The Guardian for this meeting was Pema Pera. The comments are by Pema Pera.

    Pema Pera: hi Naturespaw!
    Pema Pera: and hi Eliza!
Naturespaw Bestijl: Hey Pem, Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Naturespaw, Pema, um... sculptures....
Pema Pera: yes, another Art of Being era, it seems . . . .
Eliza Madrigal: Art of Being Reflection :)
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Nice..
Naturespaw Bestijl: Ooh, they should make water sprout from the blue one in the pool
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Pema Pera: it may turn into ice :)
    Pema Pera: hi Eos!
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eos :)
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Hey Eos
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Nature, Eliza, Pema
Eliza Madrigal: wonderful, Eos... very elegant attire
    Pema Pera: indeed!
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Nice
Eos Amaterasu: time for a bit of a change
    Eliza Madrigal: suits you :)
Pema Pera: hi 0, good to see you again!
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sam :)
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Hi Ooo!
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Sam!
Pema Pera: today I met somebody from Holland, a daughter of a friend; it was her first time in New York, and it was fun to see the city where I live through fresh eyes
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Bertrum
Pema Pera: she is about my age, so that was especially interesting
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bertrum
Pema Pera: since we had almost exactly the same cultural background
    Pema Pera: hi Bert!
    Bertrum Resident: hi everyone
Pema Pera: and it made me think again how difficult it is to describe something in words . . .
Pema Pera: we were talking about the same city -- she as seen in a few days, me as seen in a few decades
Pema Pera: and one can wonder whether it was "the same city" -- what that would mean
Eos Amaterasu: there are adjacent possibles in your perception not in hers
    Pema Pera: hi Auguste!
    Eos Amaterasu: & vice versa
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Hey Bert, Auguste!
Pema Pera: yes, and at the same time she sees things in a way that I may not be able to see
oO0Oo Resident: I have been thinking lately of how well and thoughtfully you describe things Pema
Pema Pera: it's more than a subset of what I can see
    Pema Pera: ty Sam :-)
oO0Oo Resident waves to Bertrum and Auguste
Naturespaw Bestijl: Sometimes there are things people notice, subtle changes that when you're living there one may not take notice to as much.
    Pema Pera: yes
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi Samud
Pema Pera: just seeing the sheer excitement of finding yourself where you've dreamt of going to for your whole life :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi everyone, I'm havina hard time rezzig here, so do't min me
Eliza Madrigal waves to Auguste, and nods with Pema
    --BELL--
    Auguste Wolfhunter waves at Eliza
Auguste Wolfhunter: And waves hi at Bert ad Eos
oO0Oo Resident: [19:09] Pema Pera: since we had almost exactly the same cultural background // Is this not also an open ended question.. perhaps two worlds as well even culturally?
Pema Pera: sorry, what is the question, Sam?
oO0Oo Resident: Wondering about what the actual extent of mutual experience due to age and culture might have been
Pema Pera: oh, a lot :-)
Pema Pera: with a few words, you can convey far more in that way
Eliza Madrigal: love the feeling of showing someone around in a place that means much personally, everything is new, through newly generated eyes almost :)
    Eos Amaterasu: a secret garden
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Tess!
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Hey Tess!
    Tess Aristocrat: hey ㋡
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Tess... lovely wings :))
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Tess
    Pema Pera: hi Tess!
Auguste Wolfhunter: I can't see them yet
Auguste Wolfhunter: She has a very nice grey presence
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Turning white
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Tess
Tess Aristocrat: good to be ㋡
Pema Pera: when we talk about the break, or about wu-wei (not-doing), with somebody for the first time, it's a bit like showing a familiar city to someone else for the first time
    Pema Pera: *the 9-sec break
    Tess Aristocrat: oh
Pema Pera: (Tess, I had mentioned I showed somebody my city, New York, for the first time today)
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Paradise!
    Pema Pera: hi Paradise!
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Paradise
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Paradise :)
Tess Aristocrat: ㋡ I went to NYC once when I was 17
Pema Pera: did you enjoy it?
Paradise Tennant: smiles and waves all round :)
oO0Oo Resident: Hi Para, I'll send you a notecard.
Tess Aristocrat: It was exciting and a bit scary, but really exciting
    Pema Pera: :-)
Pema Pera: sounds a bit like meditation practice :-)
    Tess Aristocrat: hahaha
Pema Pera: what's around the next corner ?!??
Tess Aristocrat: well, I was on my own..so I was very cautious I guess
Eos Amaterasu: Port Authority bus terminal?
Pema Pera: how about using the next 90-sec break to ask ourselves "what's around the next corner" ?
Auguste Wolfhunter: yeah, NyC is scary as a teenager. On your own
Tess Aristocrat: I arrived in Grand Central Station
    --BELL--
Tess Aristocrat: Well, its mostly unknown..as to what's around the corner, right?
Tess Aristocrat: The unknown can be scary sometimes
Eos Amaterasu: it's coming up anyway :-)
Pema Pera: I looked at thoughts and images arising, and then I tried to dwell with one of them for a while, seeing more and more aspects/borders, corners to some extent
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Thnks Samud
Pema Pera: what did you all experience?
Tess Aristocrat: I try to keep it as a 'no agenda' thing..if that makes sense..?
Tess Aristocrat: it helps to not project
Eliza Madrigal: when I tried to imagine the 'next corner' I became quite aware of the space behind me... some sense of awareness including blindspots
Tess Aristocrat: and rather to respond as it happens, *other than preplanned things
Pema Pera: yes, watching while leaving everything open is a nice approach!
Auguste Wolfhunter: The risks around the next corner can be paralyzing or thrilling
Pema Pera: interesting connection between corners and blind spots!
Bertrum Resident: I have a question that relates to the "unseen" in a familiar space.
Bertrum Resident: I attended a memorial service today. It began with the ringing of a singing bowl in the key of “f.” and it brought something very power but unseen into the auditorium. It was explained that the key of “f” is the key in turn with the emotional heart. I wondered if anyone has heard of the healing and or emotive qualities of properties of certain musical notes?
    Bertrum Resident: *powerful
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
    Naturespaw Bestijl: That's very interesting!
    Bertrum Resident: *key in tune
    Tess Aristocrat: yes
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Korel
Eliza Madrigal smiles too... have not heard this but thank you for sharing that
Paradise Tennant: lots of interesting research on that bertrum .. let me dig for some links
Eos Amaterasu: a certain kind of synesthesia, emotothesia
    Tess Aristocrat: nods
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Korel :)
Tess Aristocrat: I think we all possess that
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Pema Pera: hi Korel!
Auguste Wolfhunter: Bert, I have; it's well known that music can heal or noise can harm
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Hey Korel!
    Korel Laloix: osiyo
oO0Oo Resident: Nice to see you Korel
Eliza Madrigal: imagines what a sustained open note may allow for
Naturespaw Bestijl: In a seminar I attended, the speaker noted that if she ever uses music in her presentations, she'll choosea random song in a foreign language just so people don't associate anchors with it (in case they're negative anchors)
Eos Amaterasu recommends the final note in "Amor mio, si muero y tu no mueres (My love, if I die and you don't--)", by Peter Lieberson, sung by Lorraine Hunt Lieberson
    Tess Aristocrat: ㋡
    Eos Amaterasu: Neruda love songs
Tess Aristocrat: probably a high 'C'
    Paradise Tennant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_and_the_brain
    Korel Laloix: Thanks
Auguste Wolfhunter: I love this, we are talking about what is right around the corner, and a friend in IM is talking about the huge economic opportunities "right around the corner" in Australia and the Phillipines (oh, and Canada too)
oO0Oo Resident: makes a note of Eos's suggestions
    Pema Pera: :-)
    --BELL--
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.scientificamerican.com/ar...in-tones-jul10
oO0Oo Resident: Music when flowing, when considering improvosation.. each note is that one just around the corner.. not yet known..
    Pema Pera: nice connection, Sam!
Pema Pera: in a very real way, every moment is a great surprise . . . no idea what will pop up in our mind, as well as our world, even if those could be separated
Bertrum Resident: Anyway, I wondered if it had some basis in Buddhist thinking--specific tones or notes.
    oO0Oo Resident: http://www.jadedragon.com/articles/sound.html
Paradise Tennant: thanks sam good article :)
    Bertrum Resident: Yes, thanks.
Eliza Madrigal: notes between spaces, music playing of its own accord, inbreath taking care of itself ... surely flavors of wu wei
Eos Amaterasu: seems that our neurons also sing to teach other
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Pema Pera pictures neurons jamming . . .
    --BELL--
Paradise Tennant: almost as though because everything is vibrating .. the universe is really a song...
oO0Oo Resident: to let go is to hear?
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Lucinda!
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Luci
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Fireball :)
    Pema Pera: hi Lucinda!
Lucinda Lavender: Hissing like a small fire here.. hello in a not to interruptive manner...
    Eos Amaterasu: hi Luci
Auguste Wolfhunter: oooh. Nice hot yellow colors, Luce
    Lucinda Lavender: a fire dress...
Lucinda Lavender: for the cold winter season
    Eos Amaterasu: marmalade skies
Naturespaw Bestijl: That is very nice!
Pema Pera: good so tee you all
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Pema Pera: *see
    Auguste Wolfhunter: And tangerine dreams
    Pema Pera: bedtime for me
Eliza Madrigal: Night Pema and Eos
    Pema Pera: till next time!
Eos Amaterasu: speaking of which, must depart
Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, I'm glad you've sat by me, Luci, to keep me warm.
Eos Amaterasu: night all, and thnx
Paradise Tennant: good nite pema :) eos :)
    Naturespaw Bestijl: Night!
    Auguste Wolfhunter: TC, Pema
    Auguste Wolfhunter: bye, Eos

Naturespaw Bestijl: Bed time as well. Take care everyone and thanks :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: And Nature :)
    Auguste Wolfhunter: tc, Naturespaw
Auguste Wolfhunter waves at Samud, Korel, Bert, Paradise, Tess, Lucinda, & Eliza
oO0Oo Resident: Bye pema, Eos, Auguste, Naturespaw
Lucinda Lavender: good evening to you NG:)
Eliza Madrigal: Bertrum, it goes without saying perhaps but sorry for your loss. It sounds as though the service was very special
Lucinda Lavender: Paradise I did not know you were here ...with the sculpture:)
    Tess Aristocrat: ㋡
Paradise Tennant: smiles and waves :)
Bertrum Resident: There were 500 people in the auditorium. It was a powerful way to begin the service for an exemplary human being.
Lucinda Lavender: How diod the auditorium feel Bertrum...
Bertrum Resident: Not sure I understand the question.
Lucinda Lavender: Just wondered if you might want to say more about how the service was...
Tess Aristocrat: I'm writing a little note for you all to read and consider, *if it seems I'm quiet)
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bertrum Resident: It was not a religious ceremony but a public memorial service.
oO0Oo Resident: noods at Tess :)
    oO0Oo Resident: *nods
Bertrum Resident: It began with the striking of a siging bowl 3 times. We were told it was in the key of "f" and that was directly in tune with the emotion of the heart.
Bertrum Resident: I associate singing bowls with Buddhism (in my layman way). So I wondered if anyone know more about any special tones or notes that are part of Buddhist ceremonies. Sam's article talks about the OM and that's an interesting gateway.
    Bertrum Resident: *knew
Lucinda Lavender: I wil check on my book shlf for information...
    --BELL--
Bertrum Resident: The strinking of the sinfing bowl three times and the pure tone that resonated was quite powerful and I felt that it made tangible a powerful feeling of someting wonderful as well as someone wonderful who is now gone from the world as we know it.
    Bertrum Resident: *singing
    Lucinda Lavender: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLZW2A1RJUo
Lucinda Lavender: healing key of f...on piano:)
    Tess Aristocrat: ok..
Lucinda Lavender: an add I guess...sorry...
Lucinda Lavender: sounds like a wonderful moment...
Tess Aristocrat: Someone made a statement about engaging the eye briefly when making a point. Can one understand how that, on a physical level, engaging the eye encourages the development of *ego or the *I? Eye becomes a lens for the concept of *I because it has to relate to something that it sees. Thus can one infer that the neurological framework that creates the eye to see creates a consciousness from which to perceive what is being seen? And what a wonder that this happens all on its own! What I mean to say is that our egos drive us to change because *I wants the environment to change to acheive its current level of wants and needs which at some point ultimately is the want or need to procreate... What is remarkable is that there are depths of the consciousness that are not yet understood. So the question is, what is the catalyst that creates the eye in the neurological development of an organism. Is that the point of conscious awareness?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Stevenaia
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you Tess, interesting questions :)
stevenaia Michinaga: evening, someone has been playing with ice
Tess Aristocrat: anyway..just wanted to share that with you all
