Korel Laloix: Good.. been an interesting weekened.
Aphrodite Macbain: Yes? How so?
Korel Laloix: Got lots of stuff done and a lot of reading done as well.
Korel Laloix: Doing some house renovations.
Aphrodite Macbain: Nice feeling isn't it?
Aphrodite Macbain: Are you doing the renovations yourself?
Korel Laloix: With my stepdad's help.
Aphrodite Macbain: What are you renovating?
Korel Laloix: Putting a door in from the living room into my room which used to be the garage.
Aphrodite Macbain: Your room used to be the garage? Must be a nice big room.
Korel Laloix: It was a single car garage with some storage and a utlity sink.
Korel Laloix: So it was easy to turn into a nice room with a full bath.
Korel Laloix: I used to have the converted back porch.... smiles... so this is much better.
Aphrodite Macbain: Lovely. I live in a one bedroom apartment. Not much room for renos!
Aphrodite Macbain: So I repaint every so often and reorganize the furniture
Korel Laloix: This was originally a one bedroom house.
Korel Laloix: One of the oldest houses in the state eveidently.
Aphrodite Macbain: Wow. Is that Oklahoma?
Aphrodite Macbain: How old is it?
Korel Laloix: But over the years a front and back porch were added and a bathroom to replace the outhouse.
Korel Laloix: Then a one car garage.
Korel Laloix: 18 something.
Aphrodite Macbain: An old settlers home?
Korel Laloix: My grandma says it is one of the oldest.... I have not idea really.
Korel Laloix: Well pre indoor plumbing for sure.
Aphrodite Macbain: Right now I'm thinking how I can renovate my life

Dash Earthboy: yes i'm prepping to travel

Dash Earthboy: goal is a place to start a new life
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm wondering whether I need to own so much stuff; it prevents me from moving around and doing new things
Dash Earthboy: for sure :)
Aphrodite Macbain: All our "stuff" kind of holds us down. Like moss on a stone
Aphrodite Macbain: Korel is expanding her house
Dash Earthboy: i've been trying to sell so much of the collections i've accumulated in work in the past
Korel Laloix: It was nice when I moved from OK to Florida .... everyting I owned fit in my car with room to spare.
Aphrodite Macbain: Bet it doesn't now Korel
Korel Laloix: Well... lol.. since the motorcyle is gone, it would again.
Aphrodite Macbain: How did you get rid of your stuff Dash? Do you sell it or give it away?
Dash Earthboy: libraries of books, LP & tape collections, technology hardware & software
Aphrodite Macbain: Books can go to a library...
Aphrodite Macbain: hardware and software can go to recycling depots
Dash Earthboy: ask me if I've tried the library Aph...

Aphrodite Macbain: they didn't want anything?

Aphrodite Macbain: maybe the local schools with libraries?
Dash Earthboy: but Aph, let's look at an important detail: I need funds just to survive
Dash Earthboy: how will giving away this stuff help that?
Aphrodite Macbain: Hmm. That's a separate issue. It's not that you want to get rid of your stuff but you want to make money from it.
Aphrodite Macbain: That's another story for sure!
Dash Earthboy: no they are related
Dash Earthboy: i need to place my stuff in good hands
Aphrodite Macbain: But will you give stuff away? If you wont you may be stuck with it
Dash Earthboy: and I need to use assets to get funds
Dash Earthboy: instead of it being "another story" let's try a more "holistic" perspective, ok?

Aphrodite Macbain: you have a big challenge
Dash Earthboy: yes
Dash Earthboy: i haven't needed a 3BR house for several years now
Dash Earthboy: renting it out is not an option
Aphrodite Macbain: sorry - I didn't know you were living in one

Dash Earthboy: i have 3BR/2BA house I've been trying to sell since 2006

Dash Earthboy: during last two years the value has been cut to 80% of its 2007 value

Dash Earthboy: my son has power of attorney for me on that sale
Aphrodite Macbain: It may be worth using a real estate agent - they have lots of connections and means of advertising
Dash Earthboy: that's why my insurance agent is looking for one for me Aph
