please correct the link) http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Statistics_Bar_Guide (thanks)
    Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, 0!
Lucinda Lavender: and I found the info is online too! With putting in your name and birthday you can get the version of info about your particular area too:)
    Bruce Mowbray: for late arrivers. . . . that's about ctrl - shirt - 1
Lucinda Lavender: and you can track the ballot
    Aphrodite Macbain: Very useful!
    Aphrodite Macbain: shift
Aphrodite Macbain: Is a control shirt like an invisible cloak?
Bruce Mowbray: shift --- yes, thanks, Aph.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: (brb)
    Bruce Mowbray: Control shirt!
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Lucinda Lavender: so if my ballot never arrives I will know
    Tess Aristocrat: yippieeee
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, blame it on the control shirt.
    Aphrodite Macbain: I've lost mine
Bruce Mowbray: I want that animation, Tess!!!
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Tess Aristocrat: giggles..
Lucinda Lavender: did anyone ever see the PBS program about Art and Power?
Bruce Mowbray: No -- please say more!
    Aphrodite Macbain: maybe
Lucinda Lavender: an examination of how art shows that certain qualities are put on pedestals
Aphrodite Macbain: It's an interesting subject- how art supports and reinforces power
    Bruce Mowbray: yippieeee
    Bruce Mowbray: yippieeee
    Bruce Mowbray: yippieeee
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: sry, Aph!
Aphrodite Macbain: art museums used to be considered places where people could be "civilized"
Lucinda Lavender: It was from some years ago tho...
Bruce Mowbray: I will search for it on PBS and try to watch it.
Lucinda Lavender: And I guess art reflects what is powerful about appearance
Bruce Mowbray: I notice that there is apparently a bias in art museums about what is most popular.
Aphrodite Macbain: art can be very political
Tess Aristocrat: Some art just screams to be noticed..
Lucinda Lavender: other stuff too but someone analysed the topic
Bruce Mowbray: or what supports the current "power" framework.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes. and what doesn't
Lucinda Lavender: you guys have probably heard that on my playground kids create teams to play with...well yesterday we had a power team
Tess Aristocrat: and in a world so full of media and so many different things to look at it seems that screaming is what gets noticed
Bruce Mowbray: My favorite artist is Adolphe Bourguereau - - but. . . because he was a contemporary of the French Impressionists, hardly anyone knows about his wonderful work.
Aphrodite Macbain: I am always amazed by the way statues are destroyed by a new regime - as if by destroying the statues they destroy the power of the person represented
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Aphrodite Macbain: Goes back to Egyptian times
    Tess Aristocrat: nods..
Tess Aristocrat: Everything old is new again.
Aphrodite Macbain: or things just continue
Lucinda Lavender: Power team, Christmas team, Snake team, ...
    Aphrodite Macbain: ??
Tess Aristocrat: Nothing you can sing that can't be sung... ~Beatles
Aphrodite Macbain: which teams are they?
    Tess Aristocrat: brb's
Lucinda Lavender: this is how kids choose playmates for the playground
    Bruce Mowbray: https://www.google.com/search?q=Boug...HpTciQKC-tjdBA
Lucinda Lavender: they say what there team is and where they will meet
Aphrodite Macbain: oh- it sounds like the Capulets and the Montagues
Lucinda Lavender: and yesterday there was a power team
    Bruce Mowbray: a power team???
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
Lucinda Lavender: the prized position is the top of the blue slide
    Bruce Mowbray: this scares me.
    Aphrodite Macbain: (Romeo and Juliet)
Bruce Mowbray: Children are already learning that power is how to relate to others???
Tess Aristocrat: stumbles back in..pomegranate in hand
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :0 Tes
Aphrodite Macbain: just read "Lord of the Flies"
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :) Tess*
Lucinda Lavender: age 4-5 power and identity are the developmental stage
    Bruce Mowbray: wb, Sophia.
    Tess Aristocrat: :P
Bruce Mowbray: errr... sry, I meant wb Tess.
Aphrodite Macbain: They test out their power on the playing field
Tess Aristocrat: I would love to do what Luci does ㋡
Tess Aristocrat: What a wonderful thing..
Lucinda Lavender: well or in this case a very small but bright person decided the name of the team...and was alone in the team till yesterday:)
Aphrodite Macbain: I would be bad at it I think. Not enough patience
SophiaSharon Larnia: it does sound like a lot of fun, maybe on a volunteer basis for me lol
    Lucinda Lavender: wonderful fun
Bruce Mowbray: SUCH an opportunity to shape the minds of youth!
Lucinda Lavender: I was impressed by his finding a name that might satisfy his need
Aphrodite Macbain: It's nice to know that people like Luci are with our kids during those important years
Lucinda Lavender: as a smaller guy
Tess Aristocrat: well, I love kids..love to play and watch them light up and learn
Bruce Mowbray loves "light up and learn."

    --BELL--

Aphrodite Macbain: Naming - a very important activity
    Aphrodite Macbain: sorry
Bruce Mowbray: I must go now.
Lucinda Lavender: play is the medium and work
    Bruce Mowbray: THANK YOU all!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Bruce!
Lucinda Lavender: thank you too Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain silently waves at Bruce
    Tess Aristocrat: be safe ㋡
Aphrodite Macbain: How is your throat Luci? Can you sing yet?
Lucinda Lavender: not really in mass like singing...but with the kids I was ok
    Aphrodite Macbain: that's a start!
    Lucinda Lavender: yep
    Lucinda Lavender: cough is better
    Aphrodite Macbain: good
Aphrodite Macbain: when is your big concert?
    Lucinda Lavender: next Sunday
    Aphrodite Macbain: fingers crossed
    Lucinda Lavender: osscs.org

    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Lucinda Lavender: that would be very cool
Aphrodite Macbain: will it be recorded and made available on the net?
Lucinda Lavender: So thinking about power I noticed that the children want to get to the highest point of the playground
Aphrodite Macbain: all of them or some?
Lucinda Lavender: well not net...but yes recorded
    Lucinda Lavender: in house ones
SophiaSharon Larnia: spatially higher, as an instinctive thing Luci?

    Lucinda Lavender: yes..tho less often
    SophiaSharon Larnia: makes sense
Lucinda Lavender: if you had a team...what would you call it?
Aphrodite Macbain: I often wanted to be far away fro the scrum of kids
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles at Aph
    oO0Oo Resident: Bye Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain: on my own or with 1 or 2 good friends
SophiaSharon Larnia: hard to answer Luci, my answer would be different 10 min from now

oO0Oo Resident: [13:54] Bruce (bruce.mowbray): At the Halifax retreat last July -- Pema asked, "What can we do to help another person to drop?" How about a metaphor?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: like a koan?
oO0Oo Resident: I've written one.. Can i share it?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: please :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: Yes please 0
oO0Oo Resident: a little lengthy.. bear with me
    Aphrodite Macbain makes herself comfortable
    Lucinda Lavender: GRRRR
oO0Oo Resident: . Every 15 minutes there is an election. There is hardly time to plan or understand all of what one might like to know to vote for all the new candidates. The contenders are powerful, compelling, conversant in all the cutting edge techniques of psychological marketing and advertising. They are the ideas we are having, and or the momentums of these thoughts. Think of a powerful absorbing thought as a heavy locomotive, chugging along with inertia, a politician on the caboose (last car) waving and asking you to keep up with them.
oO0Oo Resident: When the bell rings.. we can be reminded of the opportunity to just opt out of the election.. for 90 seconds.. drop the evaluations.. give up the vote in this instance.. for any of the candidates.. and everything else as well ;) But the front runners may appear to us variously.. and continue to beseech and cajole us to participate. We may even find ourselves a passenger on one of these trains of thought.. or bouncing between several.. we may even *be* the train or politician.. with a strong agenda.. forgetting that the election bell has rung, and campaigning is officially over in a sense. At times.. we might let go of the whole thing.. for periods.. and then allow for that.. What is left? How interesting. :)

    --BELL--

    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles widely
    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks Sam
SophiaSharon Larnia: what is left is some blessed silence when you put it that way
Aphrodite Macbain: Interesting concept, opting out
Tess Aristocrat: very good writing Sam
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: not participating
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Ekkonasia
Aphrodite Macbain: would anyone care i wonder?
Aphrodite Macbain: I will think about this further.
Tess Aristocrat: see you all later ㋡
Aphrodite Macbain: Now I have to go. Thanks for the thoughts and the sharing
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Tess!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Aph!

    oO0Oo Resident: my Metaphor Luci?
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
oO0Oo Resident: Thinking about that moment
oO0Oo Resident: when one decides to release and look away from the trains
oO0Oo Resident: for a little bit
oO0Oo Resident: the mind is not sure where to go
    Lucinda Lavender: HI Eliza:)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Everyone, nice to see you :)
oO0Oo Resident: the eyes not sure what to train on next
    oO0Oo Resident: and that gap
    oO0Oo Resident: is the space
    oO0Oo Resident: like Wester said
oO0Oo Resident: about meditation not being about thoughts ultimately
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
oO0Oo Resident: so there is that gap
    Lucinda Lavender: the space between
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Eliza!
oO0Oo Resident: Hi Eliza. Good to see you

    ekkonasia Oleander: same here hun
Lucinda Lavender: Sam just wrote a metaphor to describe dropping
ekkonasia Oleander: I'm not very intelligent
Lucinda Lavender: Every 15 minutes there is an election. There is hardly time to plan or understand all of what one might like to know to vote for all the new candidates. We may even find ourselves a passenger on one of these trains of thought.. or bouncing between several.. we may even
SophiaSharon Larnia: i sent a copy to Eliza, would you like one Ekk?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: whoops never mind
    ekkonasia Oleander: yes thank you

Eliza Madrigal reading.... thanks so much
SophiaSharon Larnia: its in text (and as an aside, Ive never seen that 'that sentence is too long' message before in my life)
Lucinda Lavender: we were discussing dropping, elections, and several other topics. Just thought you might like to see

    --BELL--

    SophiaSharon Larnia: whoops, sorry bell!
Eliza Madrigal: (indeed wonderful analogy Sam and thank you Luci)
SophiaSharon Larnia: the visuals of your story, Sam, affect me  more than the words :)
Eliza Madrigal: what happens if we leave the election alone? scary....
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles, that was my first thought, what is disinterest in this context. In rl that's a dangerous thing
    SophiaSharon Larnia: re: politics
    Lucinda Lavender: very interesting
SophiaSharon Larnia: it is a metaphor :)
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
Eliza Madrigal: and a very timely one
oO0Oo Resident: maybe a bit like not reading the newspaper for awhile.. seems ominous, but try it.. do things fall apart?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles at Ekk
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    ekkonasia Oleander: what just happened?
    Lucinda Lavender: brb
SophiaSharon Larnia: i dont know Ekk :/
ekkonasia Oleander: i went in the pool
    ekkonasia Oleander: just ignore me
    ekkonasia Oleander: sl hates me
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive clicked sit on things by accident, maybe that is what happened? no worries!
Eliza Madrigal: ah, or like a soap opera... walk away come back, same story and characters but with different faces?
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding
SophiaSharon Larnia: no sam, I don't watch the news on tv anymore
    oO0Oo Resident: yes Eliza
SophiaSharon Larnia: and haven't for a while, if something happens in the world, im one of the last to know
oO0Oo Resident: yet your world is there before you.. your more tangible world
    oO0Oo Resident: immediate world
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive made my world pretty small
SophiaSharon Larnia: the energy is easier to deal with
    Eliza Madrigal nods
oO0Oo Resident: top headlines this hour: strawberry tasted mighty fine... went for a walk and people smiled.. etc...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yayyyyy
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, YES what a good idea... 99 days is like real news :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D
    oO0Oo Resident: !
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D
    Lucinda Lavender: hmm
Lucinda Lavender: feeling the need to move for now...stay well all...
Eliza Madrigal: and the trains analogy is incredibly helpful.... thinking of all the trains that rush by in the course of a day... the main thing is to catch one's own?
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Luci! nice to see you8
Eliza Madrigal: Lovely to see you Luci
    SophiaSharon Larnia: !
Lucinda Lavender: appreciate you all so much
oO0Oo Resident: Luci :) Hope you feel better soon
    Eliza Madrigal: (((Luci))))))

Lucinda Lavender: so far food is staying down!!!
    oO0Oo Resident feels appreciated (((self)))
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: ((((selfsamsophiaekkkorel))))
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
SophiaSharon Larnia: is the main thing to let it go Eliza?
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: the trains
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, seems so...
SophiaSharon Larnia: looks at the clock and wonders where the time went
Eliza Madrigal: it can be hard when a friend gets on a different train too but maybe will come around again :)
Eliza Madrigal giggles as this analogy becomes grand mind central
SophiaSharon Larnia: i had been thinking of the train as conceptualizations, that is a very interesting perspective
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, the cacophony! lol

    oO0Oo Resident: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entrainment

    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Eliza Madrigal: ah, you didn't.... really appreciate what you were saying...
    Eliza Madrigal: resonates :)
Eliza Madrigal: I remember that when I came to the group a few times I felt like that actually... but hm, something about it peaked my curiosity anyway :)
oO0Oo Resident: yes.. thanks for reminding me..
oO0Oo Resident: for a time it felt like an "in" group in a way.. perhaps the metaphors and common knowledge
oO0Oo Resident: leading to abbreviated ways of speaking
Eliza Madrigal: :) sure... easily happens...
    oO0Oo Resident: but over time
oO0Oo Resident: if one leans in
Eliza Madrigal: yes? .... (leans in)...
oO0Oo Resident: yet, I am impressed by how Pema engages with new people in a way that acknowledges a freshness coming and going :)
oO0Oo Resident: appreciate that a lot

Eliza Madrigal: quite often yes :) a lot of nice things about Pema
    oO0Oo Resident: others too
Eliza Madrigal: each time is new

    Lucinda Lavender: I left Phoenix
    Lucinda Lavender: back to v2
Eliza Madrigal: isn't the whole idea of a phoenix to reinvent? :)
    Lucinda Lavender: sorry to interrupt
    Lucinda Lavender: carry on
Eliza Madrigal: "keep calm and carry on"
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
Lucinda Lavender: everything looks different in the button department
    Lucinda Lavender: on the left
    Eliza Madrigal: strange times
Lucinda Lavender: giant nearby chat in the middle
oO0Oo Resident: gentle smile and bow (thinks of Eos)
Lucinda Lavender: above the stand button
Lucinda Lavender: luci will really not talk now...please carry on
Eliza Madrigal: we were just pondering the train imagery further I think Luci...
oO0Oo Resident: just delighting in what comes up
    Eliza Madrigal: lightly
    Eliza Madrigal nods

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: am sort of delighted thinking of all the trains... but then one adds Russia and gets to Anna Karrenina...
    Eliza Madrigal: tangents :)
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Lucinda Lavender: and Hogwartz
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Eliza Madrigal: ah indeed... one nice thing is that on the Hogwarts Express, all the different houses were on one train
    Lucinda Lavender: so true
Lucinda Lavender: thinks of her kids at school and how they choose teams for the playground...they make them up...and this is interesting because they can choose a new one at anytime
Eliza Madrigal: do they often change or tend to group together in consistent patterns?
Lucinda Lavender: we just tell them to send an imaginary email letting everyone know
    Eliza Madrigal: !!
    Eliza Madrigal: WOW
    Eliza Madrigal: :::delights:::::
    Eliza Madrigal: :::cartwheels:::::
    oO0Oo Resident: :)

oO0Oo Resident: [15:25] Eliza Madrigal: red rover red rover... [15:26] indigo.express (Indigo) left the region. [15:27] Samúð (oo0oo): ah! a four leaf clover came over! [15:27] Eliza Madrigal: and another, and another... wait... can't be.... uh oh, new rules
Lucinda Lavender: hmm what logs are you speaking of sam?
oO0Oo Resident: well.. let me expand this train

    --BELL--

Lucinda Lavender: a new car attaches
oO0Oo Resident: was thinking of how nice and generous Xirana is... and how she is so smart and able with languages.. and of how she really tries to get all the understanding she can from English things said.. and how that is not always easy.. and then.. noticing how abstract things can get.. and finding humour in it too.
    oO0Oo Resident: so
    oO0Oo Resident: maybe
    oO0Oo Resident: more close to
    oO0Oo Resident: my train
    oO0Oo Resident: looking at
    oO0Oo Resident: red rover
oO0Oo Resident: and four leaf clover
oO0Oo Resident: and a kind of wonder and delight
oO0Oo Resident: and sensing of layers
    oO0Oo Resident: many layers
    oO0Oo Resident: magic
    oO0Oo Resident: gentle smile bow
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
Eliza Madrigal: brb, water for tea is boiling...
    Lucinda Lavender: whoa!
Lucinda Lavender: major accident I guess
    oO0Oo Resident: ?

Lucinda Lavender: do I look different?
    Eliza Madrigal: quite, Luci!

    oO0Oo Resident: Joliecinda?
    Lucinda Lavender: yep!
    Lucinda Lavender: ha ha
Eliza Madrigal: in a world, filled by invisible cages, one woman sees through them all...
Lucinda Lavender: I have always wanted a long braid
Eliza Madrigal: the chickens will soon be free
oO0Oo Resident: Whoever did that plaiting of your hair Luci deserves a medal
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding
    Lucinda Lavender: wasn't me
    Lucinda Lavender: some nice linden
Eliza Madrigal: very impressive... though alas, I can't take a picture due to the two hairs thing
    oO0Oo Resident: two hairs thing?
Lucinda Lavender: looks like there are 4 animals I could be...and a guy, and 4 robots
Eliza Madrigal: yes.... perhaps due to phoenix I am always seeing avatars with two sets of hair... sporadically but none the less
Eliza Madrigal: How is Firestorm, Sam?
    oO0Oo Resident: Firestorm: Me=no hair, Eliza=1 hair, LaraLuci=1 hair
    Eliza Madrigal: :
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: and in general? happy with?
    oO0Oo Resident: and a sidearm @@
Eliza Madrigal: yes... and tattoos that look a bit like the 'guardian of the void'
Lucinda Lavender: luci just wonders how to get back to first luci
Eliza Madrigal: well that's a detour
oO0Oo Resident: lions, and tigers and bears Oh my!
